Does Windows Mobile 7 includes a full Office Mobile?
Some phones reviews state that Office is included, like it may be not there, while MS states its part of Windows Mobile 7. And I understand it's free with Windows Mobile 7 phone? If not present in all Windows Mobile 7 phones, is it possible to download and install MS Office mobile legally?
yes Office 2010 is included in WP7.. OneNote is now actually usable & syncs with the Skydrive cloud not via the flaky WMDC..
Yep but the only issue I found using this Office 2010 is that we can't store documents directly on the phone, need a cloud account. Which is quick disappointing.
You cant store any of them on the phone? Thats past disappointing, that is criminal.
So why does the microsoft website talk about saving word,excel docs to the phone? You can't trans by usb anymore, either have to email it to yourself or upload from pc to skydrive and then to phone.
Windows Phone 7 has Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and OneNote) built in. You can store files on the device, but you have to get it to your device either through e-mail or by using an online file storage service (like SkyDrive) that is accessible from your phone. There is no dragging and dropping files onto your phone from your computer, in other words (at least not yet).
Once you open the document you emailed to yourself, or downloaded through the browser, they remain on the phone for future use. If you create a new document, that is also automatically saved onto the phone, and you can always e-mail your document to yourself later to get access to it elsewhere.

I have Microsoft Money Mobile installed on my AT&T Tilt. I do not have a copy of Microsoft Money for my desktop however, and I would like to be able to export the data that is on my phone so I can view it on my desktop.
I've tried SQLCE Desktop Manager, but it is unable to see the databases.
When I explore the device through ActiveSync, I can see the databases, but cannot manipulate them as files.
I also tried UltraSoft MoneyLink, but it is only a plugin for Excel, which I also do not have (I'm an OpenOffice user).
Thoughts on how to get the data out of my phone?

I know this is not what you are after but, 2006 Microsoft money had the abilty to sync your Money with your PPC. I liked that interface and used it quit a bit. Money 07 and on , Microsoft dropped the feature.

Indeed, that is not what I'm after...I just need to dump the databases to a CSV or some other easily-parsed format.
I've been on a blackberry for many years and the Bold isn't thrilling me, so I'm thinking of making the jump to the Touch Pro/Fuze on AT&T when it is released. I've never used a HTC or WM device.
I've seen many reviews and demos of the handset on youtube, but what I haven't seen anywhere is a demo/description of the desktop program to sync the handset with a PC.
I use outlook, so I shouldn't have a problem with email, contacts, etc., but what about word, excel or pdf document transfer? What about music, photo and video transfer? What about video conversion?
Can anybody running the Touch Pro in Europe (or running a European version in the US) give a basic rundown of the desktop software for syncing?

Well if you're using it with a Microsoft Exchange server, you can have direct push and it's essentially the same thing as a blackberry. the only caveat is that you need to have access to your company's Outlook Web Access (OWA) website - basically a website that would let you get your email in a web browser.
I've been using it for a few days now and it works flawlessly. I synced all my data using USB and then chose what i wanted transferred over the air and from then on I only connect when i'm in the office to charge and it syncs via usb rather than over the air at that time.
You'd need to have a data package through the wireless carrier tho so you don't get charged outrageous data fees.
Blackberry Connect also works great ont the TP if your work is using a Blackberry server.
Activesync and BB Connect will work for my outlook stuff (email, tasks, calendar, contacts, etc.), but what about syncing pictures, videos, music, or data from 3rd party apps (password keeper, etc)?
For example, on my Blackberry, I sync via desktop manager and each time any photos or videos I have taken are synced to my PC. Also, I back up the phone periodically through desktop manager so that I can restore if something happens or I need to do a hard reset or am upgrading the OS, etc.
Also, the desktop manager contains a Roxio program to manage media, and Blackberry offers Mediasync to manage music through iTunes.
Does the TP have similar software?
Activesync for XP and Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista do what you want and must be installed for the phone to sync.
try installing windows mobile device centre. you should have it already on you pc if you are running windows 7. if not, download it for free from microsoft
I'm running WinVista x64, which uses the Windows Mobile Device Center to manage syncing instead of ActiveSync. From reading on this forum, I understand that Office Mobile included on the AT&T Fuze is Office 2007, right? I'm using Office 2003 on my PC and I can't get the Word, Excel, or OneNote files to actually synchronize. I don't mean putting them on the device; I'd like to update one file on the Fuze and have the corresponding file on the PC updated next time I sync. Does Windows Mobile 6.1 and WMDevice Center really not support this functionality?! I can't figure out how to make this work. When I click on the "Files" and "manage settings" (or something like that) I get an unhandled exception error. Do I need to reinstall WMDevice Center on my PC? I also tried Documents to Go (3rd party software). I like their Word and Excel applications better than Office Mobile, but the Adobe Reader LE is better than PDF to Go. However, DocsToGo doesn't even support syncing documents on the Windows Mobile platform (or at least not with Vista and WMDevice Center).
Please help! I'm really floundering around here with this thing. There's so much to like about this phone (and so much that I do like about this phone) that I find it impossible to believe that I can't sync changes in a Word or Excel file with my phone and PC; something I've done on the PalmOS for years now!

