My HTC 7 Pro (not Arrive) came with a simpler HTC wired headset with only one button. I therefore bought the HTC RC E240 and RC E160 to try (I've also tried the RC E190) but alas these remote functions don't work as they should. The advance and retard track buttons function only as volume controls and neither could be configured to actually change tracks. My old TyTN II remote control had a patch file released by HTC (for earlier ROM versions) which gave full functionality in all regards. The problem is not with HTCs headsets, its simply that the Zune software on the phone and the OS don't recognise the button presses correctly - something HTC don't seem to want to fix:crying:
When you mention the 3 button headphones that came with your Arrive work - is that as above with different functions or by providing track changing functions? What model of headset is it?

FM Radio signal verry bad

Hallo,
I now have my device for a week and i'm verry happy with it.
But yesterday i tried to use the FM radio in the train and i was verry dissapointed with that.
I can't get a normal signal from any radio station.
I first toth it was because i was in a train..but when i arrived at the trainstation andn walked outside my signal still was verry bad.
I tried a couple of settings in my FM radio but nothing helped.
The only thing i tould worked, was to turn down the volume till 10% en turn the volume on the headset down.
Then i got some signal..but still it was verry bad.
Are there other people with the same problem..is it just a bad FM player in every device..or is my device broken?
Or is it just the headset that can give this problem?
Please can somebody give me some tips to make the signal better so i can use my device in the train as FM-radio.
I have the same problem : very bad signal on FM radio .
Is it a hardware or software problem ?
The radio is useless in this circumstances
Note : a simple "mini player" radio FM bought $3 (there are 6 years) is better than Touch Cruise (Polaris).
It,s not the radio it,s the headphone,try with other (3300's headphone or HTC E100)and u will c.
My radio seems to work fine, not as good as my old Sony Ericsson, but good enough for me.
I know it seems silly but have you tried moving the headphones wire around; don't forget it acts as the antenna for the radio.
Yeah tried that before.
Didn't change anything.
But i will try to use a other headset..maby this will work.
Otherwise im going to give a call to the helpdesk of HTC
My signal is bad as well, i had an old nokia 6610 before the polaris and his radio was way better in signal quality, if someone tests with different headphones please let us know so i`ll change mine.
Called the helpdesk today and they said it is probably the headset.
Tomorrow they will get my device incl. headset back to the factory and will find out wath the problem really is.
So its back to the factory after 1 1/2 week!
Thats really the fastes return i ever had with a device.
Hope this will solve something otherwise it's never a HTC device again
After the disapointing video playback and the rest of the problems with the drivers and now the problems with the fm radio..this is really pising me off.
Well i let you know if the problems are solved when the device is returned to me.

Good Morning,
?
We are sorry for your disappointment, we do understand how frustrating it is. However, the only thing this device has is a radio receiver. It receives FM frequency waves but in other to be able to listen to it you need to add more features to it.
?
Thank you for your enquiry, Should you have any other problem, please do not hesitate to call us. Your Local number can be found at http://www.europe.htc.com/support/csbyphone.html
the isn't any piece that we can put in the pda to increise the sinal?
thanks

Is anyone knows through experience what headset work better with TC?
i think i would have to agree with others to try another headset. fm radio is just pretty much a extra so i wouldnt complain too much. if it would be so good the athena and other devices would have it. it is just there for using once in a while etc.. also i bet though this is htc's work bc if they used a internal antenna instead i bet it would be much better than using the headset

Why is it a extra?
Thay say that it has FM radio in the device..so it's not extra.
Otherwise the phone function is extra to :S..and if that doesn't work i complain about it also..wouldn't you??
If they say its has FM radio than i think that it has to work good..even if i use i a couple of times.
Btw. my device is being sent back..so it's now waiting for a answer from them.
Keep you informated!

I have the wired remote (w100) that i used with my tytn II.
Just a heads up, it's only works with audio manager and windows media player (and htc radio obviously).
My cruise should be here soon hopefully so I will test it out.
HTC seems to take shortcuts with their devices. Antenna should not be in headest, should be in chip, plain and simple.
Also their wired remote is not perfect. It brings audio manager/windows media player to foreground of your phone whenever you press any of the buttons.
Also if you have suspend power on or screen off and you change volume of music via remote, the wakes up the device etc.. but i think if you lock it it might go back to sleep, can't remember.
Also keep in mind that it has a good length cord, from pocket to neck or so, but remmber your headphones you have to attach are long so you have a lot of extra cord! I have to wrap my head phones cord up and use twist ties! If I could find a pair of short wired good head phonesi would be happy but the ones i bought wer normal long wired ones to go with my remote.

