I’m amazed with the battery life on this thing. Even after over clocking to 1.4Ghz I’m sure it could last 10 hours of non-stop normal use. Post up your own tests so we can give others a general consensus.
Test - 3 hours total use. 2h internet/mail, 1h 2D gaming
Battery - Start 100% Finish 79%
Rom - Vegan 5.1.1.
Kernel - Pershoot’s OCed 1.4Ghz throttled with SetCPU.
Brightness - 60%
Running Data Widgets - Atoma RSS Reader, Weather, SetCPU, Gmail, Calander.
I appreciate the idea behind this thread, of gathering battery data. However, the G Tab's battery readout is notoriously flaky (your 79% may not map to 21% of the actual battery being drained), so my opinion is that only 100%-to-power-down times are useful here.
My unscientific results:
I typically charge mine every morning for about 2 hours. Then it comes with me to the office where it gathers e-mail over Wifi ( set to push ) and I usually do some browsing the web, reading e-mail and play a few games of Sudoku or something over lunch.
When I get home, I'm often running MythMote to control my MythTV slave system, more e-mail and browsing, other games and finally off to bed where I typically read some pulp fiction novel on the Aldiko reader for 30 - 60 minutes. The tablet goes to sleep shortly after I do and get placed back on the charger the next morning. I usually see 30 - 50% battery remaining at that time.
I don't think I've ever hit a low battery power down, so I don't really know how long that would take.
I've a thread in the Q and A forum -> I looped a video stored on the tabler's memory and had my wifi connected (receiving emails, etc.). It lasted 10hrs 56 minutes.

How the fudge...?
Mine is pretty good, but not that good.
1 % for very hour of sleeping
I don't use my g-tab that much. However, I notice it drain 1% every hour of sleeping. I think that is a lot. I am using VEGAn GE v. 7.0.0 STABLE RC1. If anyone is using a ROM that has a better "sleeping" battery life, let me know!
My battery meter doesn't reflect the true charge. That's the problem with the rom I'm using. Its been to stable even upgrade.
I'm on tnt.lite 3.1.4 which is rather dated. I dun recall flashing a custom rom ...

ok using wiskey rom with bali kernel stock file system for now havent done the battery reset sence flashing this rom as of yet. Took phone off charger at 600 am pst its now 1003 pm pst and still have 19 percent battery thats after leaving facebook running in the background yahoo messenger texting most of the day 4 hours worth of phone calles browsing the net listening to music for 40 mins just wasnt sure if thats conisdered light or moderate usage and if thats considered decent battery life?
I'd say that is pretty moderate use, although i'd advise you not to leave background apps running since it drains battery. Talking on the phone will take you down quite a notch on the battery life, same goes for your data usage. I usually get about a single day out of my charged battery with normal use though so you're fine. (I'm running stock w/root- so considering you're running a custom rom i think that's magnificent)
EDIT: I just rer-read and saw you're using the bali kernel lol

Yeah, thats waaayyy better than what I've been getting. I swear there's something wrong with my phone. Unplugged at 9am, had to recharge by 8pm. Didn't really do much either, just messed with it for like an hour trying to fix the trigger theme for frost.

the whole point is trying to kill the battery lol thats how i use my phone and keep in touch with people when im not home so i do leave those apps running on puropose so i can keep in touch phone is idleing right now at 18 percent still lol mm might play a game to try n kill it further well thanks for letting me know that its considered decent i guess after it dies ill calibrate the battery and see what i get after
so ive been trying to figure out how to get the best battery life. i saw that someone got 50+ hours on their phone in the battery life bali kernel thread! they were using juice defender. i tried it on my sisters phone and it definitely makes a difference. the only problem that i am having with juice defender is the issue with cpu speed. i am oc'ing at 1.2ghz, but juice defender is always changes it back to 1ghz...at which point tegrak tries to get it back to 1.2. lol. anyone know how to get past this in the free version? i dont want it impacting tegrak.
I was the one who got 50+ hours.. Just to clarify, I'm not using the bali kernal. I'm on Whitehawkx stock Deodexed KD1 ROM with root, with a lot of bloat removed. My phone is also only about 3-4 weeks old (got it as a refurb from Tmobile), so maybe the fresh battery makes a difference.
As far as JD, I'm not sure how to get around the overclock issue (I'm not OC'd), but I will buy the ultimate version and poke around a bit to see if there are settings for that.
My next charge didn't last as long because I used the phone much more over the holiday weekend, but I still got a bit more than 24 hrs.
This latest charge is going strong though, I'm at 49 hours right now and still have 64% battery left. Haven't used wifi or gps on this charge at all, but did use bluetooth for about an hour or so yesterday while driving. had 14 calls so far in these 2 days (one on the bluetooth), but none of the calls were that long (maybe 5 mins?).
the stats screen currently shows:
display 43%
Cell standby 32%
Phone idle 16%,
Voice Calls 9%
I made a post in the bali thread about things I did to help with battery life, but maybe it would be better if there is a dedicated battery life thread somewhere?
I'm running the free version of jd with it not interfering with my oc (1.2 right now) and I have jd set to "aggressive".

