i am seeing think office application when i am exploring the phone with astro file manager i am could see think free office application, and when i am opening any document attachment it is poping up, but the icon is not visible. Please let me know is this think office is only with viewer or editing is also.
Thanks & regards
T. Sriramakrishna

i have the same problem! i can see it installed but cant see the program. when i go to system and app and try to install it it doesnt do anything but it is listed in my installed apps.

It's a read-only version of the app. It is installed so you can view documents but you can't open it as a stand alone app. If you need to edit/create documents you'll need to install the paid version from the market, or one of the alternatives.

Need help with downloading app from android market!

Hi. I can download all apps from the market exept two apps from same developer! When i search the name of apps, it says that it cant find it. I have also tried appbarin, slideme..etc. but still i cant find those two apps! The apps are visible from the web on my computer when I go to some of sites for apps that also allows downloading from mobile but they are not visible on phone. The apps are free "AndAR Model Viewer" and "AndAR". So if someone can download them for me and send me to [email protected] that would be great!
Thanks
The dev may have taken them down.
I was reading on some forum that the apps are not visible to users with VGA cameras or users without camera on their phones/tablets. I think thats the problem. Can anyone check if the apps are on market?
Thanks
They're available on my market.

I knew it :]
Thanks for confirming it.
Could you download them and send to me on the mail above if it isn't too much trouble?
Thanks.

[Q] Youtube HD

Hi.
I have been searching the forums and the web all day for this, so please don't kill me if I've missed another tread about this!
I love my Galaxy Tab, but i hate the youtube app that comes with it. Even in "HQ" the videos are really blurry.
I have found several sites talking about YoutubeHD.apk and downloaded it from 3 different locations. Tried to install it via Astro, but I always get "did not install".
Have anyone managed to get this to work on the Galaxy tab?
Thank you in advance.
Try this, I haven't tried it.
Back up the Youtube.apk in System/Apps. Rename your new apk to Youtube.apk and copy it in to system/apps. Reboot.
If it doesn't work copy the original Youtube.apk back into its original location (system/apps)... then ask someone who knows more than me.
Thanks for the tips, but I only get "insufficient permission" when I try to move/change the name of the original file with Astro.
Any way to avoid this?
Files probably read only.
Do you even have root access?

did you go into applications and check the one to allow non trusted apps. it blocks any install that aren't from the market unless you check that box. I'm guessing you did but I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss something small and bang your head for too long.
Indeed, you will need root access and a root file explorer. I use 'Root Explorer'. Before doing this, go to Settings > Applications > Check 'Unknown Sources' box.
If you aren't rooted / do not want to root, post a link to the .apk and I will try it for you.
Not sure if the videos are in HD or not, but I use an app called TubeMate.
Go to the Android Market, and search for TubeMate. It allows for viewing and archiving of any YouTube videos in the same browser.
All the videos I've watched and archived using this app has been of great quality, not blurry at all.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I have root access, and have tried renaming the file in Root explorer(get a "read only" message).
I have also checked the "allow non trusted apps" box.
Heres the link to the APK:
mediafire.com/file/zzz1ktzy2nl/YouTubeHD.apk
If anyone with a little more knowledge about Android could try this it would be great.
I wish I could help ya but I haven't experienced this problem....all the HQ videos from you tube look great on my tab?
Ins0: Look at the pictures in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7120200&postcount=2
Is your youtube app really as crisp as the tubedroid video there?
Try to download a HD version of a file, and then stream the same file. You will see a HUGE difference.
In almost all the forum posts I have found around people mix HQ with HD(and they are happy with HQ), maybe I'm just to much of a perfectionist...
There is a new Youtube app on the Android market.
I have updated, and it is actually a little better, but still not even close to the quality I get when downloading the same file in HD from jetVD.
Have anyone else tried the HD apk i linked to?

I think jet vd is the best and you can even download youtube on tab

JetVD is great, but as far as I know it's not possible to sign in to your own youtube account? I use youtube mostly because of my subscriptions. Still nobody tried the APK i linked to earlier?

Problem: Installed apps from SD not showing in Market under My Apps.
Question: Is there a way to make them show up in the Market app, under My Apps.
Side loaded apps will never appear in the Market for you. The Market only keeps track of apps you purchase and/or download from it. Sorry!
Tnx Mike for clearing that up for me
Sometimes even apps installed from the Market might not show up in your market account.
Though supposedly if you uninstall and re-install a free app, your apps will then all be listed.

