Try holding volume up while turning on the phone and see if you can get into Open Recovery.

pull the battery, put it back in, hold down camera button, vol down and power at the same time to boot into bootloader. rsd should recognize it then

Did you install Dexter's Froyo 1.3? You have to do that before you can install bugfix-3. Did you:
1. nandroid > restore > stock221v13
2. apply update > stock221v13-bugfix-3
3. wipe data and cache

Thanks a lot Mioze7Ae...
WORKED

Try holding camera button and volume down while turning on the phone and see if your xt720 can get into bootloader, which can be recognized by rsd lite.Flash a sbf then.
Good luck.

Please HELP, defy DEAD, nothing works :(

I broke my phone.
I had a Spanish 2.1 defy rooted, and I wanted 2.2 so I installed System recovery and downloaded the UK Blur froyo rom. I installed and everything in the process went well, but I ended up stuck in the Motorola logo. What can I do or flash to the phone? please help me.
I knew stuff about android with my XT720 and Milestone but this phone is really different.
Update: I can't use any firmware either! When I try to flash it says ''failed, unable to charge ini files'' but this was happening even before I restored a backup
Please help me!
if you flashed a 2.2 ROM via RSD Lite, you cant get back to 2.1
go into the RecoveryMode volumedown+power and do a fullwipe (data+cache).
Restart. if that didn't work, than flash another 2.2 ROM with RSD Lite, which must be no older than that one, which you flashed first.
if no, than you'll get back to 2.1, when you go into the bootloader-mode with volumeup+power and flash via RSD Lite a 2.1 ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537 )

Rsd Lite will give me that error with every firmware I try.
Recovery mode turns on but what can I do?
Which version of RSDLite are you using? Did you tried to download the sbf again?
Did you flashed 2.2 directly or that "downgradable" stuff?

I did not flash anything. Even before when the phone was working, RSD gave me that error. I got rsd 4.6.
I restored the UK Blur froyo backup with the Recovery menu, and I had made a backup of my 2.1, but I can't access to it. Just to the standard recovery mode.

Ok then, it is easy now to do it, you need to get a 2.1 SBF, then use THIS version of RSDLite
Flash, and reboot, if you stuck in bootloop just wipe and then you will be fine

The problem is that he was using RSDLite version 4.6, he needs to use 4.9 to work.

Uninstall all versions of RSDLite that you have, this is 4.9, i'm using it.
Then reinstall again, make sure you have the latest drivers : http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/Handset_USB_Driver/?pubid=987654
It's working now, but something wird happened. instead of opening flash image, it just started saying ''flashing phone''.
I guess it's just a mistake.
question, after this 2.1 I flashed and if it works, can I flsh a 2.2 firmware?
which one (with blur)?
thanks again.

That one doesn't have BLUR as you can see in the name, and i think there are problems flashing directly after 2.21, many people had to go thru 2.51, did you wiped after flash?

[q] what am i on!!!????

i am so confused, i did the OTA UPDATE and retained root, flashed the new deodexed 2.3.6 rom.
verified that i am on the new 2.3.6
just for giggles i tried to install version 4 supercharged, and it worked! all seems to be working, except the volume control from the problems from the deodexed rom 2.3.6
however when i check to see what version i have, it says 2.3.5
55.11.16.mb865.ATT.en.us
i did a reboot, it it has retained 2.3.5.
so what am i running?
i wonder if i could flash the FXZ since the phone says that im on 2.3.5???
answered my own question.
i tried to flash back via rsd lite and it stopped at 6/20.
did vol up/down
NORM BOOT and im back to normal'

That's because the underlying scripts are from 2.3.6, but because you flashed sc v4 all of the apps under system/apps were replaced from 2.3.5 essentially you are running 2.3.5 but you phone thinks it's 2.3.6 and none of the patches and fixes that came with 2.3.6 work.

