Do any of you guys know of a rom for the mez that supports a front facing camera? I watched a video on youtube about the instalation and really want to give this a try. Any ideas?

first we would have to have an ffc... but then every rom would support it. so... yes? I'm confusing myself. no.

On youtube there are videos on how to install a front facing camera into a galaxy s that does not have one. However they say that you need to have a rom that supports the ffc.

It has a front facing camera - you just have to turn the phone around to use it.

Hi all,
I've been experimenting with the camcorder and I'm pretty disappointed at the quality of the video. Just curious if anyone knows something that I don't about how to get a bit better results. Anyone know of any non-obvious tweaks or tips to get a bit less pixelly videos? Or maybe a ROM recommendation? I wouldn't think that the ROM matters but shoot, I learn something surprising and new about my phone all the time!
(Using DarchLegend 4.3)
I'm running fresh 2d and my camera is fine. other than the obvious - its not an actual camcorder thing. works great for those times you can't go get the Sony.

iirc the only apps at the moment are Tango and Qik for video chatting.
Last time i tried Tango the rotation of the camera was off, and they were working on it. not sure if it's fixed yet.
i tried oovoo, but it said my phone wasn't supported.

That's only if you flash the new voodoo lagfix.... any customs rom without it have the ffc working fine...

Taking pictures with the FFC with the stock camera app is the only thing freezing the phones with the voodoo lagfix. People have been doing video calls and using other camera apps with the FFC with no problems.
So Skype released a new update for a lot ore phones, the Thunderbolt is finally included in the video calling list. YAY, right?
Well if you read the description you find this: "On Android 2.2 (Froyo), only the back camera will work. This is because only devices running Android OS 2.3 or higher allow apps to access the front facing camera."
So you can video chat..but only with the rear camera...what good is that for video chat?!?

@bliang - does the gtalk video also have the same problem as skype where

Installed on CM7 but won't let me sign in or create a new account. However it keeps trying to start up with the cloud and sync circle in the notification bar. Even killed it and it just reappeared.

Nevermind, i didnt have it enabled in the settings...
It does work in CM7 RC1.4 for me with the front camera.

Well you could always face the back camera to you and stand in front of a mirror/place a mirror in front so you can see the screen

well this is depressing. i've been waiting to use skype b/c most of the people i want to chat with don't have tango, fring or video gchat on their unrooted phones.

New version of Skype released yesterday. Video calls are working on my Inspire. Just wanted to share in case anyone missed it

Out of curiosity, what's the point without a forward facing camera? Do you use a mirror?

I used it for testing and its better than the one in yahoo. Its not that I really don't have a choice cos xperia arc don't have front camera, but the arc camera is known to be of superb quality. Also its nice to be talking to someone while showing your surroundings or someone to them. That's the point of the rear camera

After I flashed weapon onto my phone. There have been 2 problems with my front facing camera, one that it comes out rotated 90 degrees for photo capture and when I try to use it for video it comes out completely messed up with 4 different screens, 1 with a green area, a blurred image of the camera and 2 other messed up views of the camera. Is there any fix for this? Thanks.
That happened to me while trying Skype. As for the bad screen I changed the Res, for the upside down I just rotated my phone. The finally I. Just said screw the stock cam and installed LG cam 3.0 which all works great except no Skype video

That's a known issue with LG Cam App... Try installing the stock Gingerbread Camera.

It looks different, has a couple features stock does not, and most importantly can record video in 1080p, something no other camera app on the G2X is capable of.
Here's a thread discussing the LG camera and what it can do if you're really curious. I personally don't find it necessary; the MIUI camera can do almost everything LG can do and Camera Advance can do everything (and more!) other than 1080p video, which I don't need.

Nervermind,sorry. I found it. Also, it is a good app so far. I like knowing at what MP my pictures are as well as what size the video is recording at. Much btter than the standard GB cam app.

Only bad thing so far is that it doesnt work with Skype. I keep the stock cam zip file to flash via CWM when i need to make a skype video call.
