case decisions - Asus Transformer TF700

Hey all
I've looked at so many cases online and am still confused. I am hoping someone here can advise me.
I'm looking for a case that can function with the tablet only and with the keyboard dock. I don't want to have to carry the dock seperately but also don't want to be limited to using the keyboard continuously or battle to clip it on and off.
Second problem is that this is our main entertainment device when travelling. As in, we watch movies off it. I see nearly all the cases cover the back speaker. Are there any that don't cover the speaker that can do the keyboard dock, or does covering the speaker not effect it too much?
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers
Alan

Well there are holes in the back of the caseen Designo Perfecto for the speakers. I works with the dock as well. I've been using mine for about half a month now.

See my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36285535
Time to look at cases for our infinity. and the replies after it as well.

I can confirm that the caseen Designo Perfecto case has the perfect design. All the holes are in the right place.

Thanks for that. I will look at that post.
Is there a large difference in quality between the caseen and others for half the price (e.g. Poetic FlexBook 2in1 or Igadgitz portfolio pu)?

Can't say, tbh, since I have no experience with any of the other cases. There are, however, people who have bought them and reported back in the thread linked above.

The Caseen case is great quality. I got the black tan plaid one a while back (only for the TF700, not the dock but build quality should be the same)
http://www.caseen.com/assets/images/cs-2tf700-1.jpg
It looks and feels amazing compared to other cases like Poetic (not saying they are bad, I like them as well).
One issue I had with the Caseen case however was that it wasnt a very snug fit. The TF700 would rock back and forth a bit inside the case. I might just be spoiled because I have a perfect fitting Acase case for my old TF201 that fits perfectly on the TF700 as well. Maybe I got a bad build of the Caseen case, I don't know I only ordered one :/
So the only reason I'm not using the Caseen case is because my TF201 case is a perfect fit. Aesthetically wise its not as nice as the Caseen however. I lent the Caseen to a friend and he loves it.

This is the best case I could find. When opening, just pinch the keyboard for the first week or so and the leather softens up to where the elastic tabs always hold the keyboard in place. The tab is easy to remove.

THANK YOU! For all the positive comments on the caseen PERFECTO case for the TF700. You guys really make my day when I read things like this on the XDA Forum. We've had a lot of success with the PERFECTO line, for good reason. For those wondering when stock will arrive (We sold out during Christmas) we will be restocking very soon at the end of month - early February. Colors and available waitlists can be done here: https://www.caseen.com/Transformer-Pad-Infinity-TF700-TF700T_c_49.html
Thanks Again from caseen!

Cases!

All i see are pouch and folio type of cases, hoping more choices come out soon.
What i miss is the black $10 TPU case w/ kickstand i got on eBay for my original Tab - i wish there was an identical one for the 7 Plus. It won't fit the 7 Plus as the 7 Plus is slightly longer. Thinner is nice w/ the 7 Plus, but I feel like i can more easily lose grip of it compared to the original Tab.
I have a few kickstand accessories i got for my old Tab, but they're not as convenient as a little fold out stand that comes out of the case it's always in.
For now, i took some carbon fiber vinyl covering i had left over from covering my laptop and covered the back of the Tab, then i shaved the back off an extra case i had for my Droid RAZR and stuck it to the back of the 7 Plus w/ double-sided automotive tape. So now i have a kickstand that folds out of the back of it.
The RooCase people inform me that they will have a pretty nice case out for our GTab 7+ around the end of December exactly modeled after the A100 case. Had one for the A100 and it was quite nice. Functional and well-built. The Executive Portfolio model here. Leather is good and the screen frame is securely velcroed. Got it for about $35. I plan on snagging one.

Poetic case is good for the price http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006DKEUL6
Update: woops sorry i didnt realize that you werent looking for folio cases. Anyway, i ordered a skinomi black carbon fiber protection made for this tab. Unfortunately, i havent received the item yet after 2 weeks of waiting. Im having a very bad experience wit them right now. 3 days after i ordered i made a followup, they told me that they had just processed and shipped my order. I was thinking if i hadnt emailed them, they wouldve neglected my order. Anyway, benefit of the doubt, fine. I waited 10 days nothing was happening on the tracking number. I emailed again earlier to followup and voila! The shiiping just started! What the hell is wrong with those people!