I have a Nevada personal DAB/FM radio which I use on the train. The Orbit 2 + E100 is at least as good as the Nevada for FM reception.
The only problem is, as mentioned elsewhere, if you press any of the controls on the E100 when listening to the FM radio the screen comes back on.
Cheers,
Paul

I've seen several people saying something similar to this but I just don't see how it's possible.
FM radio stations use a 3 metre wavelength. What signal level are you going to pick up with an aerial that's max 10 cm long?
I admit I'm no expert on aerial design etc but I have never seen a (useful) FM radio with an aerial less than about 40 cm.
Cheers,
Paul
i have a wireless bluetooth headphone but i can't put the radio working with this device, is there any solution? by the way is there any change of put an internal antena on this device?
The O2 xda ORBIT 2 comes with the E100 and even then the reception isnt that great.

HTC Audio Manager: BT Play/Pause stopped working (Blackstone)

Hello everyone,
I have a somewhat cryptic and annoying problem here. I use an HTC Touch HD (Blackstone) with a hama BSH-240 BT stereo headset. The headset is a four-button one (play/pause, stop, vol up, vol down) with long presses and dual-presses serving as extra keys. It's about one year old, and I used it with my iPAQ rw6815 before switching to Blackstone. Always worked perfectly.
Call me a perv, but I rather like TouchFLO 3d, and it, too, worked for me just fine for two months. Then, SUDDENLY.
Well, not so suddenly, actually, because I did a few things with my phone the day before I ran into the problem: uploaded a few more tracks onto my card, built a new playlist in WMP, and tried a wired headset (since I wanted to listen to a certain radio show).
The first sign of trouble (not sure if it's related at all) was that HTC Audio Manager didn't see my new WMP playlists - I tried it building a new one a couple of times to no effect. I simply started playing from the All Music list (fine by me, that's what my primary playlist is anyway), but then I noticed that the Audio Manager no longer responded to the Play/Pause button on my headset. All other buttons worked fine, and I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem, since the long press on the same button works okay (it's 'repeat last call').
The usual rain dancing didn't help at all (remove/add the Audio Manager tab, re-pair the headset, soft reset) and looking through the TouchFLO/WMP/WM options gave me no clues either.
I googled for hints and searched the forums as well, but didn't find anything of relevance.
I do not expect a magic solution for this, but perhaps someone has run into this problem before me and can give me some hints?
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, could be a dumb moment on my part.
Thanks in advance
Sorry for bumping this, but I have some new information about my problems.
First of all, I made sure the hardware is okay by digging up my old iPAQ and pairing my headset to it. Everything works top-notch.
Moreover, when WMP is running on my Touch HD, all the headset controls work in it. (This means the device is fully usable after all, but I really like the Audio Manager a lot more.) I have a weird feeling WMP somehow hijacked AVRCP from HTC Audio Manager.
Any ideas on how to fix it, perhaps?

Headset problems

Hello!
First of all i want to apologize if i posted in the wrong place. I have an HTC Touch Pro which is running with a 6.5 cooked version (qsqa). The problem is with the headset HTC RC E100 which from this morning behaves strangely.
Before upgrading to a cooked version i had 6.1. The headset worked fine on both versions (though only one day with the cooked version). I said strangely because:
- the phone recognize it as headphone *(though not all times)
- the phone does NOT recognize all of the buttons on the headset (call, end call, volup, voldown, play, mute, hold, next, prev)
Please help.
Desperately yours, Gabi

Using Beats headphones by Dr.Dre with Omnia 7?

I intend to get either the Solo, Solo HD or the Studio by Dr.Dre (MONSTER).
Now my Omnia 7 NEVER detects ANYTHING with Bluetooth and apparently WP7 also doesn't allow the use of buttons on headphones etc.. So if i do get any of the mentioned headphones, will I be unable to use the buttons on them?
"Studios come with an additional Monster iSoniTalkā„¢ headphone cable with built-in call answer button and microphone so you can easily stop the rock and start the talk." Would I be able to use the buttons on the Studios if I use the cable?
thanks guys, Abz
Well I have the solo HD and the new limited edition studios. And the volume button will not work but for my HTC Arrive(7 Pro) I can skip track by double clicking the middle button. But my friend HTC Titan can skip track by double clicking the middle button the the headphones.Only thing that works in my HTC Arrive is the middle button will pause/resume it for music playback.

So some of the controls dont work? Hmm...How many buttons are there on the headphone that are SUPPOSED to work with the phones? And you know the ControlTalk cable? Do the buttons and mic on that work? Can you use the Solo headphones via BlueTooth? LOL and just ONE more question, do you reckon all the controls would work if the headphones were connected to the phone via a A2DP or BlueTooth adapter? Or is it something to do with WP7 and the OS restrictions?
Thanks a lot dude

Well the volume button will not work since they made for iDevices. The mic works on SOME windows phone(Doesnt work on my HTC Arrive) but on any samsung windows phone and HTC Titan the mic works. Not sure about LG windows phone. And yes if you use A2DP or a bluetooth adapter that has controls will work.I use the sennheiser bluetooth headphones and it has 5 buttons on the earcup(volume up,down.next track, back track and pause) and they all work.I recommend to either get the New beats wireless that use bluetooth so the controls will work

Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster is compatible with the following:
-Fully compatible with Windows phones.
-Devices that have a 3.5 mm Nokia AV audio jack using the included microphone equipped cable (limited feature compatibility).
-All phones, music players and other devices with a universal 3.5 mm audio jack (Feature compatibility is manufacturer dependent).

