Since the G2x is a no go, do you all think that the Inspire would be a good choice for a new comer into the android world? I need something that can be easily unlocked and that works on a 850 band for 3g... Was hoping for somehting a bit more up to date, but what do you think? Thank everyone!
This isn't exactly an outdated phone by any means... It's not like you're buying an Aria. Get it and be happy. I just got mine yesterday, after I gave up my EVO to go to T-mobile. I missed that big screen too much.
I think its a good choice and the devs have a good hack kit that's pretty easy to follow. Also it may not be a dual core.but I think the phone.holds its own just fine
Thanks for the opinions so far! As for being out of date, what i was more specifically referring to is it's lack of hdmi out and front facing cam.
From what I have read and continue to hear, this is a great phone though...!
Would like to hear some more opinions though before pulling the trigger although i feel like i might go ahead and buy it tomorrow If anyone has some suggestions on a brick and morter store in the US that my friend can go to to pick one up (prefferably unlocked) that would be great. Online is ok as well, but i would have to do a reliable next day shipping as my friend will not be there for long. Suggestions? Thanks again!
The phone is super fast. This is my first Android and its rooted and Rom'd already after only 4 days. Hdmi out is a gimmik. I don't see a better phone for ATT now or the near future. The build quality is great and it looks cool. Top notch ..get it.

Don't fall for gimmicks; ask yourself how often you really would use those features. I think I used FaceTime once on my old iphone and there's never been a point where I wish I had HDMI out. To me, it's all just marketing telling you what you want when you don't need it.
The Inspire's brilliant, even stock. Root it, flash a custom rom, be happier. I was on the fence between it and the Atrix and, after reading problems about the Atrix (mostly the bootloader being locked down which kind of goes against everything Android stands for) I'm more than happy I went with the Inspire.

If those features are important to you, then no, it's obviously not the phone for you. If you don't see yourself using them, then no worries.
It's my first Android phone too.... great phone, right out of the box. Beautiful, fast, elegant, several friends who have the iPhone 4 were jealous of it. One went out the next week and got the Inspire.
You won't be disappointed in it.

I had the Atrix for 3 weeks before getting the Inspire and used the HDMI output exactly once to browse my pictures and listen to music on my TV, was cool but not very practical for me. The front facing camera on the Atrix and my iPhone 4 would be very choppy and drop the calls pretty frequently when I tried to use. It works great if both callers are using strong WiFi. Plus the person you're calling needs a front facing camera on their device. I'm waiting for the network to be able to handle it before I think about a front facing camera again.
Loving my Inspire.
I agree with the other posts in this thread. It's not that the Inspire isn't "up-to-date", it's that a few other phones are on the bleeding edge. There are also phones that don't yet have 1G processors.
Like anything else, it all depends on what you're after, but I chose the Inspire over the Atrix for its build quality and ability to flash custom ROMs, something not possible on the Atrix... yet. Also, the dual core CPUs might have incrementally higher benchmarks, but in actual use from a user experience standpoint, they're not noticeably faster than the Inspire.
I had a Kaiser with the front-facing camera because I thought that was cool, but didn't use it once.
The Inspire offers DLNA, so if you have a network-enabled TV or BluRay player (and most of us do nowadays), you can pass video, music and pictures to your screen over the network. It's pretty cool stuff.
What really got me was the build quality. HTC makes a very nice phone. It feels good to hold - solid and has some substance, unlike the Atrix and others like it that are light and feel fragile.
Also, if you're upgrading on contract, you have 30 days to live with it, so if you decide you don't like it, you can return it and jump ship.
Anyway, that's my two cents. Give one a try and you'll see what I mean.
Ask what phone is best in every forum and i bet most people will say that the phone for which forum you're in is best. That is to say pride of ownership is ever present in todays society. Not that its a bad thing, hell my best friend is proud . I love my inspire, but there are some crazy bad ass phones coming out. The first factor I look at is dev support and hackability. Good luck.

