hi all,
Ok, I'm new to this stuff.
1. used the simple root and it worked great.
2. I then flashed CM7 and it worked great except market was not on it.
3. I downloaded and flashed gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip by mistake, not realizing I had to use another gapps.
4. After I flashed it, the cm7 and android setup screens kept cycling between each other.
5. I restored to clockworkmod (sp) and then deleted the gapps and tried to then flash cm7. It didn't cycle between cm7 and android setup, but the cm7 screens kept cycling and never got past that.
6. I thought perhaps it was just cm7 now, so I tried miui and it's doing the same thing. It's cycling between the gingerbread man and MIUI with the status bar and won't do anything else.
Very frustrated. what have I done and how do I fix it?
Thanks folks,
Brett
You could flash the stock ruu and start over.. or, wipe everything flash cm7 and then flash gapps.

installed new rom from rom manager and now i get a continual android.process.media. i had cyanogen mod 7.0.0 stable. installed the old rom to no avail. i have tried various roms and nothing. where is the error?
Firstly don't use rom manager, you are much better off booting in recovery and flashing manually. Rom manager has been known in some cases to cause issues
Secondly make sure you wipe system/data/cache when moving from one rom to another.
Thirdly if doing neither of the above helps, re download the rom. You may have got a bad download.
HEY NOOB, WATCH THIS
OHH, BOOBIES
I just got a replacement G2X through phone insurance. The new phone froze every 5 or 10 minutes and required a battery pull to get it up and running again. I had heard this was a software problem so I flashed clockwork mod, rooted it and installed Eagle's Blood ota gingerbread 2.3.7 in the hopes that it would solve the issue. I thought gapps were included but this turned out not to be the case. I installed the USB drivers for the G2x but now when I plug it in I get the installing USB drivers message. At least one of the installations fails every time. As a result, I can't mount the phone and place gapps on it via USB nor can I download gapps directly to the phone because I get an endless loop on the browser when I click the link on goo inside me. The good news is that flashing the custom ROM seems to have solved the freezing problem. The bad news... You already read it. Of course I forgot to do a nandroid backup so I can't flash back to the buggy ROM that my computer played well with.
Anyone have any suggestions?
You don't have to use the link provided, just Google a link instead. Or type in "gapps versions" and click at the CM7 wiki link.
Or use this link. http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip

Thanks! I had to find a micro SD card before it would download but it worked. Once I installed gapps it resolved the issue with computer connectivity as well. Who knew gapps were THAT important?
wierd day of flashing for me . was on epinters latest cm 10 but decided to do aokp 4 . been a while and always liked that one. n e way rom was impossible to install till a fix was put in about 1o pm last night. the rom aokp 4 by the bill booted right up. but no gapps, even thogh i specifically made sure to install them. i recently began using twrp. dunno if thats the problem. anyway no gapps. even tried the goo gappsfrom 7/26. super super user was installed but needed to be upgraded and regular su was not there at all. i tried several gapps but none would install i figured the best thing for me to do was restore epinters rom as i could not install either gapps or su. if anyone would like to fill me in on whaT IM DOING WRONG, IM ALL EASRS THANKS
BtW MY QUESTION IS WHY DID I LOSE ROOT AND HOW DO I FLASH THIS WITHOUT LOSING IT AGAIN . ALSO IS THERE A REASON WHEN I INSTALLED GAppe none would show after reboot, and lastly is there a way known to root atrix 4g running 4.1.1 jb. i have looked and seen motofail root but it is not listed for the atrix 4g or jb either. so i decided against taking such a risky chance. thank you everyone and please dont rip me, im a noob. lol
nevermind fixed it all is well now...
Okay, so ...
I was using CM11 the last avaliable build and I had no problem with it.
Yesterday I've decided to preview the new ALPHA CM12 so I flashed it and played with it for some time.
Because of bugs I've flashed back CM11 based ROM but this time it was ParanoidAndroid BETA5.
The ROM is perfect but there is no way to start Viber anymore. After installing and opening the app it goes in to crash loop (Unfortunately, Viber has stopped). And that goes all the way until I force close it.
Then I wiped data and cache again and installed CM11. The problem was still there ?! Can't understand the "logic" ?!
Then I was tired and decided to try it with stock rom. Downloaded ODIN and flashed stock. Viber wokred perfectly. Why?
Why I can use it anymore on custom rom?! The problem started when I flashed CM12 and flashed back CM11.
Any help?
I had the same problem on CM11 but only on latest version of viber (5.1)
I downgraded to an earlier version (5.0.2) and everything works fine. I just need to make sure that viber doesn't update on its own
Viber have new update and now no problem with FC.
