[Q] SE Camera App port - XPERIA X10 Themes and Apps

Hi guys! This is my first thread (and post).
Is that possible to port SE Camera to froyo 2.2 or port SE Arc Camera to froyo?
I´m missing smile shutter and other good thing from this app.

Nope u cant the drivers of 2.1 camera wont match the 2.2 drivers. If i recall.
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.2.1 CM Rom from Rendeiro2005

Hi and welcome
As Voelker said, drivers can't be ported from 2.1, and I understand Google stock camera isn't that beautiful
Face Recognition service (BTW it drains lots of battery!) works as a separate file (apk) you can get from stock SE 2.1 rom or from Arc rom.
You can try to port it, then implement functionnality to stock google app
don't forget SE said x10 will (!) get Gingerbread, WITHOUT Face service (it is said to be the stock Google camera). Your only hope is currently to keep official 2.1 rom if you do miss some stuff...

[Q] What about MIUI?

Soo.. I know the title isn't very specific.. but I would like to throw a question in here and get some responses..
So.. WHAT excatly is MIUI compared to other ROMs?
To me, MIUI is "just" plain (AOSP?) Android with every single "GO"-App available. GO Launcher, GO SMS.. and so on.
So.. what does MIUI exactly have, that e.g. CM with every app changed to some GO-App doesn't have?
MIUI is skinned to kinda "copy" Iphone-style..sure.. but is that really all?
Benchmarks show there are some differences..
So I wonder what's left of MIUI if you install a MIUI based ROM and change any GO-App to another one?
________
'Cause most ppl say they love MIUI for how it looks like. But honestly.. I could also use stock Android with e.g. Motoblur and change the launcher and so on.. so why going through the hassle to root and install a completely new ROM?
Ty everyone
And yes, I used the search, but didn't find anything relevant.. maybe because "MIUI" & "GO" are a liiiiittle bit vague
We need to know the history. MIUI just want to be like IOS, but in the Android enviroment. AOSP is just a plain OS, CM was loaded witb tons of tweaks but the UI not that eyecandy. HTC? Good but too dark to be like IOS and bloated. So MIUI with the UI mimic IOS with slight modification came. For me it is another CM with the stress more on UI.

Ps sorry for bad English
Wasn't the first MIUI ROM was found accidently? IIRC, the dev passed away and his work was found and released. Maybe I'm thinking of something else?

A renaissance artist perhaps? MIUI is developed by a Chinese team and someone came across it and started translating it.
There's plenty of info and screenshots etc. over at http://www.miui-dev.com which is the site run by the translating team.
Essentially it does largely look to be making Android more iOS-like. It's based on FroYo AOSP (Gingerbread soon) but with a _lot_ of alterations. It shares a little bit of code with CM as far as the addins.
In my opinion MIUI is the first Android Distro because it proposes a completely different way of Android where other ROMs are just forks.
Miui is the simple face of ios with the power of android.

MIUI has the most powerful and easiest theme engine..I really wish it was open source so others could use the theme engine..Its really that nice and simple to use..such a shame..
MIUI is so much better then stock android:
here's a list of apps that avalible only on miui:
Monitor (let you block apps and see how much data you have used)
Theme manager (no more zip's, really easy to theme stuff)
Better mms app
file mamanger
Miui gallery and camera
miui music
special lockscreen - much better the stock
folders - better the stock
quick settings on the notification bar
better phone app
easier to use setting's
miui wheater (avalible for all now)
some widgets like conatcs and etc...
if you chineese you can use the update app which auto update your phone to the latest version.
battery monitor
and much more that I might forgot
I'll go ahead and toss my two cents in...
Simple version-- I rooted my phone about 6 weeks ago, I flashed several roms in the first two days. (Cyanogen, Mikfroyo, Myns) Then I flashed MIUI. That was the last time I flashed a rom...
(If you want to know more, PM me and I'll give you the L O N G version of why MIUI is the best in my opinion)
Not a single one of the "GO" apps I've heard of including the two your mentioned are a part of MIUI. The post above me outlines a lot of the features but there is also so much more. I just discovered a feature the other day I never realized was there.
Try it, if you don't like it, NANDROID!! Make sure to grab yourself a few themes off of the MIUI forum. Again, I've installed one theme since I flashed MIUI ignoring the other 100 simply because what I have, Elite HD by bustadroid, is the best damn theme (period)
I just started to use Miui Camera for my Milestone today. Awesome fast!
Maybe can someone compile a list of Miui's apps and post links here?

[Q] How install the SGS2's camera app ?