Like the majority of people have stated - it is fantastic, get it!
This is also my first Android phone, though I'm not new to the tech world of hacking, rooting, flashing, etc etc. I gave up on the iPhone after having every model since the original and couldn't be happier with this phone. Front facing camera (in my opinion, of course) is useless. I might have used mine on the iPhone 4 a few times. HDMI out is of absolutely no interest to me - I've got plenty of other ways to stream things through my house.
I can say, I'm thoroughly glad that I didn't go with the Atrix and I'm also impressed with the HTC modding community - there are some incredibly intelligent and fantastic people here to help and share the fun with!
I was on the fence for awhile but decided to take the dive. Do I miss my iPhone 4? Yes. Have I fallen in love with the Inspire and Android's potential? Even more so. The phone is far from being outdated and some of these custom ROM's make my work day and general user experience something I wouldn't trade up for.
Like others have said though, if the front facing camera and the HDMI out are a deal breaker for you - then that's your own opinion/decision. For me, it doesn't matter and it didn't affect my decision.
Cheers and let us know what you decide to do!!

I am considering returning my Atrix 4G and switching to the Inspire 4G and wanted to see if others that I have seen in the same boat are glad they did.
I still cannot utilize the full potential of the Atrix so away it will have to go!
No better place than here to get honest opinions!
Thanks in advance!
I got both the inspire and atrix on their release dates and I'm keeping the inspire. I think the inspire screen looks better and the bigger size is a plus for me.
I'm not typically one to load roms or overclock but those who do on the inspire are seeing major results (up to somewhere in the range of 3500 quadrant scores). I've also seen some report still getting good battery life with overclocking.
I personally prefer the inspire over the atrix. I feel like I had to try and convince myself to like and keep the atrix, when, with the inspire, I loved it from day one. Good luck
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire
I have/had both when they were released and returned the Atrix. It would reboot on its own out of the blue, the screen was too small and not as vibrant as the Inspire. Motoblur lags too much for me and I didn't want an alternate launcher. The widgets on Sense were much more appealing and removed the need for a number of additional apps (calendar, twitter, news reader, etc.)
It's up to you, but I think you'll find the Inspire to be a great device. I'm very happy with it and my decision to return the Atrix.
Thanks, I am leaning in that direction. I felt almost embarrased to say that my modified Captivate's both have a better feel to them than the Atrix. While I do not have any "Real" complaints I just seem to like them better. I will say however that the battery live on the Atrix is very good compared to the Captivates. How has it been on the Inspire's? I have no problem charging occasionally during the course of the day if need be but I dont want to have to every 4 or 5 hours.........
Thanks again all......
The atrix was nothing but a complete let down. The screen was horrible, the OS was brutal, and the UI was clunky. The docks were merely a gimmick as you could really hardly do anything with them.
Inspire has been nothing but PERFECT for me. Way better battery life than the Atrix also. Plus you can mod it and it scores higher than the atrix on benchmarks
I am in the same boat.. I have both phones sitting in front of me and I like the size of the Atrix but there seem to be too many small issues that make it a poor user experience. The issues with the Atrix I have seen are -
1. MLB app just won't stream audio at all
2. Skype audio doesn't function
3. Poor audio quality on phone calls. Callers said I sounded low and or muffeled.
When popping the same SIM card into the Inspire I do not have any of these issues at all. The interface is snappy and quick which is refreshing when compared to the Atrix. The fact that I can put custom ROM's on the Inspire if I wanted to is also a bonus.
I was going to exchange the Atrix to see if the voice quality issues would be better with a different device but I am now thinking that it will just be returned.
The Inspire has been quite a pleasant surprise.

