[Q] For all of you who have the Transformer.. - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everybody,
Been lurking the forums for days now and am anticipating as much as you guys (believe me, my F5 button is worn out).
Question for everybody who has a transformer:
When you have a USB (external) mouse connected, can you click AND drag text (in the browser/MS Word/etc), or does it behave as if you are using the trackpad?
This isn't a deal breaker at all, just curious as that I can't find the answer to this anywhere (unless they are hiding it in the reviews).

to select text, you click a single worth and it highlights that word. Around the highlighted word are two draggable lines. You then drag those further to highlight more or less.
I believe I saw it on a video review

What device you use, be it a mouse, a trackpad, joystick or Harry Potter magic wand, it will not change the way android 3.0 works. Well maybe the wand can, but honeycomb does not allow dragging text..

And besides, none of us have the dock yet so no USB ports....

[REQ] New MorphGear Snes Gamepad

Well i currently have MorphGear up and running flawlessly on my HD2.. which is a dream come true because i open up that program and play the classics whenever i get the chance... My only problem with this is the fact that we do not have a physical keyboard....
Now there are snes gamepads floating around these forums.. and they are great! but i think that development has died because it seems no one wants to try and improve on the gamepad...
I'm not sure why no one else has brought this up.. but the abxy buttons on the snes gamepad is just too close together... it causes incorrect input every now and then.. and that can severely impact gameplay....
As i was looking around this forum i came across this from a blackbird user i believe... its attatched at the bottom.. but either way.. notice how he tried seperating the buttons from each other to create more indivual space for each button?? Now that is the right idea.. i've been trying to find any updates on it.. but it appears that development on this has also died...
I'm wondering how hard would it be.. to take what wedge orriginally wanted to do (move "a" button down just slightly.. and move the "y" down and to the left) and create this gamepad for the hd2? it seems as if you would have almost everything you need... just minor tweaks to someone who actually knows what he/she is doing... (not me by any means.. although i wish.. ) it doesn't need to be his exact skin.. it can be on any snes skin or whatever.. i'm just saying that there should be MORE space in between the buttons and that would make a touch screen base controller work just as good as a physical keyboard....
yea.. hope someone takes interest in this and understands that this would be a great addition to the hd2 users who enjoy morphgear....

Hi, have a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658257
The morphgear gamepad linked by Hojlind is the best one for the HD2! Also check out LMTs builtin gamepad which supports multitouch and is compatible with morphgear and FPSEce! It also works in landscape mode.
lol... sorry i should've made it more clear.... either that or you should've read a little thoroughly lol... either way.. i have tried that rom... and lmt holds no interest to me... i'm simply looking for a gamepad that has room for the button individual area.. to avoid input error

"to avoid input error" You won't archive that with "more room for the buttons". Do you now the shadowing effect/auto alignment problem from LEO's touch hw? This is the cause why the gamepad you've metioned is not working properly. Hojlind's gamepad hides the hw problem with good positioned buttons and LMTs gamepad has a buitlin software filter to archive the best gamepad behavior. Try it and you'll see the difference...
Am i getting it right, when i say that all you want is some space between the buttons?

As for me, I think LMTs gamepad has a (short) delay between the press and the reaction of the character, that's quite annoying....

Really? I tested the gamepad again with morphgear and FPSEce: No delay compared to the buitin gamepads. Did you measure it or is it only your feeling?

[REQ] Tweaks to remove Arrow Keys from Keyboard

Hi guys, I am not sure if many of you have this problem, but the arrow keys on the bottom row is really a pain, as it is just below the space bar.
More often than not, when I try to tap the space bar, I tend to accidentally hit the arrow keys below it, causing T9 to change to an alternate word.
This has been very annoying to me. I have done some search and found quite a few complains from the others as well regarding this issue.
I personally find no use for the keys to be there. and I believe same goes to most of you HD2 users.
Can I please ask for some help from the expert around to create a tweak or maybe some step by step guide to remove the arrow keys from the bottom row of the keyboard, making the keyboard shorter.
This is something that I believe will help many of us out there. thanks for viewing.
Your help will be appreciated!
PS: I have tried finger keyboard, but it still have the arrow keys, and i am having some problem with the suggesting contact names. I really hope some one could just remove the arrow keys from the original keyboard, as it is really good aside from the arrow keys being there. Thanks Again!

