[Q] regarding rom manager and other stuff? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed cm7 through cwm and it's great, but it seems that cm7 installed rom manager, when i open rom manager, it shows that i have the option to flash cwm again. Why doesn't rom manager recognize that i already installed cwm? or is it a seperate copy?
Another question, where can i get more themes for cm7? [disregard this, just saw the themes and app subforum]
Last question, if i where to buy a game from the google market, would it forever permanently linked to my google accounts? so if i were to flash a new rom, it would allow to d/l my paid game again?
thanks in advance

[Q] Please help!?!

I am running the FRG01B build that was manually updated and am rooted with rom manager. I want to install a new rom using rom manager so I can overclock my phone but really do not want to lose my data/apps or have to redownload the apps (I have 209 apps installed). I have MyBackUp Pro and tried to backup everything on the phone but after it has shown "backing up apps" and it is trying to upload my apps to the online servers I am always getting an error. Here is my question: If I don't wipe data when installing a new rom, will it work and if not what will happen? Basically what I want is to install a new rom and after everything installs, my phone is the exact same except the rom itself (app shortcuts are in the same place, ect. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

You won't have to rebuy your apps. They are attached to your Google account not your device. DON'T USE ROM MANAGER TO FLASH ROMS. It doesn't play nice with our tablets. In Rom Manager if you scroll to the bottom of the first page then you can flash an alternate recovery. The bekit 0.8. You can download with Rom Manager just don't flash roms or flash the current recovery
Thanks, I am going to Flash the Updated TNT. 4.1 and see how that runs. But when I flashed my original tnt 2.2 the most of the market was gone. Do I need to do the market fix again. It is still in my .apk folder
You will probably need to do the market fix again and I would wipe/data cache if you coming from 2.2 to 4

Can I un-install Rom Manager?

Hello, I flashed my G5 with Clockworkmod and CM7 and I am wondering if i can safely un-install Rom Manager as I have never opened it and I don't think I need it as I don't want to change roms etc and CM7 has a built in reboot into recovery or download mode, so basically- can i just delete the app?
Thanks
yes you can uninstall it. if, for whatever reason, it causes a problem (which it should not), you can always reinstall it from the market

[Q] Clockwork mod questions

Hello guys, I have two questions about clockwork mod.
I have lg gt540 and cwm 5.0.2.3.
1. Does CWM backup everything? I ask, because I'm thinking about installing android 4.0.x and I want to know if simply backing up my current system will enable me to switch back to it later.
2. I downloaded ROM Manager app from market, but it doesn't have my device on it's list. I can choose an option to manually flash recovery (since I already have it installed) and to choose which device and version I have. Which should I choose, to make app work with my recovery?

1. Yes, clockwork mod will back up EVERYTHING. If you make a backup right now, when you resore it, your phone will be in the exact same state it is in right now...down to call and text logs, apps installed...everything.
2. I don't have a definite answer on which one to choose. I honestly wouldn't even use ROM Manager. You already have CWM installed so why mess with it? You don't need ROM manager to flash.
Thanks for such a quick answer.

i tried to manualy install 200+ aps but it is very dificult even with titanium backup. i select all aps at the backup but after each app is installed it asks me comfirmation for the next and so on. i am not familiar with the titanium also . am i missing something? i have the free version . is this the reason that it asks me confirmation on each app?
thanks
Yes, in order to install all apps from titanium backup without confirmation each time...you gotta get the paid version.
