Not quite finding exactly what you want in your EVO 4G ROM? Want a little more or a little less? Want to just feel like you’re doing something? Get ready for The Droid Demos Community EVO 4G ROM! Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be taking suggestions on what YOU want in your ROM. Some of the things we want you to choose are:

1+ to that.. Its not to many AOSP devs out there.. i would like to see a truly AOSP rom. not just parts of sense remove and call it "senseless"

Definetly an AOSP rom with all working stock functions, 4g, HDMI, cameras.
OC'able kernel with FPS Fix and themed, (ManUp is awesome)
It would just be real nice to get a bare bones AOSP with everything working and we can decide on the apps.

Themed...not so great. leave it unthemed so we can decide on a theme ourselves. Im not particularly fond of clear notification bars and lock screens myself.
I would also like an AOSP rom, hopefully as bare as possible, without any sense/htc elements.
The most important things for me are speed (response), battery life, and stability.
It should only include the essential apps, maybe with whatever apps others vote on if there is a high enough demand, with anything that is not absolutely necessary uninstallable.
It should also incorporate any upgrades/fixes that will improve stock settings, though it is understandable that most of these come from custom kernels.
I would definitely not want it to be themed. People can install themes if they want but I think it would work better for everyone if they could choose what they want on their phone.
A second post aggregating as many of the add-ons/themes/apps/fixes devs here at xda have made would also be really useful.
All in all, I am really hopeful, since there aren't many AOSP roms and there seems to be a good demand for one.
AOSP Fresh. Flipz fresh evo rom is the best. I would rather see it without sense or any htc apps except what is needed, if any, for all functions to work. I like cyanogen but it isn't fully functional on the evo. So, Fresh AOSP all stock. User can change theme etc...

I'm not really sure why AOSP gets all the love it gets...it's just not my thing. Looks boring and cheap BUT thats just me.
I'm not a huge fan of the sense launcher or the rosie dock but the widgets can't be matched no matter how many apps you download =p
But honestly, there are plenty of nice sense based roms here...I'm not sure there is anything else that could really be done to improve on them...so an AOSP would prolly be my vote.
IMO, I would rather see more themes...nobody likes to theme the EVO it seems..
Is there a possibility of getting the new Samsung Captivate lockscreen on the EVO? It's a neat little lockscreen if you havent seen it. It is a little puzzle piece that you place in the correct spot to unlock. Looks cool. can we get this working?

I would like this also. I have an Evo and love it, but I had an Evo for a couple of weeks before I told AT&T to shove their limited data plan. Anyway, I really like the puzzle piece lockscreen and I'd like to get it on my Evo.
I also like the lockscreen it actually changes depending on if you have a notification or not. like for a message its a certain puzzle piece and I believe you can just slide something if you dont have any notifications. I dont remember exactly how it worked a friend of mine has one and as soon as i saw the lockscreen I thought it was awesome.

This is my first thread, but I think it's a pretty badass request.
I am a DIEHARD Myn Warm TwoPointTwo user, and I won't stray...except when I went to MIUI to see what this "whole new" UI was about. I didn't care for it anywhere near as much as Myn's, however the lockscreen is the best one I've seen since OWNING a smart phone.
Other lockscreens work on our EVO....rotory, vanilla, and through an app the iphone. MIUI is already on our EVO, can someone just find the code and bring it to us (JsChiSurf )
I am sure I am not alone on this request...lol, if you ever tried MIUI and came back to a sense ROM you know the lockscreen from MIUI is brilliant and should be available to us all.

I would like to see that as well. I believe I've seen similar features on some lock screens but non as well done as MIUI.

Yeah, I forgot about the equalizer part...that was HOT! I also like the charging effects...while charging it has some awesome animation going on.

For those who don't know about this LOCKSCREEN....nandroid backup, and flash MIUI - do some charging and look at the lock screen. Then listen to music and look at the lockscreen. Nandroid restore...and tell me you dont want that lockscreen on your ROM!!

I've never personally used MIUI but from what I have read people either love it or hate it. Why do you want it so much? What are the benefits?
its AOSP and the UI is different from the android we are used to here in the US. Even if you use a different launcher. Lots of extra features and customization to be done also.

