Quick and (hopefully) simple question: is there a way to remotely change a playing song on an android or iPhone device? Either via a Wireless network or by - for example - calling the playing phone?
Did you find something? Because my in ear phone do not have control buttons.

Hi folks,
At the moment I use my windows mobile phone as an MP3 player and GPS device for my motorbike.
When I have a passenger, they too can listen to my mp3 player and satnav through their earphones (simple splitter used). I have a microphone installed in my helmet for taking calls.
However, being able to speak to a passenger is impossible through this setup, at the moment.
I'm looking for a simple program or registry key that makes the phone playback, in realtime, any sounds picked up on the microphone. This would allow me to tie it to a button, and thus be able to talk to my passenger as we ride.
Anyone know of anything that might help?
(Note - I can't program for my mobile phone, so the searches I've done that revealed API calls and the like can't help me).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Quick bump on this in case anyone missed it...
Hey guys, so I've been using my nexus 7 hooked up to my home speakers to play music for a while now. I've been trying to figure out a way that I can control my my nexus using my one x phone, either by bluetooth or wifi. There is an app called tablet remote that lets me do the exact thing I want, but I cant scroll through my library and choose another song, I can only use the next track, stop and play buttons. So I'm wondering if there is a way to pair the tablet and the smartphone together so that I can choose what song to play and what not. Thanks!
is it possible??
i actually wanted to do this because i want to play the music through my tablet but want all the notifications from my phone.:laugh:
I'd be interested too! I don't believe it's possible. However, the Spotify app lets you control one instance from another if both devices are on the same network. I control Spotify on my phone from my watch using remote widget while it controls my tablet which is playing via my Bluetooth speaker.

Hello
I recently got a new BMW 116i. My Nexus 5 connects sweetly with the Bluetooth Interface, i can make Phone Calls and Listen to my songs.
What doesn't work is: I cannot change songs with my steering wheel. It should provide me a list of songs i can scroll through and select. Changing songs with the forward / back keys in the middle of the car works, but the "list" doesnt. (I checked the functionality with an iPhone of my friend.)
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance
People have always said car bluetooth often has many incompatibilities with difference devices due to proprietary software (which Android Auto supposively solves), it might just be that.
I'm looking for a solution to use my Nexus 7 as a video screen in the backseat for my son. It will be mounted on the back of the seat and I want to be able to control it from my phone (Nexus 5). I thought this would be fairly easy to do with all the remote desktop and casting apps out now but I have not found anything that will work.
Allcast on N5 with Allcast Receiver on N7 - Works to cast local videos but requires wifi which I don't have in the car. Out
Cheapcast - Turns tablet into chromcast. No longer working with most apps and requires wifi. - Out
Tablet Remote - Remote control from android to android. This will remote control the tablet from the phone. Only has buttons (volume, play, pause, directional arrows, etc) so you cant see what you are doing without looking at the tablet. If I have to climb back there it defeats the purpose. - Out
Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?
