Hi all received phone yesterday had it rooted and everything was fine. Then I like an idiot decided to flash pauls rom load balancing for the o2x. Well long story short I have spent forever trying to recover from this and have not seen anything on this subject. It boots into clockwork fine , I would have just restore from nandroid but the nandroid is on sd card and for some reason I don't have access to sd card. I have tried pushing a different recovery with no luck. Called LG and they said to try home, volume down, and power at same time and phone will restore itself. Well when I do that it takes me straight to clockwork recovery. When I just power on the phone it just gets stuck at LG and freezes. I was wondering if there is a way I can restore stock recovery to restore phone. Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions.
Didn't read the sticky that says don't flash anything from the o2x did u.... .. lop

I take it you didn't read the numerous threads from various sites stating "DO NOT FLASH A o2x ROM ON YOUR G2x".
Sorry I don't have any tips for you except maybe wait a couple weeks to flash a new device (especially a ROM not even designed for the model you have). There isn't going to be anything stable for any device 1 day after release.
Post this over in the o2x forum. Theres a couple guys there that know how to help you out. In fact there is already a thread on this over there.
Well it did say anything past 10c and for stock roms. I guess I was too much of a hurry or something.
There will probably be a beta for cyanogen for g2x soon since theres a picture of it on the g2x already. just wait it out. As long as you can get into clockwork recovery, once cyanogen is out you're fine
Or you could nvflash the stock firmware.
There a P999 .bin file here somewhere, just use that.
just an update guys I got it up back and running. I wasnt too good with adb commands. Found a program called android commander and moved my nandroid backup from external sdcard to internal memory and performed a restore . Thanks guys for suggestions.
If posible, could you do a write up on how you got it back so others that might find them self in this situation know what to do.

The LG desktop app also provides a restore function. As long as the app recognizes the phone when plugged in to USB it should be able to restore it.

If you had the test Recovery #2 flashed, you should have been able to simply restore from the SD External Card (test #1 only the internal -#2 only the external).
I did a nandroid with #2, and it is available on the external card for restoring.
Anyone know how to flash with nvflash with stock bins I don't know the process or commands.
Where do you get LG desktop app?
NVM found it.

someone verify this command please. thanks
i can't find any custom roms work on the G2x ( not signal, baseband unknown) except the T-mobile original rom.
The only original rom i can find in the forum is in .bin file and can be flash with SmartFlash tool which you can fine in the forum.
LG app doesn't work it just checks to see if your firm is up to date and stops. You can't force a restore. Nvflash is a mystery the only info I've found just tells you what to type not why and it doesn't relate to our firmwares.

Hi all
You're my last chance as i've been very dumb this morning.
I'm so used to flashing installing new roms on my desire that this morning (without having had my coffee) i did something that seems irreversable.
I flashed a US wifi Tiamat image on my Euro MZ601 Wifi only....WITHOUT doing a nadroid backup..doh....
Ok so i have access to my ClockworkMod recovery 4.0.0.4 but the ROM that suits my xoom is not on the internal memory (dooooh) but on my SD card. when i do choose update from sd card and select external, my xoom says that i have no files found (there are in there).
I'd love to be able to mount the xoom on my PC so that i could copy it on the internal but it doesn't seem possible.
So i'm stuck here. if there is anything i can do appart from chicking it in the bin, i would be so grateful.
I'm so angry with myself i am bashing my head against the wall every now and then.
HELP please, if you can
CWM 4.0.0.4 does not recognize the external SD card. You need to download solarnz CWM 3.2.2.0 image (not the zip) to your computer. It's pinned to the top of the Development section. Then use ADB to push the new recovery image to your Xoom, much like you did when you first rooted. This will give you access to your sd card again. Then you can sort out the rom/kernel thing. Good luck. It'll work out OK for you in the end.
Thanks m8, on my to download this recovery img that could save my life, or rather my xoom's life. Next post, I hope that there will be smileys galore.

Hmmm, ok this is doom day.
Ok, this is what's going on
I click in the link to download the img recovery-solarnz-xxxxxx-xxxx. Img, i get the recovery-tiamat-r4c-100611-1150. Img, which was the one I downloaded when i rooted the xoom in the first place, i flash it, it says on, I come back in recovery and I find the 4.0.0.4 cwm that still doesn't want to read my external storage...
Is it flashing the recovery correctly? Or is it just not my day?
Thx

Succes, My Xoom is back on line... OMG, doing an nandroid backup now
Thanks so much CAM30era.
the whome time my mistake was flashing the recovery image in system.... Doh, you help me discover my last dumb move of the day.
Ok that's me not doing anything on my xoom for a day or 2
Thank YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome. Glad you're back on line.

