I'm so disappointed in this phone. I thought it was going be so much more. Here is my list of complaints.
1) It should have came with a toothbrush attachment so I can stick it on vibrate and brush my teeth with it.
2) There's no laser pointer, dog whistle, breathalyzer or pico projector in it. Those LG engineers are stingy.
3) It should have had a knife attachment so I can put it on vibrate and cut chicken with it.
4) It should have came with an etching attachment so I could etch nasty comments on the back of my friends Iphones.
5) When I say, "wonderphone powers activate" and slam it down on the table and say, "take the form of a dildo" it should just do it.
6) It should have came with a case................of beer.
7) Since it was released in stores on 4/20 it should have came with a big fat joint so we could be high as ****e while playing Nova on hdmi out and fantasizing about that android chick.
8) It should have a wallpaper of it eating iphones.
9) Since it's the alpha phone from the alpha quadrant it should know how to "fake it till you make it" and it should trick us into believing it's running honeycomb.
10) When my girlfriend calls it should splash random excuses and lies on the screen in case she asks what was I doing and why didn't I answer the phone.
11) When my car alarm goes off it should go off too and flash, "someones stealing your car" on the screen.
12) It should have fart noise cancellation - the anti "fart app" app so if I fart nobody knows it's me.
13) It should give sass to keep things interesting depending on how much sassiness I choose from the settings menu - no sass, sassy, extra sassy and super sassy.
If I choose super sassy I should get an audio confirmation from Mike meyers.
Example ME: "Phone, google search g2x review." Phone: "Say please."
14) It should have a set of wings and propellers accessory so I can just slip them on and tell it to go fly to a gps coordinate and come back with footage or I could just say, "find Mary, go boy!"
15) It should respond to me like the computers in star trek and address me as sir or mister.
16) It should slide up and down on my johnson while vibrating and playing an animation of my favorite playboy bunny - slding up and down on my Johnson.
17) It should double as a coaster. I've tried but it just gets moisture in it and then won't come back on. I've went through 3 already.
18) I should be able to scan a sandwhich and have it tell me how much calories it has.
19) It won't scan for life signs I tried.
20) It should have echo location and warn me when I'm drunk and walking at night if a cop car is coming or I'm going to bump into something.
21) When I'm spending special time with my girlfriend it should use the accelerometer to measure my thrust strength and count and compare it to a national database of males to see how I'm doing and it should filter out lesbians with strapons that will try to bloat the figures on purpose to hurt our egos.
22) It should have came with a kickstand ............. for my bike. It's a decent bike with monkey lights and bike speakers and I'm tired of laying it on the ground.
23) The battery should be from Chino not China, Chino not China, Chino...!! I don't know how old these batteries are and lithiums lose capacity right after they are made whether they get used or not.
24) You're killing me with the task managers froyo! Just end and kill the task when I exit it and let me exit it holy crap!
Wait a second, I didn't type that right because I'm doing 7 things at once.
25) It should taste good when I lick it
26) It should be made out of liquidmetal so it's indestructible http://www.liquidmetal.com/index/default.asp
unless you leave it on top of a very hot oven.
27) When I toss it in the air with a flip to catch it again it should say, "Weeeeeeeee."
28) it should come with an attachment that lets me use it to play spin the bottle and a cheating app that lets me make it point to the girl that I want.
29) Where is the zipbuds?
http://www.amazon.com/Zipbuds-DGA-T...LVS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1303504291&sr=8-3?
geez
30) When I root it I should see Kunta Kinte on the screen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Roots_25th_Anniversary_Edition.jpg
31) None of the compass apps lead me to hookers and blow

Actually if you know in which direction the hookers and blow can be found the compass can be quite helpful. You can even use the phone capabilities of the phone to order specific hookers or amounts of blow beforehand. (My favorite is Scarlett and an 8-ball, but I hear Sunny is good too but is always dipping into your blow)
EDIT:
This was one of the funniest things I've read all day btw.
Haha I love this list!

