Solution for [car|desk] dock audio output - Fascinate Accessories

For all of you Samsung [car|desk] dock owners who've long been frustrated with the challenge of using the 3.5mm audio output jack on the back of the OEM docks for the Fascinate, even since the froyo update provided a round-about way to make it work, check out this post: "Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector" by xcaliburinhand. Xcaliburinhand is an xda dev working on the Samsung Captivate. Go thank him, donate to him, etc!
Here's the direct link to the Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector app in the market
Thanks also to ddavv for calling attention to this here in the Fascinate forums .

TV-Out Cable (Micro USB to HDMI)

Samsung has a microUSB cable able to release the video signal to HDMI
The accessory is called ECC1HU0BBEBSTD
like this
http://www.myreplicaphone.com/samsung-ecc1hu0bbebstd-tv-out-cable-micro-usb-to-hdmi.html
Nice!!!
I'll search another website to buy it!
Thank you
If anyone finds a retailer that will ship this to uk please post
If anyone finds this in stock anywhere, please let us know.
It's not been officially documented as supported, so i'm still a bit sceptical.
It's unclear if the i9000 supports this AFAIK. It seems at least the Vibrant and Captivate will support it, but no mention of i9000.
See here: http://briefmobile.com/galaxy-s-does-microusb-to-hdmi
I stand corrected. If it works for the yank models, there's no reason why it shouldn't work for us. I knew of the cable before, just didn't think the SGS hardware supported it.
In stock here

However the place looks shady imo.. and doesn't accept paypal.
This place too, but they list 2 model numbers though, so I think it may be the wrong cable (too hard to tell if it's microusb by the image).

EDIT: DON'T BUY! confirmed wrong as instinct has a proprietary jack not micro-usb.

Doesn’t list galaxy s as a compatible product. I saw this a month ago, and dismissed it – without any confirmation, I’m taking this with a pinch of salt.
It seems to me that some blogs just saw the product on their pages, and assumed it would work with the Galaxy S series of phones. If it did work, I think Samsung would have marketed it as such.
I was also very doubtful at first, but the source is samsung usa's website itself... guide to tv-out clearly shows micro-usb to hdmi.

But it doesn't list Galaxy S as a compatible device. Besides, if it was, I think Samsung would have marketed it as such.

Not sure what remocon is.
Holding down the menu button to search is a replacement for the dedicated search key that Google says you must have. (They want 4 buttons: search, home, menu and back)
Tv out via 3.5mm jack was also advertised. Mobile Tracker... That's just software

Look at this vibrant FAQ
http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...ID=310316&PROD_SUB_ID=0&PROD_ID=560&EMAIL_ID=
This link aswell (captivate)... but it has since been removed!?!?! Pretty sure yesterday this FAQ also had the hdmi info 0_0... Maybe samsung has picked up on an error?

Okay, I'm a bit more convinced, but I'd love to see some official / visual confirmation. As they say, seeing is believing.

1. The search button is common for any basic phone which is missing in Galaxy S. Dont you think it would have been a good strategy for Samsung to promote dual functionality of menu in order to appease asthetics?
2. The tv out via 3.5mm was never advertised in UK not online, not in papers not on tv.
3. Mobile tracker is a software which Samsung always promotes with other phones. But Samsung didnt promote the feature which was preinstalled in Galaxy S.
4. remocon is also a "software" where you can control Samsung TVs via your phone.
MicroUSB to HDMI would be nice.
But don't you think it's weird ? I mean TV-out by two different connectors ?
Not at all - I like to call it "fully featured"
After taking the i9000 and Vibrant to bits, i know for a fact these 2 devices are using exactly the same parts to the chip and resistor level, except for the radio.
If the Vibrant has it, the i9000 has it. (and vice versa)
Didn't take apart the Captivate yet, but i bet it's also identical.
I'd take the plunge and buy the cable to report to everyone, but it's not available in my country.
Anyone felling like taking one for the team?

This phone sprouts magnificent levels of hidden awesomeness.
I sent a direct message on twatter to @samsungesteban (sp?), and he said that he'll find out if it's supported.

sgs and creative aurvana live

is it worth to buy aurvana live ? i am going to use it with sgs. someone said me that our minijack output hasn't enough power to work with aurvana, is it true?
Check this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774500 In the thread someone stated to be driving his Sennheiser HD 555 with this modded kernel. This is the first quick implementation with unlocked amplifier. Many other features will come soon. As this is a modified kernel, take your time to read the whole thread.

I can haz keyboardz?

Can I use a Bluetooth keyboard with the Inspire on ATT?
Is there one that connects to the Inspire via Micro USB and is powered directly?
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance. I know I'm stupid.
*Is interested in thread.
You can if the bluetooth keyboard is HID compliant and you have a rom which enables this features I.E cyanogen mod seems to work.
If you are looking for a good keyboard, I have a microsoft mobile 6000 bluetooth keyboard that I have been trying to sell. I bought it for 60 dollars but I only used it once so it's been sitting in the box this whole time. I'm selling it for 30 dollars. I posted it up a week or two ago on the forums but nobody seemed interested. If you're interested feel free to PM me.

[Q] How's the Infuse's audio quality and DAC?

Does it have a Wolfson DAC like the Nexus S and the original Galaxy S phones? Or does it have the lesser-quality Yamaha DAC from the Galaxy S II?
I'm curious if we'll ever see something like supercurio's Voodoo Sound for the Infuse. Would be a nice upgrade from my Vibrant, but not worth giving up the killer sound from the Wolfson WM8994 DAC in my phone.

yes it does but voodoo sound is not supported yet. supercurio is woring on it he has tweeted that the infuse has the wolfson dac and will get the voodoo treatment starting with voodoo sound, but he needs to include support for soo many devices while developing new features and similtaneously developing on the sgs2. his hands are full.
Thanks for the quick reply. Good to hear, and yeah, I can imagine he's got his hands pretty full right now. supercurio if you're reading this, huge thanks for everything that you do for us here, it's really awesome to have you keeping tabs on this stuff and writing cool software to provide what the manufacturers should have.
In any case, that's awesome to hear that the Infuse is packing GS1 audio. Hopefully that means it'll be a viable option for audio nerds where the GS II wasn't.
Reviving an old but good thread title.
What audio quality are people experiencing on the Infuse with headphones?
Voodoo control is now available as an app for the Infuse. I'm still sussing out the details about roms, kernels and whatever?

Hello!
In order to use Voodoo Control with the Infuse, you must...
-have a compatible voodoo-supporting rom
-have a voodoo kernel
The setup i usually use is the stock Froyo rom with 3e modded recovery found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021) and the v8 community kernel, found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119598)
This delivers an excellent overall experience, and when coupled with decent quality headphones gives a fantastic audio output. Hope this helps!

Would it be possible for headphone controls to be hacked on?

Before I start a kickstarter project to convince a developer/hacker to try to and do it, I'd want to know if it's at least possible. WP7 has seen many great hacks and tweaks (all thanks going to the wonderful devs) and this would be one I'd pay to see.
BTW I'm talking of the Klipsch s4i (or any iPod remote headphones) and I want to see volume as well as play/pause. Is it possible?

The earphones that came with my Samsung Omnia 7 had this, but I lost them
