[Q] G2X Google Nav Question. - T-Mobile LG G2x

My SGS4G didn't have a pre-installed voice with Google Nav until I followed the auto prompt to install from the market. The G2X however, came pre-installed with a natural, English Americanh voice...far from the robotic voice that is standard with Google Nav.
The funny thing is that every time I ran my Nav I'd receive the prompt that in order to have turn by turn I needed the voice pack (paraphrasing) but I already had a voice. Curiosity got the better of me so I downloaded the voice pack and am now left with that awful robotic voice to which we've all become so accustomed (unless you've forked over 2.99 for SVOX).
I could pay the 3 bucks for SVOX but it kind of bothers me that I already had a natural voice pre-installed but I can't get it to come back! There's no trace of the download in my applications management, my market or anywhere.
Does anyone know how I can get the natural voice that came with the phone to return?

[Q] ICS Open Mic Voice Recognition

Hey guys. I currently have the kwiboo V1 ICS rom on my Nexus S 4G. I was just playing around with the google voice recognition and found that we have a couple more things that we can do via voice commands which is pretty cool. My friend has an iPhone 4S with siri and I was noticing he has to repeat himself a lot when trying to give it commands. I was doing some research online comparing siri to androids voice commands and one of the features of ICS is that its going to have an "Open Mic" feature which keeps androids voice-input system open so that it's always listening for voice commands instead of having to press a button. Has anyone seen this in action? I was curious about it and was wondering how effective this would be/how much extra battery consumption it would take.
I don't think it's quite available yet.
mic button disabled
Hey I recently updated my Galaxy S plus to ICS using CM 9. Later I figured out my keyboard mic button is always disabled. But my voice recognition search is working fine. Any way to enable it?? plzz guys..

How to get keyboard voice function working in Jelly Bean.

Solution: I have installed swype, and it seems they use a different system for voice transcription which works just fine! However this still doesn't fix the issue for people who don't like swype. But my Mom does like swype so it works out.
Hello, I just got my Mom a LG Optimus T today, and I have successfully flashed the CM10 rom for my Mom's LG Optimus T. I trimmed it and it works great. I found out that these devices can't use the google now voice function, bummer.
But this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36781540&postcount=126
Says that voice can work for google now through the keyboard mic. However the stock keyboard doesn't have one, so I installed swiftkey and the mic button gives an error when I long press it. Any Ideas? The keyboard voice functionality is kind of important to my Mom, she couldn't care less about the google now voice, just the keyboard. Thanks!
Edit: The keyboard Mic button doesn't show up for either stock or swiftkey keyboard when in google now, but it shows up in browser. Both keyboards give the same full screen "Exclamation Mark in a triangle" error when mic is pressed, when it's available in browser.
Do I have to downgrade my mom to ICS and lose Project butter to be able to have voice transcription on the keyboard?

Now, one can (well, almost but ...) have the whole hawg!
Here is how:
Buy (will not break the bank) the voice-search-assistant app.
Buy (creepers!) the paid version of Overlay (featured on recent portal!).
1. Create an app-profile for Google Search.
2. Drag the shortcut icon to the upper right corner.
3. Select voice-search-assistant.
4. Set minimum icon size, no text, transparent background, minimum visibility.
5. Reposition at upper right if need be.
6. Set start Overlay at boot.
Now when one clicks Google Now's mic icon, one gets the voice-search-assistant instead!
(Would love/prefer to do this as an Xposed/framework module. Means learning this API and doing some serious mid-level programming. Overlay does the job well enough, no need for other apps.)
Yeah, thanks but that's not the main issue. My mom just wants to have keyboard voice functions. Which only swype can give apparently. Otherwise she doesn't care.
But furthermore, it's not even an issue anymore! A few days after getting this phone for $20 off of craigslist, I saw an ad for 2 HTC sensations for only $180! At first I thought I was top late as he posted 6 1/2 hours before I saw it, but I text the guy, emailed him, the next morning I tried calling him, then I tried calling with a different phone and he answered! I talked to him and it turns out it was a mistake to answer, he had been trying to wait and text everyone at once later that night. But because he talked to me I was able to meet him after work. I had to wait with my sister 4 1/2 hours because he went to a get together with his family but it was worth it! Now, along with myself, my Mom and sister both have fantastic phones!
But this'll still be my brothers phone until we can get him a really good phone as well. And it's awesome when running jelly bean. thanks for trying to help!
And keep your eye on craigslist! You never know what luck you'll have.

Tasker "OK Google"

Seeing as the OK Google from any screen is not currently working I have been trying to find a way to wake the device using S voice and having Tasker kill S voice and open Voice Search. I am a Tasker novice and am looking to see if anyone has any ideas. I am currently unrooted which I think may be why it is so unreliable.
I have made a profile that when S voice opens it is killed and Voice Search is opened. I also tried it with the Voice Input service opened. It works occasionally, maybe 1/10 times.
Any input is welcomed.

I got OK google back after disabling anything to do with S Voice. I put the Google search widget on the top of each screen and now get OK google from every screen
As said in another post you can start Google now with s-voice without the need of tasker.
As S-Voice allows you to say something without waiting for it to listen you can say "<wakeupcommand> Start Google". I'm for example using "Galaxy Start Google". According to someone else you can also say "Galaxy Voice Search".
Both are starting Google Now and will listen to your voice without any button presses and even when the phone is locked.

Confirmed the galaxy voice search command works.
This is a great alternative until okay Google gets fixed. thank you so much!

Always listening google assistant

Can anyone point me towards a mod or hack that will allow google assistant to listen for "Ok, google" even when the screen is off? With the stock version, you CAN unlock your phone with trusted voice, but you must first hit a button a light up the screen. Samsung's S Voice is able to pick up voice with the screen off, and Google Assistant works similarly on the Pixel/Nexus series, I don't see why the google assistant can't be modded for the same function on other phones.
I'm looking for something for the Galaxy S7 hereqlteue specifically.

Google Assistant--User/setting errors?

Edit: So on my drive this morning after the 2nd command through Assistant things worked as they do through Google Now (speaking options, playing music). Took a week, which is quite odd (and not sure if it will continue working later). Might be a bluetooth issue which I am aware that there are many right now.
Started using my Pixel 2 last week and have noticed some 'issues' with Assistant commands over Google Now commands and am not sure if these are settings/user related as I would expect Assistant to be the same if not more feature packed than Google Now.
All the things I am listing work without issue through Google Now and on both my Pixel 2 and my previous Moto Z Play.
1. No voice prompt 'beep' when Assistant is activated. Google Now has a tone to let you know when it starts and stops 'listening.'
2. No talking back (responses) when sending SMS, setting reminders, setting calendar events, asking where the nearest 7/11 is, etc., when connected to vehicle system (2015 Grand Cherokee UConnect)
3. No starting music back up once the above #2 is complete. Have to hit the 'play' button after each command.
The one issue I have solved is that if you are experiencing a blank screen when using Google Assistant (not Google Now) to send/set things, turn back on animation scaling to anything other than 'off' and it should properly display the text.
So Google Now works much better for my uses. Unfortunately, the phone is built with Google Assistant so I have not found a way to default Google Now over Assistant with at least the 'ok Google' hotword (doesn't seem there is any control over Active Edge). Moto Z let you create your own voice activation phrase for Google Now--I really miss that.
But because Google Now works without issue I do not know If I am just missing some settings or more control options for Google Assistant. Any recommendations?
