Just got my transformer from Amazon and the speakers don't seem to be working, headphones work fine. I tried hard resetting holding down the power button for a few seconds but that didn't help. Any other suggestions before I call Amazon for a replacement?
I'd try updating the firmware first to see if its just a software issue first, however i've heard the update had been pulled from the server, in the bricked transformer thread some people got a link for a downloadable SD card update file, see if if can get the link from those guys and give that a try.
Someone else on here had that same problem, and the 10 seconds press shutdown, 2 minutes off, then turn back on reboot fixed it.
Tried resetting but no use, waiting for the software update to see if it would help.
Try doing the forced power down 10-12 seconds holding down the power button... after multiple boot ups. I've not had reports of any firmware fixing this particular issue, as other people who have mentioned speakers not operating got their devices working normally by force powering off with the above method. If yours definitely isn't working after that, it sounds like it might be a hardware issue and therefore need replacing via an RMA.

My phone runs perfectly fine until I enable Gps location. Once I enable GPS location, it freezes, then it reboots my phone and it slowly do a system check, then it continuously rebooting the lg logo screen. I tried taking out the battery and put it back in, even took out my battery for a day and it still does the same. I'm not sure if it's the hardware problem, but it's a pretty rare case, since I read most of the threads in forums, people said it can be fix once you pull out the battery, but somehow it's not working for me. Anyone knows the reason why? Btw, my phone is not rooted or used any 3rd party program.
Ah. Posted too soon. There's a master reset that I believe is Power and Volume Up. Try that.
Unfortunately, it's still not working. Is there any other possible way? Or else I have to call in and return it.
Try turning off the phone, then press power + vol down and hold it until you see the word android. This should do the factory reset.

It sounds like the permissions are not correct, or perhaps that your ROM was not flashed correctly. I have seem this problem happen numerous times due to bad firmware flashes or ROM issues. I would just download a new copy of the latest CM 7 ROM or whatever your favorite ROM is and flash it through CWM.
Thanks guys for the help. I found out that you have to hold down first then power button for around 30 second and then the droid animation comes out. I was so close to returning it. Thanks!
my girls volume wont turn on at all? anyone ever hear about this problem? it isn't rooted....
not sure if it will help, but try this: from the home screen, press the menu button, then choose settings>sound>volume, and check the settings for the various volumes, i.e incoming call, media, system, etc. when my phone was stock like hers, sometimes one or more of those volumes got pushed down to 0 for some reason... it was annoying, and it seemed to happen especially to my notifications volume every time i rebooted the phone! hope that helps
I'm having the exact same issue
Hey everyone. So I bought a sidekick 4g on craigslist the other day. I checked it out and thought everything was okay, but I was wrong. So far no response from the jerk who sold it to me without telling me about this problem.
The phones volume up key doesn't work 90% of the time. If I reboot the phone or leave it off for a while, the volume up key will work for a few minutes and then stop again. The funny thing is the volume up key works when I want to reboot (holding vol.up + vol.down and power button at the same time).
So is there any fix for this? Will rooting it and loading a rom fix it? Also I am new to all of this, is it even possible to root and load generginger 2.0 with a broke volume up button? The phones firmware is all up to date.
Thanks for any info and help everyone.
i'd suggest using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275116
root the phone, and then go back to stock with the heimdall and see if that fixes the problem. and if it does then you should try rooting it again and install one of the Custom ROMs because the stock OS on this phone is garbage out of the box.
but i'm no expert either, it just seems strange that only when its been on for a bit that it stops working. that it works when you boot it seems to suggest that its a software issue? somebody help me out here guys lol
I recently updated my TF to 8.6.5.19 Firmware With CWM & Root and I noticed my volume up is not working, the down works fine, I have tried rebooting, Factory Reset and still nothing. It worked fine when I did the update with CWM but now it just stopped. I am not sure if it is software or hardware, I tried rebooting into CWM and it will not work either. I also noticed the backing has separated from the bezel and you can see the rubbers around the volume keys, I have never noticed and issue before with the volume, the volume down seems soft to press as the volume up seems a little bit harder. I wanted to send it for RMA but It is rooted and I do not know how to unroot it. I was told by someone that ASUS will not fix it if you root the tablet. If anyone can let me know what I could do to fix it or maybe someway to reflash the update again or unroot it. I would greatly appreciate it.
A solution....
Well i guess not many people can help you if they dont get the hands on it. Usualy u cant find out if it works or not. Best way is plug it in your pc open properties on your computer and go to hardware and see if the APX activates this is how u can find out if it really work if not here you have a program to get directly to recovery ...