Hi everybody,
Before the Nexus S, I'd the Samsung Jet, nice phone with a very good camera application, especially the panorama option.
Unfortunately, on the nexus the camera app is really simple, and I can not find a good application with panorama option.
So I've tried to install directly the camera.apk coming from the SGS2 on my phone, but it seems to be impossible :-(
Anyone knows how I can get it?!
I suppose that it's impossible to install the ROM of the SGS2 directly on the nexus that there are both Samsung's products....
Thanks
Nico
You can't. The Galaxy S2 uses TouchWiz.
TouchWiz 4 needs to be ported onto the Nexus S in order for the camera to work.
This is a PURE Google device.
Thanks for your quick answer
So I need to have TouchWiz 4, if I want to install the camera app....
But I though it was just a launcher, no?!
=> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937465
You need the touchwiz framework not only launcher which is not ported

No. That was not ported, that was just taken from the ROM and put on here. It was just a coincidence that the launcher doesn't rely on the Framework.
All of the Samsung code apps like Phone/Contacts/Browser/Camera/etc all use code from something known as a framework. Without that framework, it won't function. And the framework is specifically designed for THAT particular phone and won't work on any other phone.
The framework is also closed source. So it becomes complicated to port. Is it doable? Yeah.
Would I count on a dev to port it and make it fully working and fast? No.
If you dislike the stock camera, look for alternatives. MIUI Camera (apart of the MIUI framework, Camera 360 (app), etc.
Thanks a lot for your comments.
I've already tried others version of camera but I didn't find yet the good version.

[Q] G2X Gingerbread not worth it?

Okay, so i just updated to Gingerbread from Froyo using the LG Updater on their site. They said i would loose everything but i didnt, everything was the same.
Thing is, im using it now and im not liking it. Yes, it has all of the features from Froyo G2X but its ugly. The style is bad, the music player buttons are boxes unlike Froyo when its actually buttons, the menu button on the Lancher (app drawer, phone, browser) looks way more better than Gingerbread
I think im going to try to root and find a way to downgrade it back to Froyo, Gingerbread is really not worth having as for style. As for now, im waiting for SuperOneClick to fix for Windows 7 and i will root again.
But... tell me what you think... is it work it? And why?
i agree with u also..i too, also want to downgrade back to froyo :/ if anyone knows how, please lmk
Nvflash clockworkmod. Boot to recovery, and restore the stock nandroid. Problem solved.
GB seems like a downgrade. Where's the benefit?
GB smaller fonts are really unacceptable.
Awesome, im not alone i guess. Probably ganna do it when i have time, cant keep this Gingerbread.
I even noticed the pattern lock screen is worse in GB than Froyo

"- Orginal Gingerbread Camera Restores orginal gingerbread camera from ota if you installed flako's froyo camera"
it says that it restores it back to GB camera
And i repeat. The froyo camera is at the bottom of xboarder's FIRST post. The name of the flashable zip file is LGCamV1.2.1.zip
It's working, but still not as good as the original froyo one. that's why I'm still rocking with a froyo rom.
One click worked for me. I had agps and sporatic data issues with gb. So far froyo is working just as it did... honestly their update to gb is not a true update otherwise it would all function including the green solid connection icons. Oh well... :/

Wow... really wish i can get all of Gingerbreads features into Froyo, or atleast get back Froyos design, that would be nice.
I still havent found one person who posted ROOT for G2X Gingerbread or most new phones running on Gingerbread, i really hope that does not mean im stuck without ROOT
Totally worth it. I updated it last Nite and everything is a positive to me longer battery life, works faster and I like to black notification bar

Sony Ericsson addons for CyanogenMod 7 from zdzihu

Is it possible prepare and porting some Sony Ericsson stuff for CyanogenMod 7 from zdzihu? I mean Timescape, xLoud, Bravia Engine and other stuff? I would be great to learn CyanogenMod these mods.
Not every stuff... but some of the stuffs... may be timescape ..
In fact, I want this for my Blade with CM7.1 ROM. But if some stuff works on CM7.1 on X10, propably works on my Blade too

I know this, but CyanogenMod is the same ROM for many devices on same base. Ever phone has only changes of technical base.
To Timescape. Older version of Timescape from this topic works well (even other plug-ins from Market works), but Twitter plugin doesn´t work now (propably changes in auth). I tried version from newest Arc firmware, but it´s problem with fonts in app - they are too small and black instead of white.
Bravia Engine and xLoud is bound to the SE hardware, or not? I think not.

anyone got the sony ericsson call screen from 2.3 for CM7?
Maybe this will interest you guys what I took from wb Rom and put on z cm7. Its only a few bits and used titanium back up for this simply by restoring

Intrestly enough I have managed to restore time scape and Facebook intergration from WB rom onto cm7. Now the interesting part TS works and opens and refreshes etc but widget will not work. Facebook intergration syncs contacts and callender but not gallery pics for tagged photos etc.

Go down to Additional Information for each app (if it doesn't show on mobile, revert to a computer) and find out what android version you need. Many require 4.0 these days (hence the coining of the term "ginger-death").
If sticking with this device, you may be ROM'ing after all. I would suggest starting with TBaldens CM 10.1. GimmeABreak also looks nice. If all you need is 4.0, then I would recommend CM9 (although I never used it, Sverhagens 9.1 version sounds more improved than the official).
Dam so this phone will be useless cuz most apps wont work I just kept it to for the camera had a baby so takes great pics and videos and awesome camera adjustment video settings any new roms that have the same settings?

None I've tested, may want to do your research on them to see which works best for you.
Alternatively, you can do what I've done, and install CM anyway, and use a third party camera app -> Ultra Camera (theres a few, but UCam has a free version). Works well. You can see if you like it by installing the camera app now (supports Android 2.2 and up) and trying it out, taking comparison shots. Note that you will have to tweak the settings a little...when I installed it, it took 6MP pictures, where I have since scaled it up to the proper 8MP.
Hope this helps.
