Loss of colours when setting wallpaper - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi,
I'm having a weird problem I don't even know where to post. I recently created a picture which is perfectly visible in the gallery, and browser. But when I set it as wallpaper, I can see very visible banding effects. Is this a software bug or a hardware issue?
The wallpaper in question is linked below here:

Thanks.

Try using an app called Wallpaper Set & Save. I use it and it makes the banding and detail look much better. Hope this helps!

Hey, I tried it. Thanks, it works well. Though one wonders what's the problem with the default one.

I think because of the ability to resize it, it must do something weird.
Launcher Pro widgets can do this too unless you use High Quality mode.

solution for color banding!

Most wallpapers i set on my home screen had horrid color banding. I found a free app on the market that not only sets any wall you want but improves the photo and removes all hints of color banding. I tried it today and i can confirm it works 100%.
The app is called: Wallpaper set and save.
works pretty good from what i can tell, but i dont see all of my wallpapers. i only see a few. any suggestions?
edit: ah found a way to change the folder directory. it in the settings options
Too bad it doesn't have a setting for lockscreen wallpaper...

Nice find. I have noticed a lot of this color banding as of late, and using this app completely eliminates it. Every wallpaper looks great. Thanks OP

[Q] Wallpaper "cropping" not working properly (multi-touch)?

Hi all,
I am still very new to my Xoom (have only had it for about a week) and I have noticed what seems to be a glitch with the "wallpaper resizer/cropping tool" in the gallery when I am trying to set new wallpapers.
On all of my other Android devices (past and present) when I resize the picture to make it may wallpaper I can simply do so by using 2 fingers (pinch to zoom) but when I try this on my Xoom it is only recognizing one finger at a time and I have to resize by moving the box down, then to the right, then up, then to the left, etc.
Does anyone else have this issue and if so does anyone know how to fix it?
Please advise...
Thanks in advance...
That's going to be the least of your concern. I'm trying to figure out how to enable the whole wallpaper instead of cropping it.

LOL... Ya... I read your thread as well. I can get my wallpapers to work from the gallery using the crop feature but it is a pain in the a$$ to do when it wont work properly...
One easy way to get all of the wallpaper to view is to install wallpaper slide show. It's a live wallpaper but it allows viewing of the whole thing.

Hi all,
I had this same problem until another thread on this forum where some one mentioned the Live Wallpaper app that solves these problems and works really well you can give it a try as its free.

Can someone tell me how to configure the app? When I click on folders it FC's.

Android Wallpaper System!?

How the heck do I set a correct 100% good looking authentic wallpaper? I've tried dual wide HD (2560x800) wallpapers, HD (2560x1600), (1280x800), and many other different combos, but I just don't understand how the Android wallpaper system works.
First of all, the "set as" function by the gallery is absolutely terrible. It only lets me select 40% of my picture and crops out the rest! WTF!
Next, i've tried alternatives such as the app "Wallpaper Set and Save" from the market, and sure it definitely looks a lot better, but it isn't able to do the perfect job either, the top and bottom of the pictures I have get cut off while the width surprisingly works well.
What is the correct way to get a good wallpaper on honeycomb!?

This will change how your TF uses wallpaper.
I was able to fill the screen to proper preportions a photo of my wife, then set it to not slide. My 5 screens flow by as the picture stays still.
This free app will help you do so much I think it's worth a shot.
Agreed, MultiPicture Live Wallpaper but please, next time do a SEARCH before you post. There are literally dozens of topics dedicated to this aspect already.
Please help keep the forum clean.
I've tried that app before, the thing is, I want my wallpaper to "pan" across the (3) homescreens I use, it's just that I want it to do so while having the correct aspect ratio. I don't want one static image for each homescreen.
u can use an app named Wallpaper Wizardii , U can find it in the market

[Q]How to set a wallpaper without cropping?