Maybe something like the HD Mini, it has a button to switch between having the arrows and disabling them.

This would have the added bonus of freeing up more screen real estate. Or bigger buttons would be nice.
I would also love to see this happen.
The simple solution is for some third-party developer to design an alternative VK that finally utilizes the upgraded screen real-estate.
Android has tons of different keyboard layouts... developers just need to jump on-board with Windows Mobile.

I hate the arrows as well... We need a project to start working on this
Hi me again. So has any expert programmer out there could please please help us out???
any guidelines would be good. Thanks!!
Search for Nikoan89 wvga keyboard v2.2. That has the function with arrows you want.. Its an old feature btw..
Correction. version 1 see to be better... Pressthe arrow button and magic happen on top of the kb..
Hi, Nikoan keyboard seems to be ideal, however after installing his WVGA cab, my HD2 wouldnt boot and was always stuck at the white screen with the HTC words. At 1 point I tot i have bricked my phone... coz i wasnt able to sync and re flash my rom. However i got it fixed in the end.
i too am looking for something like this as well as modifying the landscape SIP to put the cursor keys on the left side of the KB.
why?
cuz i have small hands/thumbs. if the cursors were on the left, there would be equal reach to the keyboard on both sides, unlike now where the right side is twice the length than the left due to the strip of hardware keys adding to the length of reach.
if someone could reorganize the stock (HTC) keyboard cursors:
1. in portrait: remove the row of cursors or place them along the TOP edge of the keyboard.
2. in landscape: move the column of cursors from the right to the left of the keyboard.
SPB and Resco charge $20-25 for their keyboard solutions. after trying both, i think they both suck and i'm glad i trialed them first.
therefore, i'm willing to pay/donate $25 to the first person who can meet both of my requested modifications without bugs.
I personally prefer those arrow keys to be there. Only because I find it annoying that when I type, and make a mistake, putting my blinking cursor-line right after the mistake only to hit backspace to delete the mistake, is annoying.
I just typed a mu|stake. ARGH! (Must put cursor between U and S in order to edit it. - Always a hit/miss)
Any tips?

Gesture Input Method / Keyboard

I've done a cursory search looking for something like this but have been unable to find something...
Does anyone know if there is an app/keyboard replacement which has a screen much like the gesture search screen, allowing a person to draw individual letters and have them placed into the input box? Yes, it has shades of Graffiti (from the-company-which-shall-not-be-named), but would make typing while the unit is in a car dock, or just when standard keyboards are a pain in the ass, much easier.
I can't believe something doesn't already exist, so I turn to all of you.
Help me, XDA, you're my only hope.
+++++++++++
N1, CM6

Well, it would appear something kind of comes close ... graffiti or stroke keyboard work, tiny input area. But MobileWriter looks to be very much along the lines of what I had envisioned, but does anyone know of something with the same sized writing area which doesn't cost 5 bucks?
I'll get mobilewriter if nothing turns up, but hey...free is cheaper than 5
Thanks!
Graffiti has been ported to Android. Search for it in the Market.
The input box is still quite small. I'm thinking of something where one could essentially be inputting with one hand (using the thumb of the hand holding the device) without even needing to look at it, so a large forgiving graffiti area would be best. Thanks for the tip though.

[Q] Keyboard use/demo videos?

I know no one has the keyboard yet, but does anyone have links to videos that show how the touchpad/dpad works?
Specifically I want to know that I won't have to reach up and touch the screen when i'm using it in laptop mode.
Is there a cursor present? Does it work everywhere or just the browser?
I dont recall where I saw it, but I can confirm that a cursor is present. It works the same as the lapdock for the Motorola Atrix. Clicking is like tapping the screen, click + drag is a swipe. Pretty simple concept.
There was a pretty good video in Italian by HDblog or something like that. I'll see if I can find a link, but you could probably find it pretty easily on YouTube.
It showed a cursor on the homescreen, plus multitouch gestures on the trackpad (pinch-zoom, two finger scroll, etc.)
Edit: I think this is it, but can't confirm because my office blocks youtube.
Thanks for this. Exactly what I was looking for.
You can also 2-finger scroll through your homescreens using the touchpad.
This thread has a couple of You Tube videos of an actual user with the keyboard dock. Look at the second one for the main overview of the keyboard in use. I have to say I can't wait for my dock to come through, it really does look awesome.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039473
This series of videos by Asus does have some examples of keyboard usage, particularly if you scroll down it will show the dock being connected to an external hard drive. Nice!

