G2X 4g Data speeds - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have been running many speed tests all day in different parts of Atlanta since I purchased my phone this morning. The 4g speeds that I am getting here have been fairly consistent all day. I have attached a screenshot of a few speedtests I did earlier today for the reference of those who might be curious as to know what type of data speeds they might expect.

I was in Atlanta this past weekend and best I have gotten with my vibrant was 2200kbs and about 1200kbs.. I cant wait to have my G2x, just ordered one today. I was also about to get lost in Atlanta due to GPS problems with my vibrant. I hope G2x is going to be better!

I'm interested to see what the speeds are like in Vegas, since it's all flat and no tall buildings to get in the way.

Just got back from Vegas June 10th and actually consistently got 6 mbps with my G2x. Funny thing is how many times I went to meet up with other friends at 5:30 am (which is time I would receiv text) just to find out they sent the text 5 hours ago.

Orlando Speeds
These are my latest speed test in Orlando, FL.

What 4G speeds are you guys pulling off?(:

NOT A USEFUL Q&A JUST FOR FUN.
No 4g were I'm at. Sadly :/
But I want to see what speeds you guys are getting off on 4G.
So that being said. What 4G speeds are guys pulling off? (Prefer pictures of your speed test text is also fine)

Trust me, it's WAY better than Sprint's WiMax. I came from an Evo and I know that for sure.
Also just FYI, the overall signal quality in LA isn't as good as in San Diego, but not to the level where you will have problems.
I get about 16 down and 4 up. I live outside of Baltimore and seem to have 4g everywhere I travel. Washington DC coverage seems to be hit or miss though. The speeds of this device are incredible.

I've done speedtests all over L.A. and the slowest I've gotten is here at work in a brick building next to a hill with bad reception for all carriers, and I get about 8/1 here. Everywhere else I get much better speeds, sometimes 20+/10+.
Well I happen to work next to the Airport in Salt Lake City, Utah so I only get 4G coverage at work. I take that back, I think the coverage is there because I work next to one of Verizon's largest call centers. Regardless my speeds are lopsided.
I'm getting about 12.5MB/second Down and 26.5MB/second Up
Most of you guys have BS scores. You cant use speedtests app... even the 2.0 version is crap.
www.speakeasy.net - End of story. Dont post BS download and upload speeds without going there first.
That being said Im getting around 18 down, 3-4 up in the Lehigh Valley PA.
Interesting story from Wired.
Kind of sad how slow the rest are compared to Verizon...

Verizon has 700mhz for the spectrum their LTE network is on. Sprint's WiMax is on 2500mhz, the highest of all for cell phone coverage, thus is absolutely sucks indoors worse than anything else. Sprint's 3G is on 1900 which is also sucky and worse than tmobile's 1700 for 3G which AT&T is looking to buy to put their LTE on. Verizon by far is going to have the best 4g coverage for a multitude of reasons.

The speedtest app has been working correctly for me for awhile now. I just pulled identical speeds using the speedtest app, speedtest.net, and speakeasy.net. The Speakeasy test is also powered by Ookla, the same people who make the speedtest app and the speedtest.net website, they're all the same.

Slow LTE speeds?

Hey guys i'm using the HTC Thunderbolt and i'm have an issue. The first week I had it I was getting speeds from 20mbps all the way to 32mbps down...now im barely getting 5 up and 3 down. Any advice?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
same here, im gettin 11 up and 5 down.
los angeles, ca.
As more 4g devices are sold our connection will get slower and slower you can't really expect 20mb down can you? I mean Sprint network only gets 3 down on 4g ours won't get that slow but just a comparison.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
5 up and 3 down here also, it has slowed way down for me!!!
Had that problem the other day. I was getting mid/low 2s. 5 isn't that bad. It's advertised speeds are 5-12.
EDIT: Just checking my speeds now, getting low 2s again.
that should be around what it should be once lte gets more and more used right?
I'm getting 10 down and up. What ROMs and radios are you guys using?

I'm getting no issues on mine. Speeds are still the way they were. ~25down ~6-7up (in mbps)
of course that could change as more people jump in to the lte bandwagon.
In Cincinnati I was pulling 30ish down the first week, and now I am seeing consistant 11 everywhere, and in some places 15-20. Depends on where I am. Same signal strengh where I am at home and at work, but at work I do sit around 20 down, and at home 11ish.
Pretty happy with LTE over all, compaired to the WiMax I had that I couldn't even get in my house. lol.
23.09 Mbps down and 15.75 Mbps down here, it stays about the same all day, give or take 5 Mbps.
thats on CM7 though, im sure on stock it would be higher.
It's been the same for me and better too. At work my speed has been consistently ~17-20Mbps. The difference in the last week has been at my house, where I've gone from ~5-9Mpbps to ~15-20Mbps, rivaling my home FIOS connection. WOOT!
As long as VZW continue to expand their 4G network, it should be relatively easy for everyone to break 10Mbps
I haven't seen any noticeable difference here in the Metro-Detroit area. Last speedtest i ran was around 13-15 up and 4-5 down.
One thing to remember is that the speedtest.net app doesn't give consistent or accurate readings. If you go to speedtest.net from your phone's browser, you'll see much more accurate results.
Just ran a speedtest and got 30 down and 7 up. No difference at all for me. I'm in Baltimore, MD.

