I am considering returning my Atrix 4G and switching to the Inspire 4G and wanted to see if others that I have seen in the same boat are glad they did.
I still cannot utilize the full potential of the Atrix so away it will have to go!
No better place than here to get honest opinions!
Thanks in advance!
I got both the inspire and atrix on their release dates and I'm keeping the inspire. I think the inspire screen looks better and the bigger size is a plus for me.
I'm not typically one to load roms or overclock but those who do on the inspire are seeing major results (up to somewhere in the range of 3500 quadrant scores). I've also seen some report still getting good battery life with overclocking.
I personally prefer the inspire over the atrix. I feel like I had to try and convince myself to like and keep the atrix, when, with the inspire, I loved it from day one. Good luck
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire
I have/had both when they were released and returned the Atrix. It would reboot on its own out of the blue, the screen was too small and not as vibrant as the Inspire. Motoblur lags too much for me and I didn't want an alternate launcher. The widgets on Sense were much more appealing and removed the need for a number of additional apps (calendar, twitter, news reader, etc.)
It's up to you, but I think you'll find the Inspire to be a great device. I'm very happy with it and my decision to return the Atrix.
Thanks, I am leaning in that direction. I felt almost embarrased to say that my modified Captivate's both have a better feel to them than the Atrix. While I do not have any "Real" complaints I just seem to like them better. I will say however that the battery live on the Atrix is very good compared to the Captivates. How has it been on the Inspire's? I have no problem charging occasionally during the course of the day if need be but I dont want to have to every 4 or 5 hours.........
Thanks again all......
The atrix was nothing but a complete let down. The screen was horrible, the OS was brutal, and the UI was clunky. The docks were merely a gimmick as you could really hardly do anything with them.
Inspire has been nothing but PERFECT for me. Way better battery life than the Atrix also. Plus you can mod it and it scores higher than the atrix on benchmarks
I am in the same boat.. I have both phones sitting in front of me and I like the size of the Atrix but there seem to be too many small issues that make it a poor user experience. The issues with the Atrix I have seen are -
1. MLB app just won't stream audio at all
2. Skype audio doesn't function
3. Poor audio quality on phone calls. Callers said I sounded low and or muffeled.
When popping the same SIM card into the Inspire I do not have any of these issues at all. The interface is snappy and quick which is refreshing when compared to the Atrix. The fact that I can put custom ROM's on the Inspire if I wanted to is also a bonus.
I was going to exchange the Atrix to see if the voice quality issues would be better with a different device but I am now thinking that it will just be returned.
The Inspire has been quite a pleasant surprise.

want something to decide for you? Open up anything with the real color yellow. Compare what yellow on the atrix looks like to the inspire. The screen on the inspire is 100 fold better than the atrix. Atrix cant produce the color yellow!!!! Thats pathetic.
I just returned my atrix today for inspire
I truly thank you guys for this imput.
I was so "On the fence" about weather to return it or just live with it and keep hoping the the Dev's would crack the bootloader, or I should say "until they do" as I do not have any doubts that eventually they will. When that happens I do think the Atrix will be a superb product. Until then, Back to ATT it will go!
Have fun all, I will be back in a couple of days to start to learn how to Root & Rom on the Inspire as I am sure it is an entirely different process than the Captivates......
I also returned my Atrix to get the Inspire. I found that the larger screen and overall build quality of the Inspire is what led to my decision. As stated above with the roms cooked up here by our awsome devs the Inspire can out perform the Atrix in its current state.
Me too returned Atrix for Inspire. I didn't like small fonts & the horrible screen. Also had issues with call quality & battery. I have none of those issues with Inspire, loving the sense UI! Battery easily lasts 15+ hrs, amazing with a 1230mAH battery!!
i went from the Inspire to the Atrix. Atrix is a better all round device for me. I think the screen is great, battery life SO MUCH BETTER that the Inspire (could be where I use it) and speed is fantastic. Also call quality (speaker and ear) are much better on Atrix (comparable to my Captivate), and i dont have any issues playing video. Finally camera is WAY BETTER on Atrix, as is the flash and the video. Oh and lets not forget HDMI out. Its also lighter than the Inspire.
I do miss Sense, though.
DOnt get me wrong, I liked the Inspire, and had it come out 6 months earlier I would have been delighted. But it felt like last years technology (was like using my HD2). And that awful battery.
Is there an automated Root for the Inspire such as the one for the Captivate and now for the Atrix? Jumping the gun as I dont even have the device but I am anxios to flash!

