Rotating to Landscape for Incoming Call & Dialler - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi everyone,
I'm really new to this so go easy! Also, I'm sorry if this type of question has been posted already. I have looked around and can't find anything that fits the topic.
I'm using the HTC Desire HD and use this a lot for navigation whilst driving. I use the navigation app in landscape mode and my in car holder is landscape. I have recently posted on here to get my Spotify to work in landscape as well so it is really easy to use in the dock.
However, I receive phone calls and the incoming call screen then flips to portrait. This means I have to tilt my head to the side to view the call! This is also a problem whilst using the dialler.
I use Launcher Pro and the home screen rotates to landscape so I thought the dialler and incoming call screen would do the same. Seems not.
I have seen apps where the dialler uses landscape modes, this solves a part of the issue. I am really wanting to be able to set the phone up so everything is landscape when tilted this way. I want the dialler and incoming call screen to do the same as the rest of my phone does when tilted in this direction.
Any help would be much appreciated, I am willing to learn and look into the coding if this is what is required.
Thanks.

I search the same solution for it. I have a dockstation in landscape and i search how rotate the screen when I receive a incoming call.
Thanks ^^

I had the landscape call working for me in my Desire HD with Android Revolution ROM, but somehow i lost this function and i can't figure out how to get it back to work. It was very handy to use when driving, and has also the option on a button to has someone else to the cal.
Hope we find the solution soon !!

landscape caller Id

I have the Stock updated rom on the HTC Fuze. I am annoyed that the caller Id/incoming call screen does not come on in landscape mode.
update (work around)
I come up with a solution that allows me to use applications in landscape mode and be able to screen incoming calls.
I had previously used advanced configuration tool 3.3.0.0 to enable landscape mode. While in landscape mode the dialer screen would malfunction if the keyboard was closed (even if I used screen changeScreen v2.78). Apparently landscape under screen in settings is different than open keyboard landscape. I had to either always have the keyboard open to view apps in landscape or answer every call.
I checked again to see if anyone else had this problem and knew a fix and came across my post. Maybe someone else with the same problem might find this post and be directed to the posts below.
I currently use the sensor to rotate certain applications. The device stays in portrait mode so the dialer cprog works (after a delay).
Sensor auto rotate:

[Q]Landscape Animation !

Hey guys
Is it any app that can make our Android phone to have any kinde of animation when we rotate the phone to landscape, like the WP7 or Iphone ? for exemple in web browser or Gallery, Messeging ?
Sorry for my bad english
Thanx
Speaking of switching orientation... is there an app that switches orientation much quicker and without having to tilt the phone back and forth for it to register, but rather actively check the accelerometer to see whether it should be in landscape or portrait because 90% of the time, it doesn't do that. My Droid X will be vertical in my palm yet be displaying landscape then I have to whip it back and forth for it to come back. Very annoying.

[Q] Phone.apk for High DPI - Help

Hello Community, this is my first time posting but I have used this site to answer all of my other android questions so I know this is the right place. I have spent three days now on this 'issue' and still I have found no resolve.
My Mother bought a MyTouch 3G Slide the other week and she has very poor vision. The best solution I found for her was to change the DPI on the phone to make EVERYTHING big. This seemed like a good solution except the Phone.apk / in call dial-pad is off the visible screen. I am not looking to fix the dialer there are numerous apps that will put that in the visible area, it is just that in call dial-pad, and since my Mother actually used a phone to make calls this is an issue to her.
The only way I can think of to fix this is to make a custom phone.apk for small screens, if anyone can help me do this, or has a better idea please share and THANKS in advance.
Technical Info: Default DPI=160; Custom DPI=220.
This make the 3.4inch diagonal screen into a virtual 2.6inch one.
Screen Shot of the Issue (Phone.apk does not work to show in-call dial-pad due to me trying alternative ones atm but dialer illustrates the issue.)

Please if anyone has any idea I would really like to get this done as soon as possible.
Ok by accident today I fount a possible alternative. When the phone dialer is displayed even though it is out of proportion when I click on the area where numbers being dialed are displayed a soft keyboard with 0-9 is displayed.
However the Phone is a myTouch Slide, with a physical keyboard so holding the menu button will not bring up a soft keyboard. Is there a way to bring one up in calls even though a phone has a physical one? Also the physical keyboard is not a option for my mom when she would be in a call with someone and need to dial a button.

