Hey everyone,
I have downloaded the ADB driver, the downgrade file and the stock 1.32 PD98IMG.zip . I've copied the Stock 1.32 zip file to my SD card and didn't put it in a folder. I've opened the cmd window and navigated to the downgrade file and had all commands written succesfully their and I've got the final # and typed the final 2 commands.
The problem is when I reboot my phone with volume held down. It opens the bootloader and then it says that an img is not available or wrong, then it continues to update and eventually says update has failed !
Where did I go wrong ? What do I need to do to correct it ?
My phone's Software is as follows :
Android version : 2.2.1
Baseband version : 12.28g.60140fU_26.05.27_M3
Kernel version : 2.6.32.21-g46445e7
Build Number : 1.84.720.3
Software Number : 1.84.720.3
Browser : WebKit 3.1

did you have problems with getting the # symbol? I only get failed to set prot mask
I think you cannot downgrade with this version (YET ANYWAY!!!! )
I have not heard any news about a downgrade from 1.84.720.3!!!!
So i think you maybe out of luck or you will just have to keep searching for a downgrade answer or just wait untill someone cracks it?

I have exactly the same problem with my HTC Desire Z when trying to downgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.2 .. i am disappointed that no one has a good answer to this problem..

Im new to this all this, i purchased a HTC Legend about 6 months ago and happy with it but at times it can lag so wanted to root it and put a different ROM on it, for about 2 weeks almost every night i have tried to root my phone but cannot do it!!!

I have downloaded the ADB files and various other files and loaded up cmd and and followed all instructions from various websites that said they work for my phone, im sure i have created a successful goldcard, i have used x2 2gb sandisk microsd cards and x1 6gb sandisk and also my 8gb sandisk and for some reason im still stuck on downgrading, i have followed a few sites on goldcards but all dont work for me, i can temp root and get permission rights on cmd but then run RUU and i get a 131 error which what ive read is something to do with the goldcard, is this my issue or is my phone one of the ones that cant be rooted if someone could reply to my post asap please i would be really happy .

also is there a file out there that i can put on the sd card and boot it in recovery mode, seen one on another site for the nexus one, all i want to do is load CM7, whats the easiest way to do this??

i have followed all instructions again and still wont downgrade, im on the RUU and getting a 131 error, according to some forums that error code means i havent created a correct goldcard, i have used goldcard tool and also followed theunlocker website and used hexeditor and re done the RUU and still no joy, anyone got any ideas to help me please?????

not i tries the RUU Updater "RUU_Chacha_HTC_Europe_1.33.401.1_Radio_47.17.35.3033H_7.48.35.14_2_release_204385_signed.exe" but it didn't work ... got an Error Code 131 i think .... something didn't match ... "wrong ruu updater" or something ... don't know what to do, to get a newer Firmware now?!
With s-on all you can do is to update your rom to 1.33
If you are windows user - it's quiet easy. You have to prepare gold card. You'll find info on xda and google how to do that. Than just run RUU, and software should be updated in a while. Then you can get TempRoot. What it does and more importantly what it does NOT is all written in TempRoot topic.
If you want to install higher updates/custom roms and use Apps2SD (I'm sure you would like to do that, as after some days of using stock chacha you'll run out of mem), you will have to get s-off.
By now the only possibility is to use XTC-clip. You can either buy one or find phone service that has it and will do it for you for some small charge. Here in Poland it was 10E for me. When you get s-off you can install CWM recovery, and then do anything you like. You can install CM7, other roms, gain permroot etc etc

but how can i install the OTA Air Update from 1.33 to 1.52?
i downloaded the zip file from the "everything for chacha thread", renamed it to PH06IMG.zip and put it in the root-folder and launched the bootloader but nothing happend ...?!

i tried to rename it to update.zip and use the "recovery" tool and press vol-up and home at the screen with the red "!"
i get to a blue screen with yellow text and i choose "apply update from sd.card" but then i get "invalid operation" and the phone reboots ...
and i get the message: E: can't open /cache/recovery/command ??
i tried all options in the recovery-menu and i don't know how to go on?!

