I've done a bunch of research and decided to enter the tablet world today thanks to woot. I've read a bunch of information on the GTablet and one of the things that keep coming up is the fact that out of the box, it leaves something to be desired. Since I will be rooting it and installing custom mods on it anyway, I'm not worried too much about the preinstalled software, but I read about updates from ViewSonic. Can someone fill me in on these updates so I know what course of action I should take as soon as I get my new tablet?

Sick, I just wooted
Same. I was all stoked for the iPad2 but decided to go with a rooted Gtab. Hope I'm not disappointed!
Almost bought one from Sears the other day for $400. Good thing I passed on it as Woot has it for $100 less. Anyway, I've been reading on a lot on the xda forum too, hopefully I will have all the knowledge to properly root it. I've been jailbreaking iPhones are years now, so I hope that experience help on rooting android.
If there are links to guides that help help newbies, please post them. Thanks.
All of you,
Congratulations on your new G-Tablets -- even if you did get them way cheaper
than a lot of us did!!!
But please, all of you, read these forums and get used to your tablet so you don't
make a mistake and mess it up bad. Modding does have risks.
All the info you need is in these forums. A little research should answer most
questions -- and it you don't "get it" at least you will be able for post an
intelligent questions someone can help you with.
Good Luck,
Rev
They must have wooted a lot of tablets. I wooted one too.

The GTablet is a hackers dream. Easy to root, so much so that all the custom ROMs here are pre-rooted for you and can be installed easily without rooting the factory ROM. Jailbreak experience not required but I do recommend you become as familiar as you can with "nvflash" as it could become a very good friend if things go awry. You'll find some information about it and a lot of other good info in the stickied threads in the development section.
Same Here, Just wooted one as well.
Does that make all of you wooters???

My iPad 2 just came in the mail today after waiting since I ordered on launch day... My friend text me the woot deal this morning so I ordered one... tablets have such a long ways to go I'm much happier spending half as much until something amazing comes out.
Luckily someone took the iPad 2 off my hands from craigslist... now I just have to wait for woot to ship! Lots to read in the meantime it seems. It's exciting to see such a great community following for a device.
Also got one off of woot today! Been wanting a tablet for awhile. Really wanted the xoom but for the price I couldn't pass up the g-tab!
Me too!
I also just got me a g-tab off of woot. I am torn though cause I am not sure which I'll use more, my inspire 4g or my g-tab...
I guess this thread needs to be called the "Woot Club". I just found the woot of the day, and snatched it up for $279. Too good to pass up.
I was so happy to find all the good things you guys have to say about it on this forum. I'm running an Incredible with CM7 RC2 and love the customization and well, the OS itself. It was actually XDA forums that made me decide to pull the trigger.
I got in on the woot too. Very excited. I hope my wife doesn't kill me when that woot box shows up. I'll have to buy her some earrings to distract her.
I wooted this morning at work! I'm exited to see what viewsonic has come up with. I have a rooted dx now hopefully rooted this one will be similar. Z4 root works I've heard?
I purchased one from woot as well. I currently have a D1 and have rooted the phone several times. This is a great forum to gain knowledge and I can't wait to begin playing with the gtablet. I was going to wait for the samsung but couldn't pass on the price.
joined the woot train and purchased mine. Addicted to rooting and customizing my Sprint Epic 4g, was going to buy a Nook color but not anymore
Can't wait to mod my G-Tablet and show friends its awesomeness.
Ok guys, here it is:
Contemplating buying a used Verizon version Xoom 32GB in good condition (no scratches) with wireless bluetooth keyboard and cover/case for it for $350. What do you guys think about this deal? I think it's pretty good considering the prices they go for used on eBay and Amazon Marketplace. I need some advice...and soon. I'm supposed to meet this guy in an hour and a half.
NOTE: I'm aware this does not belong in the DEV section and will delete it as soon as I get some input. I'm literally supposed to pick this thing up in an hour and I'm on the fence about getting it...also, I got no views on my post on the Q&A thread. Please help guys and excuse the post in the wrong section.
hmmmm
Asking this in a forum full of Xoom owners the answer is obvious..
Buy it root it love it!
.
Thanks for the reply...I'm not questioning the quality of the Xoom. I'm just interested in whether I am getting a good price considering it's used.
I'd definitely say it's a good deal. You're getting the 3g xoom, bluetooth keyboard and case for less than the price of the xoom new. Would jump on that!
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
ONLY buy on the condition you immediately flash the latest Tiamat rom But this thread will be moved in about 30 seconds is my guess
This is for a VIDEO review of the new Tranformer Prime Tablet
You will need a HD camera, clear voice, and of course a Transformer Prime tablet
I would like to post a review of the tablet on my website but haven't got the funds to buy one myself.
I will pay you $50 (via paypal) for an in-depth review (15-20 mins)
Im looking for someone who has previous experience in doing reviews like this but if you have no experience but feel you are up to the task you can easily watch a few video reviews on youtube to see how they are done.
Hope im posting this in the right forum, hope to hear back from some of you
There actually is an actual TF-Prime Forum now..