Thanks, Let's keep it up. I was lmao thinking up this stuff. Shows you how happy I am with the phone.
I have a night shift manufacturing job that's boring and I was thinking of these things at work smiling and laughing my ass off and I'm sure my coworkers we're walking by going "WTF is so funny, maybe Aaron's crazy."
you too
thought i was the only one who noticed all this was missing. guess it only comes with the tegra 3.

I think it should've come with a form of "4G" that has 200ms+ pings, locked to Bing search, and attached to a $100+/month contract.
(Sarcasm, just to put things into perspective.)
Thought this was another "my screen is bleeding and the power button is on top that's why im whining" thread. funny list. Haha...

Mine wasn't too hard root, but it took forever for it to flash the "My name is Toby" ROM for me!
32) It should zap mosquitos with High voltage that land on me, bug zapper fail.
It should make all my traffic lights green so I can floor it everywhere I go.
Awesome list man.
It should let everything I touch turn into Jessica Alba
33) It should have came with the ringtone, "Don't cha wish your cellphone was hot like me?"
34) Where's google Milky Way? geez I thought it was dual core
35) When I score with a hot chick it should project a hologram that gives me a high five
36) It should have came with 5g's
37) When I call it by it's pet name it should vibrate across the table to me
38) It should coach me on how to pick up women through my bluetooth headset
39) When I ahem *finish* it should say, "congratulations sir."
40) When a girl asks me if that's a phone in my pocket or am I just happy to see her it should not start the fake call app like it's been doing. There's no need to be an attention whore.
41) It should help me find meteors
42) When I buy apps for it, it should giggle, vibrate lovingly and give me compliments
43) It should climb up my chest and gently vibrate on my eyelids to wake me up
44) It should hack my ps3 and turn down the difficulty level on all the games to make me think I'm a better player than I really am.
45) When I get banned from this forum for potty mouth it should hack its way back on here and apologize for me.
46) There should be an option in the camera settings to see a picture - in a picture - in a picture - in a picture - in a picture so I can point my camera anywhere and see infinity.
47) When I bought it, it should have named a start in the sky after me as thanks.

1) Do you take your smartphone with you wherever you go?
2) Is your smartphone the last thing you look at before you go to sleep, and the first thing you look at when you wake up?
3) Do you make or take business calls regularly when away from work?
4) Do your family or friends give you exasperated looks when you pull out your smartphone constantly?
If you answered YES to any of these questions (I did!), have a look at those 5 Smartphone rules to live by. Being a smartphone/PPC enthusiast himself, Jim Taylor reminds us that even though XDAs are great, getting a life may just be more important.

LOL!
I have a positive on all
Yes to ALL of the above...get me a shrink!
Yes, but...
I think several of us use our smartphone as our everything phone. So I may look at it right before I go to bed, but I am not looking at it focusing on the email or anything. Just checking to see if g/f / friends texted me or anything.
When I see work-emails, especially the closer i go to bed, I don't sweat it. Though I will admit I did send out about 10 emails on July 3rd while on vacation... sitting on the beach... It sucked but it was nice to be able to stay in touch enough to do it there, but go back to relaxing just after!
The interactive Puff! iPhone app which lets you “blow” up cute Japanese girls’ skirts by blowing on the mic of your phone. The harder you blow, the higher the skirt goes and the girl’s squeal. Now the app has been ported to Windows Mobile. The app is in Chinese or Japanese ( I have no clue ) the menu is on the top of the screen and there are some predefined models that the app comes with. The harder you blow in the mic the high the skirt goes ..
Here is a video: http://www.viddler.com/explore/wmArcade/videos/25/
This is still the 0.1 version.

