[Q] SupeAosp 6.2 - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i love the rom ive checked everything i can think of i can see the boot animation and boot sound file in system and its checked in spare parts but still at boot no start up sound the first time i installed the Rom the installation mp3 played but nothing after that anyone know why? Ive also tried re-flashing after re-downloading the rom just in case it got corrupted but still no luck

did you do a full Wipe after you installed the ROM?
you need to wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
6.4 is out, try that one, and do the full wipe after the install

[Q] Boot loop?

Well i have been using the cm7 nightlies with no problem. Today i decided to flash the RC1 since im sick of having to flash everyday. So i flashed the rom with rom manager and my phone was stuck in a boot loop.
So i had to do a battery pull and then restore the rom i had just backed up. After restoring i reboot the phone and am stuck in a boot loop again. I did another battery pull did a full data wipe, wiped cache and dalvik cache. And reinstalled the nightly 41 and am no longer in a boot loop.
So i tried to install RC1 again and everything was fine after flashing rom and gapps. i thought everything was fine so i rebooted into recovery to flash the 1.2.2 BFS Netarchy kernel. Before flashing i wiped cache, and dalvik cache. And of course now im stuck into a boot loop again. Has anyone else experienced this problem? i believe i am doing everything right. This is the first time i have ever experienced this problem.

try flashing the kernel without wiping the dalvik or cache.
personal, i dont use or recommend using rom manager, as it creates issues of its own. i download everything myself and flash in recovery without rom managers aid.
I'm trying that now. Thanks for the quick reply. I have even tried installing the rom without using rom manager and it still did the same thing to me. Hopefully this works.

NO!!!!!!!! Can not mount Cache error in CWM...

Flash back.... This is the Glacier CWM thread
I had this issue twice with my Glacier twice...and after flashing a radio on my Sensation in preperation for CoreDroid 2.0 I got the issue on my Sensation....... :'(
I checked the MD5 sum on the radio I flashed form this thread. I flashed the last "latest" radio (10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01.) The first download seemed pretty quick for a radio so I downloaded it again, second download was just as fast. The MD5 on both was fine so I decided to go ahead with the flash of the radio. So this is the order I did things:
1. Full wipe with CD's full wipe zip
2. Flashed Radio
3. Rebooted into CWM to flash CD and my battery modification and that is when I was greeted with the error...
4. Flashed the full wipe again and when it got to Formatting Cache it said Cache was unmounted.
5. Flashed CD Rom
6. Flashed my battery mod
7. Rebooted
So here is the good news, my phone booted up completely and hasn't shown any type of issues yet. Last time I got this issue on my Glacier and actually got it to boot all I got was FC after FC after FC regardless of Fixing permissions. So far no FC's since this booted.
Now for the details of my set up, I have a T-Mo Sensation was running CD 1.4 at the time of the issue, with CWM 4.0.1.4 that to me appears to be BLUE. This is the CWM that Revolutionary flashed for me I never changed it as I was hearing bad things about doing so.
I rebooted into CWM and the error has not showed up again and that makes me happy but scared that I have a ticking time bomb on my hands... So what do we do from here?
Format the cache and dalvik cache in recovery, and it should fix it. I had it after flashing ENG bootloader. Wiping the cache fixes it. Or it should.

Yeah its gone now but when I do the full wipe zip that comes with CoreDroid it still says skipping cache because cache is unmounted. I never noticed it say that before, maybe it has and I never saw it till now due to being worried and thus watching everything from start to finish lol

CM10 Infinite Boot Animation

Hey guys I am running into a problem after I flash CM10 to my GSIII, It flashes fine (rooted, unlocked bootloader, using CWM) up until I try to boot at which it gets stuck on the boot animation where it just runs for what i assume to be forever, I gave up after 10 min the 3 times I tried. Is anyone else having this problem or have any idea how to fix it.
Thanks in advance
I would try two things, first be sure you cleared everything (dalvik cache, factory reset, clear cache) in CWM, and if you're still having problems try the "fix permissions" option in CWM.
happened to me earlier, I wiped cache, dalvik, factory reset, and flashed again, and it worked
LKJ
Derp, it was the factory reset, i had always been clearing the catches so i dont know why it didnt occur to me to do the reset, but thanks a bunch guys

You can't just restore the data that's the same thing as not factory resetting because all you're really doing is wrong the data and then putting it right back on.
You need to use something like titanium backup

[Q] Problem booting custom image [A510]

Hi, this is the first android device I have played with so naturally I managed to mess it up.
The problem is with an Iconia A510, wrong forum but didnt find a Q&A for A510 so I tried here instead.
I rooted and installed CWM recovery. The custom firmware I have tried or stopped during boot and rebooted the device. Booted for 10-20 seconds, I see the animated logos before it reboots.
I upgrade with:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
advanced -> format /system
advanced -> format /data
advanced -> format /cache
install zip from sdcard -> external sdcard
Am I doing something wrong with the upgrade? Can I upgrade CWM from inside CWM so I can try the latest Android version? Is there a firmware version that will work?
Info:
Files from: acer shreps fr
CWM version: CWM Recovery v6.0.1.9 by NoThrills for A510 tablets. Apparently can try KitKat with it, so only tried older Android.
All installed OK but stopped during boot:

did you try to wipe data or/and dalvik cache after you installed the rom? (DONT WIPE SYSTEM!)
sometimes this will work for me.

Thanks for the tip. I tried wiping the usual suspects, flashing a CM rom and then flash data and dalvik cache. Same thing; started booting, the CM logo comes up and starts spinning before it freezes and reboots.
I'll play around a bit more. Tried the 'fix permissions' in CWM recovery, no go.
Solved it. Formatted everything except external_sdcard, flashed with AOKP and booted fine. Magic!