I am tempted not to upgrade so I don't get into trouble rooting.
I wanted to wait to make sure there is root available before upgrading it.

it's not the easiest guide, but it works from my experience.

tried many tools, seems new HTC official 2.3.5 with sense 3.0 is patched against all available rooting methods, should wait a bit longer for a new tool to root
although there are some "HTC stock 2.3.5" that are rooted, but it requires removing the original os and replacing this one, such as:

After a lot of reading and searching and trying I managed too achieve root last night on my Desire hd running 2.3.5 using the Ace Advanced Hack Tool. It took a few attempts for the phone to accept the downgrade. I had to run the hack tool several times to achieve this. In the end as the effin manual says I had to turn off all anti virus and close non essential programs. I also removed any anti virus apps from my phone. I don't know if it was coincidence or not but I was about to give up and had unplugged the USB cable and was in the bootloader menu about to reboot when all of a sudden it read the zip file on the SD card and downgraded the ROM. After that ran the Hack tool again and Now rooted, S off and Custom ROM (CM7) installed. One other quick thing, after installing CM7 on boot up it went into a boot loop. After searching found out you have to clear/reset factory settings and clear cache in custom recovery before flashing a new ROM. Hope this helps.
edit - forgot to mention I had the bootloader unlocked from HTCdev site but re locked it just before the downgrade started working.

People it really works flawlessly...; just re-lock your bootloader if unlocked from HTCdev.com and use an empty, clean sd card... andof course read all the manual. Then you can let show begin They did such a BIG AND PERFECT work! i'm Amazed and impressed! thank's a lot people who made this possible.
some help needed to root, downgrade and then flash HTCDesireHD
hi guys - I am having incredible difficulty with this phone. I have rooted and flashed samsung galaxy and huawei mobiles in the past so im not totally oblivious. this STILL is not working..i am trying to use the AAHK kit
i have read the manual
i am now using a computer that has nothing but winXPpro and the htc drivers installed that came from the AAHK, no anti virus, no anti-malware, no apple sh*t, NOTHING ELSE
all i can think of is that my phone IS running one of the build versions that requires a downgrade as mentioned in the manual (details listed in my original post)
or
i DO have a HTC Dev Bootloader and its not locked as mentioned in the manual
i know nothing about locking or unlocking bootloaders, but Ive been to HTCDev, registered, logged in and tried to follow that process as follows:
i select my phone HTC DESIRE HD* (there is an asterix because "* Indicates HBOOT update required.")
continue through disclaimer and agree etc
download PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029.exe
when i run PD9810000_Ace_Sense30_S_hboot_2.00.0029.exe i get error saying i need to upgrade to 3.13.707.3 (On your phone, go to Menu>Settings>About phone> Software updates> CCheck now.
After you have updated,please run the RUU again to upgrade your HBOOT to unlock

I search alot but every time save the update file in SD card and run it from the recovery menu some error used to appear. How after alot of search on the internet i found one update file which was from GRH78 (Android 2.3.1) to GRH78C (Android 2.3.2). This upgrade was successful.
But now again i am searching for the upgrade file to update my phone to Android 4.0.4 . I found update file from GRH78c to latest build but none of them is working on my phone.
My phone is currently with the following upgrade version. Plz see this and help me in it. I will be very much thankful to you all out there.

Is it unlocked? Rooted?
Yes, your device is completely capable of flashing and upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) and even Jelly Bean (4.1.2).
While there are two ways to do that but since you already mentioned that you want to use Custom ROMs available on net, then this guide is the solution to it.
It will help you unlock your bootloader and Install a custom Recovery which in turn will enable you to flash custom ROMs on your device.
You can choose a Custom ROM which meets your requirements available here in Nexus S Android Development Section.

All I want to do is update my developer's device to 4.2.2 sense 5. Official or unofficial, but a complete build and not a 'nightly'.

A friend has been helping me some otas to put into the root folder:

I can't copy the last file on to the root. Error message: The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected. (!!??)
Of course I've done a whole lot of unplugging/plugging, restarting, checking drivers and all the usual stuff, but the file won't copy.
My questions are:
Can anyone supply me with a straight-up RUU for 4.2.2 sense 5 for my device?
or
Can anyone tell me what i'm doing wrong with copying the last OTA file to the device
or
Can anyone supply me with a different OTA to try?
Any other suggestions?
