Hello everyone,
I just got the G2x yesterday. When trying to configure my exchange email I received an error message:
"this server requires security features your phone does not support"
I tried to set up the password for the phone but it still didn't work.
I set up my work exchange email several times before with my Garminfone (running 2.1) and my iphones without any problem.
Can anyone help?
Same thing happened with my Vibrant when trying to use Touchdown so I just assumed I wasn't able to get my work email on my phone. Maybe we are doing something wrong?
I have this problem too. Can anyone enlighten us? Or is this just a problem with our individual e-mail servers being too demanding of security features?
I'm set up with my work's Exchange account. No problems.

Try checking the SSL security setting during setup.

I'm having an issue with Touchdown and wondering if anyone can help. This is the only mail application I can use on the Captivate to connect to my job's exchange server and every time I get a new email, the phone always vibrates.
It doesn't matter if I have the phone silenced or even on a call. The only setting that stops this behavior also disables getting notifications when emails arrive, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a smartphone connecting with your work email.
One of my coworkers has a Droid and it doesn't exhibit this behavior, so I'm thinking this is a Captivate specific issue.

Why are you using Touchdown instead of the Exchange client that comes with the phone? The phone's email client has some drawbacks, but I don't know of anything that prevents it from connecting to an Exchange server.

Because the built in exchange does not support all the security policies and other junk that most corporations require, therefore it doesnt work.
Hell, even in 2.2 froyo (where better exchange security policies are implemented) still doesnt work with my corporate exchange email. Touchdown, while ugly, works great for me.
Ooops!
Oh yeah, i forgot about the sec policies. Duh.
Has anyone else using a Pop 3 account had trouble sending email? I've noticed the problem on about all of the 7-8 replacement Thunderbolts I've had. I took it to a Verizon store recently and tried it right before and after I tried the Nexus and it worked fine on the Nexus but not the Thunderbolt. It said that the account settings are incorrect when I know they're not.

previously i face this matter to in Indonesia,
can you tell me which error you've got?retreiving or sent email?
in my case i'm unable to sent email.
I'm set my smtp email to my active ISP, not from email domain...
here for an example:
my email [email protected]
yahoo smtp was [email protected]
i'm change it to my active ISP
smtp.smart.co.id
and voila, my email sent smoothly
I noticed since I installed the ICS leak about 2-3days ago, Im able to receive my email from exchange just fine, but cannot send email, they just get stuck in the Outbox. I just noticed this today after seeing a ton sitting there. I can continue to receive emails no problem.
This is an exchange setup, so obviously there is no incorrect outbound mail server setting like SMTP or IMAP.
So on a hunch I decided to add this exchange account to my iPad, and send a test mail, and it worked! So for some reason the phone refuses to send out any email from my exchange account but has no problem receiving mail into it.
I also have a GMAIL account which is setup using the native Gmail app and that works flawless, no issues there, its just the native email account with exchange now that seems to have an issue.
Anyone else having this issue? Ive tried to delete the account, re-add it, no change. Then went to Application and cleared all data/cache, no change.

never heard of this issue, but what about k9 as an alternative
K9 doesnt support Exchange Activesync yet, it only supports Exchange Webdav (which is older Exchange server implementations).

I know its definitely the native email app that has issues with sending the mail through Exchange ActiveSync. I just downloaded Enhanced Email from the market and put my same credentials in for my corporate email and was able to send out mail with no issues. Wondering if anyone else uses the native ICS email app with Exchange Activesync has issues.
I had that problem with the native email app yesterday with a recovery based ICS install.
After messing around with it for a while, I did find that the way the e-mail app is working is really odd/seems to require some of the bloatware I typically freeze. I went ahead and did another factory reset of settings in CWM and wiped cache and such a few times, and it did start working.
After the reset and not touching anything, I got the exchange setup to work with both the exchange server at work, and Hotmail's version of it.
I am getting same issue. I tried delete and adding account again. It works for few hours and after that it starts accumulating emails in outbox.
I have not factory reset again yet, as I would need to install all apps again
I ended up reverting back to GB. I have to be able to reply to work email. There is something wrong at the framework or core in this leak. Cause even other email apps like Enhanced Email had the same issue. Worked fine for a few hours then stopped.

You can try the newer email apps at

Was seeing the same issue, messages in the outbox that wouldn't send until manual refresh. Changed the account setting 'Auto resend times' from 3 to 'No limit' and problem solved!
Hi!
I'm having a very irritating problem and was hoping someone could help.
I am running stock ICS on my skyrocket, and I have my gmail account set up as exchange in the stock mail app. I can generally send/receive just fine, however I have one friend who 50% of the time seems to receive my email responses to her emails as blank. When I look at them in my sent folder of gmail on my computer, they show up as blank there as well, making this massively irritating since I then have to re-type the entire message.
Any idea what's causing this? I actually was having the same problem emailing her on my Nexus 7 as well from the stock email set up in the same fashion as my phone. And she does not have this problem with anyone else.
Thanks!
Odd issue, but I keep getting constant Couldn't sign in errors for my Yahoo! email accounts only when connected to mobile data, never on Wifi. Anyone ever seen this?
Try changing your APN settings, there's a thread somewhere showing what to change. Worked for my issues similar to yours.

I am having the exact same issue, it started happening to me about maybe a month or so ago. I did change my APN settings to a different one (internet2.voicestream.com) but did not add an alternate as described in the response. Did you try this and if so, did it work for you?
My solution was to install the Yahoo email app but if I don't need it, I'd like to get rid of it.
Possible solution

I have the same issues on my Nexus 4 using the stock email app. I went into the incoming and outgoing settings and removed the word 'android' from the IMAP mail servers. This worked for me and I am able to get the emails without the error. you can try that.
Nice Call!