I'm dealing with the same issue. I think I'm going with the Inspire though, mainly because of the hackability. I actually like the size of the Atrix better, never had a problem with the screen (yellows look fine). In fact, I prefer the Atrix screen to the Inspire. But, the ability to hack the device will make the decision for me. If and when they crack the bootloader, I'll probably go pick up an Atrix.

Not from what I've read.
I actually just switched out my atrix for the inspire today. Like a few other people said I felt like I had to force myself to want to keep the atrix, I honestly think it's a really good phone but it just wouldn't do what I needed it to do. Although it was from motorola so I knew what I was getting into but I thought that hardware would win me over but it didn't, so far I'm very happy with my Inspire, although it is a little large but that's not really a negative for me.
If there is a section with definitions of the new terminology I would truly appreciate being pointed in the correct direction so I can read up before I root and flash. I have learned the terminology for working with the captivate and now it seems I am a 100% NOOB again!
I just picked up the Inspire and want to get off on the right path. I have read but am not clear on some of these things.
What is a Gold Card?
What is Flashing Radio
One Click to Root?
Safely get back to Stock if I mess up?
Good rom that is reliable to start out?
Advise is always appreciated and welcome!

i wouldnt count on the atrix bootloader being cracked. am i mistaken, or has the droid x never truly been cracked open to load full on custom ROMs? it was my understanding that the moto bootloader was never truly unlocked.

I just switched back to ATT from Sprint (Evo 4g) and bought the Inspire with the intent of returning it next month when the Atrix comes out.
I seem to, however, really like the Inspire and am wondering if the Atrix is really worth the additional $100. Besides the higher res (yet smaller) screen, why would I change to the Atrix? Sure it has a dual core Tegra2, but Froyo doesn't even use 2 cores so what am I getting?
I know that the Atrix has a locked bootloader but that isn't a huge dealbreaker for me.
Thoughts?

Honestly I can't say I'm a fan of pentile screens like the Atrix has. Not to mention I read somewhere(cannot verify accuracy)that the Dalvik VM system on Froyo at the very least does not support multithreading so a dual core won't make any difference yet.
Plus, I have had bad experiences with Moto. I'm pretty happy with HTC so far.
Apps built with the NDK can take advantage of the dual core processor. The processor, resolution, ffc, hdmi, and 1080p recording all sound great, but software is more important to me. The Captivate tought me that. Great hardware doesn't mean crap if the software sucks. Sense is a lot better than Motoblur and the locked bootloader downright sucks. HTC is also slightly better about updating their software. Oh, and the dock and laptop are a complete ripoff.

I really Like HTC to. Don't really care about Sense since I use Launcher Pro. I guess its a matter of wait and see.

I just did the exact same thing, still waiting for the inspire to arrive though. I came from the Evo and I love HTC products, I think I'll keep it afterall and wait for the next HTC flagship phone.
The Atrix is more future proof than the Inspire with dual core and a gig of ram. Froyo may not take full advantage of dual core, but how about future builds? Gaming will certainly be smoother and with that huge battery I should be able to get through a day of heavy usage. I can't seem to do that with my Inspire unless I turn off most of the things I like about the phone. It's a tough choice, but blur doesn't bother me so I may make the jump.

Quoted for troof. HTC is the manufacturer who seems to get it right.
It looks like the difference that the inspire has a .3 inch bigger/lower resolution screen screen, 8GB less memory, higher MP camera (8MP), has digital compass, has HTC sence (maybe better than momto blur?), has fm radio.
I guess it just depends on what features are important to you. My only real question is about the insire's FM radio. Is it actually functioning out of the box or did att disable it?
Go over to the development threads and check out all of the Roms for the Inspire. Then immediately leave because the Atrix will never have that good of a development community. Crippled software on overpowered hardware will never be as good as quality/variety of software on perfectly capable hardware. Dual core isn't standard yet and the benefits of it have yet to be implemented effectively. When we're running custom roms of the next Android update with an optimized kernel, the Atrix will be stuck waiting for an official update with nothing more than a glorified theme.

I just exchanged my Atrix for an Inspire yesterday.
After rooting and unlocking, adding CM7 and the 1.8Ghz kernel, I can say with 100% confidence that I made the right choice switching.
Although the screen on the Inspire is lower resolution, it looks amazing, much more so than that of the Atrix.
I think everyone over there in the Atrix forum is coming to the conclusion that their phones will probably never see an unlocked bootloader, and are jumping ship because of it.