How did you flash it? If you are planning to flash it through RSD Lite you have to mod the xml's. If you have root you can just flash the Stock deodxed 2.3.5 that's posted on the dev section

[Q]Ending a Probable Soft Brick

I tried flashing CM9.1 using ROM Manager tonight on my GT-P3113 and it's now stuck on a boot loop. The blue Cyanogen creature comes onscreen with a flashing chest and the background has this electronic blue vortex look. I'm unable to do anything and holding the power button only reboots into the loop. Is there a way to fix this?

If you can still get into CWM, then i would recommend you try flashing this stock ROM which is 4.1.1 JB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861370
Which version of CWM recovery are you using? Make sure its 6.0.1.9 or higher.
If you prefer to return to stock ICS 4.0.4 you can download the odin stock firmware here
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/170457040/052efe5/P3113UEBLH2_P3113XARBLH2_XAR.zip.html
CM9 is outdated and no longer being supported.
CM10 based ROM are available on the forum, but be careful and follow instructions in the thread exactly.
It is possible to hard brick this device permanently so be careful.
DO NOT DO A FACTORY RESET OR DATA WIPE FROM STOCK RECOVERY

Power + vol up. When you see the samsung logo, release the power but continue to hold vol+up until CWM displays. Make sure you are in CWM, not the stock recovery.
If this doesn't fix the boot problem then ODIN flash the stock ICS from the link I provided.use odin 1.8.5
That would remove any corruption caused by the failed CM9 ROM flash, hopefully.

Here's a quick tutorial on flashing odin roms.
ignore the model and rom that doesn't match yours
1. download samsung kies to get the correct driver for gt-p3113
2. download odin3 v.1.85
3. download Stock Firmware
4. install Kies
5. extract Odin3-v1.85.zip
6. extract P3113xxxxxxx.zip until you get file P3113xxxxxxxxxxx1_HOME.tar.md5
7. turn off your tablet
8. enter download mode (press volume up button + power button about 5 seconds)
9. plug the usb cable to your pc and your tablet
10. run Odin3 v1.85.exe
11. check if pc recognize your tablet by seeing ID:COM turn yellow and "Added!!" message in the message box lower left odin window.
12. klik PDA button and put P3113xxxxxxx.tar.md5
13. make sure to uncheck re-partition
14. click start
15. odin processing takes about 5 minutes, wait patiently.
16. if there's a "SUCCEED" in the message box, your tablet will restart
17. wait about 10 minutes, you should get your ICS boot
Flashed stock ICS and.....it works!
Thanks a lot man. That's the first and last time I try to flash from RM. Gonna flash that stripped down JB ROM now though.
I now have JB 4.1.1 and am veery happy. You're a lifesaver.

This happens because the flashing failed when you tried to flash the wrong firmware. When the phone boots, it runs certain system checks, and if it fails those checks, as a safe mode, it throws itself into Fastboot. It will do this because it is unsure if the phone is safe to boot.
You can boot it normally from fastboot by hitting power, (screen shuts off) hold down both volume rockers, and hit the power button. Then select boot normally.

If you want to get back to stock, FXZ back to one of the stock AsianRetail firmware which can be found here.
If you don't know what FXZ is, read here.
Root from here.
If for some one reason this firmware does not work for you (it didn't for me, it got stuck at lockscreen everytime the phone booted and I couldn't unlock the phone) you could use this firmware.
Root from here.
Hope it helps!
Cheers.

Are you able to boot into recovery using the correct button sequence? Use this button combination:
Press and hold - POWER + VOLUME UP
If the recovery menu shows up, use the volume up/down button to scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset. Let it wipe and then select Reboot System Now and see if your device will boot normally. Good luck and let me know what happens.

Okay. No problem. I've had some issues with Odin 3.11 which you said you used to flash back to stock. I've had the most success with Odin 3.07 and 3.10. I would download Odin 3.07 and use it to flash the stock firmware. Make sure you are flashing the same firmware version that you were using before your problem started. So, if you were using 5.1.1, make sure you flash a stock 5.1.1 firmware.
Also, where are you downloading the stock firmware from? I use www.sammobile.com. It takes forever to download a firmware if you don't have an account but it's legit, stock firmware. Hope this helps. Good luck. Let me know what happens.
