[Q] flash rom problem (Desire , Oxygen 2.0.3) - General Questions and Answers

I try to flash the rom in the following post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971904
I can flash it but there are some problems later on.
I used titaniumto restore apps to my phone. When I rebooted my phone,
it stopped at the loading page of the rom showing the word "oxygen".
Then i try to flash the rom again, after i restored apps from titaniumto, i didn't reboot it but turn to off to recovery to install a theme which is called "MS_signed_OxygeN_2.0.3" from this post :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987723
I can turn on my phone and see the beautiful theme, but i found that only a few apps remain (originally there should be 48 apps restored from titaniumto) . i try to install titaniumto or root explorer again but failed. After several time, the phone reboot itself but stopped at the loading page again.
I have flashed another rom and i can use my phone now, but i want to know why I can't flash the oxygen one. Hopes someone can help.

You must full wipe. and than install Rom and Radio. after do it install a fresh copy of titanium back up.

yes, i have full wipe.
Is it the problem with Radio? Because I just install the Rom only, I didn't do anythings related to Radio. My phone is rooted from official HTC 2.2 (just rooted a few days ago) , what should i do about Radio?

Just Rooted

So I just rooted my phone today and I was wondering what are the next steps that I should take. Should I make a recovery file just in case my system crashes? If so, how would I do that? Secondly, do I have to flash a ROM to my rooted phone or may I just keep the stock version? If I decide to keep my stock version, would updates still happen automatically or would I have to unroot and then update? As you can see, I'm a noob at this.
well it seems that you've nearly got the hang of the rom manager so that's your backup problem solved, but it's not a good idea to backup your unrooted stock rom as when there is an over the air update it will reflash your rom to a rooted version
I would boot into recovery, probably Clockworkmod and do a backup. Then download Rom Manager or search the web for Roms and play around and see what one works best for you. I would leave kernels and radios alone for now until you play with flashing roms.
So I did a backup through rom manager lite version. I was thinking of flashing bb.01 but can I do that through rom manager, despite the fact that I have the free version? Also, when I wipe cache and data, I would lose my contact info right? So how would I recover my contacts after I install BuglessBeast? lastly, is it safe to flash a rom through the free version of rom manager because I had several attempts using backup ability on rom manager before it finally made a backup.

[Q] Desire HD - Does not boot after installing new ROM

Hi together,
today I installed a new ROM on my Desire HD. But now it does not boot anymore, there is just the HTC-Logo and then it hangs - I have to remove the batterie to turn off the device.
So, what happened?
Yesterday I installed the Nightly-Release on the Cyanogenmod end everything worked fine. But because of a few things I wanted to get my old ROM, so I used the ROM-Manager to reinstall my Backup.
But that didn't work - the system doesn't boot...
After a bit research I found the ODIN-Tool - is that the right way to repair it?

I had the same issue this morning when changing rom to a cyanmod nightly edition. I had error messages so I though that I would go for Evolution HD rom that I had working before. When adding that rom again It hanged on the HTC logo. What I did was to do a factory reset and then I used another rom that I had lying on the SD card and installed from zip. Might not be as easy for you if you dont have different roms on your SD card like me, but thats what I did. Dont know anything about the tool you got there sorry :/ Wish you the best of lyck finding an answer here.
Cheers!
Simon
Hey Simon, thanks for your reply.
Actually I tried to install the Cyanogenmod Stable release, fresh downloadet from the Website.
I am able to start the ClockWorkRecovery (Version 3), so I have the possibility to access the SD Card.
But nothing changed with the new ROM installed.
Got it! I used the current version of the LeeDroid. This ROM runs and now I can use my ROM Manager to install another ROM.
Thanks for your support.
Edit: I had problems installing my Cyanogenmod--Backup. Fixed it with installing LeeDroid, downgraded my Clockwork-Recovery to 2.5.1.3 and formatted my SD-Card. After resetting all data in the recovery menu I was able to install my Backup.

[Q][GT-i9020a] How do I reflash back to factory?