[APP][3.0+] NovaKey - keyboard that uses meaningful gestures instead of taps.

It uses short gestures instead of taps to get each key. You select each key rather than tap and hope for the best. It's a little difficult to explain but the video might be able to help with undershanding.
Key features:
-ability to quickly move the cursor by rotating.
-Ability to select text easily
-Copy, cut and paste shortcuts
-More special characters accessed by longpressing any key.
This is my first app I learned about android apps sloely to develop this. I found that everyone that dislikes this keyboard do so because they don't understand how it works I made a video explaining how to do the tutorial. Which you can find on the play store listing. I would really love to hear any questions, comments and especially suggestions that you have. I appreciate any sort of input you guys can give me and if you happen to like it a rating and/or review on thi play store would help me alot.
Also here is a list of things being worked on:
-select all and deselect all on clipboard menu(already done)
-resizing, moving aand undocking the keyboard
-Autocorrect and predictions shown on in a circular pattern around the keyboard.
-Because each key is a gesture instead of a tap even if you don't completely swipe over the line NovaKey will know what you are trying to type.

This keyboard is absolutely brilliant. :good:
Fantastic idea,.. i use it on my galaxy s4 cyanogen cm12 and my wife which was able to write smooth and fast with it already after only a couple of minutes when she first time used it on her galaxy s3 stock and she wan´t use anything else from now on.
I really hope the development of this great app will continue and that there will follow also different language for spelling
(in our case,.. German..).!
Just a question and suggestions:
I´m not able to find the "+" symbol.. so far....?
Hopefully the cursor on the grey background will be made a little more visible for blind people like me..... :cyclops:
Maybe also different color-designs to choose from.
Suggestions from my wife:
The letters that are used the most maybe should be the ones with the most easy to do gesture... makes it even faster..
Take a look at the letter frequencies of the English language for example:
e....12.702%
t.......9.056%
a.......8.167%
o.......7.507%
i........6.966%
n.......6.749%
s.......6.327%
h.......6.094%
r........5.987%
d.......4.253%
l........4.025%
c.......2.782%
u.......2.758%
m......2.406%
w......2.360%
f........2.228%
g.......2.015%
y.......1.974%
p.......1.929%
b.......1.492%
v.......0.978%
k.......0.772%
j........0.153%
x.......0.150%
q.......0.095%
z.......0.074%
Source(s):

Space could be double tap... for those with big fingers...
And maybe highlighting (colored) the symbol/letter which is in the circle when scrolling through the symbols... her finger always get´s in the way so that she doesn´t really see which one she has selected...
Greetings
sv0911
Thank You!
Thank You! I apologize for the late response. I really appreciate your suggestions and I'm glad you like my keyboard. I have gotten multiple requests so I will be adding German hopefully soon. Also, you will be able to resize and move the keyboard around so that might be more comfortable.
Oh and for "+" shift up from the numbers keyboard.
Thank You again!

Reminds me of 8pen. Interesting, but unfortunately can't beat the speed of regular tap-typing or swiping.
Keep going nethertheless for the coolness of it ;]
interesting concept, will give it a shot.
testing this keyboard, hopefully the developer didn't stop (last version from 28th of december)
New update from "v.cantu´s" amazing keyboard with many great improvements..!!!
Look above for the download-link on first post.
Btw..:
one more suggestion from my wife to the dev.. She tried the new version and finds it pretty cool...
Maybe you could implement the function that if you push a letter and hold it without moving it that it repeats the choosen letter several times...
so you can keep the option for choosing special characters but she doesn´t has to push for example letter "a" several times to get several "aaaaaa"....
Big thanks to the dev... :good:
What a great concept, too bad it was abandoned so quickly. Does anyone know of anything similar? The playstore is just choke full of glittery keyboard bull****, finding anything there is like looking for a needle in 10000 haystacks.