want something to decide for you? Open up anything with the real color yellow. Compare what yellow on the atrix looks like to the inspire. The screen on the inspire is 100 fold better than the atrix. Atrix cant produce the color yellow!!!! Thats pathetic.
I just returned my atrix today for inspire
I truly thank you guys for this imput.
I was so "On the fence" about weather to return it or just live with it and keep hoping the the Dev's would crack the bootloader, or I should say "until they do" as I do not have any doubts that eventually they will. When that happens I do think the Atrix will be a superb product. Until then, Back to ATT it will go!
Have fun all, I will be back in a couple of days to start to learn how to Root & Rom on the Inspire as I am sure it is an entirely different process than the Captivates......
I also returned my Atrix to get the Inspire. I found that the larger screen and overall build quality of the Inspire is what led to my decision. As stated above with the roms cooked up here by our awsome devs the Inspire can out perform the Atrix in its current state.
Me too returned Atrix for Inspire. I didn't like small fonts & the horrible screen. Also had issues with call quality & battery. I have none of those issues with Inspire, loving the sense UI! Battery easily lasts 15+ hrs, amazing with a 1230mAH battery!!
i went from the Inspire to the Atrix. Atrix is a better all round device for me. I think the screen is great, battery life SO MUCH BETTER that the Inspire (could be where I use it) and speed is fantastic. Also call quality (speaker and ear) are much better on Atrix (comparable to my Captivate), and i dont have any issues playing video. Finally camera is WAY BETTER on Atrix, as is the flash and the video. Oh and lets not forget HDMI out. Its also lighter than the Inspire.
I do miss Sense, though.
DOnt get me wrong, I liked the Inspire, and had it come out 6 months earlier I would have been delighted. But it felt like last years technology (was like using my HD2). And that awful battery.
Is there an automated Root for the Inspire such as the one for the Captivate and now for the Atrix? Jumping the gun as I dont even have the device but I am anxios to flash!

I'm dealing with the same issue. I think I'm going with the Inspire though, mainly because of the hackability. I actually like the size of the Atrix better, never had a problem with the screen (yellows look fine). In fact, I prefer the Atrix screen to the Inspire. But, the ability to hack the device will make the decision for me. If and when they crack the bootloader, I'll probably go pick up an Atrix.

Not from what I've read.
I actually just switched out my atrix for the inspire today. Like a few other people said I felt like I had to force myself to want to keep the atrix, I honestly think it's a really good phone but it just wouldn't do what I needed it to do. Although it was from motorola so I knew what I was getting into but I thought that hardware would win me over but it didn't, so far I'm very happy with my Inspire, although it is a little large but that's not really a negative for me.
If there is a section with definitions of the new terminology I would truly appreciate being pointed in the correct direction so I can read up before I root and flash. I have learned the terminology for working with the captivate and now it seems I am a 100% NOOB again!
I just picked up the Inspire and want to get off on the right path. I have read but am not clear on some of these things.
What is a Gold Card?
What is Flashing Radio
One Click to Root?
Safely get back to Stock if I mess up?
Good rom that is reliable to start out?
Advise is always appreciated and welcome!

i wouldnt count on the atrix bootloader being cracked. am i mistaken, or has the droid x never truly been cracked open to load full on custom ROMs? it was my understanding that the moto bootloader was never truly unlocked.
Just Curious, anyone planning on upgrading to the Galaxy S II when it becomes available?
(Also, is a rooted / custom ROM phone also unlocked?)
Nick
IIRC, the Samsung Galaxy S II has an unlocked bootloader, so yes, developers will probably start writing custom ROMs for it.
For me, I'm going to keep this phone until my 2-year contract is up. Even if I had a chance to upgrade to Galaxy S II for free, I wouldn't, because I personally don't like Samsung phones.
I don't understand these questions...This phone just came out what in Feb? Most peeps are in a 2 year contract. I know I am....
I know there are some who buy out of contract but really why ask here and not in the forum for the phone you are in question of?
Most people are going to answer you with a no.
i plan to get the HTC Holiday off-contract but only if it has an unlocked bootloader

Yeah, I'm curious if people will want to switch enough to sell their current phones and buy unlocked. I'm not sure if these things sell well on ebay, but that's what I've done in the past when new iPhones came out.
My Inspire Its New, its in the market over 11 Feb, we don't need to change the phone yet.
Enjoy your Machine
HELL to the NO!
Samsung products are banned from my house.
I'm eligible for a new phone in January, I'll probably stick with HTC.
For "old tech" the Inspire is a kick ass device. Stable as all get out with lots of dev activity. Lots to love about it.
Wow... someone's so pretty rich here. Good for u.
I plan to keep this phone atleast till March next year, when I'll be due for upgrade.

