All my other android devices can download the app from the market.. I cannot from the app market with my xoom.. can anyone else find it? please help
If you cannot find it it is most likely because Comcast decided it is not compatible with Honeycomb, thus it won't show up in the Market. As a control, check the web market (http://market.android.com), search for the app, and see if the Xoom shows as compatible device. If not, you might want to try sideloading the apk.
I am using this one here. It works decently. It is also on my HD2 running gingerbread. Scrolling is a bit choppy.

When viewing the app in market (on other phones, or the web), the description does say its not compatible for tablets.
In Comcast's support forums, they also say its not compatible with tablets.
If you really want it.. install it on your phone, back up the app with Astro File Manager (or the like), copy the APK over to your Xoom and install it.
I'll admit I have mixed results using the Xfinity TV and Xfinity Mobile apps on my Xoom.

Hi.
I have been searching the forums and the web all day for this, so please don't kill me if I've missed another tread about this!
I love my Galaxy Tab, but i hate the youtube app that comes with it. Even in "HQ" the videos are really blurry.
I have found several sites talking about YoutubeHD.apk and downloaded it from 3 different locations. Tried to install it via Astro, but I always get "did not install".
Have anyone managed to get this to work on the Galaxy tab?
Thank you in advance.
Try this, I haven't tried it.
Back up the Youtube.apk in System/Apps. Rename your new apk to Youtube.apk and copy it in to system/apps. Reboot.
If it doesn't work copy the original Youtube.apk back into its original location (system/apps)... then ask someone who knows more than me.
Thanks for the tips, but I only get "insufficient permission" when I try to move/change the name of the original file with Astro.
Any way to avoid this?
Files probably read only.
Do you even have root access?

did you go into applications and check the one to allow non trusted apps. it blocks any install that aren't from the market unless you check that box. I'm guessing you did but I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss something small and bang your head for too long.
Indeed, you will need root access and a root file explorer. I use 'Root Explorer'. Before doing this, go to Settings > Applications > Check 'Unknown Sources' box.
If you aren't rooted / do not want to root, post a link to the .apk and I will try it for you.
Not sure if the videos are in HD or not, but I use an app called TubeMate.
Go to the Android Market, and search for TubeMate. It allows for viewing and archiving of any YouTube videos in the same browser.
All the videos I've watched and archived using this app has been of great quality, not blurry at all.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I have root access, and have tried renaming the file in Root explorer(get a "read only" message).
I have also checked the "allow non trusted apps" box.
Heres the link to the APK:
mediafire.com/file/zzz1ktzy2nl/YouTubeHD.apk
If anyone with a little more knowledge about Android could try this it would be great.
I wish I could help ya but I haven't experienced this problem....all the HQ videos from you tube look great on my tab?
Ins0: Look at the pictures in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7120200&postcount=2
Is your youtube app really as crisp as the tubedroid video there?
Try to download a HD version of a file, and then stream the same file. You will see a HUGE difference.
In almost all the forum posts I have found around people mix HQ with HD(and they are happy with HQ), maybe I'm just to much of a perfectionist...
There is a new Youtube app on the Android market.
I have updated, and it is actually a little better, but still not even close to the quality I get when downloading the same file in HD from jetVD.
Have anyone else tried the HD apk i linked to?

I think jet vd is the best and you can even download youtube on tab

JetVD is great, but as far as I know it's not possible to sign in to your own youtube account? I use youtube mostly because of my subscriptions. Still nobody tried the APK i linked to earlier?

just tried it. same crappy quality.
If you use youtube mobile in your stock browser you will get perfect and smooth 720p quality.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the cause of the apps that don't appear in the market even w/ improved market fix.
I have been trying to see if I can find the common denominator with these apps and I am coming up empty. Trying to create a running thread and identify some apps that don't so I can email the dev to see if there are restrictions present that we can't see. A couple I have noticed that I use daily are.

Google has not officially certified the gtab for its use on the Android Market.
romanrish,
I know the feeling. I used to be able to see Launcherpro and even purchased it for my GTablet. Now with the new market (and all the fixes) I can't see it and have no way to tell when it gets an update other than going to the developers web site. BAH!
@Butch I am fully aware that Google has not certified the Gtablet for the market. This is more of a technical discussion. There are checks that are performed to identify what you should see in the market.
One of which is obviously looking at your build fingerprint. Since this action doesn't appear to have any consequences like changing you device ID probably would. I am trying to figure if there is a way to intercept these checks to display a different device w/out editing the build.prop which may cause instability or worse.
Any ideas?