^This.....I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so. I think the Atrix display looks horrible. I continually ponder how more people don't make mention of it. I came from a Captivate (which I still have) and the Inspire before I tried the Atrix and its quality leaves A LOT to be desired.
I still have both devices. And I had decided to return the atrix once or twice but cannot pull the trigger because of the hardware. Everything else, is better on the inspire. I feel like I have to force myself to like the Atrix. I've given it a try (a day's run) and each time I went back to the inspire. Hm, I'll see how it plays out.

I am extremely confident with my decision to get the inspire. I love the screen and man this thing is fast. Even though the atrix has better specs I really think that the inspire, once rooted and oc'ed is way faster. I pop in to the atrix forums once in a while and it just solidifies my confidence that I got the right phone. Everyone over there is complaining about one thing or another, which wouldnt be that big of deal because Android is so customizable, but that isnt the case with MOTO because of the locked bootloader. Also who really wants to have to wait for official updates? Especially from companies like MOTO and Samsung. I am happy.

Depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for a phone that under-performs but looks great on a stat sheet - Atrix is for you. I had nothing but hate for that phone after just 3 days of using it. Its sluggish, the UI is clunky, animations were horribly slow.
Inspire has a far better screen believe it or not. It has no pixelation that I can even see (atrix had a ton) and the colors are far far far more accurate. The atrix couldnt even do the color yellow.
Atrix - 2/10 stars
Inspire - 9/10
So far on the att website users averaged give both phones 4 out of 5. I have weighed the pros and cons after playing with both of them for about an hour and believe I will go with the inspire for its 4.3 inch screen, faster and more accurate acquisition of GPS during my tests, 8MP camera, FM radio and good old HTC hardware.
I did notice an issue with the inspire that I was playing with where the pull down screen that shows running or recently launched programs was slow to drag left and right. Anyone else notice this?

You might want to take the custom Rom route anyways to maximize the performance and features of the phone.

had atrix for 3 days and for all 3 days tried to full my self i like the phone... nope didnt work. second day into.. dead pixels exchanged to find screen off to the left and actually twisted another one and the same problem, overall the qhd screen is horrible just go ahead and search something in google and look at the smaller text you'll see the pixels are missing . motorola screwed this one completely ; the phone really feels like was put together in some tiny village in 3th world country. side by side inspire feels smoother faster ( ain't no joke) and with iphone build quality.the last feature got my girlfriends attention and trust me she's one of this iphone4 owners that no matter what point you'll make that makes android shine vs iphone she'll tell ya i don't care. and i dont care if the atrix is better with games , pointless feature if u ask me... ill stick with my ps3 for real gaming experience. would be nice to have hdmi out and louder speaker otherwise thats pretty much what's missing. inspire much better phone.
Hey Guys......
I had the HTC EVO...great phone but had issues with Sprint and the sheer bulk of the phone and no 4G in my area after a year of promises. I just got the Atrix on Monday. It is great and fast and all that stuff BUT.....
I am missing the larger screen from the EVO...The Inspire is .3 larger but I think the resolution is smaller on the Atrix.
i love the fact that there are already custom ROMs for the Inspire!
I don't know if there will ever be custom ROMS for the Atrix as the boot loader is locked/encrypted on the Atrix(thanks Motorola).
So am truly undecided at this point. i will go to the AT&T store today and checkout the Inspire. So many great phones out there right now! Does everyone get the 4G speeds from AT&T?
I was contemplating doing the opposite (from Inspire to Atrix) but only until I got to play with one. I really dislike that phone. It reeks of cheap build that reminded me of Captivate. I don't like how pervasive Blur is and I thought that Atrix screen was sub-par. There is no way I'd trade Inspire for Atrix.