Yeah, I have to say, I've installed CM7 (stable), and I am SUPER impressed with how fast this thing is now.
I was just curious, I see that you all love this phone very much. Makes me happy with my choice. (My wife shattered her phone, and I picked this one up same day, not my usual month long research)
So, as a former iPhone 4 users, if you could give me one android tip or suggestion, what would it be?

Stay away from task killers that kill tasks at regular intervals. U could use them to kill a stray app though.
I would recommend reading the thread "android memory management" (permanent link in my signature) to learn how android memory management works.

I will preface this by saying while I make really good money( and work damned hard for it) I am not rich.
I have 2 inspires, one off contract and one on, and you can bet your sweet ass I will be getting the gs2. That is provided it lives up the hype and has proper dev support, which I imagine it will. I understand that in the inspire forum your gonna have a hard time finding anyone saying its not the best phone ever for all time, but I am not the typical owner. I dont have a "pride of ownership" complex. While I lOVE this phone, its far from perfect. The battery is a joke, the bluetooth radio is really weak, the cellular radio has a hard time, and the bottom/side covers fit poorly. Not my opinion, just what it is. The only thing that may be a bit subjective is the cellular radio signal. Buttttt I have tested 5 brand new inspires against a captivate, aria, iphone, and a dumbphone and it always has the weakest signal (in db's not F'in bars). I have flashed every radio/ril known to man, and while it will fluctuate a bit from one to another, as an average its mostly the same. I am talking strictly in signal strength (both edge/hspa) no stupid bars or speedtest.net results. I also tested the bluetooth on 3 inspires myself and had a friend test 2 and all did the same thing. It will start to break up bad if you cover the antenna(side cover) with your hand or move away from the source. This again is something I dont experience with my other plethora of phones. I tested it with 2 headsets and 2 different aftermarket headunits(car stereo). As for the battery, well come on do I really have to explain myself there. While I have gotten to get my phone to last most of the day, its still sub par.
Now dont get me wrong I absolutely love this phone, if not why would I buy 2, one off contract. Its fast, beautiful, made of quality materials, has an awesome screen, and best of all has AMAZING dev support. I only explain my issue cause I know Im gonna get flamed. I am just one of those guys that doesn't think that its the best because I own it. When we own stuff we tend to overlook issues and focus on the positives, which is fine provided it doesn't cloud your judgement. I love and have owned mustangs and camaros. I have also owned and loved yamaha's,honda's,kawasaki's,suzuki bikes. I love toys/gadgets of every maker and flavor. Hell I own an svt lightning but still dig the srt-10 and the cheby ss. And yes I have a drawer full of smartphones from htc, palm, samsung, and yes even the rotten apple.

I love my g2x, ordered it minutes after it was available online. It works great never had any issues with it.

I like my G2x as well (love is way too strong a word here) but I would like it even more if the FFC were of any use, if the A2DP worked, and if the promise of vanilla Android leading quick updates had been kept.

the g2x is fine but i was watching the stock market and saw a lot of double purchases g2x stock and ky. so that is a little worrisome. im not buying any used g2x's.
Masters of redundancy here. How many times do people feel entitled to review a device? Or is this a cheap attempt to keep things alive in the G2x forum by prevoking argumentation since that is all these sort of threads ever amount to? From someone that makes it quite clear they are a frequent visitor of the g2x forums making yet another one of these threads instead of contributing to the plethora of similar ones screams "I want attention."
And since some are going to cry 'troll,' I'll say my piece: this phone is powerful but needs a "Some assembly required" sticker on the box. Other than that I stuck with this device thru my woes for a reason & I see nothing comparable to it despite its flaws.