[Q] Basic Q - where are paid apps stored + backup

As a new Android user with the samsung I have just downloaded and paid for my first App from the Play Store.
How do I back it up in case I need to restore it in the future?
Where is the app stored? I downloaded Sketchbook Pro but when I look in the folder that has been created there are no files!
Uset Titanium Backup for data. Play remembers that you purchased The app, so it probably even restores itself if you eg reset your device.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using XDA Premium HD app
No need to backup, really. Play Store will have it for you when you reset your device so you can install it again and on as many devices as you want as long as they use your email address.
If you are root. go to /system/ app/ this is where they usually are . Some apps use your personal media space to share data.. like in .. /sdcard/android/???? somtimes this is a folder called obb.. Sometimes the /sdcard could be / data/ sorry i do not yet have this tablet but looking forword to getting it . As soon as i get my refund for the two nexus 7 defective devices i sent back..
What about apps like Plague inc. which have in app purchases?

As long as you purchase from Google play and use the same email account, Google will remember the in-app purchases too. I purchased an app that had an in-app option which i also bought, installed the same app on two devices i.e.tablet and phone and had no issues including the in-app aspect.
App backup and restore works fine for me, just backing up the app but not the data.
Aside from the fact that your purchases are tied to your Google account as they said, you can use AirDroid (which is really really handy) to pull APK files from your device and make back-up copies on your PC. Just don't, you know, distribute them.

I use ES Taskmanager and ES Exlorer to backup and access my apps. It allows you to select where you want to save your backups and it gets all the apps I have tried including purchased apps like Sketchbook Pro. Then I like to copy the backed up apps and store them elsewhere for safe keeping in case for some reason that app gets dropped from where I got it or it is replaced with a version I don't like. BTW you don't need to know where the app is ES Taskmanager will find them. Note some apps when you find where they are they are listed with odd names like "vnz-1111881564.apk" for Kindle reader so knowing where they are does not really help all the time but ES Taskmanager shows the name you will recognize.

How to remove installed app from market

I am rooted and familiar somewhat with TB . I have a hide my text app from the market which works well and even hides the icon, but it still shows up under the market as installed. I tried destroying market link but no luck.
Anyone know what I can do here?

Try uninstalling it via the Play Store instead of doing it directly via the phone.

I don't really understand exactly what you're trying to do, but what I think you're saying is that even though you've uninstalled the app it's still showing that you have installed it in the past, so you want to remove your history of having installed it?
Try going to the Play Store, then click the upper left icon to bring up the side view, then go to 'My apps.' Once there to to the 'all' tab and search for the app you want removed from your installation history and press the x on the right side.
Thanks guys... But sorry I wasn't clear. I want to keep the app, it was free, but not have it show up on the play store as being installed

I think I did what you said in your original post. If you go into Titanium Backup and then click on the app you want to hide, then go to the special features tab, then under "play store/market" click detach from market. The first time I tried it it actually didn't work... So I tried rebooting the phone and it still showed up, however, after going back to Titanium backup and toggling between attach and detaching from the play store/market it seemed to work. Try messing around with it a little more and see if it works.
EDIT: My mistake, it still is showing up in the all tab of google play, but not the installed tab... I'll keep messing with it.
Alright, guys (@Jaeryl, @Josh McGrath), here's my recommendation.
Instead of using Titanium, try copying the actual .apk of the text editor app from /data/app to the external sdcard. Then, go into Google Play on your PC and completely delete that text editing app. Refresh your device so that the app is also removed from there.
All you have to do now is go back to where you copied the .apk, install it, and voilá - your app is effectively eliminated from the Play Store, but is also still installed, just like you wanted.

I was actually about to suggest this... if you can't figure out how to do is you can always uninstall the app then just download an apk of the app online. I read that if you install it as an apk it won't be associated with the play store and thus won't show up.

That's exactly right.
See, Google Play can't and doesn't detect every app on your system, just the ones that came from the store itself that are being synced to all your devices. Think about it this way - a Nook Touch device uses the Barnes and Noble bookstore, and when you buy a book from the bookstore, B&N remembers it anr syncs it to all of the devices hooked up to your account.
However, if you download a PDF or ePub book from the Internet and sideload it onto your Nook, B&N doesn't know or care about it - all they care about is the products you purchase from them. And this means that that sideloaded book will not appear on your B&N account, nor will it be synced to your other devices.
Hopefully that little analogy helps you understand it a bit better.

From Google Play store, tap and hold on the app you seeing as installed, you will see remove or delete option there. Remove it, so you would never see that app again in installed list.