I'm pretty sure you also forgot which model you have, overnight.
If it's Wifi only, it's not an MZ601, because MZ601 is the Euro 3G model
Hello:
I'm having a frustrating experience attempting my first root of my G2X.
I've had a previous thread from yesterday, attempting to do things from the Mac side:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172487&highlight=velanche
As of now, I've decided to revert to Windows 7 on my Mac to try and rectify things. I'm able to use One-Click Recovery Flasher, following the instructions, to flash the phone. I then downloaded an earlier nightly version of CM7, installed it on my flash drive, and did the install via ClockworkMod.
I had no errors from CWM, from the wipe to the install. I then choose the reboot open, and it powers off my phone.
Upon attempting to turn on my phone, I would get the LG screen, followed by a quick flash, followed by another LG screen with some horizontal blue background behind it. I'm taking it that it means that it's stuck, because I've waited 10 minutes before having to do a battery pull.
I did at one time attempted to flash back to the stock T-Mobile, but when the LG screen came it, it would just remain there without any progress.
At this stage, I don't know where else to go. I'm not sure if there's something amiss, because my phone, as far as I know, as been erased. If there's a way to progress to CM7, I'm game. But one thing I really need to do is to get my phone back.
I didn't backup my phone's contents initially because I was going to recreate everything anyway. Now I'm in a not-so-good place, save having to get a phone exchange.
Any assistance would be appreciated; thanks so much.
V.
Download one of the "Stock Rooted Nandroid Backups" from the development section, stick it on your SD card and do a Nandroid restore from CWM. That should get your phone working again...
On the CM7 installation problem, I have no idea what that could be. I've been flashing ROMs on Android devices since the G1 first came out a few years ago and the only reasons I had bootloops were from me trying to flash without wiping or flashing an unstable build.
Sorry to digress for a second here, but you DO have the T-Mobile branded G2x and NOT the Optimus2x, right?
Working on It
Hey thanks for the help.
I have a T-Mobile G2X, so I should have done everything the way I expected. Then again, things should have worked if I did.
So I installed the Nandroid recovery for my phone, and attempted recovery via CWM, but ended up with a MD5 mismatch error (whatever that means).
I even went so far as move select files from my SD card. I formatted it, then put in those select files i wanted to keep.
I tried again, and no change.
Any suggestions on how I should proceed? Thanks!
V.
I get the same kind of "just not going to happen" errors when I try to install EaglesBlood. I've found no solution, though CM7 works just fine. I don't know what to tell you, really...

The md5 mismatch will happen if you try to copy and past the files. Try it again but this time unzip it directly to the fold where it should be. Do not copy and past the unzipped folder. This is also someones backup so you must go through the restore option in cm

I don't know if this might have anything to do with why I've had problems getting CM7 to work, but I've noticed that when I plug the phone either into Windows or OS X, I've somehow lost the internal drive. I know that it's there because I've found a whole bunch of files on it while in CWN, but I'm suspecting that there's some link between neither computer seeing the internal drive and the issue with getting the phone to boot.
Yes, I can mount the external drive, either from CWM's mount on both platforms or when I press both volumes on my phone and plug in to Windows 7 via USB.
Do you have any insight on this? I was watching a few of The Unlockr vids, and I noticed that even though the guy's phone was rooted and flashed, he still could boot into his phone until he was ready to put on the new ROM (CM7, in this case).
Thanks!

I tried on the OS X side to do this, having to download an RAR app. I found the LG file, and told the app to extract it to the backup directory on my phone. I tried the restore again in CWM, but still a mismatch.
I will try it in Windows 7 tomorrow, and will let you know the outcome.
I'm beat; spent the whole weekend on this phone modding biz. I suspect I'll be really good by the time I finally am able to get things working.