Take a look at the popular game downloads, read a few messages, and see how many don't run correctly on the GSII and sensation. I am sure its a wonderful phone and whatnot, but software does not seem to work with great compatibility. Beyond running Tegra games, the Tegra runs all games with better compatibility.
See anyone posting that there favorite games don't work?
G2x is fastest on gaming benchmarks still.
Even i am loving my T-Mobile G2X so much.
In-spite of being purchased an used one off ebay, my phone didn't have any issues.
No reboots, no screen bleeding etc.
Very happy.
Just point me to a place where game discussions are happening around this mobile phone.
Just got my replacement. Haven't had one reboot yet. Battery is about 20 hours on stock gb . Lovin it.

I'm holding out, nexus doesn't impress me against what I already have. Would only gain on dual core. Waiting for a couple coming releases offering good specs with multi-core. HTC is already playing with a quad-core, waiting to see if it will still have a early year release! I like changing phones, but its better to feel like im actually upgrading!
I'm good with my Thunderbolt, have good battery life, clocking @1.6ghz, and has better camera. Not dropping from 8 to 5mp. Thats weak, thats why thunderbolt was reviewed to have the best mobile phone camera. Ha, my front camera takes better pictures than iphones do.

Google Talk Video Chat Issues
I've liked the Thunderbolt pretty well, but since we finally got the ability to use Google Talk for Video Chat, I've been VERY irritated that I can never get it to work over Mobile Data.
Have you experienced this issue? Video Chats should work just fine over a 4g connection, but basically every time I try to initiate or accept a video chat on my Thunderbolt it doesn't connect and says something about a "Network Issue."
I am able to successfully get vid chats working over WiFi... but come on.... this is supposed to be the Flagship 4G device. Video chat needs to work.
Anyone else experiencing the same?
Any suggestions on a fix?
lovin my tbolt still.. hell i remembered reading leaks about it..my morning newspaper was reading up about this phone, love the design and specs....rooted with bamf forever rom, clocked, custom kernel lovin it still.. and eventually we'll get cm9 gonna sit back n wear this phone out until a quadcore or something
Gtalkenabler from market will solve that for you!

I agree my thunderbolt runs nice rooted with custom Rom, updating to rezound battery was all I really needed. Class 10 32gb is only upgrade I need now

The MP argument isn't valid. MP are not everything. I have seen pictures taken on the iPhone 4S and they truly are better looking than my bolt's pics. I'm not even an iPhone fan no would I want an iPhone but saying that your camera on your bolt is better than the iPhone 4S' is just being stubborn.
In terms of the nexus upgrade, a lot of people said the same about our phone when it was released. Hardware wise the TB was going to be (and has been) overshadowed by newer devices. It's all preference. I would love to have a Nexus just because I can finally have an AOSP phone. If you prefer sense that's different.

With CM9 around the corner and almost a completely functional MIUI, why change?
I keep wondering what is wrong with me because I have absolutely no interest in the Gnex at all - its nice to know I'm not the only one! The Gnex seems like the ultimate geek phone so I feel like I should want it, but I'm happy with my Bolt. The fact that I don't have an upgrade until May helps too....

Duely blundered from my thunderdolt
I am sticking with the Thunderbolt as well. One thing that I will really miss when I do change is the kickstand. I didn't think much of it when I first got the phone, but it is really something that I use everyday.