very funny!
funny .... but you have to blow pretty hard !!!
nice
applicable looks great, but watch out during the blow in the microphone of your HTC the chance that you've fought in your phone because of your blows, i blow to much in to my phone for a split second it freeze it.
but still a nice app loll
One of those useless iPhone apps to add to the thousands they already have lol.
Got my hands on a verizon 32 gig blue SGSIII. Just got it activated, had to have one shipped in since it wasn't in stock.
Goodness, it's light. I've already forgotten it was in my hands a few times.
I do miss my physical keyboard - a lot. I won't ever get over this, but in the short time I've had it that's all I don't like...and knew that going in.
It'll take me a while to get situated and oriented, and a few days to clear out my 64 sdcard for it.
Can't wait to get to a hotel tomorrow so I can get some power for my laptop and back the device up and start exploring it.
Tempting as it is to install apps (can't wait to re-play my games on this lovely and large display) I can wait until I can pull the device structure onto my computer.
Just wanted to give a shout out and say hi, looking forward to fun stuff with you all in the future!

I was gonna try to play with it unrooted stock for a while, but found something that's a dealbreaker.
Can't turn off "presidential alerts" under emergency alerts. So, looks like i'll have to make time to go through the process now.
Any spyware I should axe while i'm at it? New to both verizon and samsung, but not to bending Android to my will. If anyone feels like posting here obnoxious intrusive crap to remove, i'm open to suggestions fom those more familiar with my new purchase then I am yet.
Thanks!

"dealbreaker"? Gosh.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Alert_System#What_the_national_level_EAS_would_not_do
In a The New York Times article (correction printed January 3, 2002)[1] "No president has ever used the current [EAS] system or its technical predecessors in the last 50 years, despite the Soviet missile crisis, a presidential assassination, the Oklahoma City bombing, major earthquakes and three recent high-alert terrorist warnings... Michael K. Powell, the then chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, which oversees the Emergency Alert System, pointed to 'the ubiquitous media environment,' arguing that the system was, in effect, scooped by CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel and other channels... [FEMA] activates the alert system nationally at the behest of the White House on 34 50,000-watt stations that reach 98 percent of Americans... Beyond that, the current EAS signal is an audio message only—which pre-empts all programming—so that viewers who were watching color images of the trade center on Sept. 11 would have been able to see only a screen with a generic text message along with a presidential voice-over, if an emergency message had been activated."[1]

There has only been a test in 2011 of the system, with mixed results. The likelihood of such a notification in the future is incredibly low, but it's only for major emergencies of national implication.
Still, if you really, really need to uncheck that box . . .

Like the post above says thats kind of a stupid dealbreaker. Its not like youre going to get text messages like its the presidents twitter page. If you are that paranoid about it turn the phone back in because 'they' might be tracking you with it.

Appreciate if you'd take your hate and assumptions elsewhere, it is counter to the culture of XDA.
My issue is I hit a box I can't uncheck, an option that isn't optional. What it is, is irrelevant to the fact that it's something I couldn't change.
The dealbreaker reference is towards keeping the device unrooted stock.

No worries, appreciate the reply back!
So, rather then litter the forums with duplicate threads or encouraging duplicates, i'll just toss random questions and happenings in this one regarding my experiences with the device.
At least until i've had time to go through this sub-forum for the device more.
Feel free to answer any questions or not seen here, or comment on anything in this thread.
I just got home and my otterbox defender was here. Never had an otterbox before, so - wow.
Insane level of protection. Before it was so light and fragile feeling. Now, I like it so much better. A little bit of weight, a little bit of bulk, in just the right amount.
I feel like this device was made with the intention of sticking it in this case.
...And putting it in the holster, makes like the completion of armor for the device, what with the hard plastic shell shielding the screen from harm.
Seriously thinking about cutting the belt clip off and just leaving the smooth armor shell piece to pop on and slide the device into my pocket with. Seems like the perfect tweak to make it just right.
I feel likw even after only having it for a few hours that my future devices will take into account whether or not I can get one of these for it.
Okay - the drawback to having a screen big enough to actually use a soft keyboard on is the denial of one handed use.
No matter how I hold it, I just can't manage the device with one hand.
Now that I have the otterbox on it, i've been willing to try shifting my grip one handed during use, but really doesn't help much.
My other device is much smaller and I can use the whole screen comfortably with one thumb.
This one, not so much. If I have to reach across the screen, my palm will hit something before my thumb can get there.
I do think the benefits of the larger screen on my eyes and the actual enjoyment of the device far outweighs this inconvenience - but it does bug me.

