Hi Fellows, when I installed the OTA I lost the "HAC" feature which didn't work in the original software and was supposed to have been fixed in this update. I talked to HTC support and they asked me if I knew of anyone else loosing the "HAC" when they did the update. I told them I didn't know but I would ask.
Can anyone that has installed this update look in "Settings" under "Call" and see if you have "Hearing Aids" with the letters "HAC" in small print underneath it.
HTC thinks that there might be a glitch in the update, especially if others have lost the "HAC" to.
Thanks for your time.
capman231
It is not listed on mine either.
Thanks Joe, if one or two more have lost it besides me, HTC said they would have to revisit the update, as there must be somekind of glitch in it.
capman231
I don't see it either
I do not have this setting either.
Neither do I.

Thanks Fellows, I think HTC thought I screwed up the update but this many people with the same problem puts it back in HTC's court.

Hi Fellows, thanks for posting about the HAC going away. HTC has asked me to send the six numbers listed on the software information page after doing the update and I have already re-installed my original (Ingersol 2.4) software back on the phone, Can some one that has a stock phone with the update give me those six numbers please.
Thanks for your time.

Sometimes when I click on "Messages" and then click on a thread I wish to view a totally different thread gets opened. I know it's not my finger because the thread that would open is oftentimes nowhere close to the one I clicked on. Several times I've inadvertently sent an SMS to the wrong recipient, which resulted in several comical situations.
Has anyone experienced this issue? I've tried to search the forum but didn't come up with anything.

This is a Froyo (and maybe before) issue and not an issue on "every android phone". Once you upgrade to a custom Gingerbread Rom or the official Gingerbread update (as of today this isn't out yet) you will see this problem go away.
It seems to be a problem with all android phones no matter the rom. It did it on my rooted Droid 1 also. Go sms pro is a good replacement for stock. Rooted or not it fixes the problem and has a lot more options.

Roger that, I have the same issue. Also, I moved to the T-bolt from an Evo and the Evo with Froyo had the same problem. As soon as I installed CM7 on the Evo, the problem was gone.
I'd say try using GO SMS Pro. Much better than the stock messaging application.
NY sisters captivate wont receive texts she can send them but not receive. AT&T told her to download something called kaies mini (sp) to her computer and I'm not sure she was confused explaining it. Does anybody have any clue about this?
Also is there any speculation about when the update to allow sideloading is going to come for captivate?

Samsung kies mini is to update the phones firmware. Is she still running eclair? Still not being able to receive messages shouldn't be because she is running eclair. But nonetheless the phone should be updated. Heres instructions how.

Glad I could be somewhat of a help. If the problem still exist I'm sure someone will come around to help you out further.
My Cappy did this twice before. The first one was fixed by pulling the battery while the phone was on. Powered back on and got flooded with all my missed texts. Second time, I had to put my SIM in another phone, got the flood, put it back and everything was normal.
Thanks I told her to try the battery trick and it didn't work and unfortunately she dont have another att phone around yo stick the Sim in so she will go to the store and try it tomorrow

she can call the carrier up and have them basically re-activate the phone. I've done this 3 times to fix the same problem.
When I had to do it, I just put the SIM in a buddy at work's P.O.S. RAZR. Worked like a charm. She must know SOMEONE who has AT&T. Just borrow theirs for a minute.

Check the "Message Centre" section on the SMS settings. When I left the country and came back it wiped this number from my phone making everything fail. Probably not the issue but might be a good idea to check.

hey my wife just got this phone; it's a real good phone. it flies with opening and closing apps. there is one problem tho....it does random reboots for some reason. have any one else had this issue? i'm almost considering exchanging it for a new one, but it may have the same results. anyone else relate?
I got a couple randome reboots. I am using ADW launcher so im trying to blame that. Im just hoping that once these devices are rootable new software will make a big difference.
I'm running everything stock , no other launchers and I've had the same issues, not sure what's causing it though but people like steffan definitely aren't going to help with their unnecessary and rude posts. On the other hand I've sent a few bug reports related to this issue and hope that HTC addresses them if not once the bootloader is unlocked we should be able to address it then.

Hell no I won't help in this thread because this same exact thing is being discussed elsewhere and this new thread is starting from square one with absolutely nothing relevent or pertinent in finding a solution of dissecting the problem to its root cause, so no I won't help but continue to flame/bash/troll new threads like these...

Not to get in a flame war with you as that would be counter productive, but instead of posting 2 unnecessary posts now it would have been more helpful to have linked him to this thread you mention instead of treating him the way you did.

I agree there is absolutely no reason to react that way to the OP. If you don't like his thread then DON'T RESPOND TO HIM. It's really that simple. When people makes posts that I don't think they should have, I simply say nothing and let the thread die.
Now back on topic: OP I have not had a random reboot at all yet. Thus far my phones have been perfect from a stability standpoint (I've had 3 different ones so far). In case you're wondering, I had 3 different ones because I was offered better deals at different places.
Already 11 days since bought this babe..nope, no reboot problem so far. A little hot 40++C, but normal i think since its never reach 50C.
Really another threat?
Link please?

Same issue here I bought my HTC Sensation when it launch on the bell network July 5, 2011. The first one (and yes I said first one) kept randomly shutting down the day I got it keeps restarting and says and I quote " This phone has just recovered from an abnormal reset. Would you like to tell HTC about it? " Now this was happening like 3-4 times a day so I took the unit back and got a new one fresh out the box and...you know where I'm going with this...same issue so how can I fix this problem? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or flash the unit?
I had that problem . some apps kill the system .
one of the apps i noticed that did this was Task Killers
My phone rebooted once when I was browsing the forums, but that's it. I hope it doesn't happen again.
Swyped from my HTC Sensation
Mine randomly reboots. Seems to happen mostly when I'm listening to music. Or maybe thats when I notice it.
I was thinking of sending it back but I wonder if my sd card had something to do with this issue. I did not reformat it when I took it out of my blackberry.
The very first day I got my sensation it rebooted itself twice, since that it never do it again, and I hope it will not.