It works fine because i have tried it...
I have tried to get into APX mode many times but it does not work, it just starts the tablet, It is installed on my PC for I have used it before numerous times to install updates and to root it. The only option I can get is the volume down menu which I cannot select "Up" so it boots to the Wipe Data/Android screen. I want to RMA it but I cannot get anyone to let me know whether they will fix it if it is rooted.
This isn't going to help you much but I had an identical problem where the volume Up button stopped working. It was the impetus for me finally sending the unit in for repair - came back a month later with the volume up button functioning but the power button broken and the entire unit virtually unusable. This was a hardware repair as they did something to make the button feel totally different. Second RMA did fix things though.
Mine wasn't rooted though - way too many issues on this thing for me to risk the warranty. Good luck to you though.
Well I bought and downloaded the Asus Transformer Recovery Boot and it works like a charm for getting me into CWM but still no APX mode
Im sorry but i only want to help...
I insist please turn off your TF plug in usb to pc then turn it on pressin VOL + and START and go to mi pc properties hardware and u will see it goes in apx keep trieing it has to work sometimes it takes a little the screen on TF is black all the time just look at pc do it and wait count at least 8 seconds before letting loose the power bott and not more than 10 secs the VOL + if u do it wont work... TRUST ME ON THIS i have tried it on a TF 101 and a TF 3G both rooted now...
Hey guys,
I've found others complaining about the same issues but no resolutions. My phone constantly restarts itself after updating to 5.0
Attached is a video of my phone constantly looping: never mind I can't attach the link because i'm a new user. If you search nexus 5 keeps restarting on youtube you'll see it
Someone posted a trick where if you constantly tap the power button it'll turn on. It works for me, but it only delays the restarts, as soon I stop it turns off. I seriously need some help this is getting out of control. I've tried booting it in safe mode and no luck either, it still restarts itself. I've restored the phone as well, no luck. Hoping for a magic trick or something.

How did you solve this problem ? i have the same problem.
Sounds like the power button is stuck. It is not a software issue.
I had the exact problem yesterday. I fixed it by pressing the power button a bit harder than normal (you may have to disassemble the device as I did), and the button works normally again.
Hi guys,
I was running Cataclysm/EX last week when my phone started randomly rebooting about 10-20 times a day, often getting stuck in a boot loop. I've since switched to Euphoria, but it only helped to reduce the number of lockups and reboots to about 5-10 a day.
Before I go stock and unroot the phone, I wanted to know if there are any tools or terminal commands that could help me track down the issue. Running cat /proc/last_kmsg just gives me a wdog_reset as my last reboot reason.
Many thanks!
Sounds like a faulty power button to me unfortunately.
Flash stock firmware with fastboot, if you can. If it reboots in the bootloader, or recovery, it's definitely the power button... And flashing could be dangerous, since it could reboot half way.
But a clean flash of a few roms, and it's the same with all... Sounds like power button for sure.
Quite a common issue.
Thanks Darth,
Would a faulty power button give a watchdog reset error on last_kmsg though? Seems like it thinks some software is hanging before resetting the phone.
To your point, I haven't had a reboot in about 12 hours, so perhaps the random nature of the issue points to the power button.
Do you know of any guides to fix the issue? I've opened up phones before so would at least give it a shot.

Not sure about the error. Sorry.
As far as checking out the button, just google "nexus 5 power button stuck", you'll find lots on it. Throw in "xda" in your search for results from here.
If it does it after flashing the stock firmware and no other apps.... It has to be something hardware related, power button or something else anyway.
I'd try that first.
I've never played with one myself, sorry. ?