You know, I had seen that before but it wasn't something I could really use with my other devices.
I may have to give it another look, given that this SGSIII is about what that thing was designed for.

That is actually pretty damn cool.I just wonder if it would annoy me for my phone to not sit flat on its back.
Edit: Oh wow. $30 for a little piece of plastic. Eek. I don't think i could live with myself if I spent that much on this.
I wonder how much that flygrip thing hinders getting it in/out of a pocket??
When you do get around to trying ROMs let me suggest the Synergy ROM. It is actively developed, offers all the good of Samsung's skin along with most of the great tweaks that make rooting so worth while. Moving from the DX to this phone has been great largely in part to this ROM.

Appreciate the heads up. Today is the last day of return without penalty, think i'm gonna keep it.
Right now It's just rooted, awesome quick guide here somewhere and I was able to bang it out in a few minutes while I was packing my truck to hit the road again for work.
When I get the chance, i'll pop a custom recovery in to block ota's - but right now exploring touchwiz and deciding what I do and don't like.
One thing bugging me is the device never seeming to be able to resume playing music after a call without having to mess with it... no matter what player I use.
No slight against the devs who put so much of themselves into the great works they've made for this device, but most likely I won't sample the roms available and just craft my own. I'll never get what I want unless I build it myself.
Thinking this time i'll just build from source instead of hacking apart a manufacturers version of Android.
Most likely i'll wait until i've got what I want or very near to before playing with other devs works. In large part to keep myself from being influenced by the directions they've taken.
I still haven't recovered all the files I hosted before goo went down, so getting all my works back up and available from my other device is taking up the time I can allocate to dev at the moment.
My laptop is on it's last legs, so until I can replace it ( not long now! ) can't get any real dev done anyway. Just small stuff. Can't keep it cool enough to compile a kernel even sitting on a hotel A/C vent to make it through the whole compile process of a gingerbread kernel without overheating and crashing...ICS is beyond the capabilities of my available hardware at the moment unfortunately.
Work is keeping me mad busy travelling the country ( USA) but i'm starting to have little bits of free time here and there around the constant exhaustion.
Pretty soon I should not only have the physical ability to stay awake long enough to learn something, but also the necessary hardware to do the learning on.
Meantime, it's ten or fifteen minutes of research here and there trying to familiarize myself with the device and the ICS source on my laptop for as long as I can keep it from overheating and shutting off.
It's okay, though, there's a lot to catch up on without needing to dive in and do for me at this point anyway, so the lack of acceptable hardware is more of an annoyance then a hindrance.
I figure i'll just keep adding random notes and observations to this thread to look back on later.
Comments, criticisms and suggestions most welcome from all of you out there!

Okay - palm swipe for screenshot is virtually impossible with the raised edges of the otterbox defender around the screen.
Might also be my not having cut out the otterbox screen protector yet, so has two on it and touches suck sometimes.
Well, just threw cwm on it, to block the ota.

Yeah, one-handed calling is a definite no-no. I tried my ASUS TF700T phone in a full train compartment, but all my fellow passengers were looking at me in a funny way. That might have been me almost screaming to get any reception in the microphone of the 700, though. Also, they could probably hear the conversation better than I did, the speaker being at the back of the phone and all.

I've actually seen people do it. I always smirk when they try and take an artsy photograph with it -- last summer, I was witness to a group of Japanese tourists snapping pictures of the animals in a large zoo in Amsterdam (Artis, for the Dutch). Hilarious.
For the sake of information and blowing off some quirkyness: before my eye surgery, I had great eyesight and lugged around a D90 with glass in abundance on trips like that. No way I'm taking pictures with a tablet -- that would feel like being recruited into a police riot squad and getting your equipment, then noticing the rather disconcerting likeness of your baton to a large German sausage and your riot shield's resemblance to an American pizza... until you realize that they are, actually, a German sausage and a big-wheel pizza.