I had this issue with my first phone, I called HTC and they just told me to return it for a new one and I did. No problems now.
Those of you yet to receive your sideloading update, I come bearing good news. I logged on to my ATT account and contacted tech support online using the chat feature.
I explained to the representative that I had yet to receive the silent update that gives me the ability to install 3rd party applications. She asked me to wait 2-3 minutes while she pushes the update to my phone. After 3 minutes, she had me reboot my phone and voila! Unknown sources is finally there. Swype 3.0 is now on my phone.
Hope this method works for those tired of waiting.

You are so correct in this matter, I had mine done before it was even a week old. I have not looked back.
Glad yours worked. I'm over 24 hours later after they pushed it to mine and its still not there. Question tho. After you rebooted it did a POP up show up that read "PWR OFF/ON" with ok and cancel buttons on it?
Edit: called in again today and within my 20 minute phone call I now have unknown source woot woot.

Sideloading update
Just got done chatting with a ATT rep online. Everything went smooth and got Unknown Sources within 5 min.
I did the exact same thing last week. Took about 5-10 minutes with the online chat rep. She knew exactly what I was talking about, said she had to have her sup approve it and bam, there it was! Quick, easy and painless!
One of my friends tried doing this and they denied her the update, saying that she will never get it. I just rooted my phone because I got tired of waiting. I'd definitely recommend looking into rooting your phone, you can get more benefits (better battery life, phone performance, etc.).
Tell your friend to try again.

Freakin' AT&T. I've rooted both my Inspire and my wife's Xperia over this.
help z4root
ok tried z4root but of course my att HTC inspire won't let me open it so I can open my non market download. what do I do now?
They just told me 24 to 48 hours and the phone should have the update. Not feeling confident!
I did this a couple of days ago. It took me a solid hour and four reps before I finally got someone who figured out how to push the update. Once they pushed it, I checked the phone and it was there right away.
I also found out that if you ask for the PMC (Product Management Center?), they know about the update and it may save you some time.
Just did this, longest part was waiting on the phone to reboot. I made sure to indicate I was looking to have the update pushed that allowed Unknown Sources on my Android device before I clicked to chat. Agent immediately pushed it.
Z4root will not work on this phone.

I called and got mine pushed (right after it was first heard of), but it took two reboots to show up. Might be worth a try for those of you who are having trouble. Or just root your phones hah.
My story was straight forward and it didn't take longer than typing this.
Opened my account online at the PC.
Support - Online chat.
Typed what I wanted "Sideloading app to install non market apps".
Dialed *#06# to give the supporter my IMEI.
Supporter confirmed IMEI in the system.
Asked if Wi-Fi is off.
A few seconds later "Unknown sources" was active.

So I just got a Nexus S 4g on Monday and my dad and I already rooted the phone and have been trying different roms. He actually rooted it and swapped out the stock rom before I even knew I was getting it.
So with both of the roms I have tried, whenever i recieve an incoming call the speakerphone automatically activates and I have to manually turn it off.
We already tried reflashing the rom and we have also tried replacing a lib***.so file (forget which one) and neither fixed the problem. I cant find any sort of setting for this.
Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix available that someone can guide me? Very new to Android so I'm still learning the tricks of flashing etc.
Just curious...did you test the phone before it was rooted.

I received the phone on monday evening and my dad had the phone all day and routed it etc.
I never handled the phone with the stock rom. Its not too big a deal since I don't use it for much calling but a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Well it seems like you don't know if this problem has always existed or if it is a result of flashing a custom rom. Best bet would be go back to completely stock and see if you still have the problem.

I'm having the same problem running a stock version of Android.
I started to have the same problem few days ago and my phone is all original stock, ,,
my wife just started experiencing this today. completely stock nexus s. we may try uninstalling the last few apps that had updates and see if we can trace it to one of those.
edit: are any of u using go sms (specifically version 3.66)? other users are complaining that recent update is causing this issue. im sending my wife a backed up version i have of 3.65 to see if its resolved
edit 2: rolling back to 3.65 did not resolve the issue, but rolling back to 3.64 did. good thing i have appmonster pro.....
I just started to have this problem today too. I did try to activate GoogleVoice yesterday but the calling issue did not begin until today. Running MATR1X v.6 and CM7 nightly #83. Didn't have this problem during stock.
Go sms's latest update is the culprit. The August 29 th update is responsible. Just uninstall that and put some other sms app.
Should solve it, It fixed my phone.
it happened to me twice yesterday, I answer the phone the screen went black and the sound routed to the speaker..can't go back to turn it off during the call as the screen has nothing. (stock rooted)...will uninstall GoSMSPro and see how it goes
If anyone needs/wants the 3.64 version of GO SMS, dm me you're email addy. (i'm assuming this would be ok on XDA since the app is FREE in the market?)
They (GoSMS) just released an update 3.66 to fix the problem

Its still exists on 3.66. My wife was using this version and it had the problem. We had to roll back to 3.64 before it went away.
u were right, Go SMS was the issue, they released an update today and solved the problem!
cheers everyone!
Glad I saw this thread... my G2 started doing this after not changing the ROM in months, at least now I know what caused it. I got my Nexus S yesterday and haven't answered any calls without the headset yet, lol, so I thought it was just my G2.