Ditto, plus CM7 for Inspire already exists!
If you liked HTC and are familiar with the device interface, like the bigger display, and like loading custom roms then I think you know which way to go
Inspire is a great phone. I've used an Atrix and I'm back using my inspire. The screen on the atrix left a lot to be desired. Idk if I got a bad unit or not, but the screen doesn't have the best responsiveness (when moving quickly through a task or throughout the phone, it misses registered touches). However, everyone else I've seen said theirs was great so I could be exchanging. But imo, the inspire is still the better of the two. Motoblur is persistent throughout the atrix :/
The more I read about it, the more a "dud" product the Atrix seems to be. Folks are calling the Inspire a "sidegrade" from the "flagship" Captivate, but I disagree with that and think it's an upgrade.
Atrix screen seemed small and cramped compared to the Inspire screen. The .3" makes a big diff.
setting the brightness higher made the Atrix screen look good, but there are not enough reasons to go with the Atrix. If it was a LTE device, maybe, but it ain't.
I also had a Evo and im used to the 4.3 screen size. Can't go smaller.

I like my EVO but it is big an bulky and the battery life sucks....
the Atrix so far last about 26 hours from my last charge and it still has 40% battery life left. But it also has the smaller resolution screen that seems so much smaller than my EVO.
I will get to the AT&T store today and see if the Inspire is that much different than the EVO as far as bulk and battery life.

I'm sure it will be just as bulky as the EVO. Battery life is definitely better than the EVO despite the smaller battery, but not as good as the Atrix I would guess.

Inspire 4G / Desire HD
Depending on the country
Both are good phones. If you like to tinker with your device and load actual custom roms / kernels then there is only one choice.
Hey guys. I know I'm posting this in here so I assume bias answers will come aboutt but I'm switching to att and I cannot decide between the two. What do you think? I know the atrix isn't very rootable or romable but has amazing specs. But the inspire is, and is a beautiful device. What are your opinions? How easy is the inspire to root?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Depends on if you prefer the allure of a dual core processor over end user customization and superior build quality.
Rooting the Inspire is very easy if you can follow the instructions exactly as they are written.
Have both myself and the atrix is going back. Everyone has their preference for what they want in a phone and I really wanted to like the atrix but I don't see the benefit at this time of dual core when it comes at the expense of customizing. I am somewhat biased toward sense as well even though I don't always use sense roms, it is nice to have the option. The inspire is a great phone and I know I won't get bored given the variety of roms that are, or will be available.
Battery seems to be a topic that comes up but honestly I have been getting great results with the inspire. 13 hours off charger today and dropped to 68%. Light day for me, only an hour of display time and few minutes of calls but everything left to sync every hour. One major thing I have noticed is that even if you do find you need to recharge, the inspire charges quickly, even using computer usb, while the atrix takes a lot longer and is painfully slow if you are not using a regular outlet to charge.
Been covered before, but the inspire really is the better device. MOTO kinda screwed the atrix up with software.

100% agree. I returned my Atrix for the Inspire, and I'm glad I did. Inspire has a much more polished and functional user interface.
New root tools now available here should make rooting easy.
As said before it depends on what you want.
Phone with awesome specs or Phone with awesome dev support and a great UI
Both phones are awesome in their own right, but for me its all about having control of my phone and being able to do what I like to it.
In all honesty I'd wait for a dual core phone till HTC makes one. This is my first HTC coming from a blackberry bold. I don't think I'll ever not go with HTC again...
edit: Baaa I sound like a fanboy.....
okay, i appreicate your help guys. i guess now im just trying to figure out when i get the phone, how to root. ive been looking at this for simple s off and root(which is all i want for ROMing and using OC kernels). has anyone had luck with this, and or was it rather easy?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406
I just used the hack kit to root. Not hard if you just follow the instructions and only takes 45 minutes after you get all the files downloaded.
Just returned my Atrix back to Radioshack and got the Inspire!! Just as everyone said here, if you want something good on paper but with no real use, then the Atrix is for you, but if you want a proven phone with an unlocked bootloader for ROMS etc... then this is the the right choice...
Although I lost my front facing camera, i figured I rarely used it anyways, so no biggie for me. I also didn't like the smaller icons on the Atrix. Even though it has less RAM and i less core, it still performs pretty dang fast..
Quadrant scores with a good amount of apps. without OC or anything stock is still hitting: 1807
Color looks much better too on this screen..... glad I switched to this phone instead. I am sure I will get a better dual or quad core in the next year but until then this will do....
Bye Motorola...except for the Xoom..that looks like a good choice though.
Your asking this in the inspire forms, of course everyone will say the inspire is better. If you asked this in the atrix forums you'd get the opposite response I've had both and returned the inspire. It isn't a bad phone but it has horrid battery life and no internal sd storage. It has great roms and OCs like a monster but OC and bad battery life just compound the problem. I can see why people would choose one or the other, it really just depends on what you're looking for.
I'm not sure if this is true or not, but a guy on Reddit said he was talking with a Motorola Representative and the Rep. told him that the Atrix doesn't use both cores at the same time. One is for the phone and the other is just for the laptop dock. Maybe someone else has more info on this.
Wow, another reason Im happy I stuck to my guns and got this phone.

