no there are hardware differences between the two models

would it be just the antenna or other factors to?

you need peace of hardware for 2.5 MHz.
You can buy new one

[Q] Rooted and Unlocked HTC inspire only EDGE?

Hello everyone,
Im sure someone can confirm what i have found from searching.
That the inspire unlocked will ONLY have edge capabilities due to a hardware limitation?
Reason why I ask, is b.c i just rooted, unlocked, and im only getting Edge.
Can anyone confirm this, or push me in the right direction to making the network be like it should in 4G or H?
Thanks.
You have something wired happening as rooting/unlocking does not limit the phone to edge.
On tmobile in the US or in a country that has different 3g band than at&t.

Nope worked just fine when it was at&t at 4g and H.
I called tmobile and they have also confirmed that the phone unlocked on t-mobile will only be EDGE due to hardware issues.
Im still looking into it...
Thanks for your input.

This is the HTC inspire that was being used on USA at&t, but i unlocked it and rooted, and it works great on t-mobile, just only limited to EDGE.
Thanks.

People in this forum have been saying that the I4G and DHD have the same hardware,so this is confirmation that the date signal receiver in I4G is different than DHD and no radio, software can allow the I4G from receiving 2100 frequency?
Can someone comfirm this?

You are absolutely correct about no being able to change frequencies. If your carrier is T-Mobile, why don't you get the HTC Sensation?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
would love to get sensation.but i jus upgraded to inspire.maybe a few months later.....
besides,i like tinkering with this version of dhd for a little longer, while waiting for sensation to have a cm7 rom...

Galaxy S2 HD LTE - it's a Nexus with an SD slot? Why isn't anyone importing them?

I saw one of these in Korea but couldn't figure out if it had the appropriate bands to work on AT&T. It looks like a slight bigger s2. Beautiful.
Anyone out there got one working on AT&T? If yes, I'm amazed that no one is importing them.

Skyrocket will have ICE on the next ROM but is not pure AOSP, as it will be mixed with TWlauncher as typical by Samsung

This isn't the same phone, the korean S2 HD LTE has the same 720p screen as the galaxy nexus.
ahh my bad, you are right, i didn't read the HD portion
yes, the HD version of SGS2 is the basically the same as NG, but with the added SD card support
i'd have purchased that phone if they made it available with 1700/2100
but the SGS2 HD works just fine for ATT 850/1900
Where have you seen it has the 850 band. Does anyone k ow anyone who has one working on AT&T?
just google up the full specifications
you can do 3G
but you wont get LTE
The Rogers Samsung LTE supports 1700 2100. Its just not HD though.

the normal LTE is not the same as HD LTE
That's just the point... It's not the Same as the LTE. and obviously I have googled it... The info just isn't there. That's why I'm trying to find out if anyone has the HD version working in the US... on AT&T .
Anyone?

What info are you looking for exactly? Just firsthand experience with it? The bands are there, so it should work fine.

Don't think the LTE will be compatible.
Seeing that its only sold in korea i just don't see it having much of a following on here, forget about tons of roms let alone cyanogen mod for it.

My simple question is, will it work 3G and H on AT&T. ????
(I know Lte won't work. Same as the nexus without Lte!)
...does anyone know the *# code to see what bands a Samsung phone has ?

No. This part is hardware related. Well I guess you could rip apart a T-Mobile phone, find the antenna, open the inspire and replace the one in it and them reprogram the radio. Not sure it would work but that's about the only way.

Infuse + T959V modem = TMOUS Compatible?

Hi,
I've really been looking around to get myself a new phone to use on tmobile.
I was just wondering if using a T959V modem on an infuse would bring the ability to use tmobile's 1700mhz HSPA bands.
lemme know if you any of you guys are doing this.
Thanks,
-Phillip

I know the modem can disable certain talk freqs but I think because T-Mobile data freqs are so unique to tmo that other phones just don't support them. it could also be in the ril or even antenna tuning. I've never counted it out but figured someone would have had it figured out by now. I don't feel like getting a tmo sim card just to try it out.

No, it's a hardware limitation, not software/firmware, you'll only be able to utilize EDGE data/gsm.

might be a while before I try so don't hold your breath...
the thing that is weird is good devs have said it'll never happen. what bothers me is the ril,and modem both work and the chip is the same. now Im no expert on wireless or antenna design but antennas can be tuned and its posible there are separate antennae for different freqs not just differt types of connection. there may also be something else needed to support T-Mobile aws but I have a hard time believing its a hardware dependency and not a firmware/framework dependency other than the antenna just being inefficient... but there may be some supporting chip or something. nobody really knows. all we can do is use as much T-Mobile firmware as possible and hope its not a kernel dependency or hardware. I know I don't have the skills for the kernel and if its hardware its a waist of time.
So as for now there is no progress on this field?
Do not really want to change my Infuse especially when there are no good phones for TMobile except HTC One S(((

They do not use the same radio, the radio in the Nexus is a newer model with features the G2 lacks such as LTE Envelope Tracking.

interesting. I gonna have to look that up. thanks
I did a write-up on the radio in the General Nexus 5 forum, maybe search by my username. Suffice to say the radio in this phone is only in 1 other phone and that is the Note 3.

That links in my thread as well as another source. Qualcomm also has a article on this radio, its quite a sweet piece of tech.

I was actually thinking about doing that. My Nexus 5's radio is doing horrible compared to my ATT note 3. Since they use the same radio it would be worth a shot.

Sure, if you want to brick your radio.
By the way, LTE bands are not software limited. Flashing a radio will not open up bands

Not concerned with the bands just the reliability.
At this point my nexus is already bricked since it doesn't operate efficiently.

they do not use the same radio. the radio for the note 3 has att files included, and has been tested for att by att. the nexus 5 radio uses a more generic form of radio, since google doesnt let the carriers add anything to any nexus. flashing the note 3 radio would essentially make the nexus 5 radio stop working completely, forever.
