So I'm waiting for my SD card
And
I have no USB cord at the moment
From what I know g2x don't have fastboot
But
I was wondering if I could flash a rom from my internal memory via terminal emulator
Like so
Flash_zip update data/update.zip
Just curious because I'm impatient
Plz dnt bite my head off it was just a thought for us impatient few and I'm not brave enough to try without input

Bump... any kind of input
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Edit to my first post
Maybe format system from terminal
Then after flash
Obviously type
Reboot
To restart system with new rom??
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I don't think you can because in order to install new Rom you have to remove the old one and if you do that than obvious the terminal app would be removed as well

First in terminal to wipe
It would be
format system?
Or
Format ......
And obviously after flashing
Type "reboot"
But generally speaking wouldn't that be the same as flashing thru clockwork
Just a more technical way and from internal memory?

What do you mean you don't have a USB cable? without one you can't charge your phone. there's a usb cable that comes with the phone + an ac adapter, so you have to have a usb cable.

After downloading the newest ROM manager from the market, it now looks like I have two recoveries installed. If I boot into recovery from ROM Manager, I get the new blue one (with int SD support). But if I boot from the power menu, I get the old one. Something tells me I screwed something up, and I'm not touching anything until somebody tells me how this is even possible. WTF did I do?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
No problem there. ROM manager is only updated false flash rom. Old one is the nvflashed real one.

Ah. So is it safe to flash from either one? Having access to the internal SD would be a lot more convenient.
Also, is there a thread somewhere pertaining to this situation?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
There is an even better scenario...download the utility by tgagunmann in the development section, and flash the latest cwm, which allows both internal and external from boot recovery.

You can try my rom.... catyrom or any of the i9000 ports...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I currently have tried refuse 1.7, caty 1.0 & 1.5; currently running caty 1.5. I would recommend caty rom, the only thing I notice is the data sometimes cuts out and I have to restart my phone, also it shows the rom as "caty v2.0" in the "about" section of the phone, but the post says 1.5 so I am not sure what it is. But it's very simple to install and to run. Just make sure you follow directions to a T. When it says to let it reboot and sit for ten minutes actually do it. DONT FORGET TO HAVE A BACKUP IN CWM. Make sure it's rooted, I tried to root mine with Superoneclick and it didn't root properly, I had to use the odin with 3e recovery and root preset, then I was able to install roms. Good luck to you.
Yea...sorry...need to fix build prop...lol...keep forgetting to do that...and the service cutting out may just be the modem...

Are you using ROM Manager? if so, that is probably why you can't get it to work. just 3 button into recovery mode, go to backup and restore, and click backup. It should take a little while to work, and you can watch it go through all of the files as it backs them up.

tried using rom manager install rom from sd didnt work it said app2sd now found
tried manual install from recovery mode cant find the file from my sd but when i check it its in the external
dunno whats wrong
Do not use rom manager!! When you transfer ron from computer make sure you send it to your 14 gb SD card and it will show up...do not flash anything or download any roms thru rom manager!

It is also helpful to create a folder on the SD card named "1 rom" so you can keep all your downloaded roms in one place and then you also don't have to scroll far with the volume keys since the folder will be at the top of the list all the time

I followed Erik_T's camera hack - copying the camera apk from Zeus and changing permissions. The camera still force closes every time. I have even gone back to stock, reflashed but the result is the same.
I tried this rom and really liked it but I had no help or support when it came to the fact that everytime I would turn the phone off or restart it, all Apps and home replacement (GO Launcher EX) were all GONE... no one gave me a solution at all

Your default storage location may need changed.Well there is no option in the phone to do this but if you are rooted and go onto the market and download "terminal emulator", its free you can easily change it.
Here are the Steps:
make sure usb debugging is checked
open terminal emulator and type "su" (press enter)
now type "pm getInstallLocation" (press enter)
it should say something like [auto]
this means the system decides which is best
to change it to internal just type the following command:
pm setInstallLocation 1 (press enter)
now its set to internal,
you change it anytime by using the "pm setInstallLocation" followed by a space and choosing any of the numbers
0 - auto (default)
1 - internal
2 - external

Any idea how I'd go about getting the lock screen that's in the screen shots from op? I'd like to have the one to slide to the right for unlock, and slide to the left to mute. I've installed the ROM and so far so good so that's the only thing on my wishlist.
Also, just curious what kernel to use with this (if other than the default) for best battery life.
I try and flash bionix. But it says like I need to update edify script. Or something please help
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
It would help if u tell us how you are flashing, rom manager or cwm. What rom are you comming from. Also how you got the rom. Did u download it on your computer and then transferring it through mounting storage I'm cwm because I know that causes a lot of problems.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
It sounds like the install script is using an older type of scripting which CWM no longer uses.
