[Q] Nexus s - General Topics

Hi everyone im new to this forums and i'm thinking of buying my first android phone(till now was on symbian).I can't decide between samsung galaxy s and nexus s.Any help will be apreciated.I want use the phone for video/music/gamesand browsing. The nexus s attract being a free platform.
Tnx for support.

I have Galaxy S, so I am biased, but it totally rule :>

The Galaxy S II will be out soon, so if you can wait a little while you can get either roughly the same thing but with better specs, or get the original one for (presumably) a lot cheaper.

I would go with the Nexus S >.> I was looking forward to it coming out for sprint.. but when my phone broke, i needed a new one fast, so i just got the g2x instead.

Well i don't got alot money i got 370 euro but i get it from someone that bought phones whit his contract so let's say at a 500 euro phone he pays 200 and he gives it whit 300(you got waranty and all you need)So i get the nexus s at a galaxy s price.Tommorow i will talk whit an it specialist that can procure phones i still don't know if he gives waranty(that will be bad) but he got the most expensive ones and hes like 27 years. Is dual core so important ? Less batery(anyway i charge it every night)And some extra speed but i think a single core is enough for browsing/music/video/games to run smoothly.Didn't saw any game that lags on nexus s.And i like the design too Camera and video is beter on optimus 2x but i on't rlly use them.I want overall a quality phone that can resist 4-5 years.

[Q] which phone shall I buy ?

I need an unlocked phone
Thing iss my budget is 350
Maximum
I was thinking of getting a x10 used
or just get a samsung s.
Whats your opinion?
Thanks. Andriod only though. can you give me other choices ?
Thank you.
If you like messing around with your phone (Flashing, tweaking, modding, etc.) and the T-MOUS HD2 works in your area for 3G, go with that.
Otherwise, a used Nexus One or HTC Desire I'd say... The X10 isn't what it's cracked up to be.
Who is your carrier and in what country?
i don't like samsung ,because my sister have one , voice of it very low
Well I can start by saying there is a huge difference between a nexus s and a x10. They both suck. The nexus s is a Samsung and it's already falling behind many android phones about to be released, nexus s is much better than the Sony tho. I olwould wait a month or so and you can get a dual core. They are on the way.

Shop around. Keep your options open. Plenty of phones out there that are better than the x10 Sam S. Check Craigslist, ask your friends, etc. You can get a good deal for 350.
Desire Z/G2 is another option you might want to consider.
I bought my new desire hd a week ago and its amazing...highly recomended!
i think samsung galaxy s is the best at the moment

[Q] Hello , Need phone choice advice

Hello XDA
Im Mac
My dog's name is Mikey
I'm new to the whole android scene , and i was interesting in purchasing a phone.
At the moment i have the choice between
- Motorola Milestone / Brand New
- Htc Hero - T-Mobile G2 Touch / Used 3 Months
- T-Mobile G1 / Used 1 Month
I was wondering , which phone do you guys think will be the best one for me, knowing i will be fooling around with them (rooting and etc)
I like the physical keyboard and having a fast phone. But if the hero is the best out of all three then i can get used to it.
What are there pro's and con's in your eyes.
Help me out abit.
Thanks alot XDA people
Well first of all. The Hero and Milestone both have a 5.0 MP camera. The Milestone has a better processor then the Hero which will make a difference after you root the phone. The HTC Dream isn't even worth mentioning in my opinion. Both its RAM and processor are very low, making it slow out of the box. To be 100% honest, I wouldn't go with any of these choices in phones.

Well
They are the 3 that are in my price range at the moment.
I can only spend 160 on a phone, so i gotta squeeze every tiny dollar i can into performance on a phone
I gotta be honest man, the 2.0+ updates to android have added a lot of wonderful things, and I'm not sure how well they would run if you root and rom'd them, and if you stuck with the stock firmware, a lot of great things about android won't be available to you....and that is frustrating as hell IMO.
My vote would be the Hero, but I always tell people if you are gonna go android, spend the money for a good, solid, FAST phone, because it can make or break the experience.
Thanks Alot
Im gonna go check them out one by one today.
Im really gunna look for the best performance once rooted.
Dude if you have $160 to spend then wait a bit and save up to $200 total then get a nice new GOOD phone. Or find one on craigslist or something... if you want to have a good experience you want something with good hardware, as in a 1ghz processor, 512mb ram, etc.. I got my phone that has those specs, a Samsung Mesmerize, for $200 with a 2 year contract. Something like that is your best bet, save up the money for it and you will not be disappointed.

I already have a contract.
I'm using my sim card to insert into another phone
If you go to radioshack, they have the HTC duplicate of the sprints EVO 4G for $30. If I were you, I would get that phone hands down. Also, AT&T are coming out with their own 3D phone here soon to combat with the EVO 3D. Probably could wait for that even.
I like the option ' My Dog '

you're next phone is??

