how to turm off complety HTC Windows Mobile 6.5.3? - General Topics

It drives me nuts but I can not turn off my HTC Phone with Windows Mobile 6.5???
When I long press the side button it lunches the app Slide2shutdown and when I slide the appropriate button to turn of the phone goes in standby mode, because I short press of the side on/off button turns the screen on.

I tried a lot of other apps but still no way to turn off.
Like every windows version should Windows Mobile also have some exe file which just lunches the Turn off function, but I can not find this exe file
can someone help me?

I forgot, I dont know how to uninstall slide2shutdown app, so that I can force Windows to give me the default way of turning of. It seems it is installed with windows

I need urgent help

thank you very much

Take out the battery lol

With HTC Touch HD you have to long press Power Button until a message box appear. Then you have only to press "Yes" to confirm shoutdown.

but after long press is comes only the app Slide2shutdown, no messeges. And Slide-to-shutdown doesnt shut down, only standby

I think you have installed "Slide2ShutdownPowerKeySetup_v1.1.CAB" insted of "Slide2ShutdownSetup_v1.1.CAB" so you have power button mapped.
Try to uninstall Slide2Shutdown and install the right version

where is the difference between? what means "mapped"
But slide2shutdown was pre-installed and I thought it was ols version, so I installed version 1.1.
It doesnt worked, so I deinstalled 1.1 and I still have some version of slide2shutdown installed and dont know where is it to remove it.
I tried also quickshutdown http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742008, but no success. ANd I STILL CAN NOT POST IN THE FORUM THERE TO ASK FOR HELP

"mapped" stay for: when you long press power button the App Slide2Shutdown will star automatically because the app "map" the power button key.
To uninstall application, simply:
Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs
then tap on one application and press "remove"

I know that but slide2shutdown is is not listed there

Ok, on your HTC there is a ROM with Slide2Shutdown pre-installed so "I think" you can't remove it from Settings.

what is ROM in my HTC and what should I find it?

I don't know what you have to do to disable Slide2Shutdown from a cooked rom. I'm sorry.
Try to ask here: Slide2Shutdown official thread

where is the Start - Settings - System Key Lock?

hi, i can't seem to find keylock application that locks all hardware buttons but power when device is on sleep mode. have you got it on yours? i had it on my old tytn II
do you have a
settings->buttons->lock ?
no. have you? i've got only Program buttons, Up/Down Control and backlight tabs there
hmm...you mean setting up a lock to turn off all keys until you hit Unlock then confirm by tapping the key on the screen?
Press and hold the "End" button and that locks the device.
It is configured under start>setting>Long key press.
MIGHT NOT be the thing you are meaning though.
no, you know when you pres power button phone goes sleep mode? there should be a setting where you can decide if you want to allow other hardware buttons wake phone from sleep or other wise.
currently which ever hw button i press phone wakes up i.e send (green) button, terminate call (red button) or action (round) button.
this is no good when phone in your pocket. a small touch to any of them wakes phone up. i thought it is standart wm option as i had it since wizard
Hmm, when i power off the only thing which will power back on is pressing the power button, opening the keyboard or removing the stylus?
I've just got a touch pro and when I power off, no other buttons will wake up the phone.
That being said, I still have my Tytn II and the Key Lock application is found under Start...Settings...System...Key Lock. The Long Key Press app is not what you're after.
It seems strange that your Touch Pro wakes up on any button push. Maybe you need to change a registry setting instead?
wierd ; on mine apart from those, any button powers it up. only config tool i used is advanced confing and there isint any setting regarding this on that tool

do you know which key i should change?
On touch Pro there is no Keylock option in the settings.
Only way how to activate the device is to:
1. press power button
2. open the keyboard
3. take out the stylus
There is no config like on the HTC Touch/Diamond.
I've contacted Julien Schapman, vendor of advanced config and asked him to add this settings to his application.
this is his answer:
Ok I will look at it when I could get a Touch Pro.
Best regards,
Julien Schapman.
So I hope his new version will have this settings. This is really missing.
But maybe someone is able to export this registry path on the HTC Diamond:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD
there should me something like
"KeyLock"=dword:1
Or maybe another. I don't know.

very cool app to unlock and lock the phone.
Tested and works on touch pro.
I'll be replacing S2U2 with this!