Hi!
I've got a Motorola Xoom, and I'm trying to personalize it a bit, but when it comes to setting the wallpaper I want I'm stuck.
Apparently some design-genious at Google found out that you have to crop your wallpaper so it fits both in landscape- and portrait-view. Doesn't actually sound too bad, but when you realize what resolution the wallpapers need to be; it starts getting utterly stupid. In order to make the wallpaper fit perfectly into the crop-frame it has to be 1920 x 1408px. That means that i have to crop all my 16:10 wallpapers quite a bit in order to make them fit.
What I actually want is a fixed wallpaper. I want a wallpaper that fits in landscape-view (1280 x 800px) and doesn't move when scrolling through the home-screens.
Is this possible?

Maybe I can give you some ideas. First a disclaimer: I'm running ICS and using Trebuchet launcher, and I add my custom wallpapers to the Trebuchet launcher before compiling it myself. I like to have the fancy wallpaper selection screen with my custom wallpapers, so I don't know how this would turn out if you just selected a wallpaper from the sd card and used that annoying crop screen to select a wallpaper. Anyhow, with that out of the way, this is how I do what you describe using a photo editor such as GIMP. Maybe you can adapt this to your situation:
1. Resize the original wallpaper to 1920x1408
2. Add solid black background layer of same size (1920x1408)
3. Resize the foreground picture layer to 1280x800 and save
4. Using Trebuchet launcher, disable wallpaper scrolling
That gives me the entire photo inside one screen without scrolling (landscape mode only). When in portait I have black bars on top and bottom. I'll attach an example. Maybe you can adapt this somehow because I'm not sure how it would work with the wallpaper picker that makes you crop the photo.
That is actually the best solution I've seen so far, but I still feel it is a little too much hassle for something that really should be easy to do.
Thanks for your help!
I think, unfortunately, the most common fix to this issue is to install Multi Picture Live Wallpaper (free in the market).
You can set the picture as the source image and you'll want to disable vertical sync I think it is..
Unfortunately the cropping issue blows and we have to go elsewhere to fix it.
Multi Picture Live Wallpaper is an okay solution, but it is kind of buggy. When changing to portrait-view and back to landscape-view the wallpaper gets zoomed.
After checking the Android bug-tracker I found that there were several people with the same problem, and I added a comment. I suggest that everyone else who is bothered by this, does the same.

I just tried QuickPic and it works great, no cropping necessary, but it leaves you the option to do it if you so choose.
Thanks!!

I am using HTC One V and I tried using quickpic but it doesn't work for me as mentioned above I used option "Set as quickpic wallpaper" and still shows me frame to crop and it doesnt stretch to entire screen. Anybody else faced this problem? Please help. Its annoying that HTC is forcing crop to set image as wallpaper. I downloaded HD 480x800 resolution wallpapers to go with my screen resolution and it still doesn't work
What a great idea though....quick pic def crops but if you put an extension on the photo you could get the whole photo in the crop
How would one do that? Or if someone can make an app...

I've tried this on kindle fire and transformer prime and my wallpaper always resets back to default crop after I go from landscape to portrait, or when I reboot. Any fixes for that?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
I'm not the creator of the app. I don't own a kindle fire to try it out so I'm not sure why that is happening or how to fix it.
As for the transformer... not sure either. I use that app on the tf01 transformer without any issues.
I have also used it on the xoom as well without a problem.
Both of those devices are running ICS ROMS with a custom kernel.
Maybe it's just my launcher then as I use nova prime on both devices

That would make sense. I don't use nova.

How should I design my own wallpaper for the TF700?

I just put my order in for a TF700 (via newegg) and would like to start making wallpapers to use on it. I've read that you can't just take a 1920 x 1200 image and use that, because when you set up the new wallpaper it will get cropped and the quality will get reduced. Does anybody have a template for this or know how large the image should be? I have experience with Photoshop so resizing or editing won't be a problem.
Try Wallpaper Wizardrii app.
Thanks, I'll try that one. I've also heard that Multipicture Live Wallpaper works too. I just thought I'd see if there was anything I could do myself in Photoshop before the device gets here.

That seems like an interesting live wallpaper, I might want to look into that. I thought I saw something like that built into a Lenovo tablet at some point.
If you're using the default launcher, you need a 1920*1920 image for true native resolution in both landscape and portrait (the corners get cropped).