FYI: I have the new market and had to do the "Market Fix" (stop Market service, stop Google Framework, clear data on Framework) several times before I could "see" Launcher Pro and ADW...
It eventually worked and I was able to install both via the Market -- and now they show up fine inc. updates...
What I can't see (yet) is the EA Games that were on sale for 99cents...I am only able to see two -- FIFA (bought) and Tetris -- but I'm guessing it is something to do with the rest of the games not being supported on tablets. (I think NFS Shift even states not supported on Samsung Galaxy Tab)
I just tried the build prop from my droid2 for shiggles. It is kinda ballsy, but root explorer backs up your old build prop so I figured what the heck and gave it a shot. It seems that everything is here I haven't found any side effects. This is working great. Any app I was looking for is there now. This is the build fingerprint I used
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/droid2_vzw/ cdma_droid2/droid2:2.2/VZW/23.20:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys

Market fix?
so, the GoContacts app looks pretty sweet, but I cannot find it in the market. it is a free app, and I'd like to try it. I can find it via Google, but how do I know which sites to trust..?

well, that would be my preferred method, but it won't let me push it to my gTab. Says it isn't a compatible device. I am running VeganTab
I searched and found this post - and my comment is that I'm able to purchase things on market.android.com and 'install' free apk's, however, they never show up on my g tablet. I did the market fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861044
but it didn't sync my account? My g-tablet shows up as 'Sprint Malata' on market.android which is new to me.
I have put my g-tab through a quite a few roms...wondering now if I should do a clean sweep and rebuild from scratch.
Anyone have any ideas?

Another method would be to sideload the app via your android smartphone using Bluetooth File Transfer.

Does anyone see this app in the market anymore?
It shows up for me, I have an Evo. You can try using Market Enabler to trick the market into thinking that you have a different phone.
When I found it, it had really bad reviews. I noticed a comment about no support for the Xoom, which may be why you can't find it. Either way, I pulled it from /data/app and put it in my Dropbox. Here you go:

Has anyone a link to a new Junos Pulse apk?
2.1 and newer (l3 ssl support)
I need it for my Archos. Its not avaiable in the Market for this device
thanks a lot!
The dropbox link seems to be dead. Does anyone else have the apk for Junos Pulse? Please mail it to me @ [email protected]
as the tittle states im looking for the indycar mobile app, you can only find it on the market or have it texted to you but only if you have verizon. I do not so please help

Anyone with Verizon please help?

Sprint User - Sucessfully downloaded Indycar App from Market
If you have root, Install Market Enabler: This will allow you to temporarily set your phone to appear as a Verizon phone and download the Indycar App. Just did it and it works.
Description of Market Enabler:
"A SIM Tool application to change the SIM issuer code in the running system (not permanent, will be original after reboot or flight mode)
This application is ad supported, please see my other applications to get a donate key that will remove the ads ;-)
Precondition to use this tool is
- Rooted phone
- su app
- busybox"
Works for download the app but after the app seeks for Verizon network to authenticate.
Yeah, I've got a rooted Cliq that I downloaded the IndyCar App with, but it needs a Verizon data connection to enable the app. I think this is probably a similar check as my girlfriends Evo3D's NASCAR app, which needed a Sprint connection.
1. Any way to fool the app into authenticating?
2. Any way to transfer an authenticated app?
Perhaps someone with a verizon connection could create a backup after it authenticates the first time so that others can restore?
Would that work?

I did this by downloading and running the app on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus, then copying the backup to my Transformer Prime (non-Verizon). It bypassed the check, but alerted me that I was running a non-supported device and closed. I looks like not only does it do a network check, but also a device compatibility check. So no-go for me.

Hmm, that stinks. I 'downloaded' the app on my Dad's iPhone. It looks like it was just a web page that added an icon to his home screen. It was originally open in safari, and in the menu, there was an option to add the page to the homescreen. After that it seemed to work like a normal app. On the iPhone, it seems like it was just a link to a webpage.
I wonder how hard it'd be to decompile this thing and take out these checks?
Also, if you want to stream IMS radio from the webpage on an android, it looks like you need to set your useragent to the desktop. The streaming audio didn't work on racecontrol.indycar.com until I did that. I used Dolphin to change the user agent.
I would like to run it on my Galaxy nexus.
Zulucap - any chance you can share your backed-up app with me?
I have a backed up indycar mobile apk that installs gets threw the network check but fails because my device is not supported. If anyone has the knowledge to figure this out I would make it worth their while. Let me know and I can send the back up files.

if you have root change the name in the build.prop. use adb or ROM toolbox pro app, there is a setting called build.prop editor. pm me if it works. i would do this with netflix app back in the day. you have the find the name of the phone the backup came from, and change yours to that. ---this is how devs change the device name when you see a crazy ass phone name ex DARKSIDE Galaxy it is cap sensitive. ex. to get netflix on my nexus i would change Samsung to samsung. hope this helps
Did anyone ever get this to work? Would be nice for the 500!

It's easy enough to get it installed on a non-Verizon phone, but when you open the app, it still complains about not being on a Verizon network. I'm wondering if the initial load has to happen over a Verizon IP connection to "verify" the app. If that's the case, I wonder if you could launch it with a data connection shared via a Verizon hotspot? I guess if it can force the initial connection via the cell radio, this wouldn't work.
To install it on a non-Verizon device, you can go to the webpage play store and push it to your device.