I find it difficult to decide, when phones are being released weekly, and I'm not out of contract until June. As I have an SGS and the SGSll is a considerable improvement, then providing the SGSlll lives up to it hype, there will be no contest.
my contract finished in december, and I couldnt decide if i wanted the s2 on a short 18month contract, and get the s3 or wait for the s3! Ended up deciding to wait for the S3. Would have gone for the galaxy nexus, but the lack of micro SD was a bit of a kick in the teeth!
As I'm not rich I'll just buy a new phone when this one breaks. I'm not into futurology so I don't know when that will happen (hope in a long long time) so neither what phones will be selling at that time. It will be something with Android though.
Like my signature says (already got the note for about 1 week).
After that (july(other contract runs out)) dunno what's on the market then.
I'll probably stick with the SGS for now and SGS III will be my next move - However I'm severly tempted to get myself a Galaxy Tab aswell.....
Android for sure, probably Samsung, and if things don't change too much it will be a Galaxy S series phone.
But my SGS it's like new, and I only buy new phones when the old one breaks, so it could be a long time until my next phone.
i think my next phone will be Samsung Galaxy s III , i have galaxy s 1 and i think that the III is the best choice price / performance !!!!
For the SGS3 i hope it will have a 4.9" Super Amoled Plus HD with ICS Software Buttons. Seems like a reasonable size though i know they will probably make it smaller, not everyone has big hands. Of course i wish quadcore also... And i wish for TouchWiz 5.0 that doesn't include bloat, just necessary additions to stock and small UI refinements.
I hope for a good GPU, too... (Powning everything else)
I am really thinking to buy a Nexus S, but I am not sure cause the SGS2 is also a "beast"
I am waiting to see SGS III.

Probably S2, but not in the near future.

Buying a new phone.
If you don't have to own the latest and greatest smartphone, according to the money you can give, you need fore sure a phone that can make clean quality calls, which this not always means that the expensive smartphones give you good quality call but opposite sometimes it could be dismal! Go here and check by yourself what you need and do a little search on your country! droidthing (.) com
All that for $200? Goodluck on that, check out HTC wildfire s, its gsm and might be less then $200 now

amazon sells the Samsung i897 Captivate unlocked for $180 is that a good one. to last me a few years?? i mean i have had this Icrap phone for this long so i thinnk this one could take me a long time to swap out
samsung galaxy s2 has a lot of capabilities, and i think is the best phone now
i agree but i cant afford to spend $1,000 on two phones i think that would be retarded.
Check wildfire s or Motorola triumph

[Q] Worth buying SGS2 I9100G

Hey guys
Im new here. I am looking to buy SGS2 for about 26k. The problem however here(in India) is that the sellers say that they cannot distinguish between 9100 and 9100G, the model could be either of these..so its kind of a gamble, i could either get 9100 or 9100G.. :|
Now i researched quite a bit and have seen few negative reviews bout 9100G..that processor and gpu are inferior, processor doesnt reach its maximum limit(clocked at 1.008 ghz), and performance is slightly lower than original 9100..
So basically i just want to ask..whether the performance of 9100G is really that inferior, quite noticable in demanding apps? I mean i want to do loads of multitasking, heavy gaming etc.and will buying 9100G for 26k be worth?
Or i could buy some other mobile like htc evo 3d or motorola atrix 2 for lesser price and get similar performance to 9100g?
please do answer asap, im really eager to buy the mobile
thanks a lot
Even I am planning to buy an Android phone but getting confused between Galaxy Nexus and S II. What phones did you considered before coming down to S2 ?
well the thing is i was planning galaxy s plus..but thought why not shell some extra cash and get s2 which is better and will be future proof..
However this 9100 and 9100G problem has really scared the hell out of me..thats why wanted to know whether 9100g variant would be worth or not..
ok did you check Galaxy Nexus ? same specs/same price with better screen resolution.
Hmm well, firstly quite bigger, secondly i have heard it has compatibility issues with lower android os apps..
Also, i wont get samsung warranty in India..only dealer warranty..thats a big drawback..plus only 16gb fixed memory
Thats why preferring S2..
Reccomend you to buy classig SGS2 (I9100) CUS' I THINK ALL THOSE "FIRST " MODELS ARE WAY BETTER THAN THOSE THAT COME LATER. THEY ALWAYS HAVE SOME disadvantages.Hope i helped you.
Thanks for sharing
Why dont u guys read the initial post
I know the classic SGS2(9100) is better but its not available here (india). thats why wanted to know whether i can settle with 9100G or not..
Something I've forgot. a friend of mine has gt I9100 ad he's too happy with it. no problems so far. everything runs smooth even if you have 5-6 apps on. definitely the best buy nowadays.
