i bought a Optus my tab (ZTE v9) yesterday due to the cheap price.
and updated to Froyo 2.2.
and I'm having a few problems rooting it.
nothing seems to work.
i first tried Universal Android (as whirlpool said it worked)
nothing at all, constantly failed.
i tried superoneclick it said it was successful, but when i try to use Titanium Backup, it says i do not have root, but Superuser is installed.
tried Z4Root as it apparently worked, after clicking permanent root, it would do a few things than go to a white screen and reset. and was still not rooted.
any suggestions to what i can do?
i really want to get the bloatware junk off it.
also, are there any roms for it?
bump? please?
I used z4root which works fine with with mine (not permanent)

Use gingerbreak 1.2. Search the forum.

Gingerbreak v1.2 doesn't work.
Z4root doesn't work either.
Are following the instruction of rooting with gingerbreak... like USB debugging should be on..... the sdcard should be formatted etc etc.

So I just bought my Droid 2 the other day and could not resist the temptation to root it. Well, that process was easy enough through tutorials on here, but now i've stumbled upon a problem. When I awoke this morning, there was a notification to update to 2.2.20 (i had rooted it with 2.2.19).
No serious issues here... the update went fine and no bricking or anything. I still have all my apps and my current phone version is 2.2.20. My problem is that I lost the root-enabled features! superuser permissions is still an app, but the apps that access root are unable to (barnacle, setCPU, etc).
I'm not sure if this is as simple as going through the process again, or since it's been rooted do i need to do something different this time? I'm somewhat familiar with UNIX so i shouldn't need a fully dumby-proof explanation, but I'm not familiar enough where a barebone explanation will do it either. If anyone can help it'd be great. No rush though, phone still works i just really miss my wifi tether!
I think you can reroot using the same method

Install an update or do the .sbf recovery.
Alternatively, go in /system/bin and remove su and busybox and restore any removed system apps, as long as you haven't done any changes

Hi everyone. I searched the forums and couldnt find an answer to this question.
My friend brought over his captivate to update on my PC (since his wouldnt recognize his Captivate). He was running rooted stock. I updated and he wanted to root again so we are trying to root using SuperOneClick v1.7. We run SuperOneClick and it says it was successful. Superuser is listed in the apps. Whenever we try to run a app that requires root access (Titanium Backup, Screen Shot IT) it was that they can not acquire root privileges. Can anyone tell me what we might be doing wrong? I appreciate any help.
Did you reboot after rooting?

You shouldn't have to install su. If I were you I'd run through the root process again, and I mean redownload the files again and check for proper adb & driver setup.
Edit: Actually first open up super user and see if Rom manager has been allowed. Also, can you boot into recovery?

Superuser is blank nothing is there and I can not reboot in to recovery

Were you using the Three click root method or the manual ADB root method?
Sounds like you didn't fully root. I recommend you root again using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996616
But before that to ensure you have adb setup, download and install this:

Download Busybox, install, reboot, then see if all is well.
I agree with getting busybox off the market, but that shouldn't stop you from getting CWR to install, but you may need it for other apps that require it. I had the exact same problems when I rooted and I just restarted my phone 3-4 times and it worked...
I tried busy box I tried everything I could think of

Capt kirk Easy one click root script is perfect. Works without a hitch every time.

I'm trying to root the samsung galaxy s 4g. I used SuperOneClick to do so. I tested to ensure it was rooted with root check etc and it is. I downloaded ROM Manager and installed the clockworkMod for my phone. When I attempt to back up current ROM it reboots and leaves me at Appling Multi-CSC and the options to reboot etc and I reboot with nothing happening. The phone works fine after words. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks.
Lol rom manager
Don't install ROM manager. It doesn't work for our phone. Search aroubd in here for cwm final or something like that.

There are many pre-rooted roms available for Odin flashing.

If you follow this step-by-step, you will have GB with Voodoo cwm red.
I have a nexus s and I used ota to update to ICS 4.0.3
After this, via a software on my PC (don't remember the name) I unlocked the bootloader. And then ran the root command from the same software. Once this finished, I ran a root check, but it showed that My phone was not rooted. After a few days, my phone wouldn't boot at all and remain on Samsung logo. I gave it to a service center and they reinstalled gingerbread 2.3.3 for me. Now when I try to ota to ics, and then reboot, the phone doesn't boot. (Green android with question mark). Pulling the battery revolts it into gingerbread.
How do I ota?
And is there any oneclick to root it?