I mean I would prefer an AOSP phone with the support of a nexus device. Getting these upgrades pushed immediately and without major bugs would be great. MIUI is functional but audio wise it's still pretty messed up. No disrespect to the devs, just that the audio output on MIUI seems to be low quality right now.
All in all, like I said it's all preference. the SAMOLED screen is another huge plus for me as well. I like AMOLED so much more than LCD
Yeah, I can qualify for an upgrade through VZW, but I'm not super impressed by the Nexus. I'll have to see how the Droid 4 turns out though (envious of slide-out keyboards). The Nexus still has verizon bloatware -- I'm not sure what else they've managed to stuff in there. Either way, I'm still pretty pleased with the Bolt.
I love my Tbolt. Best phone I've ever had.
I was very excited about the gnexus, even though I don't have an upgrade any time soon! The camera on the gnexus is FAST! I've seen video of it taking pictures every 3 seconds or so, and stock ICS is soooo sexy. However, the gnexus phone will be obsolete in a few weeks (of course thats with any phone)
The Bolt was my first HTC phone (I always had Moto before that) and I don't think I'd ever go away from HTC now. I like the Bolt that much. I did use a corporate upgrade to get a Rezound but ended up giving that to my wife in exchange for her Bolt so now I have an extra one I can try things out on while keeping my Bolt as the daily driver. I'm running BAMF Forever on the DD and InfectedROM's Sense 3.5 build on the experimental (and hopefully at some point an ICS build with working data.) The phone is just a workhorse and with all the dev work on this phone it's the flagship for me.
Definitely Keeping

Totally agree! HTC's put kickstands on other phones; I hope they come up with a true upgrade that still has one (only this time one that flips OPPOSITE the battery charging port...)
Agree with the others in the thread as well that there really isn't a truly better phone out there yet on all dimensions; TBolt is still very relevant.

This...to an extent. In regards to seeing a difference between 5MP and 8MP, really the only time that you'll truly notice a difference is if you are blowing up the picture in larger format (8.5x11.5 +), but first you have to take into consideration that most people use their cellphone cameras for:
A) taking/uploading photos/videos to social networking sites (e.g. facebook et al - which already compresses the hell out of the photos anyways)
B) for prints (if even) 5x7 and lower which you will not notice the difference.
Now with it being a cellphone camera of course the pictures aren't going to look as good as a camera with a lot better sensor (or even one at all). The reason why Samsung went with a 5MP camera instead of the more standard 8MP is that the 5MP camera has a better aperture which gives you an almost instant photo instead of waiting forever for it to focus and gather all the light information in order to take the photo.

You know they make cases that have kickstands built onto them for phones without them, right?
Yep going to be rocking my bolt for almost another year
I've played with various dual core phones and I see no real speed improvement over the 1.4ghz thunderbolt, and the nexus camera downgrade makes me somewhat uninterested in that phone, as much as I like nexus phones, I still like to have an sd card, it's a major downside to me. Unless it breaks, I'll be rocking this phone till november of this year, when I have an upgrade available, I'll wait for a quad-core phone with an LTE chip that is significantly better off battery wise.
I'm happy with my Thunderbolt for now. I got lucky and got it as a mid-contract upgrade on Craigslist - brand new for $200 and I'd only had my Incredible for a year. The build quality is the best part, in my mind. It feels indestructible.
I use TANGO for video chatting.. works flawlessly for me.. 3G-4G-Wifi. Plus its cross platform so you can video chat with your lame iphone friends. Free download from the app store.. check it out.
Ten things I love about the thunderbolt:
1.kickstand, wanted it ever since my brother got his EVO 4g
2.the dev work for the phone is amazing, over 50 diff ROMs.
3.the speed and overclockability
4.Looks and performs sleekly
5.A front facing camera
6.almost no problems with it (that's just me)
7. I get 23 hours of battery life now with kernels
8.meallic finish (hated the evos plastic)
9. TRUE 4G (not that crap Sprint is trying to sell)
10. Does everything I want

Hi the title says it all I'm thinking of trading my One S in for a Galaxy S 3 I just want to hear peoples opinions and thoughts on this matter
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Specs wise they're both beasts. Enough so that it doesn't matter which one wins which benchmarks.
The most important difference is the size/feel in your hand. If the SGS3 feels good to you, then sure, go ahead.
Personally I find it too large and too plasticky. And of course anyone whose taste and opinion are different than mine is a moron.
If you want bigger and sharper screen, more storage, better/larger developing community, better support from Samsung for updates, removable battery, better 1080P recording then yes, if you're aren't bothered by those areas then no.
Although I wouldn't buy anything now, when we have the LG nexus 4 and supposedly a HTC nexus 5 (specs may be the same as the HTC butterfly), which will be announced on the 29th October.
Out of the current phones, which are on the market, I would get the one XL and RAZR HD instead of the GS 3.
Well I like the idea of extra storage space and more dev support, the fact you don't need to unlock the bootloader is a plus for me
I did go down town today and held a GS3 and it felt comfortable in the hand the size wasn't really an issue so I guess that's the decider

