I am in Baltimore Maryland... Ever since i upgraded to jf's rc33 firmware, i get aloooooooooot of " undelivered message" notifications. This never used to happen to me, maybe once a week with 2 messages. In most cases people ask me why the F am i triple texting, and it happens when i try to resend the messages and the phone keeps saying "message cannot be delivered". Is anyone else experiencing this? In maryland only perhaps?
I have tried keeping message count below 100, reseting the phone seems to be the only quick fix. One other thing, when i try to make phonecalls every now and then, the **** just hangs up as soon as the call is placed and when i receive a call sometimes and i press the answer key, it takes about 10 seconds to answer and continues to ring. suggestions buddys?
Make sure you delete your SMS threads if they get too long. Typically once threads get past 150 they are slow and take a while to open. If you are using the stock sms try chomp seems to handle threads better. I have JFRC33 and have not issues.
My wife and I have the exact same problem with the phone hanging up and not picking up a call for while. And dropped calls - almost always. And we live in the heart of Dallas.
yea the g1 is a nice phone, but either android or t-mobile blows..
every now and then people call me, and i get a missed call, but the phone never rings,
and sometimes when i call people, they pick up but one of us cant hear the other,
and sometimes, the g1 will ring, but when i press the green button to anwser, the phone continues to ring
im getting pissed off,
rc29, rc33 both fail to work
I am in Baltimore as well, and I have JF1.42 RC33, without any of the problems you have. Sorry, can't be of more assistance, but maybe your SIM card is old and needs to be replaced? I have heard of them causing issues sometimes.
yup same thing is happening to my phone. it is really starting to piss me off. i thought it was cuz i dropped my phone but i guess others have been getting the same thing. i hope theres a fix for this
I had this happen to me about two days ago. SMS failed to send to anyone. I restarted the phone and havent had a problem since. They are still developing this unit, so try to be patient.
i've had some calling issues recently, both making and receiving.
sometimes when receiving a call, i'll pick up and my phone will reboot, and take absolutely ages to boot up. and when making calls the other end will sometimes go completely dead and it's the same for the other person.
only happens very occasionally but it's happened with a few landline calls and different mobile networks. only been since RC33 too. not saying it's related but it is kinda annoying.
Wipe fixes all
unless the problem's firmware/hardware related, then it does **** all.
Wipe and wait
Could be too many apps eating memory on the G1 and/or buggy apps crashing buggy android. The best you can do is download mybackup from market, back up all data +sms+ageda etc, Wipe the phone. An dont install a single app from the market in 1-3 days and see if problems dissapear.
Personally, i never install any app who claims to "start at boot" Never. MyBackup is one of them and always delete it after backup. i may be wrong but i thing resident in memory apps and apps who starts at boot degrades performance over time, because many of them are buggy so i avoid using them. Well my phone runs fine with this.
buggy behavior
well i think this happen when phone memory is full, try to delete least used applications, clear applications cache like browser and youtube , then do a reset.
Ive had the issue more than a few times where the phone will start ringing but the screen will stay dark, i wait until it turns on to see who is calling after a few rings and then it wont respond to pressing the answer button unless i press it a few times, and even then it takes its sweet time answering. Ive dropped plenty of calls due to this, and yes it has only started happening after the radio firmware/RC33 update.

Oh... don't even start my on "MyBackup"... I kept trying to figure out why my phone was lagged so much when I was going back to home screen. Uninstalled apps that were running all the time one by one. MyBackup and Phonebook were 2 biggest memory hogs. Phone runs oh so smooth after I unistalled those 2. Backgrounds app still autostarts for some reason but I like that app too much to uninstall and it does not cause as many problems.

I still have this problem after another wipe..
why does android suck...
i wish tmo would come out with a winmo 3g phone, so much more stable and with more features =(.. i miss my shadow now
I started running into the issue of the phone not actually responding to the "answer call" button, but found it was only happening when I had auto-rotate set up with the DroidSans tools and the display had been rotated to landscape. It seemed like it would start trying to switch to portrait, then lock itself up long enough for the call to go to voicemail, then flip to portrait and be responsive again. I haven't had the problem since I disabled auto-rotate.
However, on the "too many apps" thing, I've suddenly started noticing that my phone will start a good 15-20 apps on startup, including things like AK Notepad. I didn't notice if this was something that started with RC33 or if I've done something else to make this happen...does this happen with anyone else?
I have had a similar issue with my g1 dropping calls and will sometimes see a force close while on a call as well. I did a wipe and did not enable auto rotation and so far it seems to be running more smoothly.
Been there done that...I am having the same issues and it is beginning to drive me nuts. I make heavy heavy use of my phone on a daily basis. Dropping calls where they just go to la la land...or the phone rings and I cannot answer for about 10 to 15 seconds, the phone just reboots for no reason... stupid things like that. I have RC33 rooted, radio upgraded with JF 1.41 and this has been happening daily about 3 times or so a day. I love my G1 and I have a hard time parting with it...I am trying to be patient while it develops but...I am about to go get the 8900 curve...
I forgot to mention...I had to do a wipe on my phone also due to a problem with the accelerameter and that did not help this issue either.