First impressions and suggestions for making our phone better :)

Sorry if this is too broad a topic for one post, but I thought I'd just keep everything together. Here goes:
How do I update to the new google talk that allows voice chat?
Also, didn't I hear something about video on Skype on the sensation?
One rather big issue is that I would love to turn this phone sideways to type so its easier (nice and wide), but I would also love to see the last line or two in the chat box as well. The screen is plenty big to have the sideways keyboard on screen as well as the line youre typing on, and also the last line or two of chat. That way, you can just hold the phone sideways to chat. Specifically, I'd love to be able to do this in gtalk and skype, but obviously it has other implications as well.
My phone volume overall is too low, both on speaker and off.
I bought my Sensation just a few hours after the unlocked bootloader was released and I read that a few people had successfully used it. I'm now s-off and rooted Can't wait to see how great this phone gets in the near future
So far, the wifi and 3g have been awesome. The phone runs cool, even when using the screen/wifi a lot and taking videos and pictures. It's super snappy too. The light sensor for when you hold it to your ear seems to function wonderfully as well.
The only keyboard I know of that allows you to control hits height in both landscape and portrait is Smart Keyboard. Its also the best keyboard available in my opinion with a ton of cool skins. It has very accurate auto complete and tons of options. I love having the option to make my long presses for the number row activate in milliseconds rather than waiting a couple of seconds. Its also faster than the HTC keyboard. There's a trial in the market. Check it out.

thanks, i will check out the keyboard you suggested! any way we can have htc keyboard behave like this in the future through modding?

wow what an awesome keyboard! i have it installed. the only issue seems to be that when in landscape mode after sending a message, the keyboard automatically closes itself. you have to tap the text input field again each time after you send a message if you want to send another one. i dont see a setting to change this. other than that, its perfect! exactly what i was looking for.

try Ultra keyboard. You can adjust the height of keys, add arrows and a host of other goodies.

[Q] Car Panel (Car mode) and shortcuts for it

As for me, the best car app for today is Car Home Ultra. It is customizable a lot and it shows more usable information on main screen.
But at the same time, I face the problem of finding "right" shortcuts.
For example, if I'm using shortcut for Phone, it always works in portrait mode. I can't get it in landscape
Does anyone knows how to get shortcuts for Phone (or Dialer) which are used in original HTC Car panel? Phone app in Car panel does rotate (Favorites, Recent Calls, Dialer)!!! see pics.

You would need a Desire Z dialer apk that has the ability to rotate. Problem is.. the Desire is the wrong resolution. You might want to search around a bit and see if anybody ported a rotating dialer to the Sensation...
I am not sure dialer from other phones are needed, because, as you can see on pictures, Sensation has already rotating dialer, at least from it's original Car panel.
I want to find shortcuts to these apps.
Ok. Perhaps right question is - how to get Phone mode (dialer) to landscape view?
Thanks to "topcattroy" from other forum for workaround on Car Home ultra.
>>>
" ... Inside this app's options it has a check box to turn on car home
which came with the phone. It acts like you put it into a car dock from verizon.
And guess what the dialer is now landscape. So when you use this app
when your driving you can put a shortcuts on the app to call or open the phone.
It is in LANDSCAPE. It took me since the phone came out till today to find this
to work. Hope this helps anybody with a thunderbolt. and i bet other androids too."
I am thinking about the same question after tried out several car home dock applications myself. How to get the dailing panel landscape? If you observe carefully most roms do not go to landscape mode of the sense home or dialer if you put your phone on the side. It seems the landscape mode of sense home is supported deep in the framework in the Gingerbread. Most devs, perhaps the htc soft-engineers too make the landscape mode off in the normal situation in order to prevent any complications. Only the devs can figure out how to trigure the landscape mode. Hope an expert finally can focus on thier eyes on this issue and make a application shortcut.
At the same time, native CarPanel allows dial mode go to landscape mode. Even 3rd part dialers works in landscape (but I like sense ).
Also for Windows phones there were quite easy to make "white list" in registry for apps to allow them to rotate.
I am not sure, but perhaps I have to ask this question in devs discussions.
I eventually got the dialer into landscape mode after a few tries. I am using a rooted leedroid ROM but its should be pretty much the same for standard ROM.
I had to remove all of the HTC Locations apps and widgets, as these are all system apps I used Android Optimizer for doing this. This also allowed me use the Google Car Home app which is installed but not accessible with HTC Locations installed.
To put the phone into Car Mode I use the Tasker app to set the Display Car Mode on but the Car Home Ultra app also has an option to do this.
With this done I can use the standard dialer in landscape and as I prefer to use Google Navigation app anyway then I dont have the HTC Locations installed at all and havent tried reinstalling in case it tries to take over again.
... and yes as a wee word of advise, backup everything before you start and then backup each item before you hit the remove button!