Thanks, regard that as a compliment.
I was surprised to learn that in some countries it is actually against the law to have your digital camera not make a fake shutter sound when photographing. That seemed jaw-droppingly stupid -- as I've always hated people with digital shutter soudns, as well as people having keypad sounds on their phones (makes dialing go "beep-beepbeeeeeepbop-booop-beepbeepbeep-baab). The latter class also talks so loud when in phone conversation that there's no place to hide on the commute. I can still hear them on the other end the train -- until it was put forward that, seemingly, a high percentage of silent cameras was used to make up-skirt photos and such. Seems I missed the point entirely in having a silent camera, since I've been making pretty "decent" pictures of flowers and animals and such. There's no eroticism in that, unless you have some specific kind of sexual deviation.
I've actually used the TF700 as a phone on several occaisions with GrooveIP. It's actually pretty nice with a bluetooth headset, but I'd never put it up to my face because a) can you imagine the nasty cheek grease? and b) no proximity sensor to turn the screen off.

If I'd put the screen brightness on high and just pretend to be on the phone with somebody, I'd at least have half of my face warmed up comfortably. I wouldn't worry that much about people looking, because they probably think I'm retarded anyway.
Well, I suppose you could do VOIP through your tab. Skype and such would be a way, but that doesn't count as a telephone.

Seriously? That's ridiculous. If you have such a problem with people taking picture up your skirt, pay some bloody attention to your surroundings, it's not hard, or simply don't wear a frikkin skirt. I never saw the point of them.
Yes, let's put the sound back on our shutters. Because it's such a good plan to use a shutter sound when photographing a herd of, say, deer. Scares the bloody sh*t out of them, forget about making a second shot. Not to mention butterflies, cats... And don't get me started on people. Taking urban snaps is pretty much pointless if everyone goes either looking straight at you to see what you're doing, or runs away because they're camera shy. Evidently laws are made by morons.
That's why I'm always in the silent coupé. No idiots on phones

So, If I see a retard on the station using his tablet as a fake phone, I'll know it's you

Yup. Find out before I spot you, because otherwise you'll have no time to run. </creepy retard mode> You might think I was a cretin -- although I *think* I do not look like one -- but at leats I'd be a suspected cretin with a warm ear.
Shame of the one that froze up.

Simple solution: use a real phone on your other ear - or even better: buy another TF700 and use that.
1 TF700 .... $ 700
Another TF 700 .... $ 500
Seeing the faces of the people around you: priceless