And did is bluetooth built into your Sennheiser headphones? And can you recommend any Bluetooth adapters that might enable the controls on the Beats?

[Q] Xperia J Headset issues....

I've had this phone for a little less than a year now and it was working fine (except the terrible screen issues before JB). Now with 4.1.2 the screen is fine but other stuff are messed up... Headsets basically don't exist for my phone. I've tried various one button headsets and most of the time clicks are not recognized.I haven't tried 3 buttons ones but I can guess the outcome... I mainly want to control my music when walking(Pause/Play etc.) . Every now and then the headset works fine for a few seconds then Google Now/Search or whatever takes control and then that is for headset controls... I tried :
Disabling Google = Google doesn't start whne listening to musc but no recognition for the button...
Various app solutions for controlling headsets = still no recognition..
Rooted and installed Headset Droid for the Google fix = nope
Different music players that come with headset control functionality = same problem.
Tried SmartConnect + SmartKey = it recognizes that is a headset on the event and starts Walkman but then again clicks do nothing..
This has all been tested with the official headset that comes with the phone...
My friends has the same phone bought from a different country. I've stress tested his phone with the same various headsets and it performs great with absolutely no issues,Google doesn't even launch like on mine..... I saw that although he is on the same JB as me (4.1.2) he is running an older Build. I was on 11.2.A.0.31 and he is on 11.2.A.0.21.
I thought I will reflash to an older Stock rom just to see if the software is the issue. I downloaded DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit (v17) and rooted my phone without any issues. Then I downloaded 11.2.A.0.21 No Brand ATA from this forum. I got Flashtool which recognized my phone and I granted it root access. I reflashed with the stock rom with full wipe on cache + data. Phone booted up fine afterwards and it worked quite good. Then I decided to try the headset again. I think you can guess what happened....Same Google issue and no headset functionality whatsoever...
I really like the phone as the sound quality is superior to my Philips mp3 player. I can also have up to 32GB sd which is perfect as I do have a lot of music BUT this headset issue makes listening to music more of a hassle then actual enjoyment... I normally like Sony but I have to admit they have disappointed me when it comes to phones... Not just because of this issue but also the screen problems on ICS which I had to fix with a app made by people on this forum...
I don't know what to do now. I forgot to mention I have not unlocked my bootloader and my phone says : Bootloader unlock allowed : No
in the system service menu. Should I unlock the bootloader with Flashtool and try to go down to ICS which will probably fix the headset and the Google issue but will probably introduce the nasty screen issue..? I don't even know if this is a software issue at all, I would like it to be but i am starting to think that I just have a faulty handset -__- I am probably never buying a phone second hand + phone from Sony again...
I also noticed ST26i_112A021_CE.ftf on 4shared. Is CE better than the no brand one I used ?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I am a programmer myself and although this i tiny issue it is annoying me greatly..
I updated back to .31 OTA out of curiosity and headsets work alright until 5,6 times playing and pausing
music and then it does the usual no response thing until I completely reset the phone.
I was reading on Bluetooth headsets and from my understanding commands from them are on a separate audio stream from the headphone jack. Any idea if same issue will appear if I buy a Bluetooth headset ? I don't want to buy an expensive one and then regret it..

Here's what I do: Look for phillips headset app on the playstore. Install it and configure it to make the changes for a media player that you like and you'll never have problems again.
The next time you pop the headset on the phillips headset app will automatically start and it will also open up the default media player.+ you also get an extra sound boos from the app
So far I have tried :
Philips Headset app
Google Search Disabled: Probably works best, stops accepting commands once I turn the screen off or I play/pause too many times.
Google Search Enabled: The voice dialer/Google Now/Whatever will start up about 10 secs in the song and then forget about any headset control until full phone restart.
JAYS Headset app
Works alright for 5,6 times playing and pausing and then just stops registering clicks. Google Search/Voice dialer affects it in the same way
as Philips Headset.
Headset Button Controller, Ultimate Headset Controller and Headset Droid ( I tried the Google fix) act in the same manner as well....
I've tried just about anything now. I even completely removed Google Search and Voice Dialer from system apps. Even that didn't help..
I guess its just my phone and my only hope now is a bluetooth headset. Hopefully the commands from a BT headset are intercepted and processed differently...