Hi, new Android user here.
I was trying to root my Nexus S phone yesterday and I'm having problems. There is a lot of rooting guides out there and I used one from xda and also one from unlockr.com. Managed to root the phone ok (I think), but everytime I flash a custom ROM, the phone won't start at all, it just sits at the boot up screen and repeats itself.
So I'm thinking, I should just start over again. So I flash the stock ROM from xda back to 2.3.1. Everything seems ok, the phone starts up... but it's always stuck on airplane mode and the phone itself doesn't even show stuff like IMEI, mac address anymore.
So now I figure I've probably messed the phone up enough and need help lol. How do I go about reflashing the stock ROM and getting my Nexus back to out of the box condition (Stock ROM and no custom bootloader)?? Any guides or step by step instructions would be very helpful.
Thanks
Did you wipe before flashing roms?
Sent from my Nexus S c",)
Maybe flashing the KB2 modem would help that but the 9020a came stock with 2.3.3 and not 2.3.1 so that could be it...I'm not sure but that software wasn't meant at all for ours so it could be part of the problem. But if I was you I'd take a look at this thread wich has all the stock software for your phone. Make sure you wipe everything in clockework and then flash the stock rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13123996&postcount=39
dsixda uploaded the stock backup and the stock recovery, you can read more at that link, good luck hope it helps
You can download the full stock ROM from the link below:
http://goo.gl/8P8vl
Move the zip file to sdcard. Boot into recovery and flash the ROM. It should get you back to stock 2.3.4 ROM, all locked.

edit: well now everything is ok again, wiped data, flashed with CM7 and now it says 2.3.4, go figure.

[Q] stock rom with s-off ? what i need to do?

hello and sorry for the same questions asked over the same issue...
its my first time and im afraid to brick my phone
anyway now im with custom rom and want to go back to stock to receive ota updates.
my phone is rooted and s-off i want to stay s-off with stock rom.
1. is it possible ?
2. will i need to wipe data before the flash?
3. backup needed ?
4. will i get ota updates with stock rom s-off?
5. the ruu is europe 1.47 do i need it to match to my software/radio/hboot?
my phone:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-off RL
HBOOT -0.98.0002
RADIO-3805.06.02.03_M
EMMC-boot
@yonigo870
Since you want to stay s-off and a stock rom then....
1) Yes if you don't want need OTA. No if you want ota
2) Yes
3) If you want to restore your apps/data yes, google SHOULD be okay with contacts/calendar
4) Dont be silly, really, DONT TRY STOCK THINGS ON ALTERED PHONES, thats common sense (at least it should be)
5) You will not use a RUU, you wil use a pre rooted stock rom from the development forum
However, if you want to get ota updates you will need to go s-on and use a RUU, I suggest just getting the latest RUU
My suggesttion, rather leave your phone as is and install a stock pre rooted rom, you can always install the latest stock rom when the OTA is released and its made into a prerooted rom.

@foX2delta i agree with you
@yonigo870 flashing a ruu can actually force you into a bootloop if you flash the wrong RUU the best wasy to get to stock is to flash a pre-rooted stock ROM
heres both links to the RUU and pre-rooted stock ROMs

