All android phones have a built in task killer putting a 3rd party task killer slows your phone down.

I haven't noticed any slowing in speed since I Installed it. I have noticed that it helps save the battery a little more and everyone know every little bit counts one the thunderbolts.

I too have noticed that. It just started yesterday for me. Very strange, I don't like it ha.
I can't pinpoint the app, I just know both our HTC devices have all of a sudden started doing it.

No, task killers on android phones are pointless. They do more harm than good.

Could be android collecting the GPS data like the iPhone does. Although android doesn't collect as much info as Apple does.
I found it. The Bump 2.0 update brought GPS location services and every wake it searches for three seconds. Force stop Bump and it goes away.

Hey I've started have a strange problem with gtalk, it disconnects everytime the phone goes to sleep :/ which is a slight propblem as I use it quite abit.
It seems to have come out of no where, I'm currently Running the latest cyanogen 6.1.1 with the the latest gapps. (The one you needed to install the gingerbread keyboard and new MARKET) everything was working as normal until a few days ago, burning can't think what's changed. From what I can tell its not my connection dropping or anything like that but does it a few minutes after the screen goes off.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Using atk?
Autokiller killing it? Is your free memory low?
It happens on 3g, and yes I'm using Atk but I've always used it and never had a problem, as its in the ignore, and my memory is fine :/
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I have had enough issues with atk killing my services like talk. I would try getting rid of it. Talk works fine here.. so I doubt that it's an issue with the app itself.
I've tried killing atk and still have the issue :/

That's strange. I never use a task killer and I've never seen anything like that before.
What's even wrong? You're hearing background music from a different app?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
seems to me like the OP is saying that the previous app can be seen through the current app - like the newly opened app is semi-transparent or something...
Anyway, that's how I read it, and that is weird, and no you shouldn't have to use a task killer to fix something like that - that's a proper bug.

I had a weird YouTube bug with my MT4G running CM7 RC2. I paused a video and turned the screen off to go do something for a few minutes, and when I went back to the video, it froze and I had to force-close youtube to get any sort of control.
But the audio from the video was still going! I had to reboot to stop it--even opening another video in youtube just made two audios playing at once LOL.

Lmao that's even weirder, and btw I just notice that I had just rebooted my phone and I opened up the xda app first thing and notice my backgroud wallpaper in the back ground with the enotification bar and everything, I doubt this is due to multi tasking, now I'm really concern with this.

There are countless things that can cause this. apps being the most common. Check under applications in the settings menu, and any app that can have it's data cleared, clear it. Mine did that with facebook, so I turned off the facebook sync completely and works fine now.

OP, also give a glance at services. I had an app installed that I hadn't even run a single time, end up running as a service, unbeknownst to me, that was making my keyboard lag badly.
Couldn't figure it out for awhile, since I had never intentionally run the app, and it wasn't showing in list of running apps.
But there it was, in services. Promptly uninstalled. Problem solved.

I reboot my phone every other day or so. That can help clear out old running services that should be running 24/7 also.

Was that the one amazon had for free one day recently?
If so, interesting coincidence, as the app I mentioned prior post that was causing me problems was wave launcher, which I downloaded just because amazon had it free one day.

I just prefer my apps to wait until I run them at least once before initializing themselves as a service.

I don't know if this is common knowledge or not but over the past few weeks I have had HORRIBLE battery life using the Das BAMF 1.6.2 ROM and I thought it was the ROM or the Kernel.
I realized around the same time that my battery life went to crap that I had also flashed to the new leaked radio.
Tonight I flashed back to the stock radio that comes with the phone - and VOILA! Battery life is amazing again - overclocked to 1.5 ghz and using smartass governor.
So if you haven't tried this give it a shot.
tried that that hasnt worked for me. im getting about 7 hrs of use on either 3g or 4g with extended battery. tried all different kernels. same battery on stock and cm7. dont know what else to do

Yeah with the extended battery and froyo based das bamf I was getting over 30 hours while on 4g the whole time. Using the battery sipper kernel. That was the best. On das bamf latest gingerbread now. Definitely less battery life. Also I toggled to 3g only and now no matter what I can't get 4g back. It's the first issue I've had with the 4g since I got the phone. Strange.

Yes, it's true for YOU. But what's true for you is not for everyone else.
This phone is in alpha stages. We are all beta testing this phone for HTC and Verizon.
I have great days and horrid days. This morning? 10% battery per hour with the screen off. Battery pull. I have an extended battery.
Lets all keep testing this phone and perhaps we will all have a great phone in the end.
I fixed mine too. I bought the extended battery.

its VERY possible, because of the extended battery.
i have das bamf 1.6.3 with leaked radio and the stock bamf kernel and the extended battery. juice defender and i also use super manager pro to kill tasks when i unsleep the phone. i also turned off 'Enable always-on mobile data' (settings -> wireless and networks -> mobile networks), turned off auto-sync under accounts and sync, changed all my accounts to manual sync, and turned my brightness down. I get great battery life but i dont think i could ever go back to the stock battery (even though i want to so badly because this thing is FREAKIN HUGE).
hope that helps some people