i dont live in philly but ive never tested above high 7's down/up. fastest has been 7.8ish down and the same up. normally it's between 5 and 6. i've been to and thru the city a lot since getting the TB @ launch, including testing with 4 bars on a boat under the Commodore Barry Bridge, elsewhere on the Delaware river, and a few miles up the Schuylkill with no obstructions and the fastest was still mid-7s. Also have done tests in Olde City, near the sports complex, and in centre city. nothing above 8.
across the river in NJ along the 295 corridor i get the same 4G speeds as philly. i've never tested faster than 8mbps down anywhere so far, which includes all of philly, northern DE near Wilmington, and the baltimore-DC corridor and greater DC.
running stock non-rooted with speedtest.net app. via wifi @ home i hit my advertised speeds of 16-20 down
maybe our 4G just sucks...didnt they even do initial LTE testing here? verizon is extremely present and active in phila. since it's basically a home city for them.

Actually I'd say your 4G rocks and is the best management of Verizon's network. They advertise 5-12Mbps down and 2-5Mbps up, and you are in the middle to low end of that guaranteed speed down and easily in the middle to top of the upload. That means Verizon is paying for the right amount of bandwidth to all of their towers in the area that you have been on, without overpaying to have way more than is needed like the people getting 16Mbps all the time. That 16Mbps means they have like 2x more bandwidth than needed, so they are paying the ISP's twice what they really need to and are thus making less money, from a business standpoint your region is the perfectly managed area. If your average speeds drop below 5Mbps be sure to call in and complain though.
Meh this LTE network is finckey. I probably should have specified that im in more of the suburbs in Radnor near Villanova

my speeds kind of doubled. I'm in the east bay (Fremont, near San Jose) i only had 1 bar but managed a steady 3.4mbps down and 1.2mbps up. I usually get half of that with 1 bar of 4g reception. I did not test while I was out and about today, but Fremont was not one of the 55 cities.
i need to speedtest once i get back into the city (SF), but unfortunately in big cities the data demand is consistently high, so a boost may not be noticed, but I'm sure it'll increase data speed stability.
Looking good so far tho!

I'm not from LA, Just visiting. I'm getting 2 to 6Mbps here. I guess you could say that's not bad, but the answer to the OP question is I haven't noticed any increase in the last couple days. From what I have experienced, TMO is advertising "AMERICA's LARGEST 4G NETWORK" When actually its truly only a 3.5G network in selected markets neglecting the majority of the rest of the country and leaving us with an unreliable 2G network. At least some of the other providers can say they have a large portion of the country covered by at least 3G. TMO does have a good looking woman spouting their lies for them though.

thats a can that doesnt need to be opened. there is no "TRUE" 4G tech thats readily deployed right now.
I dont care what they call it. They can call its it worms for all i care lol. 4-10mbps is fast enough for any mobile application.
And last thing, all of these are theoretical speeds are in perfect conditions, no loads, etc. I dont think any of these supposed breakneck speeds VZ, ATT, Tmob, or Sprint advertises will actually happen in real world use. 42mbps? Yeah right TMob!! Ive never seen over 11mbps on TM or Sprint 4G.

the speeds at state are random - as backed up by Tmo's own coverage map. you're much better off testing it at Stones Town.
If I were you, I would keep the MT4G. I regret exchanging mine for the SGS4G.
I am seeing about a 3-5mbps increase in tulsa. I average around 15 and before was around 12.
Funny thing is, started testing yesterday... They must have forgotten to do Chicago, even though it is listed. I'm right down town in the loop, at least my speeds are consistant... 1.09 down and 0.25 up. If anything, I am seeing a major speed de-crease. Hell, In naperville, IL, I have speed tests clocked from several months a go, 1 at 7.1 Mbps down and 3.4 Mbps up. Currently in naperville, tests range from 1 Mbps down all the way up to 7.3 Mbps down.
Chicago, no go. I sent tmo a tweet asking what the deal was and if they accidently included chicago in the list or if it is broken already... 24 hours later, they ignored the comment...probably because they know its true.
I love tmo...but seriously, whats with all they hype if theyre not gonna stand by it, everywhere mentioned in the press release.
-been w/ tmo for 7 or so years now, right after they changed over from voice stream. I dont plan on leaving, just wondering where our love is here in Chicago and surrounding areas.

