Gtalk Video Chat and Voice Chat Only Wifi? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It works fine over wifi but when I try over 3G it says I must be in wifi. What gives?

It can work with 3G, my friend use chinaunicom 3G(WCDMA), and I use Wifi. We have test the new Gtalk video call. The video quality is fine.

Indeed - no video over 3G for T-Mo US at least.

Considering the nexus line always starts on T-Mobile I find it hard to believe they would not be a supporting provider. I am sure we will get this cleared up soon.

yep same here. i'm on t-mo in the USA. this if f-ing bull$hit! i was so excited, and then came this kick in the balls!

Yeah this beyond sucks... just like a certain fruit company grrrr

I agree this is BS.
Confirm the same. No video chat over 3G on Tmobile
Upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4.
There must be a work around! Whack.

it's one of those Locked Market deals like Skype only offering Video chat clients to specific carriers, and if you are not on that, then you can't use it
it might be one of those things where Apple has the sole market deal to offer video chat, and other devices are not allowed sort of deal

Has anyone tried market enabler to change their carrier ID? Worth trying...

Same here, I don't get it. Tango works on 3G but Google Chat needs WIFI? WTF. I don't think it's T-Mobile otherwise Tango would have to be WIFI only too, no??

False it is T Mobile according to Google.

Do you have anything from google saying that? Not sure if I buy it. As i said tango works 3g but tmobile blocks gchat? If it's tmo they'd block tethering too...

No...but I will give it a test run. The only thing is, I don't believe this one will be hacked to be able to call over 3G, like the one I have now.
Will test now..

Netflix on HTC Sensation

In case anyone was wondering, Netflix DOES work great on the Sensation. I put it on today and it works flawlessly. The picture quality is unreal. The file I used is netflix-new-mod2.apk, I think I found that in the Netflix for the Mytouch 4g forums, but I suspect any of them would work. Give it a try...
BTW Here's a Link to the Netflix app I spoke of. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150

Netflix Official
I found that you can download Netflix directly from the market now, although it is not in the list of supported devices. It previously wasn't available at all. There seemed to be a resolution problem after closing the app.... Any ideas??
netflix will kill your data plan forget netflix
The is true forget netflix because of data and staring september you have to pay 7.99 for stream and 8.99 for dvd. I'm going to canel my account after that.

Hello all I have a HTC Sensation on T-mobile - tried this specific one and no joy.
It installs fine, but I get a very specific error when I try and play my queue.
I get "netflix loading" then after a good 5-10 minutes of trying it comes back with "There is a problem connecting to Netflix. Please try again later (13005)."
I called netflix and they told me it is because the error means my device is unsupported which I know it isn't officially listed yet so that was nothing I didn't expect.
I have T-mobile - lowest data plan and I'm over the usage cap of full speed so it is on the lower speed at the moment.
I don't know that this is what is making a difference or not, but thought I'd add it.
I run the phone stock with all current updates installed.
I see numerous posts saying which apk a specific user was able to get working and oddly enough I get the same error from having tried several of them - including the official netflix 1.3 app from the android marketplace, netflix-mod-2.apk, com.netflix.mediaclient_246.apk, and com.netflix.mediaclient-1.apk (the link provided above took me to this one).
Has anybody seen this/overcome it on a stock HTC Sensation and if so - how specifically?
To add insult to injury btw the com.netflix.mediaclient_246.apk one I found works great for my dad on his mytouch 4g when none of the other ones did for him.
Any help appreciated
Respectfully,
Neil

Yeah, it's definitely not in the market because apparently T-Mobile and other carriers have added it as a subscription that you have to pay for in T-Mobile TV. I found the free app by doing a google search for Crackle apk.
Hope that helped...

for me too !!!
Maybe I'm making something out of nothing here, but if Netflix is charging for this type of service, how can crackle come in and deliver movies and TV shows for free without the movie industry and network television making a stink and/or threaten with lawsuits?
I really don't know too much about Crackle, but what I do know is, if something seems too good to be true, it generally is.
Not sure about what kind of agreement they have to pull this off but there are sure lot of ads while playing vids... and I mean right in the middle of it. Where they stick ads make no sense.
Steam quality is nowhere near Netflix.
Still, they got stuff for steam that are not available on netflix steam.
Covers lot of bases having both on my phone.
I did try it on the Sensation and it works. Sadly it doesn't work on my G-Slate. And yeah, the ad placement is horrible.
