Samsung i780 Dead... Power cannot start...

Hi anyone...
Need help to see if there is solution to my dead i780. After charging for quite sometime, the led indicator still remain "RED". I suspected something went wrong so I unplug the power and the red indicate still there. I tried switching on or off the phone but was unsuccessful. No choice, I have to take out my battery and place it back. After doing so, the phone cannot be turn on anymore!!!
Having an external battery charger and spare battery, I tested with a different battery but still unsuccessful. Charge the existing battery with the external charger have no issue. So I concluded that the problem now lies with the phone... any solution? or anyone encountered this before.
If I send for repair, is it worth it? $20++ for checking and $XXX.XX for parts.
Thank you.

Battery Dead

Just found out the other day that my battery is dead. When I plug in the G-tab everything is ok but as soon as I unplug it it immediatly turns off. Tried charging it up overnight but same thing happens. Have tried charging it 4 different times but no luck. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Just glad that I still have the receipt and box so I can return it to Sears.
Someone had a similar issue here, but I'm not sure what the end result was. I was thinking the battery might be fried or someone is loose in the board.
I would just get it replaced, the tablet not the battery.
I opened mione xmas eve did the same thing to me.

[Q] Battery issue

I seem to have run into a problem with the battery in my phone lately. Every time I charge the phone, and sometimes when it's not charging it will turn off. Just randomly no real cause. I don't get a text, or anything. I just pick it up try to unlock it and am greeted with the white HTC screen. This would lead me to believe that I have some kind of short near my battery causing it to not transfer charge across the contacts when its in a certain position or something along those lines. I've also turned it on while it's plugged in and the red LED that says it's charging is on, and the phone said that it had 0 battery left and shut down. I then plugged it back in and turned it on again and it did the same thing, but this time it charged for about 30 seconds, and then the battery was at 100% again. Leaving me going WTF is wrong with my phone.
I'm using a CM7 kernel with Gingerbeast if that helps.
Basically I want to know if anyone else has had this problem, and if so what can I do about it? Also if I did anything wrong or could do something that would help like flashing a better kernel or something advice on that would be much appreciated.

I.read a post once that quoted an HTC Rep. Went something like this...
"Unplug phone and Reboot. Plug in charger and charge until LED shows green or full charge. Unplug. Power off phone. Plug in charger until LED shows green or fully charged. Unplug phone. Reboot. Use phone. Power off. Plug in. Charge until LED shows green or fully charged. Reboot. Your device should be fully charged and battery reset(?).
Ok first off, halfway through when you robot and use phone. You probably won't get a chance to use as the phone may/ should shut itself down and show no battery. The HTC rep did not clearly state that or.it was lost in translation.
Secondly, after it shuts.itself down, let it charge fully. It should not take too long as your battery is already charged. Then reboot and let it run its course. Then fully charge again.
Alternatively - you can download current widget to monitor your battery and also see how much current it is drawing and know when it is fully charged. Even tho your LED is green and battery shows full, it will.still.draw current gradually for up to an hour or so. Very nifty .... Hope it helps!
And a search for these topics will.probably yield much more in depth info....

Did this problem exist on stock ROM?

I seem to have reset my battery on my own as far as I can tell. I basically did the process you described just without knowing.
This problem did also occur on stock rom. It hasn't happened in the past week, so I think it's fine. I may reflash my rom and kernel soon for good measure.
Also sorry for not replying I've been away from civilization for almost a week.

uh oh this is how my problem started.
I hope my problem doesn't turn into that. It seems fine now it hasn't done it in a while

[Q] ICS Battery Alert

Since performing the ICS ota, I have been getting random alert where a large (2" x 1") battery icon displays in the middle of my screen for about two seconds. It emits a tone, then disappears.
Has anyone seen this?
Does anyone know how to disable this?
I've been getting the charging battery pop up when docking and plugging in the charger, but so far thats the only thing to cause it, its just a charging notification I think
I do not have a dock. This is driving me crazy. There doesn't seem to be any logic to it happening.
Its probably just a battery reminder, like when it gets to a certain level it reminds you so you can plan ahead if your away from a charger. I don't know this for sure but that would make sense! I don't see any option to turn it off, maybe in a future update or custom rom!

Here is the alert that I get. Completely random. Doesn't matter what app, battery level, etc.
Has anyone else seen this? HELP!
That icon appears when you plug the tablet in to the charger, it lets you know the battery level and it plays a chime. If it's not a software fault, might be something with the charging port. Maybe it's defective and it's detecting a charger plug that's not actually there?
Thanks. I think it has to be software related. It happens without anything plugged in. Frustrating! It also never happened on honeycomb.
battery icon screen
I see the same thing when I plug in to charge.I have it plugged into the wall first then plug into transformer.I think it is just letting you know it is charging because I don't have it powered down.

The problem is that I do not have the charger plugged in when it happens.
charger icon
do you see it when plugging it in to docking station? my does for a sec when i link the keyboard to the tablet but go away ..because the docking station starts charging the tablet.
I can confirm I also get this. It really is annoying and random. I'm yet to find a pattern to it.
The tablet is not on charge. It is not docked. Just the tablet.
Current battery level is 73% and the battery icon has flashed twice whilst writing this. There are different icons signifying different battery levels. Full, mostly full, nearly empty and running low... I've seen them all.
Does anyone know of a setting that would stop these alerts?

Battery temperature too low

I have a SM-907A that stopped charging. I researched and got replacement charging port cables because that seemed like the most likely issue. That didn't fix the issue, so I replaced the battery. The tablet now powers up, but when I try to charge the tablet I get and error that charging has stopped due to the battery temperature being too low. Researching that issue for Android led back to the charging port cable being an issue. I bought a total of 4 cables and have tried them all without success. I even reset the factory data back to the original stock. This has never been rooted and I am at a loss for what to try next. I would appreciate any suggestions to fix this.
Probably the battery connector problem. Lots of posts about that issue on this forum and other tablet forums for this tablet.
