If I restore a backup with the older RUU after flashing the new RUU, will my phone go back to the original RUU or stay with the first one? If not, how can you downgrade the RUU?
TIA
No radio is not stored in a backup nor a Rom.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
ok, so how would i go about downgrading the radio? Is there an unsigned version somewhere that would allow me to keep root?
Nope there is only one other stock ruu out there that I know of that is unrooted. I may be wrong.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Thats what I thought, oh well if it doesnt work, guess ill just flash that and re root. Thanks!
Why do you want to downgrade so bad?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I don't, the new radio works perfectly fine for me. Just in case something goes wrong, I want to make sure the option was there for me to revert.

At this point I've tried every method of flashing, and every version of cwmr. No matter what version or method I use, after about a week, I lose the ability to flash any roms that I havnt already flashed. I also can only restore certain backups due to.an MD5 mismatch. Has anyone else had these issues?

Ya I downloaded it and everything and tried different ways and it wont let restore, just says md5 sums mismatched tried 2 sdcards and downloading them in root of sd card and directly in the CWM/restore folder. still a no go, but I can restore other backups and flsh roms. just not the one i need.
Probably won't get to it till thursday or so, but im going to try and go back to completely stock, reroot, reflash cwr, flash cm7. Otherwise im getting a replacement...
Ps
The dl posted in another thread for me failed as well. I also had an intense the other day where all my partitions were completely wiped. It took 3 hours to finally get nv flash to flash cwr and flash a rom.

My SD was bad! Reformatted in cwr, then in settings SD and storage... dl cm7, and flashed. Just remember to copy ALL the contents of your sdcard cause formatting WILL DELETE EVERYTHING!

Ok if anyone is still having problems, id like to mention that I exchanged my 5 year old 2g simcard yesterday for a new one, and bought a new 16gb class 4 sandisk sdcard, and EVERYTHING is working great! so far maybe only 2 or 3 occurrences of data loss, easily corrected with a battery pull. And I borked some lib files trying to get the camcorder to work. So I installed the kanged version update-cm-7.1.0-RC0-G2x-KANG-signed.zip overtop of my build to get the rom to boot again, and now the camcorder works! Maybe only about 15fps but works nonetheless...

So I got the HTC One S on launch day and it's been working fine but now it has an available system update which I'm not sure applies to me as I don't use wifi calling.
My phone is already rooted with the stock rom and I just fixed my CWM recovery installation.
I have had experience with flashing new roms with my old mytouch 3g slide but I want to make sure I get it right on this phone.
I bought a copy of titanium backup pro so I assume I should just use that to backup everything (except recent calls and texts, never figured that out but feel free to suggest an app for that...maybe built in google account?).
If I got it correct, this is what I plan to do:
1. Backup everything
2. Flash stock rom
3. Perform System /update
3. Re-root?
4. Flash LeeDroid
5. Restore apps
Let me know if that's right, or maybe I don't need to re-root? Or maybe root after installing LeeDroid?
You only really want it for the radio update. Roms come with new bases and there's no reason to update the hboot.
Check out the dev section for a way to update the radio while rooted.
However of you want to go the long way, you will have to
Back up
Relock the bootloader
Run the correct ruu
Run the update
Repeat the steps you have taken to unlock and root
Then restore etc...

Just update the radio. Takes a couple of minutes.
No point going through that whole process if you are going back to Leedroid!!
Thanks guys, it's just as simple as flashing the new radio from a zip file in cwm (like on my old mytouch slide), right? I'm gonna do a full backup and try out leedroid tomorrow.

But isn't updating radio much more dangerous than a normal full upgrade? I mean you risk a permanent brick!
Yup

I accidentally ran the ota while trying to reroot my HOX after a crash. Now I'm stuck on the new hboot. I see people talking about flashing boot.img through fastboot. I'm wondering how to flash radios now that I'm on this more locked down bootloader.
I have my unlock tokens and can still unlock the boot through fastboot. I'm running CR 4.5.
Any help would be appreciated.

Good point. The radio location might have moved. Scratch my previous suggestion
I tried flashing TN and it hung in aroma on flashing boot. That ended up screwing a bunch of things up. I'm ok with my setup except my WiFi connection is iffy. I can live with it, but wanted to try a few radios to see if I could solve it that way.

I had my TB running Zeus Skyraider. I was having some minor issues but nothing that really scared me. I decided to restore it/unroot it in case I had to bring it in. I used the app thunderbolt restore. Now it won't boot past the white "HTC" screen and it only says HTC, no "Quietly brilliant". I can get to the bootloader but it automatically tries to install a update and won't let me do anything other than reboot. I'm really scared I bricked my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I should probably also mention that it did boot up once and everything looked fine, and then I tried to install a verizon OTA update. That is when it started really having problems.
You might yet clearing your cache.