I actually have both phones. I love both of them for different reasons.
Atrix - Works well once you change launchers. Fast and smooth. I actually like the smaller icons and all. But I use this phone mostly as a personal backup phone. But it works well and is crystal clear with a strong signal. MUCh MUCH better than my old cappy.
Inspire - My work phone, thank GOD I work from home and can have it plugged in most of the time. When I travel I have to have the Atrix just in case I cant get juice on the road. But, the inspire is awsome, not as fast but "good enough" for me. Love the size and color of it and the sense ui just works for me. I can tell which pocket has what phone based on bulk and weight. Very nice quality phone. Plus, I had a cappy, and we all know what we did almost every day. Loaded custom roms, played and even bricked a few but its so addicting.
If I had to go purchase one today, knowing what I know, Inspire would be my first choice, Again I own both and love both but first choice for the pure fun and joy it would give me the INSPIRE wins hands down.
Got my inspire today. Mixed feelings so far. Have to admit i kind of miss my captivate a little.
I think the inspire screen size is perfect. But i miss the superamoled. I don't know if its just me but my screen has horrible viewing angles and also seems to have too much of a grey color to it.
If samsung brings out the infuse soon i might give it a shot. This being my first htc maybe i should give it more time. Might return it for another one to see how the screen looks.
As far as the atrix goes, they couldn't pay me to use that phone. Played with one a little today, it's more hype than anything imo.
I like the form of the inspire, it feels solid, not iphone4 solid but very close. I hope rooting and everything gets easier.
Someone smarter than Me should start selling goldcards for this phone. Id be 1st in line for one.

I had both phones - inspire is the best phone I have ever had. It made the atrix look like a toy. iPhone 4 has a better camera, but thats about it.
Inspire all the way. Galaxy S 2 is looking good though, if it ever comes out.
Edit: How can anyone with an Atrix and Inspire say the inspire is slower? The atrix is the definition of a neutered turtle. That thing is clunky and useless.

I'm also a psu fan. I hope that they let Joe stay on the sideline forever. Hell he should be buried there.
Back on topic, my opinion if the atrix is that it is basically a moto iphone that is not as good as the 4 but somewhere inbetween a 3 gs and the iphone 4.
As far as the inspire goes, it needs a better screen in my opinion but maybe i just got a bad one. I'm taking it back today to try another one and if its the same then i may just wait for the infuse to come out.
If you look in the atrix forum it appears that the majority are giving up on it already.
Dg got rid of his and i think but don't quote me in this, he said he doesn't think the locked will ever be broken in to which leads me back to my iphone reference. Same thing, you can root (jailbreak) it but not much else.

Did dg really get rid of his Atrix, did he post about it some where? Only reason I ask is cause I was planning on trying the atrix in my thirty day period bit if he left I'm not even gonna try. He doesn't give up that easy so if he have up looks bad lol

Why would you Inspire people recommended the Inspire over the Atrix?
I'm kinda curious. I have seen the 1.8Ghz OC kernel, and Cyanogenmod 7 on the forums but haven't been able to find a video or anything. Can anyone compare this to the experience of a stock Atrix? I want to believe that a Inspire w/ CM7 @ 1.8Ghz would be scorchingly fast.
I'm sure the Atrix battery lasts nearly 2X the inspire overclocked like that, but I don't mind carrying around a 2nd battery for a phone. I always had 2 with my OG Droid
the fact that it doesn't have blurr should be the main reason. Alone the inspire is such a mod-able phone its not even funny. Performance wise from playing with a friends atrix and mine (not o.c.). Mine still ran smoother.
Its all about what the person wants. Specs or customization.
Not over clocked I get a good day day half of heavy use.
There have been a few devs who left the atrix for the inspire, the inspire has bigger dev community. As far as 1.8 goes, I don't think thats realistic for everyday performance. 1.5 is the performance sweet spot for most.

