Tango

Question: Does tango video chat work? Or even fring video chat?? Qik sucks... and to think skype bought them. Good luck skype.

not work with the front camera. and un-able to switch.
super slow!( in same city)

Market comments for Tango suggest that they will release an update for g2x support. As it is, everything works except initiating the forward facing camera, lol.

It works to record and send video mail. Unfortunately, the only person I know who has a front-facing video camera that I would want to video chat with is on an iPhone 4, and the Qik software on iPhone and Android are mutually incompatible at the moment. They say they are working on a fix, expected sometime "around the middle of April" (which, in case anyone hasn't looked at a calendar in a while, has come and gone). Oh, well, I'm sure it will be RSN...

I've tested qik with another fellow g2x user not bad, but1.3 mega pixel sucks

Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you all know that Tango is aware of the front facing camera issues on the G2x. Our engineers are investigating the issue and we hope to release a fix for this soon. We have not forgot about you guys

Ive tried fringe with no luck, even tried yahoo video with same results. Only app I know of right now that supports g2x front facing cam is qwik. Its not a bad software just not particulary great.

Haven't read the full changelog but I don't see it benefiting us at this point from the minimal I have seen. It has added video chat which we don't have a front facing camera for so not sure what all devs can do to use this for us thats different from 2.3.3.

Might be the fix I'm looking for! Even if phone has rear cam I do use it for video calls to show where I am, but all 2.3 roms don't let me see incoming video properly :/

Yeah, I know what you mean. This is going to be great for my tablet though. Dual core support and video chat

i just got my new xperia in today
but dam it qik FC
skype doesnt allow me to video chat for some strange reason everyone i know is on qik lol yahoo im with video plugin wont let me switch cameras
anyone have any thoughts

try tango, it has front camera support. it's free..

I got tango working but the front camera support the video is super zoomed in like your face is huge lol

download skype from the market (not the crappy mobile version stuck on the phone). Go to settings and enable it.

maybe your phone is too close to your face.. thats why..

Will this ever be possible

I wonder if ever, we'll be able to use our front camera as a web can on certain apps. Like Paltalk, or any video chat apps like that

2nd that. Fring worked great on my original EVO with the front facing camera. video chatted a few times over fring with friends on their iphones. And I think you could video chat over 3g using fring.

Thanks guys. I didn't even know fring had a chat app. I use it for video calling. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy s 2.. I guess what I really meant was on websites as well. But really I just want it to work on Paltalk BC that's one chat I actually do use because I listen to the Opie and Anthony show on there all week. Other than that I don't go in chat rooms much. Not really at all. But thanks for the answers.

What is the best video chat app for the One S? This is my first phone with a front facing camera, so i've never video chatted before. Qik isn't available for this phone and skype doesn't get good reviews. so what's the best?

I use google talk, its a bit better than what it used to be. I'm dying to try the google+ hangouts

Although some have, I have had no issues with Skype calling my son. Was on wifi.

Google Talk is much better than Skype, I haven't found one better yet, and I've been looking since I got my G2. Only drawback is the other person has to have a google account to, but they're free so why not

I use google+ hangouts. So much better than skype, oovoo, or even google talk. Quality wise there is differences too.