I've used it.. and loved it on my G2. It's android with the iPhone polish man. Lots of great eye candy, downloadable boot animations themes, wallpapers, ringtones, notifications, etc... all built in. a GREAT task management/settings/net traffic tracker... built in.
I would suggest you give it a shot when it comes out. TONS of features.

If you like a smooth clean polished and highly customizable UI (a lot of the work done for you.. it eliminated my need for quite a few apps I use for system management)... you'll like this.
if you want to run a stock vanilla form of android that allows YOU to do all of the tweaking and enjoy adb pushes and coding... run CM7 (which is also a FANTASTIC option)
I personally liked how aesthetically pleasing miui is. But I bought an android device to run android os not ios ;-)

Right.. that's my point. it doesn't LOOK like iOS.. but i don't think ANYONE would argue that iOS has a lot more "love in the UI details" (ie... POLISH.. it's nice looking and consistently so). While android.. is definitely a hacker/programmers UI. VERY tweakable and functional.. just not that nice looking.
the resemblance it iOS is really peoples only objection to MIUI but the fact is that's only the default launcher. change the launcher and its no longer an issue.
Really?!? people think it looks like iOS?!? why because they're no app drawer? that's literally the only thing I can think of that's like iOS that isn't part of android anyway. (they both have dockable apps at the bottom, they both have a status bar with signal/time/date/etc). otherwise.. it's just Android with some UI love (polish). that's IT.. and like you said.. you can change the launcher.. but i don't see a reason to.
True. The only other thing is the way they changes the ticking system to the tab system. That's all i can think of.

the icons themselves have an iPhone feel to them as well. as for the launcher.. that comes down to preference.

I'm quite aware of that. I'm pro-MIUI.. Had it on my Vibrant since it was released for the phone. I was just saying the default theme is what turns people off of the ROM upon first glance.
There are lots of benefits to MIUI. For starters it usually runs VERY fast. It was the first rom to include toggles in the notification menu (CM7 does this now too). Also the menu's are no longer 6 squares, but listed. The whole OS is themable (CM7 is now too).
I am not particularly fond of the homescreen setup (No App Drawer) because all of your apps are on your desktop like iOS. The stock launcher is basically the same as iOS except you can put icons anywhere and supports widgets.
The Icons are very pretty and large, which I like.
You can accomplish most of this by using CM7, a good CM7 theme, and ADW EX with a MIUI theme.
I'm all about more custom roms. I enjoyed MIUI for a few days but damn CM7 nightlies always have me going back to try out the new features.
MIUI is a lot more than a simple skin. As others have said, its blazing fast, has amazing features built in (I really like being able to control all of my connections by the dropdown bar and even being able to reboot and such through the same bar) and is extremely polished.
The availability of themes can make it decidedly un-iOS very easily. The customization options built into the ROM are absolutely insane and I have it on my Inspire as well as my Captivate - I really hope someone picks it up and ports it to the G2x.
In comparison to most other devices, development on the G2x seems to be pretty slow overall which is a huge bummer. I guess too many people are busy constantly exchanging their devices to actually get cracking on development. *eye roll*
Does anyone know a way to get the original captivate lockscreen on a custom rom? Or know any roms that contain it?
This was the glass lockscreen with puzzle pieces that take you directly to a missed call or sms. (different from the regular puzzle lockscreen many roms currently have, that are puzzle even with no missed activity)
allllllot of roms have it as an option im prettey sure cm7 has it but not 100% and if your confident with bootloaders and going to gingerbread subpression and simply sgs2 both have 9 lockscreen options including the glass and puzzle locks

It doesn't. Along with a laundry list of other things.
I also have been looking for this to add back to my custom ROM. I am on cognition and the glass screen provides no puzzle piece link to missed calls or texts. I like the puzzle lock on this rom though.
I was previously on Continuum v4 and v4.1 and that rom DOES have the original samsung glass lock screen. Overall though, I prefer cognition so I can live with the puzzle lock which does do the links to calls or texts.

Look for a rom that has it. Most Tom's with multi lock screens have it as an options except for CM Tom's which will never have it as it is a touchwiz feature
Andromeda 3 has it and several others.