ah bugger didnt see that one,
ill post it in there (or if a mod can move this that would be great)
thanks for the info
Dude, if you're trying to throw $50 around for a review, seems like you should just order one. (You can obviously return it if it disappoints.)

Hi,
I was looking at buying a Ainol NOVO 7 Mars as it suits all my needs. I am just unsure where to buy it from.
Does anyone know a reputable website to purchase it from? I ran across a few but have no idea if they are legit or not.
Also any opinions on the tablet itself? I know its single core but I think thats okay for me (just looking to read stuff on it mostly, ebooks, lecture notes, etc.)
Cheers for the help guys!
I tried multiple stores and I can recommend spemall. Pandawill is another legit store.
As for the tablet: I had an Ainol Novo 7 elf. Same specs basically but single core. I was quite happy with it so I think it should be fine. Of course spending a bit more and getting a Nexus 7 would be even better
//edit:
Thought it was dual core. Seems like it's similar to the old elf. Anyway, even with single core it's good. Don't expect it to react like lighting all the time. But for that price it's a great tablet. You should spend some time on ainol forums (slatedroid ie) to get the most out of it with roms.

Hi - I bought my Ainol Novo 7 Basic last November from Merimobiles.com it was a good price, quick ship and good customer support. They always respond quickly to questions I have. They are good about keeping firmware and updates up to date on their site for your device and you can subscribe to their notification service for your device, and it will send you an email when there is a new firmware update available.
good luck with your Mars.
Hi!
I have an Asus ME176C tablet (Memo Pad 7 serie) aaand I fried the motherboard. As my old phone at this point is only good for making calls, without tablet I'd need a new phone/tab, but I don't have the money and probably won't be able to buy a new one for some time. Because of this I've thought about replacing the motherboard, but I have a few questions about this.
1) Is it possible that other parts connected to the MB are damaged as well? Battery, screen, anything. So basically, if I get a working motherboard, how likely it is to work?
2) The tablet came in 2 versions, 8GB and 16GB. As far as I know, everything else is the same (on paper), only the storage is different. Can it cause a problem, if I put the different one in?
3) This one is to those who actually have experience: outside of some foreign webshop that doesn't ship to my country, I only found 2-3 motherboards on Ebay. I only bought cheap minor stuff so far from there and don't know how things are in this area. I know there is always a possibility of a scam, but is it more likely with things like this? Should I go for it and hope for the best, or is this kind of stuff maybe a no-go on Ebay? Sadly I can't post links, but maybe someone can search for it and see how legit it looks? The one I was looking at goes under the name "Placa Base Motherboard Asus MemoPad K013 ME176C 8 GB"
Thanks for the help.
