[Q] Will this case fit the Asus Transformer? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got my Transformer in a bit ago and want a case... anyone know if http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018LYCYK fits it? It looks like it should...
EDIT: Tossed an order in, already changed to "shipping soon" REALLY quickly. I'll update this thread once it arrives.

yeah, it fits great, i had it for my netbook, but now the transformer resides in it

Anybody know if these cases will fit with the keyboard dock?

Thanks a lot!

Seems like it would be a tight fit seeing how the Transformer is really 10.6 inches wide. I bought a case nearly exactly identical to this (the Amazon Basics one) and that is 12" external dimensions and is a tight fit. This case is smaller yet, at 11.5 external dimensions with similar padding.

That's the $5 case they were selling as the G Tablet case. It's a netbook case, so I bet it will fit with the keyboard.

i bought the exact same case. hope it fits!

Mine just came in and fits perfectly. I love it! It is like the case was made for it.

Do you think it will still fit with the dock and charger? The dock is another 0.5", at least.

What size? 10.2 or 12.1?

haha i also bought the same case and it fits perfectly! i think even in the future when i get the keyboard it will fit too!

10.2 . As far as the dock, it may fit ok. The charger fits in the front zippered pocket perfectly.

funny, i bought this same case yesterday. coming in tomorrow.
it's a netbook case so it should fit it with the dock just fine. it'll fill up the whole case but it'll fit.

Can any of you guys with this case upload some pics of your transformer in it? I think it looks perfect for the transformer.
Also, is there a consensus that the case will fit the tablet, keyboard, charger and cable simultaneously?

Yeah, pictures would be quite nice!
I still wonder why the 10" case can suite the transformer - according to amazon it is 25,4cm wide whereas the transformer is 27cm?!

Case is big even for tablet+dock.

Touchpad Accessories

So it appears there are official keyboard and dock/charger options...but is it possible to use say a third party keyboard with the Touchpad? If so will any bluetooth keyboard work? Are there any other docks that work other then the HP one?

a question for people who have had them for some time, is a case or screen protector necessary? Does the screen scratch easily, or will I be fine without one? I never like to use cases, my evo and xoom were fine without one, but i keep hearing that the build quality of the touchpad is not that great so thinking about getting something to protect it.

jonhern,
I would say a case is necessary just to make your tablet more portable. I would hate to put it in my backpack and mess up the screen because you don't have a case around it. I don't think the screen protector is necessary, but if you don't want a case it might come in handy. Just remember, you'll have a 10 inch piece of glass floating around that would be very easy to scratch.
Also, this isn't really a cheap case but it is very high quality:

I have a version of this case for my nook color and love it. It's very sturdy, looks quite professional, and has a built in stand with multiple positions. It is worth the money!

Yeah, when i took my xoom anywhere i would just stick it into my leather folder legal pad. nothing ever happened to it. just worried about the build quality of the touch pad and if it would be more prone to scratches, on the shiny plastic body and glass. the xoom was metal and glass, so felt more sturdy.
seen a few on ebay around 15 to 30 dollars for synthetic leather...

On the hunt for a TPU case for the TouchPad, or any iPad 1 TPU cases that have been confirmed fit the TouchPad. Thanks.

You need to be careful with the third party cases. Yes they may be cheap and look night, but they can hamper the tablets functionality.
I purchased the offical HP case off of amazon.
Why? Because it does not cover the bezel.
There is a swipe up function in webos that is suppose to be pretty neat, but typically (depending on your orentation) you swipe up from the bezel at the bottom to activate this feature. The feature actually only uses a pixel wide sensory area at the bottom of the screen...but people at precentral report difficulty activating this feature when the bezel is covered.
Hence why the touchpad case from hp does not cover the bezel.

Compatible $5 iPad 2 sleeve for HP TouchPad @ VZW
Several people on FatWallet have been reporting success with this iPad 2 sleeve from Verizon Wireless, currently for $5. Owners say the TouchPad fits just fine. Be forewarned though - VZW has a $35 restocking fee return policy, so if you buy, buy knowing you'll be keeping it if it doesn't work out for some reason. Not like you're out a lot, anyway.

Also anywhere to get another charger with the proper 5.3v 2amp at a reasonable price? You can't use just any USB charger because if it puts out only 5v it will take about 3 days to charge.

I would be interested in hearing what make/model you ordered, and how well it fits the tablet. I'm looking for something to keep the fingerprints away .
Anyone ordering an iPad cover for use with the TouchPad needs to be sure to order a cover designed for the original iPad, not the iPad 2. The original iPad dimensions are extremely close to those of the TouchPad, but the iPad 2 is much thinner. The TouchPad will not fit in most cases designed for the iPad 2.

[Q] Otterbox Defender style case.

Has anyone found an otterbox defender style case for the touchpad? I read that otterbox said they currently don't have any plans to make a case for the touchpad.
/bump
I am also looking for a case like this. I have the official HP case I bought from Best Buy but I feel as though if I WERE to drop it, the case would do very little.
Well the iPad 1 defender case would probably fit, anyone want to spend $90 to check??
Ebay for 20 shipped.... its worth a try...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OTTERBO...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item231409499c
Of course you would need to dremel some holes to make the speakers and buttons work i would think... Also taking out to charge it on a touchstone would be a pain... But maybe still worth it! So whos going to buy it and try it?
So i found one new on ebay, made the guy an offer and got it for $10 with FREE shipping!! So i bought one for the hell of it, i will do a review and let you all know if it works out.
link to ebay item plz?
You can buy the iPad case on UK eBay for £21.99 but I'd be worried that it covers the bezel completely, hard to swipe.

sorry guys I forgot to update this. I did get the otterbox and no it does not fit. The tp is to fat. I used a heat gun and after a lot of work got it to work, but I can tell its not worth it. It did not come out perfect and I would need one or two more to really get the process down right. If you where going to do it just to do it and you felt like spending the money on a few of them you could do it. I would post pics but I already got rid of it.

roocase fits like a glove. Zippercase keeps tp safe in a bag and pull out jacket is nice when just needing a drop protection.
There seems to be quite a lot of different roocases, which one did you get?
Yeah, pic or it didn't happen.