here is a few guides to help with that question i don't know anything about rom manager sorry i use 4ext touch recovery
Custom ROMS:
Custom roms can be found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1146601 or head to the development section.
(Most of these ROMs are pre-rooted, which means that you don't need to root your phone after flashing one of the custom ROM.)
How To: Flash Custom ROMs using Recovery (Method 1)
(You can use your default recovery from Revolutionary tool but I recommend using 4EXTRecovery)
1. Copy your custom ROM "zip" file to your SD card (Root directory).
2. Turn off your phone.
3. Turn on your phone by holding the power button and the volume down button together.
4. Once you see the white screen, choose "Recovery"
5. Make a full wipe/format and clear all cache.
6. Choose "install from sdcard/zip file" and then choose your Custom ROM zip file from your SD card to flash your Custom ROM.
Optional: If you want to use 4EXTRecovery, just flash it like you are flashing your custom ROM(Step 6). Just do it before you flash your new ROM.
How To: Flash Custom ROMs using ROM Manager (Method 2)
(This method might be easier for flashing ROM updates or add-ons)
1. Go to ROM Manager (You can install this software from the Android Market.)
2. If you want to use 4EXTRecovery, please follow steps below, and if you're not using 4EXTRecovery, please skip to step 6)
3. Press your phone's option's button and choose Manual Flash Override.
4. Press OK and choose your phone model.
5. Choose ClockworkMod 3.x (After these steps, your ROM Manager won't ask you to flash new recovery again when flashing new a ROM)
6. Reboot into Recovery and make a full wipe/format and clear all cache then reboot.
7. Now, from your ROM Manager, choose Install ROM from SD Card.
Note: Flashing ROMs can be vary, some custom ROMs may require you to flash some of their own file first. Eg, The LBC Mod ROM requires you to flash "WIPE zip file" before flashing the ROM. Read their instructions carefully to know more.
NOTE: I am not responsible for any faulty or bricked devices after S-OFF or flashing new ROMs. Do it at your own risk.
How To: Flash a ROM in a "Perfect" Way (Method 3 - Recommended)
A great guide from vampire36 for people who encounter the following problems:
1. The ROM you flashed gets stuck on HTC screen (bootloop) while the same ROM works right for others
2. You get the same kernel and radio yet you find your cell to have more battery drain than others
3. Finally some strange force closes and restarts but works perfect for others
So this is basically one of the most perfect way to flash a custom ROM and is a way to help people who face such issues.
Please head to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1257731 to see full instructions and discussions.

You can enter a boot-loop but I've flashed ROMs too many times to remember (stock & MOD) and never truly boot-looped. You may soft-brick your phone however, but with remedy. Rooting phones & flashing ROMs isn't for the faint-hearted. My phone was dead for almost 48 hours (within 24 hours of purchase). That's how I joined XDA.
Scary. Turned out it wasn't hopeless. Within an hour of Temp Root, I had self-styled flashed CWM Recovery (haven't run into the gung-ho method I crafted yet, at least on these forums), proceeded to acquire Permanent Root afterwards and within the week had flashed 4 ROMs. Invented a few tricks myself .
Point is you have to get your hands dirty. That's why you bought the darn phone in the first place! Pull your gloves & get those hands dirty!

Help! OTA Update on Rooted, Stock Rom, CWM Recovery

Hey guys,
I searched around and only found some old posts for this topic.
I just bought this phone, I rooted it, simunlocked it, and added two day old CWM recovery. Its a S4 Canadian (Bell) version in case that helps..
Is there a way to apply the OTA update WITHOUT having to wipe my data and settings and reflashing a rom?
Hlep will be greatly appreciated!
THANKS :good:
I got the same thing going on. I have a TMOUS HTC One S stock with CWM Rooted and such. I just changed it back to the Stock recovery, but doesn't seem to help. Is there something else I need to do? Maybe I need to flash a newer recovery version?
I have the stock recovery from a MoDaCo topic I can't list because I don't have 10 posts yet.
its topic/353006-interim-clockworkmod-touch-recovery-for-the-htc-one-s-stock-download/ though.
Are you sure your Rom is absolutely stock. For example if the rom is tweaked in any way or if bloatware has been deleted then you won't recieve the update
Ok so I got the update to work. This is what I did: in CWM I backed up a nandroid. I flashed a stock BACKUP for the HTC One S (I moved the zip to the clockwork > backups folder on the sd card). Rebooted into bootloader, flashed a stock recovery from modaco, rebooted, ran the update (I had to update twice, from 1.53 to 1.84 to 2.35). Then I restored my original nandroid. Problem is, the update didn't stick. And now I'm getting an error when I try to turn on wifi. Any ideas? I feel like I got so close...
Tough to see what went wrong.
I had a brand new stock rom with no modifications.
Then I flashed stock recovery,
Did a root keeper (play store app)
Then did the update
And restored root.
Worked out fine for me!
I think you should flash a stock rom and not a backup..
