Lock your Inspire to wcdma/hspa/3g towers only! Fast speeds, HSPA UNLOCK! - HTC Inspire 4G

I got my HTC fully working with the links provided below.
All HTC Inspire stock phones come with HSPA LOCK, you must unlock HSPA
starting with these steps:
Follow these steps.
1.
*ROOTED
*ENG SOFF
(I use this method, and works perfect: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406)
*I use Radio- 26.06.04.06_M, share
(link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295&page=50)
*HSPA UNLOCKED
(get stock/rooted/hspa unlock rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042) flash it
and update it, then.
*and i use Cm 7.2 ROM
*Once you have that, LOCK YOUR DEVICE TO ALL NEW WCDMA/HSPA TOWERS ONLY!
*Also connects to edge, etc.etc. if your not hspa/wcdma area.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* on the dailer.
Select Phone Information.
Scroll down to "Set Preferred Network Type".
Select WCDMA Only. and hit home and reboot,
works, its easy and u your inspire is SICK!
thanks to xda, and cyanogen mod again!
I hope this helps

That works great if you are in a 100% 3G area. I have quite a few spots where my phone is on edge daily.

what are u getting on ur 3g? got the latest radios? i am in orlando FL so we got 4g3g BIG! I see AT&T and SImple mobile/tmobile phones run 2-3mb on speed test, which ain bad...considering at&t has no true 4G yet...

will this save battery by not having to search for E and 3g? What if I'm in a place with E only?

I live in orlando we have IT ALL, AND ALL KINDS OF NEW TOWERS!
Verizon 4g Works
Sprint 4G works
Tmobile works
ATT is the only "4g network" on HSPA, until they get LTE i believe and i hope.
if your in an area that only picks up edge towers, then unfortunetly your out of luck, but if u travel in area with 3g itll work, meaning itll work with EDGE areas if u apply the setting

Here are a series of tests.

I cant get mine passed 4.3MB,

POST YOUR RADIO AND SPEEDS PLZ! i hope AT&T gets as fast as verizon eventualy, and i hope i see 5mb soon! lol

I did it 3 times with it it set to WCDMA only and 3 times with it set to WCDMA preferred. I averaged 2662 kbps and 2439 kbps with my upload averaging right at 1280kbps for both. Not a huge difference, and it's in an acceptable range of error for it to be anomalous. Might make a difference around town though.
EDIT: Just got my fastest speed with it set to preferred.

Wow. This is fail.

Super Slow 3G, someone help!

Alright. I got my Fuze about a week ago. Since I started using it I noticed that my 3G speed is extremely slow. It takes forever for youtube videos to load and when I do a speed check at dslreports.com/mspeed I only get an average of 50Kbits/sec!!! This is on 3G with full service. I was using a BlackjackII and with it I always got about 900-1100kbits/sec and youtube videos loaded in just a few seconds. It's like I am dialup now that I switched to the FUZE. I talked to HTC and they said it had to be the carrier, which is BS in my opinion. When I am at my house I only have EDGE and it works as expected, about 150kbits/sec, sometimes higher.
I have already upgraded to ROMeOS and it is much smoother and drastically improved battery life but didn't help my 3G speed problem.
Anyone have any ideas on what could help me? I am not familiar with changing the radio, is that something that might help?
Thanks,
Sam
It's still possible that this is a provider issue, maybe they cap their 3G speeds at 50kbit/s?
When my phone switches to 3G reception, the signal strength decreases.
Maybe that can be an issue too?

I don't think so, that would be false advertisement. And besides, sitting here at my desk at work with my blackjackII just over a week ago I could bet 1000kbits/sec easily.
Man, I really love this fuze, but it is pointless to have it if I can't use 3g.
first go to settings
connections
advanced network. make sure hsdpa/hsupa are enabled
and if that dont help sometimes roms get better speeds
im on proven and ive gotten over 1000 before so give it a shot
I just tried it both ways...enabled and disabled. 30-50kbits/sec both ways. I had the same problem with ATT stock ROM and now with the ROMeOS. Do you think a diffrent ROM would help?
what does your phone say at the top
e or 3g or h?
and roms do effect it but it could even be your area
have you tried it different places?

When I have HDSPA enabled it says H, then under it says 3G AT&T. If I disable it then it says 3G instead of H.
id say try out another rom
even different versions of the same vary.
one of the older proven roms i only got like 400 on 3g then the next it was up over 1000

Maybe it's your SIM card. I know that when I got the orange SIM card my speeds were absolute ****e. Its pretty obvious why when if you just take a look at the size of the gold contact. Needles to say my problems went away once I got a new blue SIM.