Mine just arrived. I put it on and it's setting. If I have time tonight, I'll post more thoughts and pics.
Got my poetic case last night. i'll put pics up today after i get off of work, but i like it. It has cutouts for nearly everything. The only piece that does not have a cutout is the IR transmitter which is easy enough to fix. It has a nice magnetic closure, and the flap to hold the tablet in has velcro which my similar case for the transformer did not have. All cutouts line up reasonably well, the front microphone and camera are not perfectly centered, but that can be attributed to how far i shoved the tab into the case.
Overall i rate it 8/10, its going to be the case I use for the foreseeable forture, the price is great, and the shipping was fast.
(will add pics later today)

Yeah my issue with Skinomi was resolved by their manager. Anyway, the carbon fiber skin looks great and the screen protector is smooth. There's a little bit of protruding skin on all 4 corners because they only designed two pieces for the sides that go from top center to bottom center (left and right pieces). It's not a big deal actually but the pointed corners poke my skin sometimes.
It's a folio case, but I'm interested in seeing more about this incipio T-mo offers: http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones...-phone=Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-7.0-Plus-4G-Prepaid
I'm glad I found this thread. I've been looking for a case too. I heard back from otterbox CS and they said they have no plans on making a case for the 7+. I'm waiting to hear back from case mate.

Also VERY interested in T-Mobile's Incipio folio case. I have looked at the limited number of cases currently available and they all look pretty bulky. Especially since one of the main features of the Galaxy 7 Plus is how incredibly thin it is. The Incipio case looks pretty thin and form-factor (from what I can tell.
Anyone have experience or seen this case in person??? I have called a number of T-Mobile store here in NYC and none carry the case (most don't even have the Galaxy 7 Plus at all).
Thanks!

Cases
I have been searching for cases for days, and i got my + relatively early. Just so you guys know, many of the folio cases for the original Gtab will fit the +. However cutouts will be incorrect for headphone jack, IR, and camera a bit offcenter. I hate folio cases and just want a plastic/gel snap on for the back w kickstand.
I purchased the T-Mobile Incipio case and it fits great. It was a little pricey at $50.00 but there werent many options. They were having a "buy two accessories get the third one free" promotion so I also bought the screen protector and an extra charging cable.

Any chance you could post a few pictures of your tab in the case? None of the T-Mobile stores in my area have it, so I need to get it online. I'd really like at least a semi-decent look at what I'm getting before I pull the trigger and purchase one.
I think its a good fit. The sim card slot and sd card slot are covered but I rarely need access to them.

Looks like the Sikai microfiber
the case finally arrived. Not the best, not the worst.
The case is very similar to the look and feel of ipad1 official Apple case. it is very thin, especially compared to my roocase which felt like a briefcase
The biggest issue with the case is attention to detail, especially round the buttons. They just haven't been cut out properly which is very frustrating as with a little more focus it could have been a great case. This is very noticeable around the for the power and volume buttons and the material (faux leather of whatever the **** it's called) sticks out
Also when the case is closed, you can see the flip is slightly misaligned with the rest of the case.
Anyway, it will replace my roocase as my everyday case as it's easier to carry and makes it look and feel lighter. Paid less that £10 so can't really complain

Moko Case [Updated]

I purchased the Moko case on Amazon that's 5.99 (free shipping for $25+ orders or amazon prime). My first impression was that it was rather cheaply made. Then again, you're paying 6 bucks for a case. I don't expect it to last long either- the corners are starting to show signs of wear and tear after only a weekend in my messenger bag (see pic below).
I bought the white one as you can see, but in reality, it comes as a very dull white color, almost grayish. The feel of the case isn't very sturdy. Since it is "white" it is prone to getting dirty pretty quickly, as it already has picked up some other colors from sitting inside my messenger bag.
I really like that there's a band for you to slip your hand in while reading. This is especially useful if you're on the train and you have your hand slipped through the strap (no one can take it from you easily and it won't fall out of your hands should you fall asleep). I also like that there's a second strap in the back, to hold the cover to the back so you don't have the cover flapping around.
The insides is a felt like material, with 2 memory card slots (I don't understand why they're there because the Note 8.0 doesn't read SD cards). It also has a pen loop as well. As someone mentioned in another thread, it appears that the bulk of Amazon's covers have an added loop on it. The loop is on the back so it's not intrusive. I do intend on getting the S-Pen w/ the eraser on top, so perhaps that pen loop would come in handy. The case like every other, also doubles as a stand for reading or for typing.
What really bothers me about this case is the insides where the top and the bottom doesn 't taper to the tablet and kind of bulges out a bit- I'm referring to the picture below w/ the Samsung logo- you can see that the case sticks out and not flat against the tablet. It's not a functional flaw but more of a cosmetic one.
All in all, it's only an average case- I'd give it a 6/10, any questions or if anyone needs more pictures, let me know.
Also I forgot to mention- this case does support the sleep/wake functionality.
I also bought a KDL Case and it's currently shipping. Once I receive the KDL case, I'll write another review. The KDL case can be found here:

UPDATE
Just an update on this case. I've been using it since I posted this review and now from the pic, you can see that one of the "hinges" (I guess you can say) already broke. Like I said in my review, this should only be a temporary solution for a nicer case you have on the way- PLEASE SEE POST #12 FOR PIC
I also bought a different Moko case and I second on the built quality. it seems very cheaply made and the flaps are not stitched properly.

I look forward to your KDL case review, I've been looking for a bookcover alternative. Please let us know how long the delivery took also.

Yeah, MOKO always have very low price cases. If you want a case just do the basic job, you might go for. If you want a good case, I would rather to stay away from it.

The KDL case looks nice from the pics. I wonder about what the texture feels like, and also about the strength of the stitching where the cover attaches to the back. It looks from the pictures like the cover might get stressed a bit at that point when you fold the cover tightly around the back (and/or when creating the triangle fold for the tablet stand functionality), but it is hard to tell for sure from just images. I also like that the same triangle fold is used for both tablet angles as that seems like it might be more secure/sturdy than the Samsung Book Cover seems to be (especially for the mostly upright angle, according to some reports).

It is nice to see that there might be some decent options to the official Samsung Book Cover as $50 feels a bit exorbitant.

Well that sucks.... but thanks for the update! I look forward to the review nonetheless!
I got this case as a temporary solution to protect my device (since Samsung products are fragile) and honestly I can't complain! $5.99 is a great price and the case does everything it should. I knew getting a white one would get dirty far more frequently so I went with black instead. I haven't seen any noticeable signs of wear yet but the flaps which hold the device in place are a little raised.
I'll probably wait for a more premium case to be released before I purchase another, but for now this one works great. I only wish it had some way to stand it up in portrait.

The card slots are too small for an SD card. They will hold the micro-SD card which the Note 8 does read.
The slots might hold sim cards for the non-US Note (I'm in US so my Note doesn't take a sim card).

I bought a different MOKO case only paid $12 for three different cases. Super Cheap, I wouldn't expect the quality to be top notch on any case that costs, as cheap as, these cases. Any way for the price though, I can buy several if the craftsmanship goes bad. Anyway here are the pics of the MOKO case I like the best.

Quickie review of the caseen Perfecto Pro case for the Transformer Infinity. w/ Pics

Hi XDA,
Really happy to get my TF700T Infinity Pad. Anyway, I just got my Perfecto Pro model case from caseen. I wrote a quick review, and I must say this is one of the better cases I have owned for a tablet. The construction is really solid, leather really really nice, stitching is well done, and every port is accessible. I didn't find any other cases with the polish and reviews this one has so I went for it. I'm pretty happy with this purchase, and it really does complement my Transformer Infinity. I got the all black on black one pictured here: http://www.caseen.com/caseen-DESIGN...sformer-Pad-Infinity-TF700-TF700T-_p_624.html
Some cool notes:
- The main thing I was searching for was a dock compatible case and this one fulfills that purpose and more.
- There is a keyboard strap inside which secures the keyboard down while attached to the tablet which is very nice.
- Additional pockets to store my credit cards is usually a gimmick, but this one works really well! I don't bring my wallet to the coffes hop anymore.
- The smooth leather is really awesome and just has a quality look and feel to it. Much better than the PVC and fake grain on other cases. I got to tip my hat to caseen as this makes the case look gorgeous.
Anyway this is the best case to get in my opinion, glad to have found it! Great recommendations XDA!
Pictures attached for those interested. I tried to fill it out... it looks much better in person. Missing are the pics for the charger port cover strap (Really nifty, but picture came out realy bad).
Thanks for the review. Just think when covers cover the bezel it just ruins the look of the TF. It looks like it really suits your needs though so fair play.
Looks cool; already have a cover for the dock+tablet though
If I saw it correctly, you seem to have a matte (anti-glare) screen protector.
How do you like it? I've been thinking of buying one, but am worried about losing the beauty of the screen and therefore the benefits of 1080p and I am also worried about the touch responsiveness.

I had an anti glare protector before the rma center took it off. It was great for its intended purpose but you will lose some of the quality to the image. I really noticed how clear the screen is after getting it back. It also leaves a bit of a rough texture that I didn't mind.

