So after doing the exchange rate the transformer in the uk comes out at 620usd so as im in the usa until the end of may im going to get one here before i leave the usa
Few quick question that im hoping people can answer..
1, does the charger have the usual 110 to 240v sticker on there?
2, if i cant key the keyboard addon over here im guessing the uk version of the keyboard would be the same?
3, can anyone think of any other compatability issues?
Cheers

1. I will answer this when i get home if nobody else has at that point
2. I cant imagine that they would be different, it would make no sense for them to retool the machines to make different tabs for different markets. If you have the language set correctly i dont see why it wouldnt work just fine. Come to think of it, im not even sure they differentiate(sp?) between us and uk english
3. nope, especially if you root when the method becomes available.

There are a few differences between UK and US keyboards, most notably the inclusion of the £ symbol on UK keyboards. I would imagine that these differences would be taken into consideration on the Eee Pads keyboard.
Regards,
Dave
only real problem i see for you OP, is that they've already sold out in the US :/a
Ive got until the end of may so a bit of time to find one
If i dont find one then so be it!
Good point about the keyboard but ill live with that.

I checked with Asus Benelux earlier and dock and connection is generic so I can use a US-transformer in a dutch dock. I guess there's no reason why you couldn't with a uk-dock...
I already got mine for about a week now and so far I'm not very pleased...
Too many bugs, can not wake up from sleep mode. doesn't seem to want to auto connect to my wifi after it's been awoken. yeah, i know i can turn off the wifi disconnect policy, but that's not a good solution! I'm almost to a point I'd rather retun and maybe wait for the Lenovo, Samsung 10.1, Toshiba, or just get the Acer. i bet some of the Acer users are laughing at us now.
what a hugh disappointment after a highly anticipated tablet..
Just because you have bugs doesn't mean everyone does. Please don't make baseless claims.

This. I've had zero bugs. None. *knock on wood*
Sounds like you have an old/crap wireless router/modem/access point. If you're not happy with your purchase... return it. Life's too short to get hung up on these things.
It's the software which is buggy, not the asus transformer!

do a search, it's definitely not an isolated issue. It's a VERY common issue as far as not waking from sleep!
shoot, go ahead and return it. i'd love to hear your experiences with the competition - good or bad. i'm getting tired of buying and returning tablets, lol.
the tf is a keeper right now. maybe in 6 months it'll be up for sale... though they did say the dock will be compatible with future models so i'll probably keep that part.

I like how you say very common, yet the vast majority has a device in perfect working order.
Don't pretend everyone has the issue just because you do.

Well, one can be fixed relatively easily and the other can't. Software is more fixable, especially with a decent sized community.

I've got a very nice router and mine Transformer does the sleep of death sometimes. There is definitely a bug, either with the hardware or with how the hardware runs HC. If it doesn't happen to you, that's great, but it is affecting several people here, and who knows how many if you take the percentage and apply it to all that have been sold.
That said, it seems every tablet has its issues, so hunting for the perfect, trouble-free device is going to be pretty hard. I'm sticking with the Transformer, warts and all, because it's the best out there for the price.

your router may not be as nice as you think. I've gone through many wireless routers that were supposed to be nice but were neve as good until I put dd-wrt on them.

You already started a thread called "almost want to return my trans! problems with shut off and wifi!!", not to mention it was your first post on the site.

You probably should have just posted in that one instead of making this. Like others above, I'm experiencing no problems with my Transformer whatsoever. I have a WNDR3700 with dd-wrt and everything works wonderfully.
Edit: Do people with the sleep of death problem have "Never" checked in the wifi sleep policy?

Did I say "everyone"?? Do a freaking search! It's common because only after a week or so from release, this issue has been discused numerous times! Just because you have a perfect working TF doesn't mean "EVERYONE" is.

Well it does the same thing when tethered to my Evo. Seems to be the only device that has trouble with both, so I think we can safely narrow it down to the Transformer There is definitely an issue here, but it's difficult to recreate because it seems to happen randomly. It happened to me this past weekend, didn't do it for a few days, then did it three times in one day. It hasn't done it today, and may not for a week, who knows? It's not the times it only does it once in a few days that bothers me, it's the multiple rebooting in a matter of hours that gets me. I'm not giving it back though, not unless it gets to be a regular thing.
I turned off the screen lock, hoping that maybe helps, but it's hard to know until it happens, ya know? Hopefully Asus will have a fix for it, but I doubt it since it's hard to recreate.

No, but you said you believe it's a flop because of the bugs and use words like "we" and "us" . For it to be a flop because of bugs it has to have a rather large percentage of users havings bugs that are bad enough to make them return the device.
Those experiencing the problem have the latest firmware update?
I ask because I have zero problems, and I haven't done the FW update.
Yeah, I updated mine as soon as I had enough juice. I don't have the same issues the OP is having, just the sleep problem. Otherwise I'm in love.

ive done the update, and have no problems.
Wasn't there another thread that said this Wifi issue could be resolved by turning off the detect Wifi option? I have this option off on all my devices because I do not want the device notifying each time I walk by a hotspot.
Hi Guys
I'm new to the TF forum, but I've had a good year of experience with android after getting my Captivate and doing all sorts of stuff in it.
I just got a B90 transformer, but it appears that anything over B70 can't root or do any modifications to it. That's not really an issue for me if the stock experience is good enough.
I'm guessing a B90 is quite new so I'm wondering if there are any other users with B90s have any issues with it? How is the experience like?
If anyone is wondering why did I get the B90 when I know I can't do anything with it. That's because it was on sale for 449 tablet + dock. I think that's a good price and I needed a tablet and knowing that Asus wouldn't cut the price of the TF with the release of the TF2. However, if the price does drop, I'll just bug my credit card company for price protection guarantee =)
I read that the number there is the month so yours was built in Sept. The problem rooting newer than B70 is they updated part of the bootloader back then apparently and the guys here haven't figured out how to crack it yet.