But I can't even get to recovery. The bootloader won't let me.
After the bootloader checks IMG150 or whatever it asks if I want to start update. Whatever I say it just leads to the plain HTC screen again. It also says "***LOCKED***" at the top of the screen. Is my phone completely locked?
The bootloader is locked. Perhaps flash an RUU to return to stock rather than an ota.

Ok, I am pretty bad at this stuff. Can someone point me to an appropriate RUU. I don't know what I should use. Does the radio I had before restoring matter or anything like that? I just want to know exactly what I am doing before I do it.
Okay, Zeus is gingerbread, so if you were running that, then you are best served flashing one of the gingerbread RUU files. You most certainly do NOT want to flash a froyo version.
Development Stickies have them. Read up on how to flash it.

That's not a GB radio is it?

Yes.
Remove the SD and then try to factory reset from the bootloader.
If it doesn't work remove the PG05IMG.zip off of the SD and then rename this https://dl.dropbox.com/u/61129367/Stock-ROM.zip to PG05IMG.zip and put it on the SD and then boot to the bootloader and run it. Then remove the file from the card and try to boot.
So nothing ITT seemed like it helped because the phone was not booting up all the way, but this morning it was on and everything was working so, I think it is at least in a state where I can take it to a verizon store and see what they can do about it. Thanks for all of the advise everyone.

So Thunderbolt restore successfully got you to an old stock rom that ran fine?
I'm thinking about upgrading my Thunderbolt from CM 7.1.1 to one of the Liquid ICS ROMs found on this board. I have a few reservations so I want to do this right. I know enough to be dangerous but I'm far from an expert so any help is appreciated.
First, what I did to get to where I am: I went from a Stock Gingerbread HTC Sense ROM to CM 7.1.1 following this how-to: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Thunderbolt:_Full_Update_Guide
To my knowledge, I've never flashed any radios and following that guide worked perfectly. The ROM is a little buggy but not bad. For the most part it works brilliantly and I love it.
However, as I said, I'd like to try Liquid ICS and my understanding is it requires you flash a radio. What I want to do is ensure that I can do a full Nandroid backup now so that in case I'm not a fan, I'm able to restore back.
Presumably that would involve flashing the radio that I'm currently using and then restoring from the Nandroid backup. Is that right?
If so, how do I find the current radio file? My baseband version looks odd to me, but maybe it isn't. It's listed as "1.39.00.0627r,0.01.69.0625r". The comma (seemingly separating two version #s?) is what is throwing me off.
Anyway, I really want to try ICS but I just want a method to get back to my current state if need be. How can I accomplish this?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Find the 605.19 radio and flash in the bootloader by renaming it PG05IMG.zip. The file has to be on the root of your sd card for the bootloader to detect the radio. To go back to your old radio just download the one you had and flash it in the same manner. Radios aren't as simple to change back to as a Rom but once you know how to flash a radio its easy enough. Just remember to check the md5 sum of your radio after you download it and before you flash it. It will brick your phone if you flash a bad radio. Always rename the radio after you flash it or move it to another directory so that if you need to go into the bootloader it doesn't try to run the update again.

So my assumptions were correct. I need to flash the 605.19 radio to get to Liquid ICS.
How do I know which radio I have now? How do I find it? And the Nandroid restore will work after flashing back to the old radio?

You don't have to use that radio... It's only advised. If you want to flash liquid ics then go for it. If you have some data issues then try flashing the new radio. Make a nand of your current Rom of course in case there is something that you just can't stand. I would say that if the radio you are using now works fine for you then it should still work fine.

Ah gotcha. But still just in case- how do I find the radio file for what I currently have in case I do have to/wish to flash the 605.19 radio?

Holy crap..... That is the first radio put on this phone ROFL. If you had any issues with data that could be it. Download the 605.19 and try it. Heres a link with all the radios.

Yep you can always go back. Just download that radio and flash it the way I posted earlier. I don't know if you will have problems with your current radio but I imagine you're going to have data drops with them and liquid ics. They fixed the ril using the .19 radios so they seem to work better.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Makes sense. Okay, one last question- looking at the link you posted, it looks like I have two radios (at least it's two separate files on that link). Am I losing my mind?
No. They can be packaged together or separate. They can even be mixed or matched. It's usually better to use the same two though. If you do go back you will have to flash each one of those radios to get it back the way you are now. That is unless you can find someone that knows how to combine the two in a zip.

Yea. Just remember to change the name of the zip before going back to the bootloader so that you don't try flafhing the same one again.