Sleeve for both 700 & Dock

I'm trying to find a good sleeve that accommodates both the 700 and the dock simultaneously. Had a great Poetic case for the 101 and bought a replacement for the 700, but for those times when I need to travel with both I figured a sleeve would be a smart option, but still haven't seen anything that definitively works. Prefer stretchy/micro-suede over leather. Any ideas?

I'm likely going to get one of them too, just not sure which one to get -- I think Neoprene is the best solution, just don't love the way an older netbook sleeve (neoprene) picks up dust in a briefbag. I have one for an Asus netbook so I should be good to go, but haven't even looked into brands (yet) -- which one do you have?
Mine's a kensington I got in a netbook starter kit with cheap mouse and desk lock. Mine has pull over flap at top that fits tight with or without dock an provides some padding for impact protection.

I think mine's a Belkin, I've used it for the Netbook but I'm going to see how it rolls with my 101/keyboard combo, can't imagine the size will be that different that there will be a discrepancy -- if mine works I'll stick with it, I've used the keyboard really infrequently so I'm not too-too worried. But I'll keep an eye out, Kensington's definitely a possibility...
Thanks for the heads up...

Case + Touchstone Recommendation

Hi All,
I'm looking for recommendations for a Touchpad case that will work with a Touchstone. I've heard nothing but positive things about the Targus Truss case, except that it is too thick to work with the Touchstone. I've heard that the Poetic Slimbook case will work with the Touchstone. Anyone have one? Any comments?
Or do I just go with the genuine HP case, which I assume works with the Touchstone?
Any reasonably slim case will be ok as long as there's no metal in it. I have my TP in a tpu case inside a fairly hefty leatherette case and it charges fine on the touchstone.
I saw go with the genuine since it works with the touchstone and offers the best value by offering protection and flips to be a stand. It's also pretty slim.

I have been using the Acase and it fits perfectly, looks great and charges fine with the Touchstone.

i have the incipio and it works as well.
Using the HP case, love it.
I just got one from wall mart called m edge. It was actually one of the only few that fit. It let's you rotate 360° while still attached and folds to a stand. Only $30. And slim and simple

It looks and feels good, its usable as a stand and works fine the the touckstone also. never tried another but i am very please with this one.

i would go with the Hp touchpad products.
haven't tried any cases with a touchstone yet but I do have the Original case and a pleather Chinese case thats horrible.
The original case is significantly better. till the areas near the volume and charge port stretch out for no apparent reason. Seems to be a common defect for it though.
I have the stock folio cases on mine. They work fine with the touchstone dock. Though the flap on the cover eventually sags.

Resurrecting it only because this bloody fantastic tablet is still popular.
I use the touchstone with the Targus, the OEM case from HP and TPU cases I pickup years ago. No problems.
I wish that I could still find the TPU type cases...
Touchstones are still around on FleaBay for $20 on up and there's some $$$$ ones on Amazon also.

case decisions

Hey all
I've looked at so many cases online and am still confused. I am hoping someone here can advise me.
I'm looking for a case that can function with the tablet only and with the keyboard dock. I don't want to have to carry the dock seperately but also don't want to be limited to using the keyboard continuously or battle to clip it on and off.
Second problem is that this is our main entertainment device when travelling. As in, we watch movies off it. I see nearly all the cases cover the back speaker. Are there any that don't cover the speaker that can do the keyboard dock, or does covering the speaker not effect it too much?
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers
Alan
Well there are holes in the back of the caseen Designo Perfecto for the speakers. I works with the dock as well. I've been using mine for about half a month now.

I can confirm that the caseen Designo Perfecto case has the perfect design. All the holes are in the right place.
Thanks for that. I will look at that post.
Is there a large difference in quality between the caseen and others for half the price (e.g. Poetic FlexBook 2in1 or Igadgitz portfolio pu)?
Can't say, tbh, since I have no experience with any of the other cases. There are, however, people who have bought them and reported back in the thread linked above.

The Caseen case is great quality. I got the black tan plaid one a while back (only for the TF700, not the dock but build quality should be the same)
http://www.caseen.com/assets/images/cs-2tf700-1.jpg
It looks and feels amazing compared to other cases like Poetic (not saying they are bad, I like them as well).
One issue I had with the Caseen case however was that it wasnt a very snug fit. The TF700 would rock back and forth a bit inside the case. I might just be spoiled because I have a perfect fitting Acase case for my old TF201 that fits perfectly on the TF700 as well. Maybe I got a bad build of the Caseen case, I don't know I only ordered one :/
So the only reason I'm not using the Caseen case is because my TF201 case is a perfect fit. Aesthetically wise its not as nice as the Caseen however. I lent the Caseen to a friend and he loves it.
This is the best case I could find. When opening, just pinch the keyboard for the first week or so and the leather softens up to where the elastic tabs always hold the keyboard in place. The tab is easy to remove.