Is this an old SD card? Perhaps some bad sectors on it? Without holding the phone in my hands I can't think of anything else. Other than double check your steps, re-copy the files and try, try again.
The SD card is not old; about 2 months old. I tried formatting the card via Windows 7, but did it in FAT32. I take it that it's supposed to be formatted differently? The card is 16GB, but when I looked into CWM it's limit is 4GB.
I tried the steps again, and still get the same md5 mismatch. Is my guess correct that the card is supposed to be formatted a certain way? Unfortunately, I can access the previous OS via my phone, nor will the internal memory appear when the phone is plugged into the computer. However, I am able to mount the SD card within the computer's OS.
I almost feel like walking away from it for a week, but that means I'll be stuck without phone access for awhile. Tips or suggestions are most welcome.
BTW, there's apparently alternate instructions to deal with the md5 mismatch error. Though in Windows the NDIVIA driver is loaded for the phone, I tried the adb shell command but my device isn't detected by the software.
Thanks again,
V.
Hello all
I suspect that either my Nexus has a hardware fault (internal memory) or I bricked it somehow.
For the past few weeks the phone has been getting stuck on the google boot screen quite a lot - It takes several attempts
to start up each time so I've been trying to keep the battery from running down.
The other day while I was attempting to switch roms I put the stock img on my SD card but when I went to flash it CWM
couldnt mount my (internal) SD Card. Senior forum member Caliban2 suggested that it could be my recovery so I installed CWM 6.0.0.7 non-touch using fastboot and, like magic, the phone started up -though I suspect this may have been luck.
I rebooted the phone out of curiosity and it got stuck on the google boot screen - no amount of battery pulling and restarting could coax
it back to life, so I went into CWM again to discover that it could not mount the SD Card, I was getting the 'cannot mount' and 'E:Unable to open ums lunfile(no such file or directory)' error messages. My windows 7 PC could see the phone but said that their was non memory inserted. Out of curiosity I installed CWM 5.0.2.0 but that produced the same results.
So now my phone appears dead, is the internal memory or something related to it is broken? I have seen things on here about using an unbricking tool in Debian Linux or flashing stock using odin but I confess that I have not tried these solutions and don't fully understand them (yet).I wussed out and dropped the phone into a local repair workshop, I imagine they will be trying these same steps themselves and they say it will take them a few days to get back to me.
My problem is that I need a phone for work and I gave my backup phone (HTC Hero) to my dad recently. Should I just take the plunge
and go out today and buy a new phone? Or is there a reasonable chance that these guys can fix my nexus s, or that I might be able to?
I'm a relative 'noob' at this so I thank you all for your advice in advance, it's much appreciated.
Derek
Do a search for flashing fastboot images. Download the 4.0.4 fastboot image from google and flash it as directed through fastboot. This may sort out your problems.
Afterward, if necessary, format the /sdcard too. I would do this afterward so that maybe you can get a backup of all the stuff on it before it's gone forever.
Thanks, will do. It's in the shop at the moment, I suspect this is probably what they're doing now.
Perhaps subconsciously I'm just looking for someone to tell me it's irreparable so I can rush out
and pick up a Galaxy Nexus.

Hey Harbb
Just wanted to give you an update on this, got it back from the shop who said they would need to send it to Samsung for a hardware repair, didn't expect it to work but fastbooted the stock bootloader, radio and image to the device and it's now working!
I've already moved onto a Galaxy Nexus on contract but at least now I can make a bit of money back off my old phone.
Thanks again for the advice

Hi, first post, and attempting to stick to forum rules and customs as much as possible... I have a question about recovery mode on my T-Mobile G2x (LG Optimus 2x). A couple months back, I was finally looking into modding and choosing a ROM. However, before doing any of that, I thought it smart to try a nandroid backup, which to my knowledge can be achieved through recovery mode (which I looked up, and found could be accessed with power button/volume down). So I tried it out and successfully booted into recovery mode. Satisfied that I was capable of that I rebooted, and to my serious disappointment and frustration, everything (almost) was gone. Contacts, messages, apps, the whole shebang. Interestingly, however, my pictures/media files remained, along with root access, and certain files I had stored internally. Other than that, I was looking at my phone like it was on day one. Since then, I've been too scared to try anything sketchy at all, and I've been religiously backing up everything with TitaniumBackup. What I want to know is, why did my phone reset like that, why did certain things remain, and how can I safely go about doing a nandroid backup now? I'd rather not delete everything again...
Apologies if that was long, but I hope I've made things clear enough! If you need more information, or if I'm an unknowing rulebreaker, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
Well. Lol recovery mode on stock does a factory reset. Thats why you lost everything. You need to flash custom recovery via nvflasher before you can make your nandroid backup. There are step by step guides on how to do everything on your g2x. Btw the g2x is not the o2x. Their software is not compatible without porting, so make sure you have the lg p999 and not the lg p990. Search guide to getting started with your g2x ,assuming you are on the p999, everything you need to know is there.
EDIT: Guide is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060715
[REF][Guide/Tutorial] Getting Started Modding Your T-Mobile G2x
You need to flash clockworkmod for custom recovery options, backup, and flashing roms. Rooting it is just a tiny step.