List here what you guys are doing to maximize your battery life. I know people claim crazy hours. So what modifications/programs are you using to achieve your numbers? PLease list:
ME:
ROM:Humble 1.3
Kernel: PeanutButta Jelly Time - OTB Edition
Battery life: 14-16 hours
OC: none. Stock 1ghz
- im on 4G all the time. Normal use. No overclocking. Just straight ROM + Kernel
ROM: Humble 1.3
Kernel: The one that comes with the rom
- Mobile data on, all other radios off
- CDMA mode only, no 4g here
Battery life: 24 hours + easy
I use my phone for most texting with occasional web surfing and some games at work. When I send a lot of texts in one day, my battery life obviously goes down, but I can still make it through a full day with no problem.
Would be really neat if someone would collect 3g battery statistics/battery life and then separately collect 4g battery statistics/battery life and report lengths of time on each....
**4G is a battery monster on any rom**
ROM: Humble 1.3
I'm in a 4G area and I don't like disabling it, so I'm only getting about 6-8 hours, post battery-calibration, with moderate usage. I do try to keep WiFi and Bluetooth disabled whenever I can, and I really wish I could improve those numbers. Very jealous of all of you who are getting these monster numbers...
I have EE4 debloated and I have done nothing but root and I was able to go almost two days on a battery. That was with minimal texting and little calls, but it lasted. My Incredible would not even last six hours with minimal use. With playing games and texting, I easily go a full 8-10 hours and still have between 20-30%.
I'm using Humble 1.3 with non-OC PBJ kernel. I'm getting sick battery life. 18 hours with moderate / heavy use 4G on the whole time (1 hour web browsing, checking email all the time, a few phone calls, 1-2 hours of games, downloading apps, etc). In light to moderate use I get a day and a half and I never disable 4g!
Stock I was struggling to get 10 hours.
What I did:
1) Installed Humble
2) Installed non-OC PBJ kernel (lower voltage than OC kernel)
3) Do proper battery calibration
5) Uninstalled some apps with titanium that were running in the background (Samsung Sync, Samsung Factory test, Visual Voicmail).
6) Set display on minimum brightness.
*7) Donate to Danalo for his awesome ROM
*optional but highly recommended
soooo i took my phone off the charger around 9:15 this morning after letting it die and charging it all night, got home at 4 (don't bring my phone to work since i work at a summer camp), already down to 78%. I had only two messages while i was gone and my e-mail.
Wtf is wrong with my phone/battery?????
how do i get humble??? this is my first smart phone so i've never rooted before and i'm extremely wary of doing it so i'd really like to find something that is extremely thorough
If you guys really want to conserve battery and are around Wifi turn Mobile data off completely and then hook up to Wifi. Ran a test yesterday on Humble 1.3 w/PBJ OTB kernel and it only dropped 5% in just over 7hrs. The reality is the radio is what is killing the battery in most case. Specially if you leave it on 4G and are in a weak signal area. i noticed that last weekend when I was down in the city and had maxed signal all day in $g and the battery life was great. As soon as you start dropping bars or signal it starts eating battery

Try a different rom? I don't use juice defender, and with eaglebloods 2.3.5 rom I get amazing battery life. At least 25% left around 12 hours. But I'm not extremely heavy user but I do email every second I get the chance.

I can get around 14 hours with my CPU set at 800 MHZ, and data/sync off. I text, make calls, listen to some music, and some light gaming with my brightness set at 40%.

If you're getting 8-9 hours with heavy use then that's pretty good. What do your battery usage statistics look like? If you go to Settings > About Phone > Battery Use ... what is using your battery and what are the percentages? Maybe post up a screenshot.
Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Same here man i only get to 5-6 hourf sometimes just 4 thats all,i mean yes half of time im txting but i have my brightnes on auto, running juice defender and also have advance task killer pro. I do multiple emails and time o time on web as well, same as gaming. Im running the rom xboarder OTA GB, what could be my issue :/
Doing it wrong.
EB 2.3.5 + Trinity kernel
Charge your phone before sleeping. Leave it idle while you sleep, unplugged. If the battery stills drains you have an issue. If connected to wifi - shouldn't take more than 20% off your battery. If you have a weak signal, it could drain your battery.
Sounds like you're just always on the phone. Buy an extended battery. $10 on ebay from hong kong.
With moderate usage, in GREAT signal areas and/or wifi I can last 20+ hours. With poor coverage (where I work) I can't go more than 5 or so. The radio seems to eat the battery unless you have a strong connection.
set screen brightness to 25% unless you really need it. set a profile for 312 max/216 min screen off on setcpu. turn off auto sync. use your power control toggles. shut things off when you're not using them. basic smart phone theory. my battery drops 1% every 2.5 hrs. when idle. fwiw, i'm using the stock tweaked rom with updated baseband.
MIUI + Stock kernel = 20 hrs.
....
Uninstall the task killer....its not necessary. That could be eating ur battery. Im a fairly heavy user and i easily get 12 hrs on average.....mainly texting and browsing. I dont make many phone calls