Yup, noticed it this morning. 3G signal dropped, and I saw the 4G LTE logo appear!
Did some speed tests, and the highest I got to was 30 Mbps down. May be a fluke, but still pretty cool to see. Avg speeds ranged around 12-15 Mbps down.
Awesome. I'll have to let my buddies known

Yep, I noticed the 4G appear on Friday too. I work in Carson City and was pulling down between 12-14MBps on 4G there. Then I went home to Dayton, and to my surprise the 4G works here too. I am not sure how many or where Verizon put the towers, but they did a good job and are covering a BIG area.

I realize this thread is a month or so old now but interested in some input from fellow local T-bolt users now that we've been live for a few months.
So far my 4G has been pretty good, I've noticed 4G as far as Fallon!(I drive quite often due to my current occupation) But for some reason I drop it every time I cross W Mccarrin by 7th, unless I'm on I80 sometimes headed west. Here I go to rub VZW 4G in my AT&T buddies face, low and behold I pull my phone out and it's in 3G lol. It seems random in the northwest area, can anyone else confirm this?
Not sure if this is due to my radio, or running cm7...some days it's great all day long with exceptional speeds and others it just blows, drops in and out all day long.

It's been on since around September 15th; yesterday it was out in the morning, but came back around noon.
Speeds vary wildly (especially with SpeedTest.net), depends on where you are at the moment, and the phase of the moon
I've noticed speed variances with the apps badly, I get a more solid reoccuring speed if I use the browser speed test method.
But yes, yesterday was a fairly bad service day I noticed. I get good travel throughout Reno and Sparks so I try to take notice to good vs. bad service areas.
Anyone know how many antennas vzw put up in the area? Did a brief search coming up without much...
It's not how many new antennas as for retrofitting existing ones, plus the hardware hand-off 1x-3g-4g, since 4g is basically the older analog TV band being re-purposed. 4g penetrates structures better than the higher frequency 3g.
---------- Post added at 04:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:44 PM ----------
I should also add that it depends on where the antenna is located and how (the back cover on the phone, and whether it's seated properly), how "tuned" the chips are inside the phone (put two T-Bolts side-by-side & compare dBm values - available with some custom ROMs, or use OpenSignalMaps), what radio versions you're using (for me the 817 CDMA paired with the 803 LTE has worked the best so far; the 906 radios just ate the battery "hunting" all the time; still waiting to hear about the latest version - not so good from what I hear so far). All-in-all, each phone has its own favorite ROM/Radio combo that works for it.

Enhanced backhaul, do i have it?

so i live in a college town. Davis, CA 15 min outside of sacramento. I have gone to the att store hear to ask whether or not the city's cell towers have the aforementioned enhanced backhaul that will allow my infuse to run at around 6mbps. Currently Im only getting up to 2.8mbps the most at any given time in specific areas of the city. Now this place is like literally 15 miles wide. I was told that att retail locations don't have the information on whether or not en-bckhl has been done here. Seems odd to me. But is there any way on earth that i can find that i can find that info out using an app of some sort or maybe a number i can call.
I am on infused 2.2.3 btw. Any help greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been covered before and i missed it. I scrolled a lot of topics but got frusterated

The max I ever hit on Infuse was when I was on stock, and that was about consistently at 8 Mbps down, and peaked at about ~11-12 Mbps.
SkyRocket on the other hand, based on reports here, averages about 50Mbps down.
I know this doesn't answer your question directly, but I hope it helps.

The Skyrocket is an LTE phone. The Infuse is HSDPA+ so even though our Infuse has 4G in the title, the Skyrocket is the true 4G phone.

I won't dare to do a speed test on that, except maybe once per billing cycle. ~5 Mbps down takes about 20 MB per test. 50 would take about 200.
The speeds are theoretical, they're not representative of actual scenarios.

I believe all speeds are technically theoretical. However i seem to be in the extreme minority here on the forums and probably in the country too. I think that my city just doesn't have the backhaul. Which really really really sucks. Even the 3g service dips pretty low anywhere approaching outside the 20 mile radius. I have never seen true hsdpa or hspa + speeds on this phone which is really depressing. I've been in Davis for a year now and it isn't looking like theyre going to do anything about these speeds anytime soon. Unless Im totally wrong and its just the immense student traffic bogging down the network. But i highly doubt it. This is also really upsetting because of the fact that Att claims that all of northern California has enhanced backhaul >:[ not a happy camper.

These numbers just seem insanely ridiculous to me. I have never ever seen these numbers anywhere here in California either in los angeles or San fran, Sac, Davis---anywhere. Im very jealous of your area. Also how does the Skyrocket manage such unrealistic numbers?

Ive seen those speed in the korea town area of la. For the most part most of these roms have slower network speeds. infused roms gets me 6-11mb down. But these hellraiser roms are nice.
