[Q] Battery Temperature ?? - T-Mobile LG G2x

SO my g2x feels like it might be gettin a lil hot at times but I'm not too worried about that but i noticed in a lot of peoples screen shots of the battery info it's around 70-80 degrees but mines been at a constant 90 F since the 20th the day i got it . . is this cool or should i get a new one I'm hesitant because everything else is cool and i have 8 more days to decide to switch it out or not. . .thanks

Mine has been upwards of 110 and I've had major issues of it powering down while on the t-mobile charger. Way too hot for my liking. I'm not sure if it is the charger or the phone that's causing the power-down. The lg charger had only caused the phone to power off once. Anyone else with this issue. Sorry if this is addressed already. I'm new to the xda app and don't know how to expand the threads in a search.

[Q] battery overheating question

hey all, maybe its just my paranoid self, but i just want to be sure;
i was charging my phone, and at the same time, i was playing slice it. suddenly i realized that the back of the phone was getting really hot, and i checked the temperature. it was about 45c, and i was gettin freaked out, so i took the batttery and put in the fridge for like 10 seconds, before realizing that was a stupid mistake. after about 5 minutes, it cooled back down to 30.5c. i believe that perhaps the battery was around 45c for about a minute or so.
I was just wondering, do you think my battery life will suffer from my idiotic antics? Im a bit worried that itll have a significant impact, even if it was for a few minutes? Did i 'burn' out some of the lithium ion cells?
much help appreciated!
thanks alot!
Just curious, does only your battery get warm, or does the top half of the phone (above the battery) got hot too?
Phone only overheated when I had bluetooth and wifi running while charging

its just the back of the phone where the battery is located
Mine did the exact same thing last night with fruit ninja of all things. I also put my whole phone in the fridge for one minute and it dropped the battery temp from 45c to 38c. The battery condition also said "overheated" instead of "good" which it has said since then.

I don't think anyone really knows and begging for an answer is a quick way to get flamed.
I know that if you were to rapidly cool metal or another material in that same manner, it would crack. I don't know if that same issue would apply to batteries. I definitely wouldn't put anything overheated directly into a frozen environment like that.

Mine had the same problem. Whenever i put it on charge it would heat up within minutes and then upon unplugging it would cool down. I read somewhere in the forum to discharge completely and then recharge to full. I did that and its been 1 week since that and no problems with overheating and battery life is also improved. My battery`s health is still GOOD i checked using * # * # 4 6 3 6 # * # *
Hope this helps.
I undervolted the cpu. Overheating almoat stopped. I swapped battery and has been better since. Usually running two quadrants i would start feeling it get hotter and hotter. On new battery i run four an don't notice any major change.
G2x with CM7 and trinity kernel
out of the blue overheating
My phone was awesome...but now it overheats....??
I am going to try and undervolt and see if that helps my problems but my phone just goes crazy hot when it's asleep and idk what to do, even w/ a new warranty phone, and i could tell it's new cause it still had the green tap by the buttons and stuff...the old one got crazy hot, but only after cm7 build33....and this was also after i changed the recovery to 3101 ext4 supported one....can a recovery affect your roms (overheat it) i would't think so, it only loads on command idk how it would....hmmmmm my vibrant would be a dead cold 28-29c when on idle/sleep but w/ this phone it just gets hot and is about 37-43 when doing nothing.....i'm going to try the undervolt thing w/ cm7 latest build and faux123's kernel 0.1.1 and try to undervolt it, i'll search thru that thread for good undervolting starting points...and play w/ that......idk i'm just confused why it is just now happening and not before, i had it on launch day and no problems till last week....i'm lost..

