[Q] Apps/APK location? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I install apps from Google Marketplace onto my Asus Transformer, where are the apps located?
I am not asking where the default/pre-installed apps are located. I am asking where the maps I buy from marketplace are located.

/data/app
You'll need a root explorer program to view them though.

Readers Hub 12/06/10

i know theres other threads out there with readers hub
but none thats fully functional
this was ripped out of the jm6 fw that was just released last week
i pulled it off my own tab
just install all apks and all should work
you might have to put them in your system app folders then restart
see post 2 for zinio apk
Please let me know your results
heres zinio apk
Awesome. Thanks alot. I have a north american tab so these apps were not included. I hav ed actually found aldiko and nook to be great reader apps, especially since you can import epub files. I tried to replace my gallery app with another that was supposed to display as higher resolution images, which it does but also force closes often. Any chance you can upload the stock gallery 3d apk?
VZW Tab
I tried to install the ReadersHub.apk, no dice :-(
put in in your system apps folder and reboot
I installed this and can get zinio working to where the magazine subscriptions are present, but there are no pictures. I installed it about two weeks ago. Do you know how old this Apk is? I'd love to get it to work.

I'm EXTREMELY new at this apparently, when you say system apps folder, which one is that? I tried to put it into the Root folder but I cannot get it to work.

i think you want to use root explorer or adb to put apk in /system/apps/ folder.
Zinio still doesn't show the page pictures unless you pinch to zoom for any magazines after August 2010. Does anyone know why this is or if there is a fix in the works? Cannot get any info from zinio directly.

ok you need to be rooted and have busy box install to be able to write to system
once you have above done open up estrongs/or root explorer find the app your trying to install copy it and paste it into system / apps folder then reboot
I still can't get the Reader's Hub file to install or show up in the apps list after rebooting. I've spent hours trying to get this work and no dice.
Wonder if the problems with Zinio can be remedied by changing our screen density settings? Just a thought, may be way off here.

Copied with Root explorer and rebooted. Still doesn't show up as installed. Is there supposed be a .odex file to go with it?

Max, if you have Titanium backup, can you take a backup of Readerhub and post the backup file?

[Q] Sideload apps?

I just got my transformer today with keyboard (its so cool!) and I have a colelction of apps from my old android handsets on my laptop. Is there a way of sideloading these apps onto the tablet without rooting?
just copy the apk files to the transformer and then run them from file explorer.

Ah awesome. Glad its that easy.
You have to check that box about loading apps from outside the market though, don't you?
Yes, you have to.

I didnt check that but if its a code -24 you can try going to /data/data/ and delete the associated folder with a root file browser and try again.

IF YOUR ROOTED I'm not sure about about astro. Maybe it cant use root? If your rooted you can try root browser. Not sure if es explorer has root abilities. But I have fx explorer which is great. You may have to toto the menu button on the navigation bar to enable root abilities for your file manager. Then browse to /data/data and delete the folder like "/data/data/com.not downloadingappfolder"

Yup I use ES File Explorer for this, in the settings you have "root explorer" options you need to enable.

[Resolved] About to flash a new ROM. Titanium Backup question

As the title states I'm about to flash a new ROM on my Sprint Note 4. However...I want to install Titanium Backup with my Pro licence before accessing the market. I cannot find the needed .apk or license using ES File Explorer however. Can anyone point me to where I would find these so I can throw them on my SD card?

Both files should be in /data/app, but you can only see the contents of /data if you enable Show hidden files and Root Explorer. If you need help with that, don't be afraid to ask.

Aha! Thank you! I had hidden files set to 'show' but did not have 'root explorer' enabled. Thanks so much.

Please help me find where my phone is storing my apps

The apps I install don't appear in the usual place when I use a file explorer. I want to transfer some files for presets and backups for apps like tasker and kustom but my phone seems to be hiding the folders for any app I install somewhere where I can't find them. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Hi. Yes that's where they would usually be but I've installed around 30 apps and none of them are appearing there. It appears my phone is hiding them somewhere I can't access.

Have you tried the /data directory but that's if you're rooted.