Wow haha. That's obviously where I got confused... totally new to this stuff! If I remember right I was following instructions from a couple different sites at once.. good grief. But thanks for putting it in plain english! So yeah, mine's the p999 and I've actually been to the guide page before. However I think I had seen something else and was under the impression that there was a way I could do a nandroid backup beforehand. One thing though, I guess now I'm wondering what exactly a factory reset even does. Evidently it erases all apps and settings and such, but why do pictures and files remain along with root access? Just curious. If there's a guide to that or a link you know of that I can't find that would be fantastic!
Nonetheless, thanks for being so prompt and helpful!

Factory reset clears all personal data, just like your phone came out of the box (or the factory). The reason pictures and files remain is probably because they're on your sd card.
AS for root, I believe it's on a lower level than recovery (but I may be wrong)

I admit that I did not spend a lot of time searching for a solution for her phone and figured that you guys would know best about what is best for this phone. Is there a functional CM9, 10 or 10.1? That would be the best solution, IMHO for her. The main thing I am looking for is stability. Flashy ROMS with lots of bells and whistles are out. Basic ASOP type of ROM is what she wants.

Thanks for the help androidisfuture. If I broke the rules by posting a question in the Q&A forum, I am so sorry, I did not realize that this was not allowed.
I admitted that I did not spend a lot of time searching for an answer, but I could not determine if the P500 and the P509 use the same ROM. The threads that I did review were not explicitly state that they would work on the P509.
Try Gingersnap by neko. Use link2sd to extend memory.

I guess its ok to ask this: for cm9 flash, what tool did you use? did you just load it via the manual boot-to-recovery and use cwm or twrp, or did you use something like Goo ?

I just used the latest CWM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523050
I have a lg optimus t myself. I rooted using super one click. Then from play store installed from manager aka clockwork mod. The rom I am using is the latest icy snap which has a built in app2sd thing. This requires formatting though so backup first. In fact its best to do a backup right in clockwork mod then store that backup on computer. Pm me if you wish. Once my power is restored and I have a regular keyboard I can give better instructions.

I read repeatedly that ROM Manager does not work on Optimus T/500/509 . before I restored a stock rom I had run it on my handset and I'm not sure what happened to be honest. i had a sorta half-installed CWM.... CWM itself was non-functional, but if I ran Nandroid Online Backup app [from the play store] it would work, stash a fresh backup in the CWM folder on the SD card.
I have read elsewhere that if you run ROM Manager several times, just as if nothing had installed on first pass, it will finally get cwm installed, but I don't trust it. Wish we had a "superoneclick" type tool for installing one of the good custom recoveries.
if anyone knows the term commands for installing cwm, or twrp, or whatever workable custom recovery, i'd love to hear of it - been looking all over but what I find is usually half-described, followed by many posts/replies of fails.

I also recommend AmonRa recovery, its tried and true and you shouldn't run into any problems
thanks for this 3
I have that winfastboot /android-flash-recovery tool - the problem with this handset, which is noted hundreds if not thousands of times, is to try [without a custom recovery] to boot to fastboot mode usually means you will not get fastboot but you will get to reinstall all your stuff again because it will reset your phone . so.. I'm willing to try amonra, twrp,, whatever someone claims has succeeded on p509 but just need plain instruction. there is no magic bullet like there is superoneclick for rooting. can't use goomanager. we see how well rom manager turned out.... if you happen to have a link to something that gives the steps to any of these including cwm I would be quite appreciative. I can't count the number of threads and youtubes, blogs, etc I"ve been through that are titled something like "how to install a custom recovery on optimus _[whatever]" only to find them linking to an xda thread, which in turn has no specific install steps :crying:, or worse... incomplete or erroneous.