3G/H vs. 4G ---- Tmobile One S rooted question

Whenever I rooted my One S the cell signal display changed to 3G/H vs the 4G cell display I had with the stock tmobile htc one s rom. My question is if this is only a display change or am I actually getting a signal speed and coverage loss with the new rom I rooted on my phone. Thank YOU!!
I am not sure how you rooted, but it looks like you installed the euro version or something
T-Mobile USA has a 3G UMTS network, they just changed the icon to always display "4G", the ROM you flashed shows you more details of what youre really connected to atm than T-Mobile thinks you need to know
3G usually means a UMTS rel.99 connection at max 384 Kbit/s, used for voice or data and saves you battery.
H means HSPA which is also a UMTS 3G technology for faster data, and for eating your battery. Up to 42Mbit download at tmous iirc. (Best case scenario ofc!)
Okay, so I don't have any speed loss just because I may be on a euro rom..... Correct?

Can you do a speed test. I have the same issue- only because I have my wifes unrooted/stock one s I know there is an issue. She gets a consistent 13 mbps and I am only getting 5 mbps. I've tried different radios (EU vs Tmous) and kernels (fusion) and roms (Maximus vs Viper vs Trickdroid) and I'm not sure what to do next. I am not able to get 4g speeds after have unlocked/rooted...

Yeah that's a rom issue, it's also there on Trickdroid. They claim otherwise and blame it on HTC. I've ran both 2.21 and 2.31 RUU, stayed stock but rooted and never had that problem.

LTE not working

Hi,
I've the verizon m8 outside the Us. In my country the LTE network has started to work during the past week and its 1800 mhz/ channel 3.
My htc is s-off, root ofcourse, viper rom but I cant get any reception with LTE!
accordint to htc sites, the verison m8 is truely support 1800 mhz,
So how can I get lte on my phone?
And please don't blow my mind with "why did you bought verizon model if you're not using verizon", It doesn't matter now. I've already bought my m8 and it's from verizon, it was cheaper to buy.
Nobody knows?
Europe freinds?
I'm almost in the same boat as you, I'm using Verizon m8, rooted, soff, supercid and then I installed android revolution hd 8.1 international version. I got lte band 4 working ok as well as calls, sms, mms, e.t.c.
Sent from my C811 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I've also tried to flash the WWE radio on my verizon m8 but after 1-2 minte the device got reboot again and again, so flashing radio didn't help.
Nobody has a solution? Verizon said the the m8 support 1800 mhz - band 3, so there must be a way to enable it.

Hey,
Just got back from Europe. I wasn't able to get LTE over there, only hsupa/hsdpa. I installed nv rom and was able to change the bands, and got my data working. Now that I'm back in the U.S. (as of 12 horus ago), I'm unable to get service, go figure. I was using the newest verizon radios and they worked fine.

Yes, I've also done that. the phone got no signal and reboot itself after 2 minutes. flashing radios doesn't work with cdma phones. I've also tryed install gpe rom (i fought that maybe the sense 6.0 has problem) also didn't work

[GUIDE] Fixing OPO CM11S modem problem

*** After gathered most of the comments around, I think only China version OPO having this problem ***
Some of you may encounter some problems as me while running on CM11s (Regardless of version 22Q/22R/25R)
These are the symptoms that you may encounter if your modem are not running correctly.
4G = Data connection alright, but unable to make any calls. (While trying to call, "Out of service area" will be displayed)
3G = Data connection not stable, signals are dropping, calls are dropping.
2G = Both Data and Call network are fine, but no one is going to use 2G in a high performance phone like our OPO.
These steps "MAY" or "MAY NOT" work on your phone, I'm not a very professional guy in android development. But I am here to sharing my experiences in solving this problem
1) Download the modem bin file from this link (This is extracted from CM11 Snapshot m8 - https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=bacon)
You can download the zip file from there. then extract "NON-HLOS.bin" from the zip file
Here I provide you a mediafire link for quicker access:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/uukgumzi2hf6ey5/NON-HLOS.bin
2) Copy "NON-HLOS.bin" into same directory as fastboot.exe
3) Boot your OPO into fastboot mode.
4) Follow the steps in the CMD of this attached photo

P/S: there are a lot of guides which make your phone connect with your PC thru adb interface. so you can google around these information.
Again I'm not an expert, but I got these working, there are risks of bricking/damaging your phone. so take care
Thank you! I'll give it a try

As far as i know, No. it's more on the hardware side (chipset). it can't be fixed via any software.
You can refer to this.

dude, there's no way to do it via flashing anything. it's the hardware.
I'm having a similar issue but my phone is the International not the Chinese version, I assumed I couldn't make calls on 4g because T-mobile VoLTE isn't out yet. I'm very tempted to try this to see if it solves my terrible reception issue. What are the risks in doing this?

I think, there is almost no risk of doing this. if this can't work on your phone. you can just simply swap the modem with the others one.
Thank you man. You are my God. Works fine and you solve my problem.
What problem did you have? I'm on AT&T and have trouble keeping strong LTE compared to other phones. My phone will drop to H+ and get stuck in H a lot.

I was messing around flashing roms(last flash was oneplus aosp) with twrp and I lost my modem(baseband) and do not have voice or data. I tried flashing just NON-HLOS.bin but did not regain the baseband. What to do?
I was having terrible connection issues when I received my Opo.
I ended up flashing the latest CM nightly, since it includes the radio now, and that greatly improved my connection.
Before at home I was going 50% with no signal. Now it doesn't drop. I used the 7/24 build. Then went back to my PA backup.