Hi, as a noob I apologise if I have posted this in the incorrect place, however, this is both a request for help and a reply to your question.
I have a medical issue causing me to leave the military. Without telling the whole story, in the space of 2 years after coming back from sea, I was wiped out twice on my first and second ZX-6 Ninja (idiot did right hand turn in front of me, second rammed me on my new one at a red light) then I was rammed from behind in my car by an idiot who decided to double the speed limit). Then I was rammed from behind at another red light by an idiot who hit the idiot behind me. Then I was ripped out of the passenger side of my wife's car after coming off the freeway, by another moron who then whacked me in the face twice with a piece of firewood, sending me unconscious. Total 13 surgeries, 2 broken hands, 1 broken arm, 2 broken shoulders, a broken neck, broken knee, broken nose and to top it off I have severe nerve pain in my dominant right hand, and due to meds I have collapsed multiple times and have dislocated my fingers diving off my balcony in my sleep. So to try and get some sort of safety device installed in my house that could detect if I fall DVA suggested a unit that relied on mercury switches, a transceiver, transponder and a physical connection to my home phone total $2000 and a waste of time as the thing goes off every five minutes when you lay down which I do due to constant headaches and migraines, so pretty useless. As a Military Communications Electronics Technician I could have built the thing myself using an arduino and some sensors. So having an iPhone 5 with every sensor under the sun I went searching the Apple App Store. Pointless nothing worked even with my jail broken phone that would run in the background and just activate when needed. So having had multiple android phones and I still have an Asus TF101 (rooted) so I did a search on Google Play and there are half a dozen apps that do exactly what I want (almost). So I grabbed a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, best I could find battery, sensor. Processor and Memory wise. It works a treat, except for 1. When its charging 2. In my backpack whilst I'm on the train (so no one nicks it from me) 3. When I'm driving 4. When I just don't feel like having a massive phone in my pocket and I want to put it down. Keeping in mind I have it in an Otterbox Defender ATM and I am considering getting a ZeroLemon case with 10000mAh battery. So I believe a secondary device wirelessly connected to my perfectly good phone (save for those examples above) which I can use to Stop Alarm Conditions (I am trialling an App called Fade and it is the best so far) when I have the phone away from me (in pocket, in car, backpack etc) now this App 1 Sends an SMS to my wife 2 sends an email to my Carer 3 Dials my wife, opens the circuit, she can hear what's going on if I am moaning or groaning or I'm making a cup of tea. My wife being a cop gets a pretty good response, the last time it was three cops and three ambos kicking me out into consciousness. Now with the selection of watches that are available now, I'm tossing up between the Sony SW2 and the Samsung Gear ( if someone can programme the thing to open a video feed from my wrist it would be awesome). Problem without having them I cannot try them out and figure out which is best.
Now I know there are pendants you can get (I doubt I'm going to have a heart attack and be awake to trigger it) . To me it just makes good sense to have a watch and a phone combination that can give me the security to know that if I collapse whilst looking after my daughter (she's not even 2) then my Carer or my wife can get to my home or have emergency services get here and secure my daughter. Then look after me if I'm still ticking. So that is my answer and question.
If this isn't a bad joke, Wow man ... My jaw is on the floor. What an unlucky streak you had. Well this might be the right time to acquire a new device in the form of a smart wrist device. This week at CES companies are announcing their new devices. LG already announced a wrist band type of a device which also doubles as a watch. The neat thing is with the special headphones it cones with it can monitor your hearth beats as well. http://www.engadget.com/2014/01/06/lg-lifeband-touch-heart-rate-monitor-earphones/ checkt it out. Also there will be more smartwatches announced this week. You can just pick one to your liking.
Samsung galaxy gear is nice with all the bells and the whistles but the problem is the battery life. SW2 has less but better battery life. But I believe there will be better devices hopefully very soon.

Cheers mate appreciate it. Your jaw is on the floor. I think mine is about the only thing I haven't broken. Having said that, I reckon I could write a book based on the last 5 almost 6 years. Trust me, I do not leave the house nowadays without good reason. I have also considered making a video on you tube so I don't have to continue to repeat the entire fiasco to every surgeon and specialist i hive to go to, not to mention lawyers.
Anyways, the Galaxy Gear, would suit my needs I think, that is if I can get "Fade" onto the watch itself. After doing a thorough analysis of everything out there at the moment, the Gear is the only watch I could find with its own accelerometer and gyroscope. Having said that, if that doesn't work it may be a pain to have to learn to code an app for the Gear to do it, firstly not sure if there is an SDK for it, secondly I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to replicate the algorithm that the designer of "Fade" has used.
Oh I also discovered , that the Gear actually does have a vibrate mode. Not one video I have seen or webpage I have been to has mentioned.it save one Youtube video I saw last night. Cannot point you to it because this form is telling me I have had to post 10 posts before it will let me quote URLs.

Thank you. Found out yesterday I am probably having another neck surgery. Find out if I will have another surgery on my shoulder, in a couple of weeks.
And you are right, it does sound like a joke. In the first accident my wife who was pillion landed flat on her face with my Ninja on top of her. I was trying to figure out why I couldn't get the bike off of her to check her vitals. Turned out my right hand was practical sitting where my elbow was. I didn't notice til someone pointed it out. My wife ended up with a strained ankle. I ended up broken everywhere.