Cert was invaild in PIE as well. clicking on the install link returns a 404 error
The cert is invalid period (for all browsers)
The security certificate doesn't match the domain.

Not everyone has Exchange unfortunately....
Why? There are free servers available.
Because you can only have 1 activesync connection at the same time.
I already sync my mail & calendar with my work exchange server and would like to sync my contacts & calendar with myphone or another comparable service.
I prefer exchange activesync in combination with livemesh - the only thing I don't get back-ups of are my sms messages (shrug).
Livemesh is just so more useful to me.
i just want to grumble a little about Microsoft's rather piecemeal way of sorting out OTA sync data. I use Windows Live Mobile, but this does not allow calendar sync, so I am forced to use Google Sync and Google calendar. I use Live Mesh to sync all my other files. Now MyPhone comes along, and I am finding it very hard to imagine why I would ever want to use this program at all. The only thing it may be useful for is putting the cabs for WLM, Google Sync and Live Mesh on it so that new phones which come with MyPhone preinstalled will be able to download and run the programs.
Why can't Windows Live Mobile come preinstalled with all phones and be a more full-featured service?

I must correct myself here, myphone is useless if you already have an activesync connection in place.
If you do, myphone cannot sync your calendar, tasks and contacts (even if your not syncing them via activesync at all).
It is not really direct-push like sync as well. The smallest possible automatic sync interval is once per day.
I cannot really find any use to sync my phones images, music etc with myphone. It's waaay faster to just put them on the sd-card directly via a card reader...

Yeah, but Live Mesh could do this anyway, as long as you install after a hard reset/new phone.

Indeed, moreover, you can select individual folders with live mesh to sync, mymobile only allows to select the the whole storage card! which puts you straight over the 200mb limit.
Microsoft needs to get a grip, there is a whole range of products that overlap in functionality but don't work together....

Well, with all our grumbling, it looks like Microsoft is listening and is hoping to more tightly integrate My Phone with Windows Live. I just wonder how long it will take and whether it will be ready by the time 7 rolls round.
Tighter integration with Windows Live services: Window Live suite of services provides a fantastic user experience around Contacts, Calendar, Photos and other user needs. We too are big fans and ardent users of these services and it is natural for you all to ask for tighter integration so that all of your personal data is consolidated in one single view. The initial goal for My Phone service was to test the concept and validate that we are solving a real problem for the users. Now that we have a resounding vote of confidence for the service our future plans are moving in this direction.
Support synchronizing additional data: Your phone is a very personal device for lot of us. For some of us it is akin to having all of life in your hands and it is not fun thinking about losing all of this information. We have tried to support syncing the most frequently used data types keeping in mind the current and future trends but at the same time we have room for growth in this area for syncing additional information. There has also been active discussion around providing flexibility to select folders and files from the phone for syncing it with the service and also providing the option to sync Contacts, Calendar and Tasks even though they are managed by Exchange/ActiveSync.

so I've been trying to figure out this whole "cloud" concept.
(1) Using Windows Live Mesh 2011, I'm able to keep folders on my pc synced in the cloud on my skydrive. However, am I able to access these documents from my handset?
(2) Do I have to manually upload documents onto my skydrive or is there some option in microsoft office/word to upload them?
(3) I guess it's impossible to upload document files from your handset to your skydrive
so what I don't get is, why did they decide to go into this whole "cloud" concept, only to have the "cloud" not work the way it should?