Overheating

Seriously this overheating problem is getting pretty annoying. Phone overheats when I'm watching a movie, playing a game and charging. Phone actually went into safe mode a couple of times because of the overheating.
This has never happened to Mr and I watched 2 movies on the way to Paris today on auto brightness. Probably a hardware issue.

my phone hasn't done anything like that, but today when i was playing some gameloft game, my temp got to 48 Celsius...
My phone was getting hot the first few weeks, but lately it's been cooler.
Sent from my latest creation, Thanks Devs!
Do a factory reset, or check and see if you have a runaway app that is constantly making the processor run on Max. I had the same problem the first week and couldnt sstand it. Turns out widgetsoid and widgetlocker (or so I've heard) have this problem. Do a nandroid backup and factory reset. Worked well for me. Just for clarification my battery wasn't the issue, the phone would get hot right around the sim area underneath the camera. Hope this helps

Mine gets super hot only when I am using my gps with the screen on for over 30 minutes. And when I say super hot, I mean SUPER HOT! Like to a point where if I had it in my pocket it would irritate my skin. Do I hear a lawsuit? lol. j/k.
i have not experienced any of the above.
but today around 8ish am i will be taking off in a trip and the infuse will be my main GPS just for the fun of it.
i will check out these so called overheating issues.
Are you using a case?

Yes it gets hot the 1st week, when you buy a new phone you have to charge it for 12-15hrs even it indicate it is full and not charging.

No I am not using a case. And I'm not talking about only when I charge the phone. Its when I play a game for a few minutes or watch a movie for 10-20 minutes. And its the top portion of the phone. Its not coming from the battery.

I haven't seen any heat issues on this phone.
Trust me when I tell you that my Infuse has never noticeably changed temperature. I can say this with confidence because I switched from a Nexus One. The N1 has an aluminum body and any time you do absolutely anything with the charger plugged in or with the GPS on, the phone gets hot enough to make your hand feel sweaty. So this phone is a world of difference from that.
If your phone is over heating to the point of safe mode, you NEED to return it, it's a problem with the processor and it will only get worse....the heat comes directly from underneath the camera and led and has nothing to do with the battery

Mine only got super hot when I had gos on nav going and pluged into the car charger but it was also like 100 degrees outside lol just my input

If you have a new Infuse it is really hot on the first week, after 4 days to a week mine became normal. Max at 40 C

Your phone must be defective. I can play hours of hd games and never have any overheating issues. The back cover is cold for most of the time and even when charging and playing games it is barely warm.
So i went on my trip and im back. I am delighted with the way it performed.
didnt notice and heat issues tho..
I must have a defective phone then. This is really disappointing...

[Q] Is yours getting warm?

My sensation is getting warm @ the bottom while using (normal tasks: messaging, mail).
It's not hot it's slightly warm. Anyone else having this issue?
Yes, although it doesn't seem as bad today as it was yesterday.
apparently if you turn off Wifi, you problems will disappear! Lol. Joke.
Mine has only gotten warm never full blown hot. Usually cools right back down. I figure it was just the dual-core working .

Mine gets a bit warm during moderate/heavy usage but I would say it's normal..
yeah, i was about to post.
Mine is very warm, as soon as i use it, it begins to heat, up to 109°f (43°C) when i use internet.
Using only mobo player, it's a stable 103°F (39.5 C)
it's very hot, i do not understand.
I stopped a lot of background sync, no difference...
any idea?
edit: btw, big battery consomption...

I would call for a replacement battery if it's that bad.
I haven't had any issues...though keep in mind I'm coming from a G2X that would burn my hand off.

My Sensation has been running very hot right out of the box. I have had it for a little more than 26 hours and it concerns me how hot it actuallly runs. Also just a few minutes ago I started getting a notice that the device had reset in an improper manner and asked if I wanted to report it to HTC. This has come up twice in the last 2 hours. I had the device setting on a table in a restaurant and thought i heard it do something now I know it was rebooting itself. The very high temps continue. I have a G2x and have not had all the issues other are reporting although it does get a little warm 96 degrees at times. I am at the point where I am going to take the Sensation back and wait for a short time and see if more kinks are worked out. The Sensation is a marvelous phone and will be almost untouchable if there are a few software updates to fix issues. Just do not want to wait like I have and did with the G2x and try to put up with overheating etc. I do really like the Sensation though.

How hot gets your battery?

Mine, after about 25 mins of use - gaming and surfing on the net - reaches 44 degrees celcius and bottom of the phone gets really hot.
This happens in normal use not while charging.
Is this normal?
What temps do you get?
Also I am experiencing signal drops for the gsm network, but I do not think this is related to heat issue.

