There are countless things that can cause this. apps being the most common. Check under applications in the settings menu, and any app that can have it's data cleared, clear it. Mine did that with facebook, so I turned off the facebook sync completely and works fine now.

OP, also give a glance at services. I had an app installed that I hadn't even run a single time, end up running as a service, unbeknownst to me, that was making my keyboard lag badly.
Couldn't figure it out for awhile, since I had never intentionally run the app, and it wasn't showing in list of running apps.
But there it was, in services. Promptly uninstalled. Problem solved.

I reboot my phone every other day or so. That can help clear out old running services that should be running 24/7 also.

If so, interesting coincidence, as the app I mentioned prior post that was causing me problems was wave launcher, which I downloaded just because amazon had it free one day.

I just prefer my apps to wait until I run them at least once before initializing themselves as a service.
None of the popular launchers that I'm aware of, for example, automatically replace your current launcher until you tell it to.

seems to me like the OP is saying that the previous app can be seen through the current app - like the newly opened app is semi-transparent or something...
Anyway, that's how I read it, and that is weird, and no you shouldn't have to use a task killer to fix something like that - that's a proper bug.

I had a weird YouTube bug with my MT4G running CM7 RC2. I paused a video and turned the screen off to go do something for a few minutes, and when I went back to the video, it froze and I had to force-close youtube to get any sort of control.
But the audio from the video was still going! I had to reboot to stop it--even opening another video in youtube just made two audios playing at once LOL.

Glad this topic was posted. So I called T-Mobile support yesterday about the battery issues and the first thing the guy asked me was if I was running a Task Killer - I was running Advanced Task Killer. BTW, he was zero help about the battery issue!
Today, I stopped into a TMo store to look for a case. The rep told me to uninstall the ATK that they did more harm than good. The rep today seemed to be more of a technical individual and understood much more than the phone rep from yesterday. The rep today told me I would have much better luck actually stopping the processes under Applications / Running Services.
So which is it?
Thanks in advance.

Well we former vibrant owners have been told not use one since day one.
Then the vibrant got a native task killer. It was amazing.
The fact is those programs are taking up cache and I don't even use them.

What I keep reading out there is that the task killers worked well for the early android phones. But the OS is much better nowadays and does a good job managing things for ya. I also read that even tho an app is started, it doesn't mean it is using up resources.. most are sitting there dormant. Thus, the processing power used to stop them (and then they are restarting) is using up more battery.
I've read this enough to make me question whether to uninstall ATK or not. I'm seriously considering it. I do have Titanium backup installed and I have used that to freeze appPack, car home, and 1-2 others . Now they never start. But, I'm wondering... is something else triggering those apps to start? If so and they cannot be started, is there a constant attempt to start them? ping ping ping....

I've gone with and without on 5 different Android phones. I wouldn't go with out one.
While it is true that Froyo and Gingerbread SHOULDN'T need taskkillers, poor coding and memory leaks have proven otherwise for me.
To each their own.
Well in my opinion
I have had a G1 a N1 and now i have a G2x, and have tried a task killer with each phone, and personally i think it eats up more battery by making everything reset everytime it kills an app that automatically launches anyway(Widgets and Bloatware) so honestly if your having problems with background tasks root and freeze them.
I actually find that if you freeze what apps you don't want to randomly start for stupid reasons like when the wind blows, then freeze them. Then under ATK, I ignore processes that are vital and apps that I want to allow to notify me our run in the background, and the rest I just kill when I'm done with them, and it frees up assloads of memory.

true story.

G2X looses data connection, Stuck on Up Arrow.

My G2X periodically loses all data connection, and the up arrow on the top gets stuck. It usually comes back after 15-20 seconds, but lately it has been happening more frequently. It happened while I was on stock, so I thought maybe a new rom would fix it. I've tried cm7, and I'm currently running the leaked gingerbread rom, I even went to t mobile and got a brand new sim card, but it's only getting worse. At first it happened once every few hours, but lately it had been happening 3-5 times an hour, and it's getting very annoying. Is this happening to any body else?

Man im not going to lie to you, this problem seems to be a quirk with tmobiles network or maybe gsm data as a whole. I have been having this problem on every single 3g phone ive had on tmobiles network since the g1 (then another g1, then cliq, then n900, then n1, then vibrant, g2, g2x...in certain areas its worse..and the ish can be really annoying.
Yup same here, mt4g, n1, now g2x data gets stuck all the time, customer service is a joke, i probably know more about phones than them, all they have you do is reboot phone, this problem is very very annoying.

Happens on my vibrant, G1, and just about every single android phone on T-Mobile. I'm curious to know if this happens on other networks also, or if it is an android problem. I have very little tolerance for this kind of bs and if I can confirm this is a tmo problem then I'm bailing.

Yeah I like it pretty dark and simple!
I noticed that it's not Gmail... When I hit the airplane mode to disable all antenna's and re-enable it again, it's fine until I reboot my phone. Then I have to do this again if I want to get my email notifications back. The Gmail apps seems to work fine so far for me... But I will try the dark theme for it!

Words with Friends on HTC One S is PAINFULLY slow

Has anyone tried playing Words With Friends on their new One S yet? It works, but as the title suggests, it's painfully slow when trying to return to the game from the ads after taking my turn (if there was a paid version I would buy it to avoid this). And it even tries to force close! I'm using the most recent version - 4.83.
Just curious if anyone else is having the same experience?
Thanks y'all.
It's probably an issue with the app on ICS rather than your specific model. I haven't played it yet on my phone but I remember even on my SGS2 it started to get annoyingly laggy!

Thanks unclespoon. I have to admit - I never considered for a moment that it was actually a problem with the One S. That phone RULES. I just wondered if others had a similar experience.

It doesn't ever sort of stutter or time out on the way back in from the ads? Do you have the newest version of the app? Maybe I'll uninstall/reinstall?
Anyone else out there?
Try going to app info and clearing data/cache. Never seems to stutter at all for me.

Tried this. It's somewhat better, but not smooth. It was never perfect, but it didn't try to force close either. Got one more force close this AM after clearing the data/cache. Still stumped on this one.
I picked up the One S a few days ago...same issues for me, including the FC when it gets tired of waiting. Definitely not the phone--the phone is sick as hell. It was the one to finally knock my HD2 off its perch, and I haven't looked back yet (though I did keep the old girl as CM9 and ICS are still being developed at a nice clip for that device).

Couldn't agree more. It's definitely not the phone. The phone RULES! At everything except WWF, apparently.
I am still waiting for my 1s but playing on my sensation with ics I had the same issue making me believe it it's the OS not the phone

That's an interesting point that it might be that it's bad with ICS - not the phone itself (which rules).
Thanks!