I've been able to access SkyDrive from my WINDOWS 7 PHONE (HTC HD 7) I can view the files in SkyDrive, open up a document and read it/view etc. But I can't download them onto my handset, so i can edit them and such in MS Office on my phone. According to MS Office on the windows 7 phones, you gota use something called sharepoint.

they don't have it properly intergrated into the office hub at present but rumour has it that it will come as part of the update. what you can do however is in IE visit skydrive.com, and from there view your skydrive, open files, edit them, save them, and they auto update on their own. i am not sure if it will allow for adding though.
from reading around here, onenote can sync to skydrive though, so i'm pretty sure that with the right setup at present, you can get that going at least.

just googled skydrive, got windows skydrive up, logged in and viewed all my docs on there. I can click them and open them, view and read, but i can't edit them :S
Unless I'm missing something haha, don't get my wrong i like the fact i can open them from skydrive and read them. But i want them on my phone, in MS Office so i can edit etc
i don't think you can edit the files on skydrive directly
you can save them to your phone (bring up the menu in your file and select save as) and then edit them
and then you can upload to skydrive using the same name...
unfortunately there isn't an easier way to do it.

i actually like the whole cloud thing..
the only thing is that i am on a 500MB a month tariff (orange) so i worry about going over that..
but the cloud system means that everything is in sync and you don't have to fiddle around with USB sticks etc for small files.
i have all my contacts synced onto Google and windows Live and same with my calendar.
I personally prefer Google because its cloud products have more features and is a lot lot faster...i find windows live very slow..
Ya, i just added my Skydrive documents folder to a mapped drive, so now i can just drag and drop files... nice
Thought i would give it a go dropping a word doc in the Onenote folder to see if it would sync to the phone... but no lol... worth a go though.
At least now i have a nice easy way rather than going to the website and using an upload box. be it ok... this way is much nicer.

going to have to wait till they release office 365... sharepoint doesnt even work with our phones right now unless you happen to have a dedicated quad core server running sharepoint on that or something. I fiddled with it all for DAYS trying to get it so I could access work documents on my phone from sharepoint but NOPE! Pretty radiculous. Office 365 isnt even going to be available probably for another year! *sigh*
Originally SkyDrive and LiveMesh were products that had nothing whatsoever in common (except for being Cloud services). Lately Microsoft decided to merge them a little - so now you got a 25 GB SkyDrive AND a 5 GB Sync-SkyDrive. Those two can't talk to each other and if you got a Word Doc on the Sync-Drive you can't open it in office Web. If it's on the REAL Skydrive you can access it.
Unluckily only the pictures hub and OneNote currently integrate with the real SkyDrive and there is no integration with the Sync-Drive.
My guess is that doc/xls/ppt, etc. access from the office hub to SkyDrive is coming with an update.
When Microsoft is gonna clean up the mess of the two different SkyDrives is an entirely different matter - would like to see them merged (even if I afterwards have only 25 GB instead of 25 + 5).

Actually I'm trying to figure out how Skydrive is supposed to work, but I don't understand the idea...
Its limitations ruin the whole concept:
- Impossible to upload folders to Skydrive. This is insane.
- Each transfer is limited to 50MB.
Therefore I find Skydrive useless for business purposes, especially compared to other systems such as Dropbox.
In my daily job I need to transfer folders of office files. And they need to stay organized as such.
If I cannot upload folders to Skydrive, or if I can only upload files without any organization. what's the use?