you are correct, in BxO the x stands for the month of manufacture, however there is a little piece of code on the silicon that is the first piece of code to run that has changed somewhere in august also there are a set of e-fuses which have had a different key burned into them, this key change is what stumped the root to begin with, and the first piece of code that changed is what has tripped up nvflash once the key was revealed to us

Looking at this, they mentioned B70 and B80, but nothing about B90. I wonder if there's any changes between those units in that matter.
I read somewhere that the awesome devs had created a rooting method for b70+, and they were waiting to release it. I have a feeling if you hang tight, you'll get root eventually.
Personally, I required root to run cifs and tun modules in order to stream movies from my fileserver and the ability to VPN into my workplace. YMMV.
Good luck, and welcome to the TF family - it's an awesome device!
Would be interesting, if the B90 transformer has the same SBK like the newer B70's and the B80's.
I mean if it has "Sbk2" or if it has the new "Sbk3" which is also used at the transformer 3G and I think at the asus slider.
Maybe you can try the Sbk-detect from here :

That's mainly what I'm after. I use those on my Nook Color that's on CM7. The real question is why Android ships without those features anyway.

good gravy >_> didnt you read the comments on the top post on the page?
Hello everyone.
I know there have been many threads concerning this topic but there does not really seem to be any improvement. My question concretely is, is there anyone currently working on a root for the b80? Or is it impossible to hack the root key?
If there is someone working on the rooting, is there an estimated date available.
Just so you know, I did actually search many many many topics on this subject but nobody seems to be able to give something concrete.
Anyway, I hope someone has some solid answers
Sincerely,
Incapable
Actually, I wasn't able to root it and though to return it back before 14 days pass, so got the Samsung GT P7510 instead and rooted it in 2 minutes , got the HDMI adapter and getting the USB stick adapter soon. IT is better screen resolution, brighter and lighter. 2 days running (without charging-only one charge) only 10% (interrupted use with stand buy mode) of battery life used. The transformer , B80,will be hard to root, so be patient.
...and any breakthrough in development will certainly be revealed first within the eee pad transformer forums.

Ok, great, but i don't see any reason to replace it with a samsung, the resolution is actually equal to the transformer, cannot agree with the brightness. I can run it for 16 hours full operating and that is more than enough for me. Anyway to stay a little on topic. I know the b80 will be hard to root, that is exactly why i created the thread.

Most probably, but maybe someone had found something somewhere else. Since there has been no update in 2 months about this I thought it might be time to just ask once more.
Here is a comparison table, 7510 has better color depth and Screen Readability in Bright Light is better.
There is a table at displaymate.com/Tablet_ShootOut_1.htm#Recommendation_3
Have a look at it.

Agreed, our friend incapable is asking if there has been any news on rooting a B80 Transformer, s/he is not asking for advice/comparison for acquiring another tablet.
It is unfortunate there hasn't been any updates floating around or any indication that it is still being worked on even. Let's just hope that we'll see some news soon. I wonder if the TF Prime will have the same SBK and if it does that should actually benefit us because there will be a flurry of new Devs attempting to root it.

Indeed, my first guess will be that the TF Prime will indeed have the same bootloader since, as far as i have seen, did not actually change anything about the software at all. It seems to be they have only made hardware changes.
Let's just hope for the best.
I don't know if I can wait for that release...
I may have to resort to flashing an older version like B70. I think there is a way to go backwards.
Have had stock rom for long enough!
Which developers are working on this? Is anyone? I'd hate to think that everyone was standing around waiting on something that no one is working on
I have a locked transformer as well, and I'd like to contribute... who should i talk to?
Razorclaw v1 to root
hey guys, today i found new way to root asus transformer ( B70/80 ) . That's Razorclaw v1 in androidroot.mobi ( i'm new user and can't post link in message, plz google it )
It works well on my transformer but it needs firmware update ( 8.6.5.19 OTA update ) . i'm not expert about android and so if you interested, check the link for further information. good luck guys...
A little hard to root it.
Razorclaw
Razorclaw is available on the Android market. It is a simple, 1-click rootingt tool for the Asus Transformer. Installs SU and busybox. Confirmed working on my B80—WW
Thanks to phyokyaw for posting
I don't think it's on the market anymore, but here's a link

Same, that was the first thing I noticed. Second was the massive amount of comments beneath the article. I wonder how much they are getting in ad impression revenue though
Also, yes, the OP should have done the research but no one needs to call him/her out. I'm sure they were just super excited. We'll all be like kids in a jelly bean store when it drops.
(yes, absolutely terrible pun but well worth it and accurate).
Edit: They are talking about the Infinity but it doesn't seem like it's a mass roll out yet.
I missed it the first time too.

Yup looks like 4.1 IS out for the Infinity-until the alleged, rumored, talked about, wanted, needed, sought after, elusive, secret official Asus bug free release is tossed up to all us TF700T folks that will never know when it happens anyhoo because of the no frigging OTA thingy. :crying:
I read the news on this same website last night, not sure how credible it is myself. This is just about 24 hrs old... i think it would have made waves across the android world by now if it was official, so my hopes aren't very high.... i WOULD be incredibly happy if it was released though... curious to see if it alleviates any of my tf700 concerns...

Again, no source or actual user reports. Those websites are just making **** up for ad impressions, then other ****ty sites copy those articles without any fact checking.
