[Q] which tablet regarding custom roms - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

hi!
i own a htc desire and i'm very happy with the enormous range of custom roms for it. now i'd like to get myself a honeycomb tablet and was wondering which model (xoom, flyer, galaxy, iconia, ...) might have the biggest developer community.
thanks,

[Q] Tablet Help!

Hi all XDA'rs,
Im looking to purchase my first android tablet but would like some help from my fellow forum users.
Im looking to spend a max of £150.
I have no definite requirements other than it have reasonable processor and ram(not lag) and be very customisable e.g themes, custom roms etc,
Can anyone point me towards some good deals??
Much appreciated,
Daniel Lowery
Bump! Bump! Bump!
there's really nothing any good under $200.
Cheapest tablets that aren't a POC are the IdeaPad A1 (Lenovo) and the Nook Color. Both are 7", medium-powered, but capable of running flash, ect jsut fine. Nook color does REQUIRE rooting/ROMing to be useful, but its really easy to do, pretty fun actually, and you can get a beautiful cyanogenmod for it. A1 is harder to find, but has dual cameras, GPS, better out-of-the-box functionality.
Expect to pay at least a hundred more for a 10".something like this

[XOOM 2][Advice] Is the Xoom 2/Xyboard interesting ?

Hello everyone,
I'm currently thinking about buying a new tablet (I've already tried the first galaxy tab and the transformer) and I found a nice deal (in France) for the Xoom 2 Media Edition.
Would you recommend the media edition for 265$ (in fact it's 265€ but since 1$=1€ for all the manufacturers...) ? I mean I know the xoom 2 is not a big improvement upon the first version but do you think this is a good deal ?
Also it doesn't seem that the community is interested in the xoom 2. I fear that there won't be any custom rom or any other work done on this table. Am I correct ?
Thanks for your responses !
The problem is that it doesn't appear to be unlockable and rootable at this time, so no development. If you don't care about that, go for it. If you want to tinker and customize, get an original Xoom. ICS (Android 4.0.3) builds are already here! Awesome!

[Q] Tablets: Xoom or Galaxy 10.1 .. recommendations?

I´m looking to buy either a Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 , or a motorola xoom, and would appreciate any advice or recommendations from owners of either of these.
A few things i do like about the xoom are..
Xoom has micro usb (is this useful ?), and also has SD slot for extra memory (i quite like this), and stock android OS
I´m not so concerned about the weight aspects, its more about flexibility for updates, perhaps custom rom & rooting. and general performance.
if anyone has any recommendations, i´d be very grateful

[Q] Jetstream hope

Has anyone developed a rom for the Jetstream after Honeycomb ? I am not a developer but quite technical and whilst my jetstream does the job of a tablet, ICS or Jellybean on it would be fantastic.
Does anyone think that this hope can be reality soon ?

Tablet custom Roms

Hi there,
I noticed that there isn't as much activity for custom Roms for tablets as there are for smartphones. I wonder why. Is it because there aren't as many tablets as smartphones and therefore there is less interest in building custom roms?
I wanted to buy a tablet for my mother ( Chuwi HiPad Max) and noticed that the manufacturer doesn't have a good reputation for updating their devices (just few security patches and that's it), so I looked here on XDA with the hope of some custom roms but couldn't find any (not only for this device which is fairly new, but for most tablets even of other brands).
Should I buy a specific tablet (not more expensive than 200€/$) that is known to have more roms? Do you have any recommendation? The tablet will be used for watching Netflix/Prime Videos/YouTube, emailing and internet surfing.
Thank you
Purchase the 8-inch Amazon Fire HD 10 ( 2021 ) tablet ( cheapest one ) or the 10-inch Lenovo Smart Tab P10 tablet: you can get both on Amazon.

Custom rom development is based on people using the tablet and being interested in making other custom roms for their tablet. Either those who are developers don't have a need for a tablet or there are developers without an incentive (money) to develop a custom rom. Developing a custom rom takes time, even months. Why should someone invest months without pay? Thus the lack of custom roms. Now you could try your luck with generic system images. Those are kind of a custom rom. Made to run on an unlimited number of devices, smartphones and tablets included.