I had an inspire, got rid of it BC I was a noob with android and the battery wasn't working out. Bought an atrix, and was disgusted after about a week to the point that I didn't care if the battery OJ the inspire was small - I just wanted it back. Sold my atrix, bought a new inspire and never looked back. The phone is seriously just 100 better. L
The kicker is that with certain custom roms, cm7 being the best, the battery life is equal to that of the atrix.

yeah i bought the Galaxy S because of the "specs" Let's just say i learned my lesson on that... For me it's all about the Dev Support, and as you can see the Inspire 4G has LOTS!!!
On a side note.. I actually checked which phone was supported by CyanogenMod before purchasing..
I believe that HTC is the way Android is meant to be..

$199 - Atrix
- 79 - Inspire4G
-------------
$129 Difference.
That's (2) weeks worth of Gasoline! That's what made up mind in a heartbeat!
Inspire vs Atrix
A stock Inspire runs very smoothly and very quickly. The Atrix is very fast because of the dual core processor, but that's pretty much it. Motoblur slows the phone down quite a bit and while it does seem to maintain it's responsiveness despite some lag, as I said it's still pretty laggy. HTC Sense isn't just an overlay on top of Froyo, it actually seems to enhance the experience of using an Android phone because everything seems to run so much smoother. Gaming on the Inspire isnt as good as it is on the Atrix because it's not dual core, but games for the most part run very smoothly (I've played quake 3 on mine with no issues). But yea, if you're just looking for speed, the Inspire is more than capable. It's already very fast underclocked, but its very fast overclocked as well.
This vid may help u decide if u should keep the Atrix or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmFKACFIu1s
Atrix disappoints
I work at a Best Buy and a lot of people bought the Atrix on release day at my store. I, however, wanted to wait and see, plus being a huge HTC fan the Inspire was really desirable (pun intended). So yeah I got an Inspire while one of my co-workers in the Geek Squad has an Atrix, and we go back and forth. "My resolution is higher!" he says, "My screen is more vibrant and larger" I say... Then his phone lags and doesn't scroll smoothly and I laugh. Speed test side-by-side I blow him out of the water, it really ticked him off when I connected his Atrix to my 3G hotspot and Speed tested quicker than his Atrix alone. Plus with the Atrix you have to rely on Motorola to release updates, and there is no way to put CM7 or another custom ROM (as of now due to encrypted bootloader)... Not to mention the version of 2.2 on there doesn't utilize the second core (if I am incorrect let me know). Sure he can hook it up to a TV and play around, but that isn't useful...
Get rid of the atrix. For a dual core phone that thing is a straight up embarrassment to Android. No ones kidding when they say the inspire is faster with no overclock. Doing side by side tests of inspire (stock) vs both atrixs I had, the inspire won EVERY speed test I gave it. With an overclock, its not even close.
And yes the atrix IS utilizing both cores with that version of froyo that's its shipped with, and with no possible way to ever flash a kernel, don't expect it to get much faster than it is right now
Edit- and my battery life actually isn't to bad at 1.8 surprisingly. It thought it was gonna be really bad, but it turned out to be pretty good.
Update:
Bought a brand new Inspire today!
Thanks for the input everyone!
PS. If anyone is interested in my Atrix it is for sale. $400

in terms of stock one of the reasons people prefer the inspire is because of the htc sense UI it gives a smoother and better experience with andriod
motorola's UI is lik a rip off of htc from wat ive seen of it at least

The Atrix is from Motorola, for the main reason. Blur is horrible and Motorola locks their phones down to where modding just isn't as plentiful as an HTC phone. On paper, the Atrix is a must-have device. But in reality, it is a buggy Motorola phone. The build quality of the Atrix seems to be excellent, though.

Its not great build quality. It does have some heft to it, but the back creaks and it is entirely plastic. The only good thing is the whole back can be replaced. The fingerprint sensors also aren't aligned or centered... they look like they were thrown in there.