It should be in the \Windows directory:
\Windows\Keylock.lnk
\Windows\Keylock.exe
Create a shortcut in \Windows\Start Menu\Settings
I don't have this in my HD2 - any ideas if it can be installed seperately?
No idea as I have an at&t Fuze and this is a RAPH/TP/Fuze forum You might have better luck if you posted a link to this thread in the HD2 forum? Also, an alternative to s2u2, check THIS thread (QuickShutdown)

'Convert' volume slider to up/down arrows?

I have tried AE Button Plus v2.6.6 and looked at all the possibilities to 'Convert' volume slider to up/down arrows. There is no setting that I can find to do this. Has anyone found a way to do this? It states in the AE Button Plus documentation that this can be done.
Thank you in advance.
i don't know what phone you're using, but every windows phone i've used has been able to do it pretty easily.
in AE, choose one of the volume button and go to the button edit screen and choose "handle by AEBPlus"
select single press and then on the third drop down menu, choose "Press up arrow key" or whichever and you should be set
SortInchKey
I use this and it works well :

But it's difficult to configure.

3/6/09 - Did a Softreset today and now the Arrow Up and Down do not work. Reverted back to Volume up and down? Retried what I did before, checked settings and they are correct. Does it matter that I have an Unregistered version? I do have the INK in my startup.
Maybe it does...

Apparently it does, because when I installed my old version 2.6.2 it does work. However, if I try to install 2.6.6 I need a new Serial number. So, the newer versions require additional $$$$$. No more free upgrades. That is really getting expensive now. Thanks for your help!
On the wizard there was a cab called smartskey which changed the volume slider. I can't remember exactly what it did though - it might help you.

Anyway to change the Long End Key mapping??

HTC Long Press End Key app only allows two to display the quick list or automatically execute one of selected 4 options. But what if I want to map the End Key to say the comm manager? I was unsuccessful at trying so.
works for me. im not using a stock rom though.
So how did you do it?
Anyone using stock ROM that has this working ?

Is there a tool to manually turn off the LCD of TD2?

As I do not want to push the power button to turn off the LCD, I hope it can turn off the LCD by a menu. (e.g. Menu->Turn Off LCD)
By the way, is there a same tool to soft reset / shut down my TD2?
My OS is windows mobile 6.1 English, and the ROM is from HTC official.

Had the same "problem". Here's how to solve it:
On the "long press" event of the power button choose to run a program and insert "\Windows\PowerOffWarning.exe" (without the quotes) as program name and as arguments insert "PowerOff" (again without the quotes).

as for the soft reset there is an application named Raiisak's soft Reset

Exactly my point too.......I don't get it.
Whey go to the trouble of pressing (like you say) start menu - turn off LCD. That takes longer......
Press the power button and the screen turns off......easy does it.....
a very good tool that is working just as you described and much more is quickmenu. turn power off, switch screen orientation, free ram and much more.
windows like startmenu

Power button ends call in MIUI

For those whose proximity censor is not working and they are on MIUI.
you just cant end a call even if u hit power button the screen doesn't turn on.
Here's a solution for that.
If you aren't using launcher pro then install it. Hit home. Now you'll be in a new launcher.
Long press an empty space on the screen. Choose shortcut >activities >settings >accessibility settings. It will prompt you to choose that as the shortcut and it will be placed on the screen.
Then open that and it will ask you if you want to install some accessibility features (because the rom doesn't come with any) but feel free to say no.
And there you go. Power button to end call. Once you're done you can uninstall lp.
I hope u guyz get help from it. I really had a hard time bcoz of this.
thanks! i tried finding it in settings but i couldnt find it then i came across this
Thanks!!!