How well does it work without the dock (I currently don't have one but do eventually intend to get one) ? My wife has an iPad Mini with a case that the cover folds around to the back and then a magnet can hold it there - really like that feature and would like to get a case with similar functionality.

The caseen anti-glare protector is great for my usage! I often take my tablet outside, so it really helps on cutting down on glare. But the primary reason I use is that the anti-fingerprint technology is really cool. I never have to wipe my tablet down anymore. As far as screen quality... once I got used to it, I only notice it one white backgrounds. Other than that it is nice to have.

It works nice without the dock. The spine of the case is elongated to be used without the tablet, and it works fine. Also, the strap can be pulled around and used to keep the cover on the back of the case. Pretty nifty strap actually.

I had an anti glare protector before the rma center took it off. It was great for its intended purpose but you will lose some of the quality to the image. I really noticed how clear the screen is after getting it back. It also leaves a bit of a rough texture that I didn't mind.

Yep the rough texture is actually better for me for some reason. I guess I am one of those that prefer the anti-glare protectors. Clear ones have the tendency to scratch up quickly and get dirty as well. Anti-Glare somehow holds up better over time?

Thanks for the review. Just think when covers cover the bezel it just ruins the look of the TF. It looks like it really suits your needs though so fair play.

Yes, I felt that way for awhile, but not after getting this case. The leather they use is very nice in hand, and I love the feel of it on my thumbs! This is one of the better points of the case. The leather surrounding the bezel is actually a plus and make the tablet much more comfotable to use in a way. It just feels great. I do know what you are talking about, I've had folio cases with a cheap plasticky feel for the bezel and that was a no-go!
Glad you like the case and that we could serve you well. Enjoy! =)
I received my case yesterday, very nice quality, I love it. Unfortunately, I did not receive the free stylus that was supposed to be with the order. I sent an email last night to them and guess what? I received an email today, with an apology, and they shipped out the stylus.
Very impressive customer service!

Case/cover for Z4 tablet

Has anyone found half decent case for their Z4 tablet yet?
For my original Z tablet I had the Poetic slimline case which was great. I have seen a few of a similar design advertised for the Z4T but many of the pictures have a badly photoshopped Z4T picture on the case which makes me nervous about whether or not they are really suitable.
I am looking at ordering the official Sony case in from Poland as I can actually get it cheaper than I would pay for it in the UK but I would prefer to be able to actually see it first. No Sony store in the UK hs the case available yet, apparently (only a handful of them even have the tablet itself!) If anyone already has the official case, please post a review.
I have seen the Muvit case advertised but in the UK it is almost as expensive as the official Sony case so not sure what the best optiion is
Would appreciate any feedback. Have you got a case for your Z4T? Is it any good? How much did you pay for it? Where did you get it from?
Thanks,
L

I did purchase SONY case for my Z1T initially, but after one drop where one of the only 2 clip / holder on the side banded. Making the whole case obsolete as my tablet was moving around loosely if not eventually snapped the banded holder.
From Sony's site, the case for Z4T seems to be similar deisgn (SCR32/B), so I probably wouldn't be getting it for my Z4T.
Ultimately I had good experienced with this brand, Ray-Out, and it's very durable case as I use my Z1T for gaming primary year round.
And, I'm ordering their accessories for Z4T also. (Case & blue-light cut protection film)
Hi,
Just some thoughts about the SRC32...
I found it to be very slim and a bit flimsy.
If you ask me it´s not really worth the price, but on the other hand there´s not too many choices out there and it does a decent job. It also looks pretty good in the closed position due to the slimness.
The magnetic lock is nice feature but it wasn´t as good as the iPad-air covers as the lock is located on the top rather than built in to the front, so it doesn´t get the same kind of fit when closed. The fit of the front side cover can get/feel a bit flimsy in closed position.
I also found it quite hard to keep the SCR32 in the standing position when used on a soft surface, as it tend to collapse a little too easily.
If it was prices at 10-20$ I would have been completely happy with it. I was expecting a little more from a 50$ cover/stand, but I guess it´s pretty common for the original accessories to be overpriced?
So in the end I didn´t regret buying it as there were no other chooses available and I really appreciated the extra protection and viewing stand.
Thanks for your feedback on the SCR32. At the moment I am struggling to find an alternative but hope that in a few months there will be something available. For the time being I managed to pick up the SCR32 for the equivalent of $38USD so it will have to do for now.
Cheers

Does someone use the Roxfit SMA5154BG? Looks pretty comfortable and is mid-prized.