I had both the inspire and the artix
my atrix experience wasn't terrible but that might have been because of the fact i was rooted running gingerblur the best rom out right now for the atrix... i enjoyed the atrix's great battery life and fingerprint scanner but the build quality wasn't good and felt cheap to me
in my opinion if your running a stock atrix with no intention of flashing a rom to it your going to get annoyed and bored of blur..
that being said sense isn't much better for me im much more a fan of stock android or miui actually is pretty good to. I would personally get rid of the atrix and try the inspire the screen is bigger and brighter in my opinion and has a lot more of rom development the atrix

QFT. I couldn't stand how badly my back cover creaked. Nothing about that phone screamed quality to me at all, software or hardware wise.
locked bootloader= no reason to buy EVER. Even with the cool dual core you can't overclock or do any cool **** w/ roms. On top of that motoblur is a piece of junk.
As it comes time to upgrade once again, I find myself confronted my many options. The phones I am looking at are the Infuse 4g, Inspire 4g, Atrix 4g, Focus and iPhone 4. I am very partial to the Android devices and was hoping to end up with one. I currently have an iPhone 3g but want to trade up due to performance and battery life issues.
I would greatly appreciate some discussion and information on these various devices and the problems and plus's of each. I like the Atrix due to its power, battery and potential if the bootloader is ever unlocked. The Inspire is interesting due to the wide amount of development but I have sever concerns about the power in comeing years, battery life, despite ROM's and the speaker. I like the Infuse's screen, power, and, due to unlocked bootloader, development potential.
I have had Samsung "dumb" phones in the past, the SMS flawed Impression and the sub-par Solstice, so i have some concerns about Samsung phones. I like HTC but dislike them putting tiny batteries in their high end phones. Motorola is generally OK but I understand support is a bit lacking. iPhone is super reliable but I believe the OS is stale and boring. Also, i worry about the 4's future with the advent of the iPhone 5 in the coming months and, like I said, I like Androids.
Lets get some discussion going!
This is posted in the General's of all 3 phones. Excluding the Focus.
Hi there! i have had my Inspire for 2 and a half months. The first thing I must say is, I am unsure of how battery life was on the Iphone, but battery on the Inspire could be better. As any smartphone, the screen consumes A LOT of power. Only twice, however, has my battery not lasted me through the day. On average, I consumed 5% battery per hour on moderate use (25-30 texts per hour, fiddling with a few widgets, looking at stocks, etc) when unrooted on the stock ROM. On heavy usage (screen on especially if playing games, etc), expect to consume at least twice that. I have later rooted and upgraded to the Inspired Ace ROM and done a few battery calibrations and my battery has seemed to sustain much better.
Battery aside, this phone ROCKS! First impressions may be lacking as the battery cover was very difficult to remove on mine, even left scratches where a screwdriver was needed to pry it. The case covers that up though. The phone seems to be very fast and powerful. I have never had any major problems with this phone. It is by far the best phone I have every had. The only problems I have had were when this phone was stock and unrooted. I have more apps than any one person needs (>100) and the built in Froyo application manager does not seem to handle this number well. You have to exit the Manage Applications app then go back to it to load them all sometimes. This problem was fixed with the installation of a Gingerbread ROM, however.
Root was painless with bubby's simple root. (I was almost disappointed at the small amount of user input required! )
The HTC Sense ui makes the phone very user friendly, as it includes many custom widgets for things like mail, stocks, news, and other things. The SRS Enhancement included with Sense ROMs makes music sound amazing.
I have included the high parts here. If there are any more questions you have, please ask. I will be happy to answer any questions you have, as I would HIGHLY recommend this device.
hey will! im thinking about getting a inspire, but a user at the store todl me the phone freezes alot. is that true for all inspires or probably happened to him because he bough a faulty or defected device?

thank you! and also, i saw the inspire in the store, and the picture and just the quality of the screen and colors was BEAUTIFUL, i thought it was the exact if not better than the iphones visual quality. But i saw somewehre that the iphones resolution is better? how!!!
It has to do with the inspire being superlcd whilest the iPhone has a retina display which in essence is a very high res lcd to the best of my understandings. Keep in mind, however that the inspire's screen is much larger. (take that, Mr. Jobs!) As for the freezes, the guy at the ATT store must be a fan of another phone he is trying to push (blackberry perhaps? Sure...) Or has a total lemon. Mine has never truly frozen. The app manager lagging due to so many apps in froyo and one time out of a thousand in a text message the keyboard would not type when unlocking the phone straight to messaging were the only "freezes" I found and like I said, hitting back and re entering solved instantly.