Same here, it gets too hot to comfortably handle. Tmo is sending me another as soon as they get them in.

Doesn't get that hot for me with hours of use gaming, surfing, playing music, etc. But yesterday when streaming music via 4G, charging in the car in the sunlight (N1 dock power cord), without the ac on on a 90 degree Fahrenheit day the thing was easily 100 degrees F. Hope it's just an issue with the charging cable and heat of the day combining.
mine has reached 113 degrees F just from playing peggle for around 20 mins...
Around 87F on average usage unplugged...
got to 110 degrees playing Cut the Rope
Mine reached 50°C while charging and an active app that kept the screen on. Outside felt cooking hot when I picked it up.
Mine got to 113 deg after only 10 min of playing fast five...really worries me as this is my second unit, first one was perfect built, no batt issue bt the power button was crooked than a MOFO lol..if this continues i mite return this one too, bt then I worry about getting another unit that has another issue...its like u can't win with this things

My wife's got hot enough today to shut down while she was using it.
I'll be playing with it tonight for a while and see if it was a one time deal, mine doesn't have that problem at all.

your new phone doesnt have the crooked power button? i thought everybody had that
Had a file transfer going while playing some games - ended up at around 50c with the bottom of the phone extremely hot.
When i stopped things and tried a reboot - phone went into a reboot loop - so went to pull out battery to hard reboot. With cover off -- very hot - not just battery but area with SD card / SIM is too hot to hold.
It would definitely burn my fingers if I tried to hold there.
Dammit, mine is also getting pretty hot. I wasn't even playing games on it when I noticed how hot it was getting. I was showing my family a few pictures on it, and in 5 minutes the lower part of the phone became really hot. Never had that happen with any other phone before. Hmm...

haha i thought the same too until someone posted a pic of their "normal" one and i was like hell nah, im returning mine for a diff one, which now has a perfectly level power button...problem is though that first one had no problems and the batt never got hot. this second one's issue is the batt gets really hot after a few minutes of usage in which the phone gets uncomfortable to even handle.

[Q] HTC sensation Overheating issue

Hello I ve seen some threads concerning this issue already but I couldnt get clear idea of the allowed temp of the sensation, some people said anything above 40 is dangerous and should return the phone, some said above 50 and while other said above 60....I get around 34~37 on average and have seen 45 with GPS, web browsing, games..is this normal? and does putting the sensation in a case bad for overheating problem? I use the case mate..maybe it traps heat slowing down the cooling...
I don't know about the actual temperature but I do agree that something is wrong. Yesterday I was charging my phone in the car while using Nav and I had the screen set at full brightness. The phone got extremely hot and the screen automatically lowered it's brightness to the lowest setting. I'm not sure if the heat built up is coming from the backlight, or the battery or what. I was thinking about returning mine, but from the sounds of it they are all having this issue.
My build date is 6/2/11. Can anyone confirm if the newer builds still have this issue?
hmm the temperature has to do with the battery I am going to see if I could get my battery replaced and see if anything changes...

well from my experiences with battery that they do get warm when you are charging them, i have tested my phone when charging and it does get warm but playing games and everything else i dont feel anything that crazy.
which model are you taking about the 4G or non 4G??
Mine does not get hot from charging, it gets hot from playing games..that when my phone gets over 40...and my phone is T-mobile 4g
ive caught mr sensation getting as high as of 47 in a hot car hooked up to my car stereo playing Slacker Radio for 30 minutes. It burnt my hands holding it and one time i was wearing my thin shorts and i accidently left slacker radio on ( most used app ) and it actually left a red outline of the phone on my leg!
I noticed overheating issue specially whenever brightness set to higher. Even automatic mode heat is there. I wrote to HTC customer service, they replied, it's normal !!!

hopefully they can fix this.
From my experience all recent smartphones get hot charging them with the screen on for extended periods...mine also gets quite hot after a while but its not an issue as far as I'm concerned.

Haven't noticed any very hot issues with the Sensation since I bought it June 17th.