I use this phone mainly for phone calls How crazy does that sound? I get awesome battery life. I'm running stock 2.3.3 and juice defender beta 3.5.9 and I get 14 hours on moderate use. I talk about 2-2.5 hours, send 30 texts, send 3-5 emails, browse for 1 hour, stream music for 1 hour, browse the market for 15-25 minutes, and occasionally play some tegra games (no more than 20 minutes, but this eats the battery up the most).
If you want more battery life, there is a 3500mah battery with a custom cover that should keep you going a full 24hours, its cheap too, but a little bulky. They are talking about it in the accessories section.
I can do 2.5 hours of gaming or 3 hours of browsing, to go from 100% to forced-shut-down. I find setcpu made it worse during idle times. I was using faux uv/oc and I realized performace was noticibly the same when I forced it down to 700mhz, so I did. But, during standby, when before at stock speeds with custom kernel I got 2-3%/hr drain, it was draining upwards of 10% per hour with the speed forced down in setcpu. This is all with the home screen as the open app during standby.
You will find that keeping google maps open (GPS off) during standby leads to a 5-10%/hr drain even though the phone should be doing the exact same thing with the app during standby as the home screen; nothing at all.
I will use the phone sparingly and I had it run out during my work day a few days ago, very embarrassing. I listened to less than 1 hour of music, browsed 30 minutes, used maps with no gps as that is broken anyway for a total of 30 minutes, texted about 40 in/out messages, and talked 20 minutes over 6 phone calls or so. I'll warranty it for the broken gps. Hopefully there are new G2x's out by now and I'll get a new revision or something.
Want to get an idea of battery life with Verizon LTE on the S3. When voting in the poll please include the following of what type of user you are 1) heavy user 2) moderate user 3) barely use the phone aka mostly on standby.
I'm interested in the screen time on, not standby, and only those with LTE access.
heavy user days I get twelve hours
moderate days 15
not at all 2 days.
Heavy user I get 12 hours with 3-5 hours talk time and heavy Internet usage about 2 hours, 14-16 if I cut my talk time and Internet usage down 30% . my rezound with extended battery would last longer larger battery obviously, I think the s3 would have even better battery life if the antennas were better they are very poor compared to my rezound which makes a difference in battery life. But all in all there is noticeable difference in battery advancement with s3 I hope all phones will have battery life like s3 and better

I'd say I'm a heavy user. If its fully charged before i go to work, i dont need to charge it until after i get home(8 hr work day) and i usually plug it in at 10%. 4g, internet, Facebook, YouTube, Kindle, a lot of Google Talk. BUT I do have my screen brightness set extremely low.
Get about 18 hours. Moderate to heavy with screen on 2-2:30. Use phone for some calls, texts, check email, browse Internet, some games on occasion

If you're only interested in screen-on time, then the effects of LTE should be pretty much negligible.
Over 4hrs on Ics and 3hrs with jellybean.
Usually after about 15-16 hours off the charger I am around 45-55%
my mind is blown seeing all of your battery life's.. i get to 10 hours if i'm lucky...
on stock i would get to 12 hours (charged the phone half way through the day for like an hour)
Now that i've rooted / unlocked and flashed Liquid smooth RC7 my battery is dying so much faster.. i have sync, locations, LTE, etc off

I get from 6am to 10am and have anywhere to 15% to 30% left. Moderate to heavy use. I do charge it on my way to work for 25 minutes. Whats weird is the phone lasts longer if I do this. If I use 8-9% before I go to work then charge for 20 minutes on the way it lasts all day. I love the battery life.

If the screen is on because you are using the LTE, you are going to sap the battery much more quickly. I love the LTE, but it is not battery friendly. If you aren't using a lot of network, then you are correct. Most peoples on screen time is because they are using their network though.
Heavy use -about 1 day with 8-9 hours on screen time
Medium use- 2 days minimum
Light use- don't ever use lightly
Oh by the way, this is on an Anker extended battery