Awesome! This is encouraging to hear. The radio issues are my biggest gripe with the phone. Even right now as I type this it's jumping between H and H+ when I should have LTE.
Is there a separate radio file from the nightlies we can flash in the mean time?
Edit: OK LTE is back!

poor reception
I flashed this modem but problem still exist. I don't have 4g coverage in my area so I basically use 3g (HSDPA+) and I noticed that the signal strength is not quite as good as other phones in the same area. And signal strength goes up and down all the time, from -80 dBm to -107 dBm and sometimes even switches to the 2g (EDGE). Also noticed that if the phone is downloading data signal strength is good, around -80 dBm. In idle signal strength goes down and became poor, around -101 dBm.
Thank you - works a treat!
Would I be right in saying that if I factory reset my phone, I would keep the radio I flashed rather than revert back to the original as it has been overwritten?
Thanks

I'm using China version. But I don't think there is difference, people on official oneplus forum have the same inconsistent reception signal.
Yes, this modem behaves better than older versions, but still not as good as other phones.

No Data with Custom Rom

Hello. So I purchased the Photon Q and have it activated, yes, all the basics. Anyway, when I flash a cyanogenmod rom, I lose my data. Is this an issue with other photon q users? or just me? Data works perfect under the stock 4.1.2 rom, but not under cm. I'm running TWRP recovery, and yes, I'm rooted.
I assume you're on Sprint? Have you checked the APN list? (Although I didn't need to do anything to get the latest to work with data, it "just worked").
Are you using the latest version of CM as well, the 'jbbl' editions?
On cm data problems always happen. It's not that stable for CDMA users = =

Hm, been solid here. I've tested it in all sorts of conditions too - I was out to sea (but somewhat close to land) and getting a lot of roaming connections... I was even able to squeeze data out of those connections.
LTE works when I'm in cities, although I do get dropped to 3g quite a bit - I'm not sure if that's an issue with Sprint's LTE penetrating buildings or what. But I can't say that having a custom ROM has affected my data negatively - now you are on a m7, which I know those devices have moved between unified and not unified... Our unified devices, at least on my Photon Q's, has been great - no issues that I could attribute directly to software, other than maybe some weak wifi reception (like in airports) which could again be the device itself.

Well you're not really providing much detail, any logs, haven't stated if you have clean flashed....
Won't even check the APN list? I can't really help you then.
Sorry, I clean flashed the last time that I installed it. I don't have any logs, because I haven't thought to take any. I haven't checked the APN list because Since the phone is CDMA, I didn't know where to look. I will flash again and give it all another try.

Tis weird either way, I've never had to set anything up. Data always 'just worked'. If it works in stock, should work in the custom ROM's... at least it always has for me on Sprint!

That's the funny thing, That's what all of i've read on here says. But for some reason, I can't get any data. And when I flash back to stock, I have to unactivate it, then re-activate it again to get my data to work.

Uhm... what do you mean "un"-activate it...?
I've never had to do that either. My phone has always been active whether I RSD Lite back to stock or use a backup to nandroid back to stock.

By "unactivate", i mean literally replace it with another phone, then re-activate it. The phone connects on Sprint's towers, however i use Kroger's i-wireless. So reactivation and phone swticthing is fairly easy.
At the moment, i am running cm11 nightly, and it appears to be working alright with data for now.
Okay @arrrghhh, now I am pretty sure you mentioned getting switched to 3g data a lot. I can't change my APN settings, the option is greyed out. How do I switch to 4g?
I'm asking because my area gets 4g when I'm on stock.

Look at your network mode. There's no "LTE", so of course you'll never see 4g as the Q is not capable of WiMax - LTE is the only "4g" network you'd see.

But GSM is the only network mode that seems to provide me data. Any option with GSM. I haven't found a LTE+GSM option
See below, my test menu shows that LTE+GSM is selected

I guess try 'Global'?
I have mine set to CDMA + LTE/EvDo - as Sprint does not provide any sort of GSM service whatsoever, so I would never need to connect to a GSM network.

Okay, So I've tried LTE/CDMA (auto) after discovering that it DOESN'T USE GSM, but any option that has LTE in it doesn't seem to work. And How do I install the new msm_8960 cm11 roms? are those the ones marked jbbl?I've downloaded and will install the jbbl edition, maybe it'll fix some of the issues i've been having. I was running the "xt897" version. Speaking of, what's the difference between the xt897 and xt897c? builds?

Wait, what? Why are you using ancient builds...
You need to use the jbbl edition. The xt897/c builds are ancient and should not be used - it was when we needed separate builds for CDMA and GSM.
If you're on Sprint, you are correct - there's no GSM. The chip in the phone is only used for international roaming, if you have it enabled.

I got 4G LTE working by removing all of my APNS and using an apns-conf file from a friend with the same service, Now, however, my MMS is broken. How do I fix?

You're still on CM11? The apns-conf file CM provides should work fine.
You can try a third party app like chomp SMS, but if you're hacking up APN's/apns-conf it's not surprising that you broke MMS.
