What
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

I followed Erik_T's camera hack - copying the camera apk from Zeus and changing permissions. The camera still force closes every time. I have even gone back to stock, reflashed but the result is the same.

I tried this rom and really liked it but I had no help or support when it came to the fact that everytime I would turn the phone off or restart it, all Apps and home replacement (GO Launcher EX) were all GONE... no one gave me a solution at all

Cause I don't have a solution for an issue I have not seen....probably need to move apps to phone in settings....

That was one of the first things I tried Dman, no dice, someone also said flash the rom then go into recovery, and do a system wipe and reboot, none solved the issue sadly

Your default storage location may need changed.Well there is no option in the phone to do this but if you are rooted and go onto the market and download "terminal emulator", its free you can easily change it.
Here are the Steps:
make sure usb debugging is checked
open terminal emulator and type "su" (press enter)
now type "pm getInstallLocation" (press enter)
it should say something like [auto]
this means the system decides which is best
to change it to internal just type the following command:
pm setInstallLocation 1 (press enter)
now its set to internal,
you change it anytime by using the "pm setInstallLocation" followed by a space and choosing any of the numbers
0 - auto (default)
1 - internal
2 - external

Any idea how I'd go about getting the lock screen that's in the screen shots from op? I'd like to have the one to slide to the right for unlock, and slide to the left to mute. I've installed the ROM and so far so good so that's the only thing on my wishlist.
Also, just curious what kernel to use with this (if other than the default) for best battery life.

You can try my rom.... catyrom or any of the i9000 ports...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
I currently have tried refuse 1.7, caty 1.0 & 1.5; currently running caty 1.5. I would recommend caty rom, the only thing I notice is the data sometimes cuts out and I have to restart my phone, also it shows the rom as "caty v2.0" in the "about" section of the phone, but the post says 1.5 so I am not sure what it is. But it's very simple to install and to run. Just make sure you follow directions to a T. When it says to let it reboot and sit for ten minutes actually do it. DONT FORGET TO HAVE A BACKUP IN CWM. Make sure it's rooted, I tried to root mine with Superoneclick and it didn't root properly, I had to use the odin with 3e recovery and root preset, then I was able to install roms. Good luck to you.
Yea...sorry...need to fix build prop...lol...keep forgetting to do that...and the service cutting out may just be the modem...

Are you using ROM Manager? if so, that is probably why you can't get it to work. just 3 button into recovery mode, go to backup and restore, and click backup. It should take a little while to work, and you can watch it go through all of the files as it backs them up.

Do not use rom manager!! When you transfer ron from computer make sure you send it to your 14 gb SD card and it will show up...do not flash anything or download any roms thru rom manager!

It is also helpful to create a folder on the SD card named "1 rom" so you can keep all your downloaded roms in one place and then you also don't have to scroll far with the volume keys since the folder will be at the top of the list all the time

CWM touch for T-Mobile(manual flash instructions)

Just flashed cwm touch for T-Mobile. Looks pretty nice. Its available in from rom manager or if you dont wanna pay for it do this
Download the recovery image from here http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager (tmobile Galaxy S2)
Rename it to recovery.img and place it on your sdcard(internal) so it should be at /sdcard/recovery.img
plug phone into computer and get into adb shell from terminal (must have adb working)
then type this: dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
IF you dont have adb working on your computer you can download terminal emulator from android market and do it from your phone. Same instructions as above.
place recovery.img on sdcard(/sdcard/recovery.img)
open terminal emulator and type: su (allow superuser access if it ask you)
then type: dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22
make sure usb debugging is checked also.
Credit for these instructions belongs to Da_G

Same here. I think it's worth it. Fixing permission didn't work for me either but not a deal breaker. Gladly paid the 2 bucks.
I'm loving the touch recovery, my download folder gets lost about twenty folders or more below the top folder, and it takes a decade to volume rocker down to select it. Lol, this is a huge improvement. Now if we can get a red themed version for our skyrocket....

Move the files to their respective places.
The addon.d file to /system/addon.d
The app to /system/app
The lib to /system/lib
And the pittpatt folder to /system/vendor
Make sure to set the permissions right, they're all rw-r--r-- except for the lib I believe

Make a file called .forcefaceunlock in /sdcard
/sdcard/.forcefaceunlock
Install gapps
Go into Settings > Security and set up your face unlock there.
The only way I've gotten the phone to unlock using face unlock is using the horizontal lock screen.
Rom control > lockscreen options > horizontal lockscreen.
When it asks you for a pattern, turn the phone sideways, you'll be able to see an image from the ffc.
It unlocks fine for me.

don't do anything with the file other than create it.
BTW it won't really work yet until the ffc's warped image issue gets corrected.

The ffc actually had been fixed.
And as for getting it work,i did exactly what Juls said to go. Put all the files where they are supposed to be in /system, then put facelock in system apps. For permissions, check all the boxes in the first column, and the first box in the second column. Reboot, then it should be an unlock option in settings
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Yea except you're probably gonna be missing some libs if you don't let the zip do it. If you read the updater-script and the shell scripts that it uses to install the files you'd know exactly which files are needed. Follow the instructions I posted, it's a lot easier flashing a zip via recovery.
Yea it turns out i got the option in the settings, but it didn't actually come up in the lock. So what was the link for that zip again?

I did. And yes it only works in horizontal lock screen.
I looked into it and apparently it was working in AOKP build 39 but something in build 40 broke it so we're probably gonna need to wait until the AOKP team releases build 41 so we can sync their source code, or wait until someone adds a patch to the lockscreen repo so I can pull it and build a new version with the fix. For now you're gonna need to use the lockscreen as horizontal.

Idk what happened here, did you maybe change the pixel density of your rom? I've never encountered an app glitch like this before.
Alternatively, if you want to use a different recovery then you could install TWRP Recovery using "GooManager" in the Play Store. Just hit Menu then select Install OpenRecoveryScript to install TWRP, it's all touch and fairly simple from there. Your pre-existing backups aren't compatible from CWM though.

You would know the pixel density is changed because you have to manually change it in the build.prop. You don't need to worry about it since you didn't do it. Plus, changing pixel density would alter the way your home screen and each app is displayed so it wouldn't be just one app that looked different.

You can use a tweak to overcome your problem.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
As you have your phone rooted, go to /system/build.prop and edit it with a text editor (You can use Root Manager for this process) and add this line at the bottom of the page
"ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1" (without quotes)
After adding this line carefully reboot your phone and clear memory with your phone's task manager and you can observe a much of ram left.
CAUTION: DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

RAM-expander allows you to make extra ram available, as a swapfile on your sd card.
You need a fast card for this, but the dev has a utility you can run first to check compatibility.
Also look at auto memory killer, which is not a task killer rather it manages the minfrees, so your can keep as much memory free as possible