it seems to me that it is tmob related, since i`ve had that b4 on my lil nokia phone.
Guys,
I have a very weird problem that started a couple of days back with my Galaxy Tab.
I was running a game (game name does not matter as the problem happens in all games) when all of a sudden the 'Pause' screen came into effect.
After hitting any key to continue it played for around a further 20 seconds then it happened again... and again... and so on.
Some games simply pause whilst others will flip back to the reload the game screen then flip to the press continue to play screen.
Whatever it is it only effects games.
I have tried several reboots and looked at all my recently installed/updated Applications but can not ascertain what is causing the issue.
Further, whilst browsing through my installed Apps using the App 'System Panel' (to see if I could locate the offending App) I also noticed when I scrolled down through my installed Apps every few seconds the list would jump back to the beginning of the list.
No matter how many times I scrolled down after a few seconds it repeatedly jumped back to the beginning.
After about a minute or so it stopped doing this.
It's almost as if something is paging the system every so many seconds ~ which may also explain why when playing games it drops the game into Pause mode.
Anyway, the Galaxy Tab is a stock Tab unaltered. It is not rooted nor had a ROM change.
At this stage I do not wish to update the ROM nor perform a factory reset.
As a surgeon you investigate the cause of the problem and not simply give the patient a tablet to mask the pain and send them on their way..... I wish to do the same with the Tab, find out what is causing the problem and not just do a system reset.
Any ideas ladies & gentlemen?
Same problem
I have the same problem on my stock ROM tab.
It's nerve wrecking to reinstall everything again.

As the OP that reported this I feel for you.
I have no idea what caused the problem nor do Samsung.
All I can say is I switched the phone off one night because it was playing up that bad and used my Galaxy S that evening.
The following morning I switched the phone back on again and mysteriously the problem simply vanished.
All I can think is whatever was causing the problem must have been memory resident.
Killing the phone for a long period must have cleared the issue.
I have not come back and reported it is fixed yet as I want to do further tests just to make sure it has gone but more importantly try to find out what caused it in the first place.
In a way although I do feel for you I also am pleased someone else has the problem.
This proves it is not a totally isolated case and may crop up again.
The tests I am currently trying are with the external SD card.
Do you have an external SD card and did/does the problem happen only with games installed to the card?
I have found that all but one of the games were installed in this way.
The one game not installed to SD that when run pauses behaves in a slightly different manner in that it does not pause every 20 seconds or so but every 1 minute or so.
I am beginning to think the problem may be something to do with timing, memory and the external SD card.
I may have caused this...this a.m., I picked up my gTab when it was almost finished booting. I accidentally hit the power button, which turned the screen off. I had to fiddle with it a minute to get the screen on...it kept going right back out after I pushed the power button. I finally got it on (no reboot from here).
From there, it was nuts. I was greeted with having to pick my launcher again. Then I got a slew of force closes. Almost nothing would start, and the few things I did get to run (Mail'd, Dolphin) ran like they were new installs. Rebooting did the same.
Finally, I ran fix permissions from CWM, and it would start without FCs. However, anything I had tried to start before was still like new installs (EULA, setup wizards, etc). I managed to restore some of those via Titanium.
Still, it's not back to normal. Some recent apps (like, Fieldrunners from yesterday) no longer appear to be installed. Really fubar.
Could this be caused by the power button thing? Or is it a sign of impending doom? Is there a better way to fix this other than what I've done?
Oh, and I forgot to mention...I started Amazon appstore to downloading today's app, and then was restoring old apps via Titanium. In the middle of that, it played a sound I've never heard...like a few seconds, ending with this weird sliding reverb. But...I wasn't sure if that was Amazon's download finishing in the background? Usually I wait on the download. But it was longer than a typical notification sound.

Wow, I am experiencing the same situation as you. I didn't hit any power button either. I am on VeganTab 5.1 and now contemplating a flashing to a new GB ROM.
Sorry, man, it really sucks. Obviously, I didn't get much feed back as to what or why. Fortunately, I had a not too old backup with Titanium, and was able to get most things back with just a few clicks. Other things I had to set back manually. Took me a couple of hours to get back to what I thought was "right".
I did figure out the odd noise was a ringtone, and it had set my email notification to that ringtone sound. It wasn't even on my tab before, as far as I know. So I have no idea where that came from.
I'm thinking of Flashing to Cyanogenmod myself. But without knowing the why...it still won't make me feel too much better.