If I had the offer to trade my HTC One S for a Galaxy S 3 I would do it in a heartbeat lol. I still haven't even opened my One S mainly from all the bad news I read about it here.
I came from the s3 to the one s. Don't miss it. Removable battery and more storage were the only plus Imo. I like the one s feel and build a lot better. I had to run an extended battery on my s3 because there's mysterious battery drain on every rom. My buddy has a Verizon s3 and even with lte his oem battery would last twice as long as mine. It's all about personal preference and if you want a bigger phone and more storage the s3 would be good. Performance wise the phones are pretty equal.

What bad news?
The chipping?
My black one S is still in perfect condition apart from the USB port area, had it since April.
The signal?
Never had an issue with it, signal has never been as consistent as what I would have liked, but since the last update, it is more consistent and mostly full bars instead of 3 bars and the voice reception has dramatically improved when I have H/3G data connection.
Touch button issue?
Never had that.
Only thing I am disappointed with is the support from HTC for updates, but then again there isn't much else they can improve apart from improving wifi and mobile reception even further and plus the support for the X isn't any better. The NLED sucks compared to the GS 3 NLED.
Remember just because people report problems, doesn't mean that it will apply to everyone, hardly anyone will ever come onto a forum to post the positive things, only if they have a problem, plus unfortunately there seems to be a lot of one S haters on this forum.

You're letting the warranty go down without even using it. It would be better to find about the problem now when you still have your warranty instead of opening it two years later, finding a problem, and having to cover all the costs instead (i'm not implying it has a problem, but it could do)

All of those haters will be gone once this phone get a little old, then the good people will stay and others will leave, and then this phone will get some good attention.
I plan on keeping this phone for a while, 2, 3 or 4 years.
Thanks Guy's very helpful info. I guess I was disappointed in the hboot issues and seeing how many are having issues after updating up to 1.14 and all. I'm used to flashing freely with my old nexus S and my new GNex and everything i read in here has been very disappointing. I just worried I made a big mistake since i got one of these for everyone in my family lol. Thanks again, I been thinking about saying the heck with it and keeping it, i just can't see the point in having 2 phones. It really is a wonderful phone for normal users. It doesn't seem to need root except for getting rid of the bloat, using root required apps, volume wake and theming. Thanks again guy's made me feel better lol.

Yeah I hope so!
Likewise, although not as long. I find 4.3" too small now and want bigger! Love the note II screen, but the device is just too big to carry in my pockets and comfortably use with one hand. Plus, I personally can't see HTC supporting this phone for long as it isn't very popular and they have released a ton of other android phones and will be releasing even more in the next few months, meaning the S will get even less attention. Hope to get 4.2, but I have a funny feeling we won't or if they do, it will take forever......
Root and flash ROMs is an option. I had a read through the guides last night, after reading that we won't get JB till December (although I probably won't see JB on my phone till January) but I really cba with doing that again and flashing a new ROM every other week and then encountering annoying niggles.
So yeah, I will see what the LG nexus 4 is like and possibly other nexus devices largely due to updates/support and bigger screen. Although I do prefer sense overall compared to stock android, but I want a phone, which has good support.
Unfortunately the build quality and looks won't be anywhere as good as the S
The RAZR HD looks like a great option as well:

If your entire family have one, then surely you know what to expect
BTW you can disable most of the bloat by going to settings>apps>click on app you want disabled and then click "disable" in the top right corner. Although you can't disable some stock sense apps like the launcher, browser, maps etc.