The iPhone is somewhat nice...But considering it is Apple I must hate it naturally, retina is wonderful, but side by side with an inspire I do not see much of a difference.
Also the 3.5 inch screen is such a huge turn off for me...having a nice 4.3 inch screen to type messages and play games on beats the iphone right there...
(I just noticed im going against the iPhone alot)...Lets attack the Focus! I also considered this phone, I enjoy windows and all, but a mobile OS that is still new to the game didnt interest me much...4 inch screen was okay, I found it a little too small for my taste and I know most of you are saying "whoah .3 inches! Huge deal!" it actually is a really big difference, have you ever compared an inspire side-by-side with a focus? Plus its Samsung, every samsung takes forever to charge, and they are not the highest of quality.
The atrix is a nice competitor, but yet not one at the same time. Cool it has a dual core, so what? My inspire blows it out of the water overclocked at 1900Ghz(of course not constantly running). I can run my inspire at 500Mhz and it is still extremely fast and it surprised me. Also as many know the locked bootloader on the Atrix is also a big turn-off, not custom kernels and plus no ability to remove motoblur? jeez just the fact it runs motoblur makes me cringe, and also the fact that it is made by motorola.
Now moving onto the infuse, finally. This is the best competitor to the Inspire, although I had a choice of getting it I purchased the Inspire, here is why. A 4.5 inch screen was just to large for my hand, I would rather be using an actual tablet than using a half phone half tablet. Also the fact that it is Samsung also scares me, not the best quality device. Touchwiz is not my thing either! Although once rooted that all can change, I still dont like how it is the native OS. If you are really banking on buying an Infuse, you should really just wait for the Galaxy S2 to come to the US, that phone will be a beast. If you read this whole post then kudos to you, I apologize ahead of time for all of the grammatical mistakes and comma splices, but you cant blame me, just got out of school, time for summer .
Yeah I have not used and Samsung Android phones, but my last phone (well last 3 due to warranty replacements) was a Samsung Jack. Between WinMo and Samsung, I'm definitely a lifetime customer of any of its competitors. Plus HTCs recent decision to stop locking bootloaders will be nice for future phones if you are going to mod. My last Samsung was more like samsuck. Just saying.

thank you both!! To me, HTC Sense is so well made that all the other operating systems? lol or whatever they are called in my opinion are just a more flexible edition of the IOS. I mean really, i look at the atrix, its widgets are boxes liek the iphone, it scrolls liek the iphone, and i find, well, i dont know if its the infuse or the atrix but the screen of one of them, may be both, is liek darkened? Its display isnt bright but its almost liek a gloomy type of brightness that the phone has. Im surprised no one else has commented or complained about it. But yea, i really want the Inspire, but ppl keep saying wait for a dual processor, but im only goign to get a dual processor phone that has HTC Sense the best in the business!
Not sure about the infuse, but I am pretty sure they do make sense based ROMs for non HTC devices. I know I have seen them for the galaxy s. So if you can get a non HTC dual core and want it to have sense, I'm sure you can find a ROM out there. However, from what I have read the second gen snapdragon (aka scorpion, according to HTC's specs) processor can hang with them fairly well especially with o/c kernels.

I would like to add, that the Infuse has 428 of RAM and the Inspire has 768, very noticeable difference. Yes, gsII is going to be a beast, but I still don't wanna touch a Samsung. After having one of their dumbphones for a year and a half before getting this phone at the end of Feb, and reading their mishaps with the last year concerning the gs line and the fact I can't stand douchefizz, I will no longer consider Crapsung. I'd rather wait longer to give up my Inspire. The only phone I will give my Inspire up for right now is the rumored HTC Holiday. This is my first smartphone, and I am very happy! Liked em since I first saw the Evo and Incredible last year. Now, since owning this phone, I am HTC 4 Life!

I am SO glad to see this. I had been jonesing an Infuse, but couldn't find a RAM spec. Jones now over. All I need is an overclockable kernel for Inspired Ace and even the 1200 MHz of the Infuse won't give me any envy.
I am very happy with the MDJ's v19 kernel on inspired ace. Overclock up to 1.6 GHz supported. I know some kernels will go up to 1.8 but I find this kernel good for battery life. I have leedroid on my sd card to try, but never have as I am happy with MDJ.

Quick threadjack, been looking for an overclock kernel for IA!
The only d/l link I'm finding is for MDJ v22... any chance you can link me to v19?
I suppose I should keep up with the changing kernels a bit better! V22 is just the latest update. it should be as good or better that v19. Allows higher oc speed best I could tell by the changelog. I suppose I should update my kernel as well! Remeber to change the governor to smarta** for better battery life without the need to set screen off profiles with the ondemand governor. That is what I have read and seems to work, anyway.