I will share it here when i find one.
Well quick update. I brought the IVSO case off from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/IVSO-Smart-...&ie=UTF8&qid=1436350615&sr=1-13&keywords=IVSO
I would say that it is ok but it has a concave back which ultimately makes the tablet seem a lot thicker. Also, I am struggling to keep my tablet standing up to watch a movie using the IVSO case so all in all, I am afraid I would not recommend it. I am hoping my Sony SCR32 will be better.

"Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Case, Pasonomi® Ultra-Slim and Ultra-light PU Leather Folio Case Stand Cover With Smart Cover Auto Wake / Sleep Feature for Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet-PC 10.1 inch (Slim Series Black)"
This is the only case available on Amazon US that I can recommend. The moko case is poorly cut and magnetic closure doesn't work. The IVSO case has that gaudy metal band for magnetic closure and, as you have said and I can confirm, a slighly concave back and doesn't stand up too well. This Pasonomi case is flat, feels good in hand, has working magnetic closure, and no branding. My SCR32 is stuck in Germany due to their postal strike so I haven't been able to try it yet to compare. Even so, the Pasonomi is the only good slim 3rd party case available on Amazon or anywhere else I have looked. The only downside is that it creaks a little too much when you put pressure on it near the magnets.
I have SCR32. Pros: slim, light, elegant, very good quality. Cons: flimsy, overpriced, very little protection. Verdict: would be great if cheaper. Pls note the official statement on Sony website : this case is not for protection.
I wanted to update this now that I have received my SCR32. I think so far as the SCR32 goes as a case, it is a bit pricey but, to be honest, having tried a cheaper case that would not even stand up, it is a much better model. The key thing to remember is that it is a "Style Cover" rather than a protective case. Therefore, it is not designed to provide all round protection for your new tablet. It is designed to do 2 things only:
1) Protect the glass screen from scratches (it does this)
2) Enable you to place your tablet at an optimum viewing angle (it also does this)
On thing I will say about it is that it does not increase the thickness of the tablet as much as some other cases I have seen.
It effectively has 4 clips attaching it to your tablet. Top and bottom and one on each side. The top and bottom clips are about 2 inches in width and the side clips are about 1 inch in width. Therefore, it does not have a surrounding frame for your tablet with cut-outs for ports etc. This, I think is what leads people to refer to it as flimsy. It is not, once you get used to it but because of the design, at first it feels like the tablet is coming away from the style cover.
Bottom line - it does compliment the tablet nicely and does what it has been designed to do. It has not been designed as an all round tablet protector. Think of it like an Ipad smart cover rather than an all round tablet protective case and you will not be far out. so
It is over priced and, to my mind should be about half the price it is retailing at - But then Apple charges about £29 GBP for the Ipad smart case so about right.
Hope this helps educate your buying decisions!

I just got my SCR32 in today finally after waiting for the Deutsche Post strike to end. It definitely shouldn't cost more than $35USD imo for build materals and quality. A good comparison would be to the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 official cover. The scr32 is slightly nicer and higher end at a lower msp. Both are overpriced though. It is much nicer than the moko, ivso, and pasnomi cases but not as much as price would indicate. One reason I do recommend it over the other cases even at its price is the way it snaps into place. The 3rd party cases could very easily scratch the tablet's metal frame during install and removal of one isn't careful. They are far too rigid. The SCR32's snaps are far more pliable and they more naturally bend around the frame of the tablet. This was instability noticeable for me. If you intend to remove the tablet from the case on occasion and want to keep it in good shape, splurge for the scr32.
Any hybrid case recommended? My kids always play games and throw the tablet.
I was going to buy the Sony case but my wife like that on goo.gl/aaWQra and its ok and much more cheaper
Just got my case today and I'm quite pleased with it. Slim that it doesn't take away to much from the nice design, hard shell back, and the origami design of the front cover gives you many possible options for standing it up. And the best part.... Under 10 Euro. German Amazon link for those interested.

I use SCR32
good material. elegant and also stylish very good
I bought this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/29157000287...49&var=590618933745&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
It's actually a nice case. The tablet fits snug; no chance of the tablet falling out. In fact, you have to be careful if you want to remove the tablet from the case.
When you open the case, the tablet comes on.
When closed the height is 9/16"

cheap case
I've just received this affordable case for my tablet and I really like it. It' very similar to Poetic line of cases and nicely protects the corners of the tablet and magnet turns on/off the screen.