Thanks TarheelGrad. I did a permissions fix and that has worked for me too. Not sure why it went bonkers.
My stock ROM crashes (or auto-reboots) every 9 days 9 hrs 30min like a clock.
It happened for at least third time in a row, or most likely it is going on like this all the time because I only noticed this odd behavior when I installed a little "uptime" app. After 3 times obviously that's not coincidence, something is causing my phone to crash or reboot every 9d 9hrs 30min.
Has anyone else notice or had same problem?
Stock rom, locked/unrooted, with stock apps and very few extra apps installed, after previous crash I removed almost everything I had installed in the past, I kept only AirDroid, ColReader, Google Drive, File Manager, Mobo player, Skype, SPB TV, TeamViewer - nothing else, yet it still crashed. I can't figure out is it ROM or any of the apps.
edit - perhaps I should have posted in ROM development... Moderator, please move it?
I wish I could help but I've never been able to stay on the stock ROM for that long.
But....no, you've posted in the right place. Put it in developement and it'll get moved to HERE.
There's a TMobile app on there that monitors the days until suggested reboot (7 days) and will then proceed to "warn" you consistently when you're over that period. It is possible that this app is clashing with one of your other apps or doing something in the phone - maybe using too much memory? /shrug
My phone does the exact same thing after a week but it doesn't reboot, it just randomly "soft-crashes" after I hit the back or home key while playing a game or backing out of dialer, apps, etc.
It's extremely annoying and happens whether I have few apps or my normal stock of apps; the only time it doesn't happen at all is after a factory reset (if I don't update anything).
The only thing I can do to stop it is to reboot the phone, as suggested on the 7th day...as soon as I see that notification, I reboot and so far so good.
Good Luck.
Hi. My device worked just perfect until 5 days ago. It slowly began to ignore some tasks like opening apps or doing calls.
2 days ago my google pixel with Android 8.0 started to ignore every input i made, like opening apps or trying to reboot. It behaving like this after taking some pictures with the rear cam. After some attepts in opening apps it started to reboot. But instead of a normal reboot it stuck in a booting screen (the one with the Google G and a gray animation bar underneath). It took a while and i waited until it seemed that the OS booted correctly. But after this my device started to reboot randomly after a few minutes. After a while i figured out, that i can hold the power button while the screen with the google G was up to reboot it normally. This worked so that the phone was at least half an hour or more working until it rebooted again out of nowhere.
So far i tried to get it in safe mode and delete some apps like whatts app etc. In safe mode i didnt notice any crashes so far.... but in normal one it does a lot so deleting apps wasnt helpful. Turning on flight mode was not helpful either.
What can I do? What could it be?

Same thing happens with my Pixel, sometimes the phone is just get stuck on some random screen then I have to press and hold it for 15 seconds to let it reboot again. Lately I have started to see another problem, when it reboots bunch of google apps and services stops working and gives hell lot of notifications. All this started to happen after Android Oreo update

I noticed problems with my ear speaker as well. And i cant make phone calls. The phone doent respond anymore when i try to.
Same problem after android 8.0 update
If you have installed the latest Google phone/dialer app, that is likely the problem, was for me.
Find the app in settings and uninstall,it will roll back to a previous version and hopefully fix your issues.

My pixel does the same thing, ever since I updated to 8.0, have you tried doing a factory reset? I haven't done it yet, I have been uninstalling apps for the last couple of days, when it is in safe mode it works good, but when it's not, it freezes and restarts. I'm going to try uninstalling the latest version on google dialer to see if it helps.
I just want to update everyone in case you are having a problem with the random reboots.
I uninstalled the phone update and it was still randomly rebooting so I backed up the stuff that I needed and just did a factory reset. I have been a full day on my phone without any problems. I did a factory reset twice, just in case, for some crazy reason, the phone still had a problem, I wiped it twice! I think you'll be good with only wiping once.
Anyways to sum it all up, I did a factory reset, restored all of my backed up data from my pixel, I had about 120 apps and the phone has not had a problem since. I hope it helps someone else.

Mate, please report if you're still getting the reboots. Mine disappear for two weeks after I do a factory reset and then come back. Same happens in Safe Mode. Bug report claims it's 'Sense Key : Hardware Error [current]' and Google rep says it's a hardware issue (Toshiba's memory or something). Buganiser thread is here.
wrong place sry
Had this on my pixel xl. I was on the 8.1 beta.
factory reset, rolled back to 8.0
8.1 ota official
haven't had a reboot in over a week now

Yea, the issue is back, has been for about 2 weeks. This phone is really starting to be a pain in the ass, I can't believe that it happens so often. Did you do a warranty fix?
That's a pity. Yes, I did. Got the device roughly two and a half weeks ago. Flashed 8.0 and then sideloaded 8.1 right away. Knock on wood, all good. But there's still a report every other day in Buganiser of a phone even on 8.1 doing this.
Got mine at release. November 16. Google won't replace it either. I have a one pixel brick
I have the same problem. However, it is not frequent enough on Android P beta. But as soon as I go back to the stable build, it starts to do the same thing. Did you guys have any luck resolving this or should I send it back to the vendor I bought it from. They won't replace the device in Pakistan but may be will fix it in some manner.
