I have had my g2x for two days and I'm having data issues and cant send or receive text messages.
Since I have rooted my phone and removed some bloatware, what steps do I need up take to send it back for an exchange or refund?

Just do a factory reset before you send it back.

I would imagine you should unroot it and than do factory restore.(Hold down volume down + Power button until you see the little green android with a box on top of him. This will do a factory reset. I am to receive a replacement tomorrow and I have unrooted and done a factory reset. I find I still have busybox on the phone(even though I am unrooted) and am attempting to remove it as well.

A noob in need of help...
Coming from 2.3.5 rooted then updated to 2.3.6, lost root then rooted again... After the 2.3.6 update my screen back light would not respond or turn on and off in low light or dark rooms. I have to turn the room light on then press the unlock button to wake the phone. At times it responds quick to the light, most of the time i have to try multiple times. In sunlight this rarely happens! So I installed the supercharged ROM v5 hoping it would correct this and it continues to happen. Please help!
Also after installing supercharged ROM v5 and the update I stopped receiving text messages. I can send and they receive my message but I do not receive theirs. I noticed under settings/about/status that my phone number doesn't show anymore.
Edit: Well I see my number is back in setting/about/status... My problems are still going, but after turning my phone on this morning 1 text came in... i let the phone load up and had somebody text it and i received nothing!
Is there a way to check my text messaging settings for Att?
Im trying to avoid calling them...

Hello all,
I have a Sprint Nexus 5 on v4.4.2, the version that was supposed to fix the persistant voicemail icon. Well, I still have the VM icon even after the update. If I clear the Phone App data the icon will go away for 30 mins to an hour then it will come right back up. Has anyone had any luck with this? I am using the stock VM, not google voice, and I do not wish to use google voice.
Thanks

Supposedly, this update fixed the voicemail but that was a trecherous lie. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...-to-kot49h-today-but-what-happened-to-kot49e/
Two options at this point in time:
1) Get Cyanogenmod 11 M2 (or nightlies), this will allow you to swipe dismiss the notification. Another option is to take out the /system/app/phone.apk from the CM11 M2 ROM and put it in your stock ROM to get the swipe dismiss.
2) Hold down the VM notification and goto App Info and force close. (dont need to delete data nedjo67)
It will stay at 2 messages at any time. It basically is broken. You can use google voice to get REAL notifications that actually work but it will still show the broken voice mail notification.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon. I complained about this a while ago but Sprint does not think its a priority? Best place to get Sprint to fix it is to go on twitter and tell @sprintcare about your problem. Also make sure you tell @sprintcare that you are on the newest update or they will recommend you upgrade (not an actually solution for us, duh). The more people to harass @sprintcare, the better.
Thanks for the help. I thought it was weird it was stuck at 2 VMs. I will tweet the Sprint team and hold my breath (not).
Thanks again.

I cannot seem to find a rom that doesn't alert me of fictitious voicemails. I have zero messages and get it won't go away. I have tried stopping the phone process and that does clear the notification but only for 30 seconds or so. Its quite annoying. Does anyone on sprint know of or is currently running a rom that doesn't do this?

I'm on sprint and I have not gotten one system alert for voicemails. When I get a voicemail I get a blank text message from a 4 digit number. Is that way on stock and every rom ive tried.

same here. having to use youmail for now
Really? Its been a problem for me since day 1..... Odd that you would have a different voicemail issue. Here's a screenshot. It never goes away.

I've actually never even seen the notification for voicemail on the 3 nexus5s I've used. First was defective second I broke 3rd still the same. Voicemail just sends me a blank text. Can't remember if I've actually even set up my voicemail, It might still be at all defaults with no greeting and just my number. I've read of several people with the same problems so i haven't messed with mine cause i like it how it is.

I have had the M8 since release and I've always had the issue of no new notification, if I receive a text while the screen is on and I'm still in the current conversation. Example: I'll text someone back, put the phone down without turning the screen off but don't check it unless I hear the notification go off. I'll get a new text but I won't receive a notification (vibrate, ringer or LED).
I've tried 8SMS and Hangouts and the issue is still there. I've tried to search for any solutions but nothing has pointed me to a similar thread (could be keywords I'm using). For now, I try to hit the home button when I'm finished sending my text in hopes I would get the notification.
Can somebody point me to a fix or suggest a fix? I'm rooted and s-off'd but running stock ROM.

By any chance. Do you use sms backup and restore? I know that when I use it, that specific app forces me to set the restore app as my default sms app and I don't get any text notifications.

I used it originally to transfer texts over but I use SMS Backup+ daily to auto back to my Gmail account.
I get notifications but if I receive texts after I text someone without hitting the home button, I don't receive a notification.

Has anyone experienced this:
I left work today and started listening to some music from the GPMAA app with my earbuds. I was scrolling through some social media and after liking and commenting on some posts, I tapped the power button and put the phone back in my pocket. All of a sudden the music stops and when I look at the screen there's a phone looking icon with 2 arrows going in a circle clockwise. When the phone finally rebooted it was factory reset and everything was deleted from internal/external storage.
I'm kind of ticked off that all of my photos are gone and I have to re-install all my apps and re-setup everything.
other details:
Had weaksauce installed/rooted but no supersu/superuser installed. Stock ROM/S-ON. FoxFi installed with that certificate. Also been getting some bug report messages recently where it wanted to send it as an attachment. Couldn't make heads/tails from all that code.
Haven't experienced a factory reset but I do get bug reports every so often. It wants to send them but where and who idk? I have to provide that info so I never know what to do with it.

Yeah, and when I choose Gmail to send it, it puts my same email address to send it to. :cyclops:

Did your foxfi app force you to use a lock screen with a pin or pattern because Verizon forces a wipe on ten failed attempts. Pocket wipes can occur thanks to this.

Yes, set up a pattern. I know that I did not fail that many times. Maybe it did in my pocket. You're probably right. Thanks for your response, this makes sense.

If you are rooted you can eliminate this wipe "feature". Setup Google plus photos to back up your pics to the cloud and use HTC backup app to backup the rest. Sorry to hear you got stung man..

Thanks. Fortunately I did have the auto backup but set it to the lower resolution option for unlimited backup.

What email address are they trying to send to? It's not uncommon for app developers to use your email to send bug reports.
Drop box is all through that bug report so my guess is something drop box app related is getting caught...

From what I can remember, the to field didn't have an email address so just sent it to myself. And then another time I sent it to my GDrive.
Welp now that it factory set, we'll see if I still get those bug reports.
